Age 59, I have been a Severus and Alan Rickman fan for a couple years. I post SS/HG stories.
I went to NY last week to see Seminar (Jan 4, 20012) It was wonderful.
Shades of Severus in his character and his house. I was priviledge to see Alan up close an personal after the play.

I guess it would be too easy for Snape to just READ the journal ;) I laughed about him feeding Grendal---there's an excuse to run since its probably been taking care of itself just fine all this time. What an awkward situation fo both of them.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
But reading the journal doesn't mean memories come back. I can watch home movie from when I was a child and I still don't remember the events. I know of them because I see them. This isn't going to be easy. Yes, he is trying to run from his feelings.
Thanks so much.
Response from Myst (Reviewer)
LOL---but at least he'd have a clue as why she feels the way she does. Love the story.
Ah, the familiarity. That does help matters, doesn't it?
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Yes, it does a bit.
Awww, Good going Hermione, just chip away at his reserve, little by little...I hope Severus will READ the journal, and finally realize that they are suited for one another...Well done....Love it love it..Can't wait for another chapter!!
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Well as I told another fan, readings not the same as memory. Thank you so much, next ones in the queue.
Hello - I just wanted to say that this latest installment went very well. I liked that he is feeling echos of Raven and wondering about them. When will his Slytherin come out? Slytherin's are all about preserving themselves - when will he figure out that giving into Raven will cost him and then at the same time, give him everything he has ever wanted? Will he be able to do it? He obviously wants it. Afterall, that massage felt very good, and he admitted to himself that no one had affected him like that before. To have that available all the time? Oh, wow! What would the ultimate slytherin do for that? *sigh....
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
I would say this will be a hard thing for Severus to give up all he has been no matter how hard he might want it. It's going to take time. Thanks for your great review. It is much appreciated.
Jeannie, thank you so much for this chapter! I like the dynamic between Hermione and Severus; the description of the massage and Severus' response to her touch is perfect, as is whole your story! I am so relieved that he seems to get closer to her, even though his conscience tries to deny his attraction to Hermione!
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Thank you so much I_am, Yes, he wants to respond yet he has had such a hard life and love has always hurt him. It's gona take time.
Question: Where would we be without the stubborness of Severus Snape? Answer: Much happier!Geez! Is it going to take an engraved invitation to make that man crack open the diary Raven left for him? He's killing me! And his behavior is ripping Hermione to shreds. I feel her heartache from a mile away. Maybe she found something to tempt Severus with when she gave him that massage. There is more than one way to a man's heart. Fantastically Frustrating chapter!!! :D
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Yes me would LOL. Yes, reading that diary is going to be frustrating. Even if he does, it doesn'tmean it will trigger his memories. Yes, there is more thna one way to this man's heart :) Thanks so much for your review. I enjoyed it.
Severus needs to read the journal that Raven left for him so he can remember what they meant to each other. Has he forgotten that he has it? I had a feeling that when Raven became Severus once again there would be this return to the old Severus and Raven would be left behind. But Raven is still inside there and trying to get out. Please let him come back and become one with Severus so he and Hermione can be happy once again.Great story, m'dear.Beth
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Reading doean't mean remembering. We are talking abut Severus here. If anything he's a proper man at least in dealing with his students and collegues.Great review. Yes, Raven's in there and I'm not sure Severus would think what Raven was was weak and letting Raven in will hurt him. He tries hard to protect himself from pain.
Hermioe had her work cut out for her as does Raven.
Thanks Beth.
It seems that Severus is well and truly back, but it also seems that Raven is alive and well, if a little subdued, inside the Potions master.I can't wait to see what happens next, Jeannie. Good job!Beth
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Thanks yes they are both there and there is a lot of work and acceptance for them to go through. Thanks Beth :)
Another great update. On one side I do understand that a relationship with Hermione is a complete surprice and quite unexpected for Severus, and so far rather unwanted. On the other side I want to kick Severus butt and demand for Raven to come back. I hate for Hermione to be hurt and Severus is hurting her, I want her to have her Raven back!
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
LOL, I do to, but it will only happen if Severus can accept what Raven was to her and that Raven is part of him.
Hang in there more to come soon. Thanks so much.
Heart wrenching stuff. Hope he remembers soon!
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Yes, it is and hard to write but if I'm to make Severus believable it has to be done. Hang in there :)
I'm on Chapter 36 now.
It sounds to me like a lot of Severus' attitude is because he can't fathom why a woman like Hermione could want an older damaged man like himself. I do hope he reads what Raven left for him... I think it would do him a world of good to realize that Raven was the man he could have been if life had been fairer to him the first time around. I think there's hope, but it will take some time.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
You hit this on the head. Thats exactly what he stuck on. He's never felt worthy of a yung beautiful woman. He's always been rejected before. He can't imagine that she wants him for himself. He thinks she wants him becasue she cant have Raven again. Or maybe he thinks she wants to turn him back inot Raven. This is very ahrd for him. He does not like hurting and he's aways hurt in the end. It may take some time. Thank so much great review,
Oh, this is so sad! You have me boo-hooing here. What a horrible thing to have lost so much and have Severus react the way he is.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Yes, it is, there is so much pain in that man he is sheilding himself from rejection he is certain will come. She going to have to work hard on him. :)
Excellent. I'm looking forward to the next chapter!
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Thank you so much, next ones in the queue. :)
I love the idea that Severus' father was illiterate. That makes a lot of sense. I didnt expect rainbows and sunshine when Severus came back and still I am saddened. I did like that Raven side of him very much.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Thank you :) Glad you liked that idea. Yes, these next chapters are difficult ones, but just becasue we can't see Raven doesn't mean he's not there :)
this is such a great story. tugging t my heart for Hermione. i hope you will be updating soon.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Thank you, yes there should be an update soon, the next chapters are a bit hard for her...I'm writing ch 36 now. Nearly done :)
I am impatiently awaiting the next chapter! Excellent so far. I'd have enjoyed more about Raven's regression than was covered. I can't wait to see what will happen next!!!
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Sorry that was a bit short. I just didn't want to spend too much time on it. I'm glad you liked it. Hope to have another chapter up in a few days. I'm now working on Ch 36. Thank you so much.
Oh my God!!!Poor Hermione...Will Raven ever be back?I just adore this story....and the speed with which you update this magnificent tale.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Thank you so much, Raven's part of Severus now. I'm trying to keep the chapters coming till it's done. I'm writing ch 34 right now.
One thing stuck with me. He needed the mark to be able to pass through the wall, without it Hermione couldn't pass it. So they shouldn't be able to leave now that his mark is gone . The wall should be hard stone for both of them, which would have been a good opportunity for Snape being forced to deal with Hermione and their shared past instead of pushing it away.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Good point, I just assumed it as locked from the outside, once inside you could pass through to get out. Whether Hermione needed his protection on the way out she will never know. I do not think she would have had the courage to try on her own. But I probably shoould have explained this all in writing.
Thanks for your observations :)
Poor Severus. He needs to find Raven within himself. Excellent story! Can't wait for more!
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Thank you, yoour right he does. But it's not easy for him. Thank you :)
The anguish and heartbreak that Hermione is feeling is palpable. She has to be devastated. Thank goodness pieces of Raven are slipping into Severus' demeanor. Calling her Hermione and feeling he should be comforting her are definitely steps in the right direction. I think that once Severus reads the journal of Raven's experiences and thoughts that he will understand Hermione's reaction to him. Great chapter! :D
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Thank you for your thoughts. She is devestated and he's confised I think. He has very litttle faith in anyone and has always been hurt as well. They both have a lot to deal with right now. But it's not only the journal, thats words, Raven's alive inside now :)
Poor Hermione, she must be crushed, although she and Raven knew this may happen. Perhaps things will work out for them anyhow.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Yes she is crushed. But she see's tiny sparks in him. There is still hope. Perhapse they will in time.
Oh, Severus is back and is his old snarky-sneering self. I could still see and feel bits of Raven coming through, though. And Severus' attachement to Hermione is still there, but repressed. Good job, girl.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Thank you, high praise from my mentor :)and (sometimes partner in crime here )
Yes, there are tiny, tiny bits coming through.
*Sigh* It had to happen, I know, but it's terrible. However, I am buoyed up by the small feelings he's feeling. And good for Hermione for trying to reach out to the Raven in him. Even better that she slapped him when he accused her of using Raven. I was ready to do so myself.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Well thank you, I wasn't sure Snape might strike her back, but he was a good boy LOL. Severus will have a hard time believing she could care for him. He's never had love, love he accepts as real and genuine. But then again Raven is apart of him. I think it will be very hard for hm to accept those feelings that might break through.
I am going to trust you to make this turn out right, missy! I don't think you will let me down. Quite an adventure they have embarked upon, isn't it.
