Terms of Use

1. The Petulant Poetess was created to host Harry Potter fanfiction of all 'ships as well as original fiction and poetry regardless of rating.
2. M(R) and MA+(NC-17) material is restricted to members who verify that they are of the age of majority in their state, province or country. Ratings are clearly defined and proper warnings are displayed. We are registered with several child protection software programs and sites and do not in any way condone the dissemination of adult literature to minors.
3. The Petulant Poetess complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and does not collect personal information from minors. Members may voluntarily post personal information, and membership is expressly restricted to adults. Cookies are only used for members who wish to store their login information, and no further information is gathered.
4. By reading and posting on The Petulant Poetess, you understand that all stories, images and links contained within the stories are the sole responsibility of the person (author) who posted it. The Petulant Poetess is not responsible for anything an author may upload. All content uploaded by the author does not necessarily express the views of The Petulant Poetess.
   You understand that by using this site, you may be exposed to material that is offensive, indecent or objectionable to you. No one can be responsible for a reader's interpretation or feelings about certain issues. Warnings are placed. If something is offensive to you, it is your responsibility to "change the channel." If you feel a story lacked the proper warning, please notify the author and the Headmistress.
   Liability:Under no circumstances will The Petulant Poetess be liable in any way for loss or damage of any kind incurred as a result of the use of any material that has been uploaded, posted, transmitted or otherwise made available by our service.
5. All fanfiction, original stories and poetry are copyrighted by the author, therefore The Petulant Poetess cannot claim ownership or responsbility for them. Because a story is the property of the author and not of this site, an author may choose to include links to images or other sites that are not hosted here. The Petulant Poetess is not responsible for content found on other sites.
   Because a story is the sole property of the author, the author has the right to delete a story if he/she so wishes without any retribution from The Petulant Poetess.
6. By posting to this site, authors agree to not utilize any links and/or verbiage redirecting a reader within a story to another site. All abandoned storied on TPP should be marked as such via the Edit/Delete Chapter link or removed.
7. The Petulant Poetess does not condone plagiarism in any form. By using this site and posting a story, you are stating that the story is wholly yours and is not plagiarized and/or a paraphrased copy of a story created by another author, whether or not the original story is published on this site.
8. Reviewers who use obscene language or harrass authors by flaming or sending abusive e-mails will be Portkeyed out of here posthaste (will not be allowed access by my host). No second chances for this one. Furthermore, if you choose to maliciously rate a story low in order to bring the rating of a story down, your rating WILL BE set to the default(NO VOTE) by the Headmistress and will no longer be counted toward the average. Do it a second time and your IP address will be banned.
   Please note: IP addresses are logged for all reviews, even anonymous ones. In order to be COPPA compliant, we cannot collect information from minors and this includes IP addresses. By leaving a review, you are stating that you are of the age of majority in your state or country.
9. If you notice an error (or errors) in a validated author's story or a story that has been validated by an administrator, the correct procedure to follow is to inform the author via e-mail (click on "Contact" on the author's user profile page). It is rude to leave it in a review. E-mailing the author shows respect and that is what the "Contact" link is for.
10. The Petulant Poetess provides membership as a privilege. The Headmistress reserves the right to deny membership to anyone who abuses the privilege. Abuse includes, but is not inclusive to, not obeying the Terms of Use, using the contact form to harrass authors, and spamming the review or comment areas (leaving multiple and unnecessary reviews and/or comments).
11. By submitting a story, reviewing or reading the member agrees to the Submission Rules as well as the Terms of Use.
12. You are subject to the Terms of Use and forum guidelines when and if you choose to post a topic or reply on the forum. You agree, through your use of the forums portion of the Site, that you will not use The Petulant Poetess forums to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, threatening, or otherwise violative of any law.
13. By using the service provided by The Petulant Poetess, you agree not to reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell or exploit for any commercial purposes or non-commercial purposes, any material posted on The Petulant Poetess. Written permission must be obtained by the author before you can use any material in any manner whatsoever. The Petulant Poetess is not responsible for any legal action that is brought against you by the author if you choose to disregard this notice.
14. The Petulant Poetess reserves the right to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the service we provide, with or without notice (of course, we will try our best to notify you). By using the site, you agree that The Petulant Poetess shall not be liable to you or any third-party for any modification, suspension or discontinuance of the service. Please be sure to keep a copy of your stories elsewhere. The Petulant Poetess is not responsible for loss of material due to server failure.

SPECIAL NOTES

• This is a tension-free zone. The number one rule on this site is to read, write, have fun, and learn a little along the way.
• Any parents of minor children who have discovered their child has falsified information to access and read adult-rated stories, please notify the Headmistress by clicking here, and she will be more than happy to block your IP address immediately.

• The Terms of Use may be updated at any time.
• There will be a notice posted on the front page and the changes will take effect immediately.
