Age 59, I have been a Severus and Alan Rickman fan for a couple years. I post SS/HG stories.
I went to NY last week to see Seminar (Jan 4, 20012) It was wonderful.
Shades of Severus in his character and his house. I was priviledge to see Alan up close an personal after the play.
Reviews for Raven
Raven is Severus. He needs to remember that. What a lovely chapter.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Yes he is, Severus won't accept that until he gets his memory back. Thank you.
The idea of Frank and Alice at Neville's wedding brings a tear to my eye.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Thank you I hope it would touch people.
Lovely chapter, glad to see Severus & Hermione making progress! A happy Severus Snape is quite disconcerting, but good to put people on edge. Good job & please update soon!
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
It is diconcerting and I sometimes wonder if I go over board on his happiness, but he deserves it and with Raven in there he has to change. tahnks another chapters in the Queue.
this is just getting better and better. i'm glad you finished it, having to wait so long to find out everything is going to be tough. can't wait to see if everything works.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Thank you, I'm glad you are enjoying the story. It is near and dear to my heart. I truley enjoyed Raven. I'm working at getting it posted as quickly as they will alow it :) Thanks again :)
I love the way Severus is developing. You're doing any amazing job telling this story. I can't wait to see what develops when they try to cure Harry and the Longbottoms. And it was nice to see Severus asking Neville's permission before just steaming ahead. That was a nice scene to show how they've both changed since the war. As for Raven, it seems Severus is begining to accept the gentler side of his personality. I'm sure it's only a matter of time until the memories follow. At least I hope so! Okay, I'll stop babbling now!
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Layljd, Thank you for the kind review. I'm so glad that you are enjoying the story. I very much enjoy writting for veville. He's an interesting character. I'm glad Neville was there when Severus stopped by. :) Yes Severus is starting the journey of truley becoming one complete person.Never babbling, I love hearing your thoughts about the story. I hate to finish it.Jeannie
Once again you've given us a marvelous chapter, Jeannie! I love this story so much because you give us a chance to see the three sides of Severus Snape. I say three sides because there is Severus as he was before the Dark Lord's demise, there is Raven who is Severus without his earlier memories, and there is Severus as he is today without his memories as Raven. It is a real treat to see how he is now in his relationship with Hermione. He has come to understand that she really and truly loved him as Raven and that she loves him as Severus, too. He realizes that until or unless he takes the next step to view the memories that Raven left for him there will always be this this gap in his life, and little by little I think he is working his way toward the Pensieve that holds the key to is past and his future.Hermione's patience and tender caring for the man she loves is bringing him to a place of comfort and courage. My favorite part of this chapter is when Severus tell her that if she wants to be a part of his life she will have to understand that he greatly regrets his past deeds and she replies, “Well, we will just have to make your future so good you have no time to dwell in the past.” I'm very glad that Severus had the opportunity to talk to Neville, and I think it was as important to Neville as it was to Severus. I'm looking forward to your next update. thanks.Beth
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Wow, Beth, You write the best reviews. I guess there was three Severus' there. He had so much to learn, so much to accept and so much to let go, He's still on that journey at this point6. But Hermione is finally getting to him in a real place that he can accept her. I'm gad you enjoyed that line, I write for myself as much as for others. Some words fall out of my head and otehrs are dragged out LOL.
Thank you I'm glad you liked that chapter it kind of came out of no where and wrote itself. I really have a soft spot for Neville. Thanks so much Beth.
Jeannie
Thank you for another great chapter. I guess Severus having doubts about Hermione really loving him as he is, is to be expected, we are talking about Severus Snape after all. But, it is rather insultung towards Hermione with thsi constant doubt about her, no matter his issues, he should be old enough, and lived through enough, to know that nobody can guarrantee you a life filled with happiness, that you actually have to risk getting hurt sometimes and that both parties have to make a realationship work. I do love this bit with Nevilles parents, I hope it will be at least somewhat successful!
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Thank you for your compliments, Severus is relaly a very "young" man in is emotional developement. He has a lot of baggage and mistrust and hurt in his past. He needs time to accept that he deserves happiness. Hermione understands that.
My instinct is to say Severus is truly a changed man, but that is not the case. He has always been this man. In many ways he has been unlocked from a comatose state much as he hopes to revive others.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Very good observations, Yes he was and still has much to face and accpet in his life. He truley has to be whole before he can help Harry.
Glad it's going well. It must be terribly confusing for poor Severus. I hope he gets put together soon.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Yes it is confusing, but with Raven becoming part of him it will get easier. Thanks for the review.
Response from debjunk (Reviewer)
I noticed in some other reviews you've mentioned that your readers wish you to hurry up with Severus' transformation. I too would love to see everything hunky-dory, but I feel it would be very unrealistic to do so. I think you've done a wonderful job with the pacing. It would be silly for Severus to just jump right back with Herms, especially since he can't remember anything but feelings. Yes, we may complain a bit, but hopefully like me, everyone else can see why you've paced as you have. It definitely makes for a better, more realistic story.
I enjoyed the chapter. Those last two paragraphs were really touching. How odd it must feel for him to be split in two like that.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Thank you so much, I'm gllad you enjoy it. Hermione is getting under his skin and Raven is integrating more and more into him. He will become more comfortable in his skin as time goes by.
It appears a Raven/Severus merge is in the process and Severus is more open minded after a talk with Min. Hermione's change of address for him has helped.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Yes, your right the merge is in process, Severus is letting himself be more positive in ways even he is not seeing yet. It's natural and he doesn't notice the changes. Hermione working with him is going to help.
Severus shouldn't torture himself. And I think that Hermione is doing wonderfully well at getting him to let himself live a bit again.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Well thats all Severus knows is torture. Its hard to believe there somthing better, but Raven will help him make that transition.
Things are progressing nicely, if a bit abruptly.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
I think Raven is sneaking up on Severus. He's letting his body tell him things without thinking. It's all becoming more natural to him. He is changing and becasue it's all part of him, it's not painful or irritating ot him. Most readers think this is all going way to slow LOL. Hope you continue t enjoythe story. Thanks for reading.
Nice chapter. I can imagine this not being easy to write--keeping him in character and merging two personalities at the same time.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
No it's not. I wanted to keep him true to severus for a time then let Raven get to him. I know the last 3-4 chapters have been hard on the readers. But it's going to improve soon. Thanks :)
So far the integration's going well, looking forward to seeing how it all works out. Good to see things're going smoothly thus far between Hermione & Severus. Can't wait to see what the next chapter reveals!
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Thank you so much, I think you will like the next one, things will start to move and develope.
Response from Jinxie (Reviewer)
Ooh, sounds good, very much looking forward to it!
Yay! I do believe that 'Severus' and 'Raven' are really starting to merge now - just as I knew they would! At least Severus is really starting to recognise that the softer side of himself is really part of him and not just another person entirely, i.e. 'Raven'.Looking forward to the next update with interest! :-)
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Thanks was hoping you'd see the hope in that chapter. I know the last few have been hard for anxious readers. But I wanted to be true to Severus for awhile before Raven start's to show himself more and more in Severus emotion's.
I'm glad that they are able to work together again without feeling totally alien to one another. Their visit to Severus' lair after getting the poison from the dragon's claw, was a good time for him to get to know Hermione and himself better. Slowly Severus is beginning to identify the part of him that is Raven and to feel the coming together of his two selves. I hope in time that Severus will realize that he is now and has always been Severus and Raven, that his personality had always had a gentle side even though he had had to hide it in his role as a spy for the Light.I enjoyed reading about their dinner and how they were able to talk. When Hermione held him to herself, I wanted to cheer!!!!I love it!Beth
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Yes, they are trying hard to work together and Severus is trying to remaine Severus but in doing so he's really afraid to lose Hermione. Hermione already feels like and extension of homself. He just has to give in to the idea of Her being able to love him as she did Raven.Glad you enjoyed the dinner. :)Thanks Beth.
Great chapter - more angst for both of them when she cried out for Raven.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Yes, bad slip for her to make when she was finally getting to him. Thanks so much.
No, what a mistake for Hermione to make. Snape is so touchy as it is. The wizard is like a porcupine.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
That was horrible wasn't it it makes me cringe to read it too :)
Snape is jealous of himself. Wow, what unusual circumstances to be in.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Yes, it is, he want to remember and want's what Raven had he just doesn't know what to do about it LOL
I'm sorry I have not been reviewing each chapter. I have been gobbling them up reading them. Each is so full of emotion. I am impressed with your writing skill. I am ready to cry along with Hermione at the end of this chapter.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad they are making you feel the things she's feeling.
Yay, Severus is back. Poor Hermione having to start all over again - all the merrier the chase I guess!Great job with this chapter!
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Thank you s much, glad you are enjoying the story :)
Anyone who can kiss like that (could I borrow him please?!!) and be compassionate enough to 'listen in' sympathetically when Hermione was crying must still have feelings closer to the surface than he realises! He didn't even go off drinking as he'd threatened, proving he wants to do the right thing. It must all be terribly confusing for him. He still just needs time ...And thank you for once again mentioning God - you may remember that I commented on this quite early on in this story; it's good to think that the HP universe doesn't have to be anti Christian/conventional religion.I feel sure that happier times are just around the corner for these two. Like them, all of us reader/reviewers have just got to hang on in there I guess! :-)
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Wish I had him myself, but yoou can borrow him anytime LOL. Yes he's finding changes in himself hes scared to death off. Thank you, I'm glad you like me mentioning God, hes a big part of my life (Jesus Christ as well) I have more references coming up. Thank you. I do remember. Hang in there it's gona get better real soon. :)Thank so much for such a nice review
It begins! Ugh, must wait for next chapter *pouts*--yes, yes, I know its in the queue.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of Raven)
Yes, it begins, I'm trying my best to get the chapters out asap. The queue process is long becasue so many others need chapters approved too. I'm writing ch 47 now so there is much more to come, hang i there. Thanks so much
