A canon compliant version of the last fourteen years in the life of Severus Snape. Canon compliant but with one important difference: in this story, Severus Snape has a friend. A friend who offers him her hand in the dark and will stay by his side until the bitter end.

Born: in the glorious year of 1979, when Dio joined Black Sabbath and Peter Pettigrew started passing on information to the Dark Lord
Colours: black, green, silver
Passions: writing, cooking, baking, witchcraft
Obsessions: quite a few, chocolate for one (hi Lupin!), but mainly a certain Potions master and a blond DE.
When I am not writing alone, I co-write with my favourite Ravenclaw star_girl. Look for sevs_starsisters to find our stories.
Published writer since 2014. Original fiction is good fun, but I find myself returning to fan fiction every now and then
Reviews for Morgaine's Story
Well done. What a truly wonderful journey of friendship and of love. Beautifully written. Raw, emotional and very honest. He was in character to yet it felt otherworldly to see things from his perspective. I loved her, what a wonderful new character. Thank you for sharing this story!!

Thank you for reading Morgaine's Story. For me Morgaine will always be the OC no other can live up to, and eventhough I've been writing original fiction for seven years now, I am yet to write a love as true and forgiving as the love between Morgaine and Severus. If you're interested to know how Morgaine will fare after Severus demise, I recommend reading Always By Your Side. You're in for a surprise or two if you do.
Is she 16? Or 17? I wasn't quite sure.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
Neither am I. XD I'm afraid I messed up the mathematics several times during this story. I one of the next chapters, Dumbledore says that she's 'just seventeen summers'. That would mean she turns 17 in October and is 16 in this chapter. But as I said: I'm quite convinced I made a mistake or two somewhere and can't guarantee that I've corrected them all.
My, oh my. He kissed her. I didn't think he had it in him but I am so glad he did. At the beginning of the story I wondered if we would eventually learn that Severus was her father and their connection would be a platonic love. But now I don't think so anymore. Great story so far.

He surprised everyone, including the author of the story.
Oh, so she can only hear him at certain times. Very interesting. This story has me riveted. I am really enjoying it!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
During some days and nights, magic is stronger than during others.
She can hear his thoughts, but why only him?
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
With the words of River Song: spoilers. :-)
Talk about a truly nerve wrecking situation for a 14 year old girl. I would have been so nervous in her situation.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
Ooooooh! You've started reading my very first fic, my first true love, the OC that still haunts me. I very much hope you'll enjoy the story. (Bare in mind, it was my first. I hope my writing has improved since.)
*speechless*
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
It's not really goodbye...
This. Was. Perfect. Gosh.. I am actually humming a romantic song... pathetic me!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
You big softie, you. :-)
Response from MayavanavihariniHarini (Reviewer)
Lol. I am not! Honestly I like to think of myself as the most unromantic girl (or woman, whatever) on earth... I'm always busy making comical interpretations of romantic scenarios! Now when someone brings out the reluctant romantic in me, THAT'S something. Which you did!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
I think a medal is in order ;-)
Response from MayavanavihariniHarini (Reviewer)
Ah, sure! ;)
There you go, ripping apart the remnants of my heart!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
More tissues, more chocolate. I have to admit, I still go back to this story when I need a good cry.
Response from MayavanavihariniHarini (Reviewer)
I've already joined the Back-To-This-Story-When-I-Need-A-Good-Cry club. We are sure to meet there! :)
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
I'll bring the choccie.
Response from MayavanavihariniHarini (Reviewer)
Yum! Thanks. I'll bring some roshogolla. Or maybe shrikhand, in honour of the Patil twins! :)
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
Sounds exciting.
Response from MayavanavihariniHarini (Reviewer)
Tastes even better!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
What is it?
Response from MayavanavihariniHarini (Reviewer)
Both are Indian desserts. Roshogolla is a spongy, syrupy ball made of chhana (fresh unripened curd cheese) from Bengal (my home state).. And shrikhand is a yoghurt with saffron, cardamom, pistachios, etc, popular in Maharashtra (the Patils' home state... Patil is a Maharashtrian surname!) I can assure you that both are very tasty and my personal favourites... Even if a bit high-cal!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
You had me at high-cal. :-)
Response from MayavanavihariniHarini (Reviewer)
Haha! But then, chocolates are high-cal too! ;)
"How many people can point out the exact moment they fell in love?" I couldn't resist my tears reading this... You brought out the reluctant romantic in me!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
*hands over tissue and chocolate* There there ...
Response from MayavanavihariniHarini (Reviewer)
Honestly, I like to think of myself as a fiercely independent woman with no time for nonsense like romance! You suddenly jerked me out of my reverie!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
Imagine thinking exactly that and suddenly realising that you're WRITING romance!
Response from MayavanavihariniHarini (Reviewer)
That's EXACTLY what happened to me. I was listening to an ultra-romantic track, Aayat, from a Hindi movie, when the plot of the crazy romance (?!) which I'm now writing came to my mind. Hell, my colleagues will have a heart attack if they ever read this and learn that I was the one writing it!
Response from MayavanavihariniHarini (Reviewer)
However, I still maintain that I am basically quite unromantic in real life.. At 24, I'm gloriously single and have hardly ever been in the mood to mingle! Romance, provided it is intense enough, does move me though, which I have reluctantly come to realise.
I was waiting for something like this right from the time Remus was first mentioned in the story. Then, just when I started imagining that Remus was nothing more than a guest appearance, off you went. BANG! Poor Morgaine!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
Poor everyone involved. I never wrote it down, but I thought a lot about how Remus must feel in this story. Morgaine is very dear to him, and he knows how rough Severus can be. He wants Morgaien to be happy, but he can see the risks she's taking. What kind of advice is a friend to give in a situation like that? (Wonder how much chocolate they ate!)
Response from MayavanavihariniHarini (Reviewer)
Now may I look forward to a oneshot on the Remus POV? :)
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
If I only had the time...
Response from MayavanavihariniHarini (Reviewer)
Ah, you will, some day! RL can be ruthless, I know that so well!
What a wonderful way to make them even!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
I still remember my beta-readers comment: "Did she just? Oh sh*t she did!" :-)
Response from MayavanavihariniHarini (Reviewer)
Haha!
Hi! The quest for the ghost story led me here... and I just ended up reading twelve chapters all at once. Phew! While I hate to interrupt my reading here owing to the RL high tide, I'll be right there. You just have me hooked, Ms Dulac (Ah, both the Ms Dulacs, that is.. the lovely author and the intriguing character!)
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
Oh, the memories. This was the first fic I wrote, and Severus/Morgaine is still my favourite SS/OC. They still haunt my dreams.
Response from MayavanavihariniHarini (Reviewer)
And now they will haunt my dreams too!
Love the depiction of the staff, the back story and the loneliness of his solitaire, sacrificial role... so wonderfully, terribly sad!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
Love re-reading this story with you. :-)
So bittersweet, Severus attending Dumbledore's funeral in his own special way; poor Morgaine, the doubt and frustration, and loss!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
I'm glad Lupin was there for her. But the again, he always was.
Enjoy their back story tied in with canon events on this fateful night... and Morgaine's loyalty and decision to be there for him!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
As this was my first fic, I was sooooo afraid I'd make canon-mistakes. Nice to see that all my hard work is appreciated now :-)
Such a bittersweet scenario, lovely handling of Severus' Patronus and acknowledging both his and Morgaine's pain... and love, as well as reminding us via Morgaine that Sev would not be the man he is without his undying loyalty *sigh*!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
I struggled so much with this chapter. Glad I got help from Memory and Trickie with it.
Love Morgaine's heart, one of solid gold and strength rarely found, as equal as her ability to be loyal and love against all odds - the perfect match for her loss, her beloved Severus
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
Naw, that was a very nice thing to say. Thank you!! And thank you for reading this story again. Means a lot!!
Touching remembrance of the last hours from Severus' and Morgaine's point of views; knowing there's a sequel helps the open wounds:-)
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
I sometimes wonder why I have been so cruel to my two most favourite characters ...
The air is so heavy with the foreboding events to come, one can feel their dread and endurance of the dubious future
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
I had forgotten all about this chapter :O
Another great moment in the chain of events to highlight with their backstory filling in the gaps - lovely; I'm with Sev regarding the loss of Black - nothing, but appreciate that Morgaine was there to help comfort Remus who feels the loss, as well as her healing and sharing herself with Severus:-)
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
I read OotP in a book club. There were two groups, those who mourned Black's death and were terribly upset and then those who hoped he'd go to hell. I was totally blasée. I think they didn't like me there :P
Response from nagandsev (Reviewer)
Hahaha! I'd have proudly stood in front of you and taken all of the tomatoes being thrown at us;-) I won't even start to rant about SB - yes, him being the born provacateur against Sev, but also, why... oh forget it - getting all riled up and need to prepare for Monday morning; Bella did him in--moving on(I know, I'm terrible...aways grumpy Sunday evenings with the work week ahead - excuses, excuses - hehe!)
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
I feel you pain!
A powerful turning point for Morgaine, as well as for Severus and all others - great chapter!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
Thank you, once more, for re-reading this story. It's a pleasure to be on this journey with you.
Sweet chapter, powerful in its slower, intense dynamics; the fear of loving and rejection, again, and again - just won't quite go away...
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
Those two are both so afriad of admitting their love for each other. Neither wants to get hurt or hurt the other. They're wasting so much time...
Great chapter - love the emphasis on the reaction (and Morgaine helping to care for Sev) of the other DEs to Snape; the nasty jealous bullyboys that they are venting their frustration on him given the chance. Dynamic setting and planting the seeds for how Dumbledore will use Morgaine, as well as Lucius.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
And when I wrote this, I didn't even know that I was going to write a sequel. The muse works in mysterious ways some times.
I am loving this story...let me tell you! You write such passionate, emotional scenes..it blows me away! The end of this chapter was simply amazing! :)
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
Thank you very much! This is my first story and my "baby". I am very glad you're enjoying it and hope you'll like the rest as well./M
