A canon compliant version of the last fourteen years in the life of Severus Snape. Canon compliant but with one important difference: in this story, Severus Snape has a friend. A friend who offers him her hand in the dark and will stay by his side until the bitter end.

Reviews for Morgaine's Story
This was reccomended on Potter Place and I thought I'd have a look. I like your first chapter; it's well-written. But, But, But.... I made the mistake of reading your chapter summaries. I think you reveal too much. I feel disappointed after having read them, like I do when a book review or movie review reveals too much of the plot. I really encourge you change those chapter summaries so that they intrigue but do not tell too much of the tale, or to delete them altogether.

I enjoyed your story very much, although I didn't like your ending much better than Rowling's. I would like to read more of Morgaine and Severus.

Hi!I have to admit that I had my doubts about killing Severus. I'd really like to see him and Morgaine to 'live happily ever after'. Unfortunately, I had chosen the ending already in the epilogue.A friend of mine recommended writing a alternative ending to the story. Just might, one day.I am glad that you enjoyed the story. Thank you very mch for reading it and for leaving a final note.Cheers. /M

I clicked on this chapter with trepidation, knowing I would probably be bawling throughout the whole thing. Of course, you did not disappoint. I usually don't like reading stories where the hero dies, but your prologue prepared everyone for what was to come. I went in with my eyes open.I don't know what to say. You're story was so beautiful and wonderfully written. You really dug deep into the character's feelings, especially Severus' and gave us a look into his life and feelings that was sorely lacking in JKR's rendition. Of course, her story was about a school boy hero. There wasn't really much time or place for in-depth development of too many other characters.Thank you for a marvelous story. I'm really glad I ignored my usual dislike of sad ending stories and read this. It was worth every word.

Dear DebraI am very glad that you read and enjoyed the story. Even it it made you bawling in the end. (I have a knack for making people cry. Ask any of my students. Oh, I'm digressing...)I thank you vary much for being such a faithful reader and reviewer. Keep your eyes open, I have the feeling that I am not really done with Severus and Morgaine just yet.Cheers. /M

Reading this story has been like reading Romeo and Juliet. Or, more properly I suppose, West Side Story. Every time, every single time, I expect it to end differently. I expect some last minute miracle to give the star-crossed lovers their chance to live happily ever after. Poor Morgaine, what will become of her now?
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
Wow, having my story compared to Romeo and Juliet and West Side Story is high praise indeed. Thank you!Hm, poor Morgaine, what will become of her now? I have my plans for her. Keep you eyes open.Thank you very much for reading. I hope you enjoyed it.Cheers. /M

Lovely reunion, but heartbreaking that they cannot be as carefree as they deserve. Now Morgaine understands, and so do we, what Severus had gone through before as the Order's spy. You brought out the pathos in Severus very well.

Another marvelous chapter, I'm surprised that the Order is trusting of Morgaine. But this may cause others to look at Snape's actions under a different light.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
I really hope that Lupin is putting in some good words for Morgaine. Or maybe the Order 'trusts' Morgaine as they once 'trusted' Snape: they were told that she/he is trustworthy. And Morgaine is after all Dumbledore's great-granddaughter.Thank you very much for reading and leaving a note. Makes me very happy to know that you are enjoying this.Stay tuned, the next chapter's in the queue. /M

And again, Dumbledore let it happen. That says it all, doesn't it? Found and lost again is right. Will these two ever get together. I assume they will, but it's like they're writing a roller coaster.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
He is not only headmaster, he is a puppet master, too, out dear Dumbledore. You'll just have to go on reading to find out if S and M will get together, won't you. But I am sure you will. Thanks for being such a faithful reader and reviewer. Cheers. /M

These two are having their share of ups and downs. Mrogaine needs to tell Severus what she's up to.

Isn't it amazing! Two fairly intelligent adults, totally incompetent when it comes to communication. It's pathetic ;-) Cheers. /M

That ending was incredibly sad. She was very selfless to let him have his 'freedom.' However, I think he would have rather been tied to her forever.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
Maybe 'giving Severus his freedom' was not as easy as Morgaine thought. Maybe they are tied to each other. Cheers. /M

Too bad she has to return to Iceland. Would she choose not to if she had a choice?
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
What do you think? You've known Morgaine for a while now. It would be interesting to read your thoughts. Cheers. /M
Response from debjunk (Reviewer)
I think she has a strong sense of dedication to those she loves, so even though she would not choose to return to Iceland, she does. Hopefully, what she learns there will be useful in the future, especially with stupid, full of himself, Lucius now in the picture. (What's not to love about him, right?)
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
How did Dumbledore put it so nicely? 'Once she had taken someone in her heart, she will never let them go again.' Severus might just have made a friend for life.Yeah, dear, dear Lucius. Sigh ... couldn't resist adding him to the story. He makes such a goody baddie :-)

Ah, too bad they didn't speak of what they felt. Dumbledore's such a great actor, you know? He pretends to care and ensnares you into his plot. And you never know it means death until it's just too late. Although I enjoy stories where Dumbledore is seen in a fatherly light, I think this Dumbly is much more in character to his 'real' self.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)

'My grandmother used to say that a friend is somebody who takes a step closer towards you and holds your hand when everybody else turns their back on you.’ A beautiful line that started the tears that went on through the rest of this chapter.

Excellently written, from Severus' shock at Morgaine finding out about his being a Death Eater, to Morgaine's actual thoughts on the matter.

Wow, that was intense. Ugh, that Voldemort is awful, imeriousing a girl to attack her mother. Now Dumbledore, he's just a jerk. Typical of him to not give Severus a heads up. Just bumble your way through, you'll figure everything out eventually. Dork.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)

Typical Snape behavior, giving a complement, even if it's only in his head, quickly followed by reservations. At least he admits it would be fun for him to test her.

Nicely done. He is one that would hide and nurse his hurts in silence. Broodingly. Very Heathcliff of him, isn't it? Good progression and timing. I am waiting for more avidly.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
Good morningThank you for your kind words. You're right, it is very Heathcliff-ish of Severus to hide and brood, preferably down in the dungeon with a bottle of firewhisky. It's amazing how such an intelligent person lacks communication skills. Thanks for being such a faithful reader and reviewer. More is on the way.Cheers. /M
