A canon compliant version of the last fourteen years in the life of Severus Snape. Canon compliant but with one important difference: in this story, Severus Snape has a friend. A friend who offers him her hand in the dark and will stay by his side until the bitter end.

Born: in the glorious year of 1979, when Dio joined Black Sabbath and Peter Pettigrew started passing on information to the Dark Lord
Colours: black, green, silver
Passions: writing, cooking, baking, witchcraft
Obsessions: quite a few, chocolate for one (hi Lupin!), but mainly a certain Potions master and a blond DE.

OK, I'm just getting started with this...late to the party, I know. And I'm thinking I may Kindleize it and save it for the plane--it looks delicious.

You have no idea how much it made me smile to see that someone still reads this story! I very much hope you will like it! /M

Back in the pool with Severus, you!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
Sorry! Going! hehe
Can't really blame her for fleeing. *sniff* I would have probably done the same thing in her situation. All her good memories were laced with the bitterness of Severus' loss.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
I would have run, too. Right to the gates of hell, if necessary. Thanks for the shinies! /M
Sorry it took me so long to read this. It is exquisite. Thank you for your genius.

Hi Kyria! How nice to see you again! Hope you're doing fine.Cheers. /M
What a chapter to return to! Wow! So much went on. I can't tell you I sympathised with Snape, to have said that and to think that she hadn't heard it... heartbreaking. I am so glad that you eased that by getting her to respond. I was impressed by Snape's generosity, but I guess that it was just a sign of his readiness to accept everything, I think. Why should he be jealous or wary of Lupin when he knew deep down how he felt... how Morgaine felt. I suppose that was the sign that he had finally found the strength when he was at his weakest.Great chapter. Glad to be back :)

. I've missed you! This chapter is one of my favourites. I think it was time for Severus to get over his schoolyard grudge for Lupin and accept the friendship Lupin and Morgaine share. And of course, it was very much time for Severus and Morgaine to say the three magic words. They need each other, and the love they share. Thanks, as always. /M

I sniffled. Very rarely do I cry, but that chapter set me off... got a pile of soggy kleenex here! Superb chapter... can't describe it.

Is it possible? Is Snape starting to see sense? I have yet to come across any part of a chapter that doesn't appeal or interest... great work!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
Thank you for your kind words.Good thing Lupin was there to talk some sense into Snape.Cheers. /M

Oh, dear! Intriguing chapter. Just when things go right, they start going wrong.

I'm mean, aren't I ;-) Needed to keep the two of them apart for a while. You'll find out why.Cheers. /M

That was an intense chapter, and I loved every word. You wrote Lucius incredibly well, and elaborated upon Morgaine's Sytherin qualities in a way that made me look at her a little differently... and possibly from a little further away... lol.Snape's reaction was priceless, and I hope that Morgaine sees his absence as a sign of his dirstress rather than a snub of her.Brill chapter. Thanks!

I had a lot of fun writing Lucius, that slime bag ;-)Glad you liked - and understood - Snape's reaction. Thanks for reading and leaving a note. /M

Well, another beautiful chapter; it's almost becoming painful to only have the time and energy to read a few chapters at a time. I'll be back tomorrow for another couple...

Okay,I said that I'd stop doing it, but I couldn't help it then! I just had to shout at them... good job that the kids are asleep! Just itching to bang their heads together.

Giving him a choice? I'm pondering that... Spell or not, he was hers, and she was his. It's as plain as Snape's big nose. Did she have to do the spell or was that just something that she could have done given the moon and her maidenhead breaking? Bear with me please, I'm a biochemist by choice and passion, and as a result, I get easily confused by the concepts of Magic. Your author's notes are incredibly helpful (please don't stop writing them! lol).A beautiful chapter, thank you :)
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
Biochemist, eh? Oh my ;-)Okay, it's an old superstition that if a man deflowers a woman when the New Moon reveals itself, the men will forever be linked to the woman. No actual spells are needed, it's Old Magic. So, given that Morgaine has grown up with Old Magic, she should know that. And in the morning, she felt guilty about it and thought she could break the spell by leaving before Severus wakes up.But remember what I said in chapter 16: All you do comes back to you. Now the spell has rebounded on her.Ah, magic is complicated ;-)How's For Him coming, by the way? Miss Crazy Bella!Cheers. /M

Quite a staggering concept: 'For all you do comes back to you.' I've come across it in several forms over the years, but somehow, your reference has made the greatest impact. Forgive me for possibly diminishing the warning in that and possibly missing the point, but I'm taking that as something to bolster and strengthen an intent and a goal. I need something to come to me at the moment and make some hard work worthwhile. I apologise if that is not what you meant and will wait for the wisdom of it to be revealed.Thank you for another wonderful chapter.

As Severus said about the potion: It will enable the brewer to bewitch the mind of any person. For it to work, the brewer has to pour his or her very soul into it. This will irrevocably link the brewer and the drinker. You must be aware of that. One of the basic laws of witchcraft is that any spell you cast will reflect upon you. If I do something good, good things will happen to me as well. If I do something bad, I will have to pay for it.So that was what I meant. Liked your interpretation though.Cheers. /M

So many obstacles and struggles... and it seems that they're making most of them for themselves.

Lovely chapter. Isn't it odd how life follows little cycles?
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
Yes, it is rather odd. So one needs to be rather careful about one's actions. One day, there might just be consequences.I'm re-reading my chapters as you read them the first time. Quite fun actually.Cheers. /M

That chapter helped to clear up some things that I had been assuming... I don't know why, but I had thought that Snape was older. Great chapter, thank you.

You know... that was quite nasty of her in a way. She let it be known that Snape, in some part, terrified her. After all that time together, and she lets that be known in such an undeniable way: that she fears some aspect of him and that she knows his past. Quite a way to dig the knife in deeper about what she knows and the impact it has had. Kind of makes it even harder for Snape to begin to explain, and how can they start to work together again after that?Don't get me wrong, I'm upset for Morgaine too: her guardian the same as those who had made her and her mother suffer. It just seems a rather unforgettable way of getting it out in the open.Excellent chapter!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
I'm mean sometimes, aren't I? But then again, how would it had looked like if Morgaine had just walked up to Severus and said: 'Oj, guess what I found out about you?'Severus and Morgaine feel pretty much the same things now: they are both disappointed, hurt and scared that the other one will not forgive them. And both of them are too proud and too scared to say: 'Hey, let's talk about this.'Keep on reading, and you'll see that there is hope.Once more: thank you. /M

Another lovely chapter. Isn't it odd how we can often mistake abilities and thoughts for intents and nature? I enjoyed this chapter; it was well written and kept the suspense high, and the agonising that all of them must have been going through in order to protect Morgaine was captured incredibly well. Thanks for the story

Okay... that was interesting. Is this ability just one that she shares with Severus? The actual hearing of voices, that is.

So, Snape gets bad headaches at the New Moon, and Morgaine 'hears' his voice more clearly at the New Moon? Good chapter, thanks.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Morgaine's Story)
The nights of the Full Moon and the New Moon are times of great magical power. Weird things can happen during those nights.I just realised how short those first chapters are. They're getting longer, I promise.Cheers. /M

Well, that was interesting. I almost felt sorry for Snape in that he had a student that he couldn't fault--his nightmare--at least Hermione had been a know-it-all, but the headache gets my complete sympathy. That last bit was a good hook, and I'm willingly caught.

Response from sweetflag (Reviewer)
First question: how will Snape feel when he finds out that Remus has taught his new student? The suspicion was later clarified when you said that she could share his thoughts, but I had wondered if Snape let his discomfort show enough for her to deduce that he needed a headache cure
