A canon compliant version of the last fourteen years in the life of Severus Snape. Canon compliant but with one important difference: in this story, Severus Snape has a friend. A friend who offers him her hand in the dark and will stay by his side until the bitter end.

Born: in the glorious year of 1979, when Dio joined Black Sabbath and Peter Pettigrew started passing on information to the Dark Lord

Sneaky. Lucius is her father isn't he? And he doesn't know. But I am only guessing. Still loving it.

Good idea, but no. I'm not sure how much older than Severus Lucius is (2 or 3?), and as Severus is 10 years older than Morgaine, Lucius would have been a very young father.But I like the idea.Cheers./M

Somewhere I read that Lucius is at least 6 or 7 years older than Severus and probably more like 10 years older. I think if your check Mugglenet or the Lexicon sites they give dates for Malfoy. I think there was a story or maybe canon that said when Severus was sorted into Slytherin Lucius was a prefect.

I just had to go and check. Acc. to HPL, Lucius was born 1954. So he´s 16 years older than Morgaine ... hm ... gives me bad ideas ;-)

Excellent chapter. I'm so glad you realise that Remus was the best of the Marauders. He is a truly tragic hero. Kind and gentle yet cursed with transforming into a beast. He is my second favourite. Thank you.

I know that it s half a year ago since you wrote this review, and it annoys me very much that I haven't answered it yet. ;-)
woaw............What a wonderful story! Such sweet and innocent love. I loved the way it developed between the two of them. How Severus is in complete denial for so long. Poor man... And how strong she is! How many wouldn't just have turned away and let him battle his deamons alone. But no.Such a shame she doesn't get to keep him (I will read the sequel ASAP!) but I'm sure she'll never forget him - and it seems he's still 'around' to make sure she'll survive. I really like how you incoperated scenes from the books, how easily you fit Morgaine into them, without her being 'in the way'! I wonder if the sequel will tell us more about Morgaine's family. About her mum and maybe even WHICH D.E. is her dad...? And maybe just a hint about her great-grandmother?! Did I mention that I love the length of your chapters? Long enough to cover everything, but short enough to keep me wanting more and more and more... (good thing there were 35 chapters and a sequel! ♥ )

I am very, very glad you liked this story. It was my first, my baby, if you will, and Morgaine became a dear friend over the years. That's why I couldn't just leave her like this. Hope you will enjoy the sequel

Love the tempo and dark atmosphere closing in on everyone - things really start excelerating for all involved; Morgaine's declaration and acceptance of him and his past is so poignant - highlighting this time before Voldy reappears

Great chapter; love the canon parallel - poor Sev... always the underdog, undervalued, overlooked - glad you've given this more dignity - it was a hard read in canon JKR having him raving so - this was more true to the DH Sev, the sacrificed Sev - the real Sev

I remember that this was the first scene when I was really angry with JKR. It was also the first time I felt really, really sorry for Severus. Actually, the idea of writing a fic where Severus has a true friend (the idea of writing fan fic at all) was born while I was reading PoA. :-)

Yeah, for me too *shuddering* it really stood out that she'd gone out of her way to be deliberately, unnecessarily cruel, for me OOC even for who she had portrayed so far, at that point, depicting him so out of control and revolting... Your story more than makes up for her shortcomings!
Again, love the intertwining of canon; and you know I'm big softy when Remus is around *waggling eyebrows*; love the struggle within Severus, and the ending with a possible promise...

I really enjoyed their *coming* together again, and had forgotten how Morgaine had escaped big, bad Lucius' paws.... Then, with her last inner monologue shared - things are coming back to me... and I believe it's safe to hate Dumbles again, full-heartedly - hehe! Seriously, the ending of this chapter -

Just love all of the intertwining of canon - yum! Had forgotten about Fluffy! Poor sev, but at least something wonderful came out of it - the walls have came down, once again! Great chapter!
