Age 59, I have been a Severus and Alan Rickman fan for a couple years. I post SS/HG stories.
I went to NY last week to see Seminar (Jan 4, 20012) It was wonderful.
Shades of Severus in his character and his house. I was priviledge to see Alan up close an personal after the play.
Reviews for A Ghost of a Chance
He's being so patient. Sigh. It would have been nice if Percy could have managed to stay with his family. They still need to talk to Draco, I think.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of A Ghost of a Chance)
Yes, he is. Well I htinkk he's with family but still is sneaky... I did not persure that. These chapters where written over a year ago. We have LOTs of other things to deal with... serious things and some very fun chapters...Severus will talk to Draco comming up soon :)
Glad to see Hermione and Severus work through at least part of her issues. Still a ways to go, but progress none-the-less.It seems Scorpious is still somewhat afraid or at least in awe of Severus - let's hope it stays that way! It kind of makes me wonder why he continues to go after Hermione, but now isn't interested in going after Severus despite Severus's roll in destroying Voldemort and him now being a visible target?Looking forward to seeing how the potions class goes!
Response from gersknightlady (Author of A Ghost of a Chance)
Yes, they got a start. I thik there will be ups and down as time goes on. I think Scorpius fears Severus or maybe respects him in some way. He admires the mans knowledge in a subject he really excells in.I think he still sees Hermione as a Mudblood and doesn't really have to ahve a reason to ahte her. He's just parroting his grandfather whom he loves.Thank you for your review. :)
Ah, glad that Hermione came to her senses and went after Severus! I can't help but think that her fear of possibly having pushed him away helped her to make that decision to let him make love to her again. I liked how you had the lovemaking scene go, all slow and gentle...about the only thing more that Severus could have done for her to keep her feeling safe would have been to let her be on top and controlling what happened to her. But he paused and kept seeking her permission to continue which served the same purpose for her psyche.Look forward to more of Scorpius and hopefully some father/son bonding between him and Draco (if Severus can just find and talk to Draco about it)! Draco should know where his son is coming from, he felt many of those things growing up as a child himself and can relate. If anyone can get through to Scorpius regarding growing up with Lucius' expectations, it's Draco!Great chapter, great hard-working beta to keep them coming fast! Thank you both!
Response from gersknightlady (Author of A Ghost of a Chance)
Thank, I'm very glad you liked it. Your right being on top might have worked, I thought the side by side was another thing that would work. Gentelness and listenting carefully to her gave her some control over the situation.Scorpius will play a sigfificant part as we go through a number of future chapters. Severus will seek out Draco though Draco isn't in this story a great deal. I never thought of Draco as a strong character he was a sniveling frightened rich kid. But in my story he does have the respect of his peers. He has risen above what his father was.I am trying to egt the chpaters out as fast as possibe. My beta is working hard since I have her doing other stories as well. She never complains. She's the best.Jeannie
Beautiful chapter. Too funny about Poppy showing up... LOL.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of A Ghost of a Chance)
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed that scene :)Thank you for your review.
I liked this chapter it moves along nicely. Scorpious has a lot of deep hatred in him and really does need to see the horrors that Voldomort did to their world maybe that will wake him up, liked the part where Severus had a talk with him. The love scene between Hermione and Severus was very sweet and gentle, I know some people might say its too soon but after all the crap they had gone through I don't see why not and Hermione wanted it. I guess you would say it was part of the healing process at least they are talking and thats something.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of A Ghost of a Chance)
Thank you. I appreciate your support. I really wanted to move on with the story and I think my readers waited long enought for them to get together. I wanted their first time to be very gentle and something that wouldn't threaten Hermione in anyway. They still ahve some adjustments to go through but they are well on their way now. At least they are together. She just realized she needed Severus more than she needed to allow what Lucius did to keep them apart. Thanks for the review.
That is one damaged child. I'm glad Severus and Hermione found their way together again.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of A Ghost of a Chance)
Damage can be repaired :) Thank you, they will always find their way back. Thank you for your review.
Hey there. I am joining this story well into the game, but I have been following too many things recently, and just couldn't start another. I have not reviewed yet as I sort of just read this in one chuck and didn't want to stop to think.I am really enjoying this. Even though there has been some angst and drama, it is still pretty lighthearted, and I am eating that up right about now. The concept of the spell placed on Severus, and his state of limbo until Hermione finds him was great, as was the means to peel all of the layers away from the spell. For some reason, I always love stories where Poppy and Severus have a close relationship and I was glad to see that here. This is a softer version of Severus than we usually see, but after all, he surely appreciates his life and takes nothing for granted after what could have been for him. And as always, I have such a love/hate feeling towards Dumbledore. I think he always has good intentions and wants good things for the people he cares about. His methods sometimes leave a lot to be desired.I am pleased that Hermione has worked through her issues in being intimate with Severus. Not that I think for a minute that she is fully over it, but now that they have this first encounter under their belts, it will be a lot easier to continue in the bedroom as a couple. What were they thinking letting Scorpius back in the school?!?! I should feel a bit sorry for him as he is being shunned by this classmates, and afterall he is mostly a product of his upbringing, I'm sure. Still, I'm having a hard time finding any sympathy for him.I haven't paid attention to how quickly this is updating, but I hope they come frequently. Look forward to more soon!
Response from gersknightlady (Author of A Ghost of a Chance)
Thank for joining the reviewers. I'm so glad that you are enjoying this story. I have been writing on it nearly a year now. It has 54 chapters so far. I'm posting them as fast as my beta gets them to me (I'm working her hard, she's a gem) and the list will allow me too. There always has to be angst and drama but your right I don't like to much of that. I enjoy a happy story as well.I feel the same way about Dumbledore. Yes they still have a few rough edges to get through, maybe I don't dwell on it as much as I should have.Severus and Hermione will deal with Scorpius and I hope my readers will like what I do with him.Thank you so much for the huge review. It is very much appreciated.
This was a great chapter. I do hope that Scorpius can overcome his hate. I am glad that Hermione let Severus close again.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of A Ghost of a Chance)
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it and didn't think it was too soon for them. She realized she wanted him more than she wanted to hang on to the fear of being touched. We will deal with Scorpius as the story goes along.Thank you for your review.
Can't think of much to say except good chapter as always. ^_^
Response from gersknightlady (Author of A Ghost of a Chance)
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
OMG! I can't beLIEVE you did that. That cliffie is gut wrenching, and I'm feeling so bad for both of them right now. I do understand that delayed reaction in these kind of cases is a frequent thing, but it has to be agonizing for each of them in their own way.I'm really looking forward to the next chapter! I need for this to be resolved as much as Severus and Hermione do... well, maybe not as much as they need it, but I sure would like to see it. Thanks of this marvelous and realistic chapter. Well done, my friend!Beth
Response from gersknightlady (Author of A Ghost of a Chance)
Sorry once in a while a brilliant Cliffe comes along LOLIts gets resolved in the enxt chapter. My Tpp Beta said she would try to do it before her vacation but then I don't know when that was. She may already be gone.I hope it will be done soon I was 8 on the list last night.Thank you, I'm glad I got it right. Everyone seems to feel I did well. But seriously I dont want to drag this all out so we will continue on with the story...I like happy stories at least for the hero and heroine.Thank beth,Jeannie
I'm so happy that everyone is all right, and that Lucius is in Azkaban where he can't hurt Severus or Hermione... or continue to poison Scorpius' mind. It seems that ever since Hermione and Severus had their talk a few days ago– when Severus told her he couldn't promise her they would "disappear into some backwoods life. I can’t spend my life battling evil"– well, it seems as if the joy and security she had felt after her rescue has just flown away. Now she is distant, and poor Severus doesn't have a clue why... only that Lucius actions had changed her... or maybe it's fear of Scorpius. I'm sure she remembers Lucius' threat to Severus before the Aurors took him away. It's enough to give anyone the shivers.I'm off to see what the next chapter has in store! 8^)Beth
Response from gersknightlady (Author of A Ghost of a Chance)
Yeah she can reach out for a bit and then she pulls back. She's really mixed up. I think she will relaise wahts important. There is Scprpius to deal with and we will see what happens there. I hope people will like what I do with that. :)Jeannie
Sigh, rape situations are so complicated and differs by case to case. I guess that's why a raped girl said before that when you're being raped it's better to just imagine that you're not being raped at all at the time then just move on with life and that you did no wrong. I guess she's a pretty strong girl and is the live and forget type. Anyways, can't wait for the next chapter. I wonder what's with Scorpius these days.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of A Ghost of a Chance)
Yeah each person is different some push away some hold tighter. Some try one then do the other. Hermione wasn't raped so maybe she will relaise whats important to her and that Lucius isn't worthy of her trying to push those who love her away. Sorry that may have made no sense LOL
Poor Hermione and poor Severus, too! It's been a very traumatic experience for both of them, but if they can just muddle their way through it together they will be even closer than before. Poppy's tea additive might help, but only if Hermione is dedicated about using it. The main problem with supplements which help the psyche is that patients often don't use them they way they should--they either take more than prescribed, or as soon as they start to feel even a little bit better they decide that they don't need it anymore and stop.I do hope that Severus goes out and starts to build a life for himself while Hermione recovers from her ordeal; I agree that it will be good for both of them, and helping Filch will give Sev a good excuse to lurk about and keep an eye on Scorpius! Maybe young Albus can start up "Severus' Army" to help out...
Response from gersknightlady (Author of A Ghost of a Chance)
It is tough but they will work it through. Soem people push those they love away and other hold them tighter, either one is valid. I really didn't deal too much with her supplement, I do understand all that, not having ever experienced it but I'm well read. Severus will begin to do some things around there and deal with Scorpius in a way that may surprise people. I hope that yoou all will find my solution interesting as it [alys out.Thank you so much for all your well thought out words.Youe are a great reviewer.
Response from indigo_rose (Reviewer)
Awww, thank you! Since I don't contribute actual stories myself, I figure the least I can do is leave some juicy reviews for those of you who do write! I tried my hand at fanfiction a long long time ago, and I know that feedback makes it all worthwhile.
I feel so badly for Hermione, but pushing Severus away isn't going to make anything better. I just hope the potion Poppy gave Hermione for her tea starts to help her.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of A Ghost of a Chance)
No its not and I think she iwll figure that out. I think Hermione will see she needs Severus to help her through this all.Thank you for your review.
Glad to see you have her letting the emotion come out gradually from her repression. Quite believable in her rejection of Severus based on her newfound fear. He was forewarned by Poppy, but it still hurts to bear it.Looking forward to seeing how they work through it!
Response from gersknightlady (Author of A Ghost of a Chance)
Thank you, I hope the solution will be believable. Sometimes it take the thought of losing more to realise what you have and how much you need it.Thank you for your review.
I am glad that you are not playing down the trauma that Hermione went through. Very good imagry. I can feel the pain that they are both going through.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of A Ghost of a Chance)
I'm trying to not play it down, but I alo like to keep a story moving. Thank you. I read a lot and have listened to people who ahve gone through these sort of things. I hope you will enjoy how it works it's way out.Thank you for your comments
I had to do a paper on sexual assault for my Criminal Justice degree and you've covered it quite well. Hermione's feelings and actions are spot on. Did you do a lot of research for this?
Response from gersknightlady (Author of A Ghost of a Chance)
I didn't research it. I have had friends who have gone through this sort of thing in their lives and I listen well. I see losts of Tv and read a lot. Thank God this has not touched my life in reality for me but I can imagine how it all might feel. Thank you for your comments. I appreciate that I have described it well.Gers.
Damn they have a rough road ahead of them. Those last words she said to Severus really stung, I don't know if she will regret those words or how He will treat her after that. They obviously need to be there for each other, maybe it would be better he got another room but close enough to Hermione. I hope things get better.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of A Ghost of a Chance)
some times somethig happens that so shocks a person they decide they need something more that they don;t need it. Maybe it's not realistic but I believe they can work this out.Thank you so much for this review.

That was quite wicked to do to your loyal readers. You built the tension so nicely and it seemed to be heading to healing, but then all of a sudden to stop at such a critical point with nothing beyond was indeed cruel. I look forward to your resolving this difficulty next chapter. Thanks for posting, JoAnne
Response from gersknightlady (Author of A Ghost of a Chance)
Sorry thats the nature of a cliff hanger and I don't do that very often I don't think. I think with in the next 5 days or so the next chapter will be posted. I think my readers will enjoy it very much. Thank you for the review. It is very much appreciated.Jeannie
I love this story so far. In fact this is the first time I am leaving a review on this site. I wanted to encorage you to keep going with your fic. It is unique and exciting and I love the fact that it does not drag points out and keeps a good pace. I hope you keep posting it. Take Care!
Response from gersknightlady (Author of A Ghost of a Chance)

VERY GOOD CHAPTER THANK YOU.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for your review,
Oh dear. The trauma's there and possibly some of the doubt is creeping back too now that the curse is broken completely and they're finally "alone." It seems to be overwhelming her - hopefully no mental breakdown in the works.Looking forward to seeing what happens next!
Response from gersknightlady (Author of A Ghost of a Chance)
Yes, the trama is there. She is havng a hard time. She will deal with it in this next chapter. It's a tough one.I just put the next chapter in the Queue. So hopefully we won;t have to wait to long.Thank you so much for your thoughts. They are very much appreciated.
Just when they think things are improving. Oh, well.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of A Ghost of a Chance)
They will get through it, I think in ch 19 we get to have some fun :)Thank you for your comments
So. They get things settled with Lucius and now have to deal with Ron? That's just evil. Good job. ^_^
Response from gersknightlady (Author of A Ghost of a Chance)
I think actually Scorpius is the next person they deal with. Ron will come here and there as the story goes along.Thank you I'm glad yoou liked it. :)
This is another awesome chapter. I am glad that Severus and Harry can relate as adults and let by-gones be by-gones. I hope Hermione can move past her terror of intamincy.
Response from gersknightlady (Author of A Ghost of a Chance)
Thank you so much, I always think that Severus and Harry would get past their dislike of eachother if they had a chance to realate after the war. Hermione will work through some things as time goes on.I very much appreicate your review.
