It's possible in wartime that madness eventually comes for us all. Yet some madness might be carefully purchased; some sanity knowingly sacrificed. This story is such a tale.

I'm a 53 year old woman who wrote fanfic for years and adored doing it. While I lost the heart for fanfic after book 7 came out, I am still writing, and can be found at http://julianneqjohnson.com
You can find my published work on Amazon under the name Julianne Q Johnson.
Reviews for The Price of Madness
Ahhhhh! This chapter, while lovely, didn't answer any of my questions! Must be off to find out more ...
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)
I'm kinds Slytherin that way. ;)
Uh-oh. What the heck is up with Snape? Is he really crazy? Was something done to him to make him crazy? Is he just that good of an actor? I suppose I will find out in due time. I do feel for Draco having to be his keeper.I was glad to see Hagrid. He is such a likeable character and I think he sounded just fine here.
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)
Hagrid is one of my favorite characters, and I have a devil of a time getting his accent right. Thanks!
part of me is thinking he's not quite sane yet, but its so so nice to see this relationship finally gel even more. _sighs happily-Thanks for updating. =)
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)
I don't think anyone can go through all that and not be changed somewhat. That's my take on it anyway. Thanks for reading!
I know I've been reading this fic. I know I've been reviewing it. But dang if I cannot find a record of my review anywhere on Ash or TPP. Because I remeber this fic. Yes I do. I remeber reviewing it. So clearly I must have been reading it elsewhere or you keep updating when I am busy and I miss it. But this fic is tracked here.Needless to say in this chapter Sev seems to come back to his senses. Finally! Someone has commonsense in a fanfic. I shall have to hit the next button.
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)
I'm quite a fan of common sense. Of course I'm also quite a fan of farce...so one never knows what one will get with me! This fic is posted somewhere else, but it's 2:30 in the morning, and I can't remember where...Thanks!
I hope I've already reviewed this chapter (apologies if I haven't), but I can't remember doing so.
Things are progressing, aren't they? I liked the conversation about the banks, and I think my favorite line in the chapter is "Forget Switzerland." Lol! Good work, there!
Writing was top notch as always, but so short! I really want more. Am I demanding too much? This story is so addictive that... *sigh*
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)
Lol! I liked the bank bit myself, so i'm happy that you got a kick out of it as well. I'm hoping to get the next chapter sorted out this week, so keep your fingers crossed! Thanks! :)
AWWWWWWWWWWWW! /sniffle
Wonderful!

Thank you! :)
I'm a personal subscriber to the silent Expelliarmus/verbal AK theory. It just makes so much sense given the emphasis that was placed on non-verbal spells in HBP, added to the fact that we know that one really has to mean an Unforgiveable for it to work... as Harry found out in the Ministry with Bella. So, I love where you're going with this! That said, though... screw the plotline - I can't wait for more Severus/Hermione interaction!!!!
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)
It was the huge emphasis on silent magic that made me wonder about it. JKR hit silent magic pretty hard in that book, there has to be a reason for it, in my opinion. Lol! We'll have to at least get some more smoochies in one of these days! Thanks! :)

Would love to read more soon!

More as soon as I can manage it! Thanks! :)
Oh lordy, now you have me wondering!! It was very sad to re-read Cedric's death (he's m'boy), but you make a very interesting point there, Pook. Hmm ... can't wait to see where this one goes!
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)
Poor Cedric, we hardly knew him! Thanks, sweetie! More soon, i hope! :)
So whatever happened to Hermione's parents after the attack on their home? Weren't they staying at Hogwarts with Minerva?
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)
Yes, but like JKR with Crookshanks, I only write about them when it adds to the story! ;)

I have just read all 29 chapters in one sitting, skipping uni to do so. I certainly hope we are not left abandoned. I will pray for your muse to kick into high gear so that this great story will be finished!
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)
It was abandoned, but now it's not.

Thanks for the udpate!!! I'm looking forward to seeing where you are going with their pensieve studies. I hope we get to "hear" more Severus dialog in the next chapter. I love all his "whoring" around!
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)
Lol! I am having a ball writing mad Severus. I'm glad that you are getting a kick out of him too. Thanks! :)
Yay! An update on TPP. And another great chapter! I hope Hermione and Harry find some more clues when they go into the pensive again. And "knee-high whores" had me lmao. I just love Severus' foul language. (a weird compliment really, but: you write some funny profanities, Pooka )Thanks for the update. Can't wait for more!
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)
Lol! I'm having a bit too much fun with the whole whore thing, but I can't resist it! And I think that Harry and Hermione just might find a few more clues... ;) Thanks! :)
I reckon Harry should grab Voldie, then portkey him into the room of love, he would fry!
I missed that, when did Hermione figure it out?
LOL, snogging postmortems with your best friends !
Oops, Hermione shouldn't have called him sir!
Umm, Did he have Dumbledore rattling around in his head as well?
Yep, best to fix the damage BEFORE you resurrect him, good thinking Sev!
oh dear, now how much trouble can an in-love, powerful, intelligent , but completely bonkers wizard get into?
So I guess, if you are a goblin, polishing the tracks is NOT a good thing?
I like trollop. it's a cool name!
“Look, love,” Ron said sweetly, “you simply cannot start snogging our insane ex-Potions professor and expect us not to tease you unmercifully.” ROFL!
Very interesting. I can't wait for your next update! ~The Mistress
