I realize [and thank you for] the time and effort put into the creation of one chapter, much less the whole story ... but it is sooo depressing when I'm engrossed in reading and suddenly the chapter ends. {sigh}

Please, make more words. The ones I had are gone.

Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)

I just finished making a whole chapter full of words!  But don't get too excited, it has to swing by both betas before it's pretty enough to post.  And may I say that I get a secret little feeling of glee when folks say that the chapter ended with them wanting more.  That rocks!  Thanks!  :)

Interesting development - Bill's alarm at the parchment was particularly impressive.Couple of typos or Britpicks - I'm not sure which they are."knocking out a couple walls" - don't know if this is an error or an Americanism, but a Brit would say "a couple of walls"."I think that she’d be right good at it" - a Brit would say "very good at it" or "really good at it" - they wouldn't say "right good at it" unless they had a strong regional dialect which Bill doesn't have.

Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)

Thanks so much, and thanks for the suggestions!  :)

She had hoped that the day would bring her some answers. So far it had only brought her more questions. Hermione isn't the only one confused.  Am so glad there was an update to this fic; keep up the awesome story!

Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)

*giggle*  Yes, I am a naughty and mysterious Pooka!  But there are some answers coming soon, promise! Thanks, doll!  :)

Ach! That's it? I've been waiting and waiting for an update, and I'm done reading it far too soon. This story is exceptional, by the way.

Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)

Thanks so much!  More coming as soon as the betas have their wicked way with it.  :)

Aaaak!  I'm dying to find out what's up with the scroll, as well as why Bill took Hermione to the vault.  And I loved Severus exploding things.  Hurry with the next update!

Author's Response: I'm working on the next chapter even as we speak, and Bill has a lot to say in it!  Thanks!  :)

I am sure I am the millionth person to say this, but its true - the price of madness is the reward of getting to the end of this story. This chapter has once again taken me one step closer to sheer addiction. Too many questions, but too wonderful to give up.

Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)

How sweet!  I admit, this fic is more of a mystery than my usual, but I'm having so much fun!  There are some answers coming up in the next chapter, so that should be fun!  Thanks!  :)

Lovely new chapter, I have been waiting a long time for this:-) A lot of new questions though, hopefully you will reveal some of the secrets for us soon:-) Again, happy to see a new chapter to my wip story!!!

Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)

There will definitely be a few answers in the next chapter.  Not all of them, mind you!  but enough to be going on with.  Thanks so much!  :)

Hurray! An update! So sorry to hear about your betas. I'm glad that everyone is safe and sound. I am eagerly awaiting updates to see how this plays out!!!

Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)

Thank you and thanks on the behalf of my betas.  I was so relieved when they got out of that; I was worried about them.  I'm working on the next chapter even as we speak!  thanks!  :)

Excellent! “Go ahead,” she muttered peevishly, “blow yourself to bits. See if I care.”I could just see Hermione in my head at that particular moment, pouting, hands thrown up in the air, shaking her head in disbelief.I really love the shift in dynamics now that Severus is calling Hermione 'Trollop' instead of 'Whore'. It's a softer sounding word - I use it myself, more often than not when loosing my temper.YaY! Old fashioned cuss words.

Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)

I have to say that I find those old-fashioned cuss words downright charming.  They just don't have the punch that our comtemporary ones do.  And I couldn't have him calling her a 'whore' forever--just not very romantic! Lol!  Thanks!  :)

This is a really exceptional piece of fiction- my favorite by far of the WIPs I wait oh so patiently for.  Thanks!  I cannot wait to find out what Severus has written in Gobbledegook, nor to get more of his insults.  Endlessly amusing!

Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)

Well, I couldn't ask for a nicer compliment than that!  I'll do my best to update again soon.  Thanks!  :)

So delighted to find an update of this great story this morning! I'm supposed to be working - but I had to read this first - and glad I did; it's a brilliant way to start the day with a good story and a laugh: (“I am perfectly fine, trollop,” he said, brushing ineffectually at the front of his shirt. “Why wouldn’t I be?”“Why wouldn’t you be?” Hermione practically shouted. “You’ve blown up the lab!”)

Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)

*big grin*  There's no greater compliment to a fanfic writer than to have a reader who's playing hookey at work to read a chapter!  I so glad that you enjoyed it.  Thanks!  :)

Sigh... I can never get enough of your writing, but this chapter, I really need more of your writing!!  What's on the parchment?!  Vault 713 - is that still officially Dumbledore's vault? No hidden Philosopher's Stone residue still there, right? And Severus messed up a potion so bad that it went boom?? Detention for Potions-whore!  (preferably with Plaid-Whore...)

Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)

*giggle*  Woo-hoo, detention for me! :D  Yup, that was Albus' vault, but alas, no philosopher's stone leakage.  I couldn't resist Having Severus blow a few things up in the basement.  It makes me giggle, and besides, he's experimenting, things explode. :D  Thanks, June!  :)

yay update. i have been reading and rereading this story so i do not forget the story. let me just say another intreaging (i think thats how you spell it) chapter. i hope you update soon. i dont think i have enjoyed a story more than this one.

Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)

I'm so glad that you are enjoying it, and I'll try to update again soon.  Thanks so much!  :)

Awww, snogging is tops, in my book.  There is always room in the world for more Severus/Hermione snogging.  His matter-of-fact statement about "things explode" was hysterical.  I am, of course, dying to know what is written in Gobbletygook on the scroll in Hermione's purse.  I am happy to hear that you plan to update more often.  Thanks, Pook!

Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)

I'll do my best to keep my nose to the grindstone, or at least my fingers to the keyboard!  :D  I'm glad that you liked the "things explode" bit, as that's been kicking around in my head since forever andf I was excited to finally write it.  Bill's lips, and mine, are sealed about the contents of the scroll until next chapter. :x *giggle*  Thanks for the lovely review!  :)

Love it.  The watching is an interesting trend.  Loved the "blownupsnape".  Questions, questions, questions.  Whatever shall we do with you.  As long as we don't have toooo long to wait . . .

Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)

BlownupSnape cracks me up!  Glad you liked him too!  I solemnly promise to keep plugging away, so hopefully it won't be too long before I update.  Thanks so much!  :)

Abso-fricken-lutely fantabulous! (as expected) Now we're all just waiting on the next chapter. (Pook hard at work)Or else more than Severus' explosions will haunt your dreams. (can you tell I was in an emoticon mood?) ;-)

Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)

That torch wielding fan one never fails to crack me up, beta of my heart.  Now the one of me hard at work, the bit where it looks confused and frightened is about right. *giggle*  Thanks, love!  You rock!  :)

Interesting chapter.  Hmmm.  The vault where the Sorceror's Stone was?  Could it be Dumbledore's vault?  Or one kept by Hogwarts or the Order?  I love it!

   More snogging!!!

Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)

Yup, it was definitely the vault of the Sorceror's Stone, which I've always assumed belonged to Albus, though it could be a Hogwarts vault.  Lol, I'll try to get some more snogging in there.  Thanks!  :)

You can't leave us there! I want to knowwwwwww.

Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)

I'm afraid that Bill has sworn me to secrecy until the next chapter.  ;)  Thanks!  :)

Erk...... more questions than answers, Pook, and I loved the bit about Severus watching her sleep. Creepy, but in a nice way... kinda!

Looking forward to more!

Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)

He likes to watch... *giggle*  Thanks, honey!  Glad you liked it!  :)

Is it just me or did Sev seem a little more sane? Lovely chapter enjoyed every bit

Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)

If repeatedly blowing things up can be considered sane...then maybe yes.  *snicker*  He has certainly done better in a calm enviornment with folks around who don't say the wrong thing.  Thanks so much!  I'm glad that you enjoyed it!  :)

OHHH!!!  This is great!!  I think I see what Bill was getting at, and that you thought to use it is very clever!  Wonderful, and Severus being happy at Hermione's declaration of love was touching.  I'm still quite curious as to what he is on about with that potion.  Apparently it is a volitile substance, if it's blowing up the basement.  Ah, well, my detective skills are rusty, so I'll just have to wait for the big reveal.  Thanks for another fun chapter.

Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)

Yes, Severus is a very busy boy down in that basement, but he's told me he'll AK me if I tell anyone what he's up to. ;)  As for Bill, he'll have a lot to say next chapter.  Should be fun! Thanks so much!  :)

Now who could have used Dark Magic to empty that vault? I can't wait to here the explanation!

Response from PlaidPooka (Author of The Price of Madness)

Hmmm...who was that?  It seems vaguely familiar... :D  All kinds of explanations in the next chapter, so hopefully there won't be long to wait!  Thanks!  :)
