Oooooooooooooooooooh boy.Harry better cast one HELL of a shield charm when he gets through the Floo. >_______________________________<Feces, prepare to hit propeller. Dear gods, what a mess indeed.Well, maybe Harry will be able to talk some sense into Hermione, anyway... >.<
Response from neelix (Author of Hilltop Cottage)
lol.. well I'm hoping Harry's presence will avoid any really nasty fall-out, but you know it won't be pretty! lol!!
Oh, did you have to end it right there? You know, I stayed up past my bedtime because this little shiny was beckoning me to read it. I must admit at the beginning I thought we were in for another long wait for any resolution, but thank you, Harry, for ignoring what Hermione must have implied and going to berate Severus. I'm glad he did, because now they're finally on the right track. Can't wait for more.
Response from neelix (Author of Hilltop Cottage)
Yes, I had to end it there. You can't have all of your cake in one large slab, it's better for you in small bites.Plus I'm the wicked witch of the West and it's my job to make you suffer :)
Response from debjunk (Reviewer)
Oh, mummy, just one more piece of cake? Please? Your comment reminds me of a song I've sung in German where the mother springs upon her daughter that she's a witch. Mwahahahaha.
Aah! The suspense, it kills me! Severus seems to get the picture (though hopefully the child's age would have clued him in) even without the letter, but still. Can't wait!
Response from neelix (Author of Hilltop Cottage)
lol... he wouldn't have even thought she would have wanted his child after the way he treated her - he would automatically assume the child is not his, in fact, it probably wouldn't even cross his mind.
Finally! Thankyouthankyouthankyou!
Response from neelix (Author of Hilltop Cottage)
You're welcome love!
FINALLY! Point A is heading to point B! :)
Response from neelix (Author of Hilltop Cottage)
I know, seems to have taken forever but I hope you feel it's worth the wait.
Response from fuchsiasteerpike (Reviewer)
Oh for sure! Can't wait! :)
This didn't feel terribly angsty to me. Those two have needed a mediator for a long time, and while Harry might have been unlikely for the job, it is his. I'm glad that things went as smoothly as they did between the two men, actually. We may not be out of the woods in the angst department, but I am still feeling good that we are making progress. She is stupid for writing only one time, and then assuming that he was ignoring her, when the subject matter was something so important. He is an idiot for never once going to his house. Yes, he is preoccupied, but still. Incidentally, I hope he didn't have food in the fridge or a pet to feed :) Really, they are perfect for each other! If they were working together on a cure for Minerva, they probably would have found something already. She is going to kill them for being so stubborn. And they will deserve it :)
Response from neelix (Author of Hilltop Cottage)
lol... Imagine that. We get to the final chapter (number 50, for info), Minerva gets so cross she hexes the two of them into next week, and bye bye our golden twosome! How much would everyone hate ME then??? lmao!!
I'm glad Harry is offering help because Sev might
need support when he learns of the big news.
Response from neelix (Author of Hilltop Cottage)
That's exactly why he's going - goodness knows what Severus might do!
Response from snitchette (Reviewer)
I'd say goodness and YOU might what Sev could do... *wink*
Ah. I thought owls found the person. Maybe she sent it another way?
Response from neelix (Author of Hilltop Cottage)
well... sending it to Spinner's End, she would have sent it by owl but it would have gone via Muggle post - just like all of Severus's mail. It was explained in the first few chapters, I think.
Wow for such a smart guy, Severus can be really stupid sometimes LOL. Can't wait to read the next chapter!!
Response from neelix (Author of Hilltop Cottage)
He really can be - but then you said it - he's a guy!
Acckk!!! You sure know how to draw the story out. I am in such emotional suspense.
Response from neelix (Author of Hilltop Cottage)
GOOD! That was totally my aim - sign of a good story, that... happens to me all of the time. Now, I want tears later, ok?
Well, that went well. You're lucky I like you, Neelix, because you're really killing me, here. *Irons hands... I will be patient, I will be patient... all good things come to those who wait.*
Response from neelix (Author of Hilltop Cottage)
lol! You don't have to hurt yourself to be a loyal and obedient reader!! I promise you that all comes good in the next few chapters... honest!
lord have mercy! one misunderstanding after another. even if they ever get together won't it be like this always? great update and i can't wait for the next one. thanks and mucho smoochies
Response from neelix (Author of Hilltop Cottage)
I think eventually they'll iron out the creases! You'd hope so anyway!! Thanks for staying with us!
Those two living so long at such odds. Sigh.
Response from neelix (Author of Hilltop Cottage)
I know :( Not for much longer though!
Despite the fact that this doesn't actually end well, I am feeling better now that they got the initial reunion out of the way. It is actually probably better that things were said and then they parted. It will give them time to think on things. They are both smart. Surely they can piece things together. I think the pivotal piece of info was the following:Hermione bristled. ‘I have family?’ she snapped. ‘According to Sam Parker you do,’ Severus said, frowning. If she reviews the conversation after he is gone, that ought to give her a pretty big clue that he didn't get her letter. Of course, she probably already realizes, or she might not have been as anxious to get him back. As for him figuring things out, I would have thought he would have noticed a resemblance between he and the baby, but maybe he didn't get a close enough look. Or, he is just so convinced that there was another man, that he couldn't even consider that as an option.Still, I'm feeling good about things. It's been along time since you've heard me say that, huh :)
Response from neelix (Author of Hilltop Cottage)
Finally something positive! All I've been getting is frustration from people reviewing! lol!!!It sorts itself out over the next two chapters!
The reunion went better than I thought, all things considering. Too bad Severus didn't stick around long enough to actually see Donovan, cause if he did, he would know it was his son. But I know Hermione will tell him soon, because she said so herself that she can't work with him unless he knew he was a father. And with her crying, it shows she still loves him. I can't wait for the next chapter to post from the queue.
Response from neelix (Author of Hilltop Cottage)
I'm looking forward to the next chapter going up - it answers so many questions for everyone!
*face* *palm*Now I have to wonder if Hermione's going to put two and two together before Severus does. Given he's lacking ABOUT half the information, I would hope so!
Response from neelix (Author of Hilltop Cottage)
Rest assured that all is resolved in the next chapter!
Interesting news. these hcapters are too short. It really a joy to find this many new chapters, whoo hoo :)
Response from neelix (Author of Hilltop Cottage)
I know... It was important though.
LOL good that he can tell whos child Donovan is. I'm looking forward to more.
Well I have gotten to this point and now discover two or three more chapter already written. How did I miss the updates. I'm looking forward to them.
Oh, Severus. You big, insecure buffon.
Response from neelix (Author of Hilltop Cottage)
Isn't he though... sigh, poor Severus!
Response from fuchsiasteerpike (Reviewer)
But I feel as though we are REALLY close to them putting two and two together. Hopefully Luna won't have to draw him a picture. But then again, he is a man...
Bad author! You like playing with my nerves. At least he knows she has a baby and I'm sure it won't long for him, being so smart, to connect the dates. Then I imagine there will be a huge fight and after some communicating AND Minerva's recovery they can finally be happy. Well, you better *big scary eyes at you*
Response from neelix (Author of Hilltop Cottage)
*shudders under scary gaze... realises it's only pretend... * lol...Honestly, I would never let them come this far only to have an unhappy outcome!
my mother used to make me and my brothers hug till we could get along when we had hard feelings toward one another...personally I'd like to take Hermione and Severus by the backs of their necks and conk their heads together. you are frustrating me to the point of tears!! lol
Response from neelix (Author of Hilltop Cottage)
I'm really sorry but it is so necessary to the story! You have no idea how close I was to having them SNOG in this chapter, I had to really fight hard with myself!
Response from thedoughymatron (Reviewer)
well, I"m pretty sure that if he had stayed another 2 seconds it would have worked itself out in this chapter...I believe Hermione was running after him because she caught the "Sam parker said you did" comment and realized what it meant. I guess I'll have to wait and see (just please don't make me wait too long!) :-)I really do love this story! Except for, you know, pulling out half my hair and chewing myself a new manicure...
Response from neelix (Author of Hilltop Cottage)
I know - it's so frustrating, waiting for them to sort it out. They will get there, though, I promise!
Om my gosh I should have waited for a few more chapetrs to be posted. Don't leave me hanging here. Obviously her letters never reached him or Minerva.
Response from neelix (Author of Hilltop Cottage)
Yes... you're right about the letters!
You know, it's funny, because as a Potions Master (and a reasonably prodigious one at that), Severus would have access to all manner of mood-altering potions. He could simply take an anti-anxiety potion (or whatever) before going to see Hermione, but he is almost NEVER written that way! O_O
Response from neelix (Author of Hilltop Cottage)
mmm, interesting point. I think he probably doesn't think that way and prefers to be in full control of his faculties. It helps me write him like that, anyway!
Response from cmwinters (Reviewer)
I think MOST authors (frankly, including Jo) don't see him thinking that way. But it's an interesting dichotomy, nonetheless!
Oh, the anticipation is killer! I usually think that the slow buildup and drawn out angst is a great thing, because when the happy ending finally comes, it is so well deserved. For some reason, the agony of waiting on them to reconcile in this particular story is doing me in. I guess you are doing something right to get me all stressed out about them and their future. I hope you don't take the fact that I am dying right before your eyes, bit by bit, with every chapter that comes out, as a bad thing. I think you are doing a stellar job at weaving this tale. As always, looking very forward to more!
Response from neelix (Author of Hilltop Cottage)
Personally I love those stories that make your stomach churn with the anxiety of wanting everything to turn out right in the end. I'm glad I'm doing that for you! I promise, the waiting will be worth it - well, I think so, anyway!
