Reviews for The Godfather
The allusion to A Winter's Tale was nice. The quote Snape sent in his letter to Hermione made me so sad. I'm glad he didn't rail at her, at least. Another excellent chapter. I was so excited to find this had been updated.

I am sorry for the delay - RL is quite busy at the moment (loads of paid jobs, which is not that bad...) and I am not even finished translating chapter 11 yet :-(

Don't apologize! RL does take precedence. Your readers will still be here when you are able to translate chapter 11!

Interesting. Can't wait to read more of this story.
What does Severus know? I don't remember Hermione having a secret in this fic.

Check out the characters in "A Winter's Tale" and you will know.

:) Wonderful chapter. I particularly enjoyed the fact that Severus is beginning to defrost slightly. Leontis Pearson, eh? *nudge wink* I'm sure the letter was totally unexpected, but much deserved :D
Oh wow! that was such an amazing chapter! You have both done such a fabulous job on this story. I am stunned by how beautiful and compelling this chapter was. I hope more comes very soon as i am now dying to see what happens next.

Don't worry, the next chapter is "in the pipeline"
An incredibly moving chapter. My heart broke with that last line.Bravo!
I've galloped through all the chapters posted so far -- what an extraordinary story! The canon aspects of the characters remain in very sharp focus -- there's nothing cuddly or cute about Hermione and Snape's dinnertable sparring, and of course that is even more apparent in this chapter. Snape's final line is chilling and suggests just how much he might really have wanted to die in the Shrieking Shack. I'm addicted enough to brush off my rusty German skills and read this in the original! Thank you for this graceful translation.

Wow - I would not have thought that this might even have an educational effect ;-)

Yes, well, let's just say my German-English dictionary is feeling ever so much more special now :o)

I was really surprized about that last line. Very sad business! I hope Severus realizes all his mistakes. Great translation as always! :)

(Blushing even more...)
What a sad chapter. I hope there will be a bit of cheering up in the next one. Don't misunderstand me: I don't mind sadness when appropriate (and it is here). I just can't help but live, and read, for happy ending concerning these two.

As there is no ending yet (even in the German version) I cannot make any promises...
He condemns himself far more than she ever could.
Response from Muggline (Author of The Godfather)
That's why it's a blow in the stomach for her.
Wow, that was very sad! How can those two ever get together?? Great chapter, though.gab
Apologies won't fix this.Good story. Compliments to Marisol. Your translation is pretty good as well. Thank you.
That last line was indeed a blow to the stomach! This story has surprised me at every turn, in such amazing and original ways. The characters never become caricatures of themselves, which is a difficult feat when writing with someone else's creation. Remaining true to the characters without distorting their flaws and virtues is a rare gift, one you possess in abundance.

What a heart-rending chapter! Is his admission a simple statement of fact or will it be the realisation that will allow him to change things? If he could only see that Hermione's meddling is an attempt to make a difference in her friends' lives because she has no real life of her own outside of work. They are two very different people who find themselves in very similar circumstances.Your translation is excellent. I do hope you plan to continue it. The story is quite intriguing and you have a wonderful way with words. Thank you and please pass along my thanks to the author, as well.

"Thank you for the flowers" - as we say here in Germany. Marisol has my password and regularly reads all the reviews.
Oh, my! An eye for an eye? An intrusion for an intrusion. I was rather hoping they might eventually find some easier way to get past all this. Unfortunately, I think Snape finds it impossible to believe that which he cannot see for himself. And Hermione simply cannot leave well enough alone.

Excellent fic. More more more!
A poignant moment for all. The final admission that little is truly known of Snape and that their assumptions were skewed by the only side of him they were ever shown. Will all be lost by the intrusion of an unwanted eavesdropper? Will Hermione be able to explain, much less excuse herself?
A heart rending chapter, indeed. It seems that both of them have much to learn and much to forgive of each other. Not to be greedy, but will you be translating more of Marisol's work?
Response from Muggline (Author of The Godfather)
Once this is done, I plan on doing that, yes. However, she has not even finished writing this in German (she's at chapter 23 now). Moreover, there are some other great fics on harrypotter-xperts that also merit translation!
Once the truth is revealed and accepted can one start over again. This could be the turning point for Severus. He has the power to chose if he wants to stay dead emotionally or really live again.Livvy

I agree. It is always said that you need to hit rock bottom to start climbing.
poor Severus.
Well, it certainly wasn't what Hermione or probably any of us expected, but she did finally get her due from Snape. All those years he was holding her to her own personal best and she was merely comparing herself to the students around her. He required that she better herself not just be better than everyone else. Albus Severus is very lucky in his father's choice for a godfather.
THat was a horrible place to end t his chapter. Update soon!
I think they are both broken. That was a really brilliant chapter.
Response from Muggline (Author of The Godfather)
You are right. This was one of the chapters that persuaded me to translate Marisol's story. She is such a brilliant writer when it comes to describing people's feelings and motivations. She is on holiday in New York at the moment - maybe you can send some good vibes, now that she's less far away ;-)
Oh, dear! Perhaps Harry shouldn't have kept pushing Hermione's intelligence on Snape. I can't help but wonder if he really did find her to be an insufferable know-it-all. For Hermione's sake, I hope he can find something half-way nice to say about her. She's had a tough day already.
How funny that Snape had been persuaded by Hermione's visit and had to put up with Hermione's non-stop owls because he wouldn't admit it until the last possible moment! His moments with the baby were precious. Very sweet of Ginny to think to invite him for Christmas. He needs to get out more.
