Severus Snape has always been my fav character since I found HP. I enjoy dark, graphic stories, but will read some fluff and I love humour.
Happy to be in Slytherin house.
Reviews for Consuming Me
Ah, but your Hermione is younger and I think a little more gullible than she of the other Grotto! But, then your Snape is so, so much darker, too. I wouldn't expect the 'promise' factor to come to light so quickly here... and ruin all Sev's fun! [But, ewww, he should have Scourgified his pants. Once that wet spot cools down ... ]

Bwhahahahahhah love the little witch! Good point about Hermione's younger age would have her a little more gullible, I think that might be true. Oh, he'll get to have his fun--lots of it... well, until things turn sour... hehehehh...Thanks for the reviews and ratings!

Really his lack of self-esteem leads him to display the most vile behaviour - but then he gets what he wants, well sort of. The sorting hat certainly got it right with him. But drugging her to that extent?* What about a little legilimens? Or a combination of both?* He might be surprised what goes on under those curls. If there are after effects of the potions wouldn't she realise? Muggle formulations tend to make you feel as though you lose time... But then she wouldn't suspect because she does want to trust him. Hey he always has 'concussion' from her previous trips to fall back on (was that a pun? Yep, a bad one). The downside of all this is that if Hermione figures all this out whatever 'gains' he achieved will be lost. *Despite what I have written I do not endorse those behaviours, just getting involved in the story...Keep writing...Cheers.P.S. These 'little guys' are so much fun... OK i'll be sirius now (a truly bad pun *self-flagellates*)

Oh, you have made my day with all the little dudes.I'm glad you understand that it's his self-esteem... his fears... that make him do these things, because this is the bulk of the story. How these get to a person, how they can CONSUME you (there is a purpse to that title)
He had to drug her to get her to make that promise to him in the Grotto, what he doesn't know is that she is wanting him and might have promised him without the drugs... if he just actually tried talking to her like a 'partner' rather than an object--his toy.
Yes, there will be effects of the drugs, it's going to mess with her mind.
And he will have another sly excuse to what happen. Damn, he's good. Thanks for reviewing!

Nothing good comes from the gratto! Naughty Snape!
Response from shellsnapeluver (Author of Consuming Me)
Naughty Snape would have to disagree with that! He'd say that the grotto is freakin awesome! heheheheh... Oh, Sev... this is going to come back and bit you in the arse, isn't it? thank you for the rating and review!

I'm really looking forward to H's reaction to the grotto. Will it be anything like Lulabelle's H? Great chapter!!gab

Hi Gab,Anything like LB72's reaction? I'm not sure yet... might be worse. heheheh...Thank you for reviewing, I enjoy reading your thoughts!

yay for lulabelle for the ghrotto. I can't wait for the next chapter. how did Severus know she had tripped more than once that day? did he make her fall? or does he have a devise he uses to watch her whenever he please so he can see her shower or what have you?
Response from shellsnapeluver (Author of Consuming Me)
I agree! I LOVE LB72!!! I'm so happy you are excited for the next chapter! Now, how did he know that? No, he didn't make her fall, although that would have been good... I'd say, he is watching her like a hawk... portraits come to mind, following her... all sorts of things! To watch her shower... are you living inside my head? I have a scene about him watching her shower... Thanks for the review and rating!

Okay, I was liking Snape in the previous chapter, hoping that he would lessen his obssesiveness towards Hermione when he realized that she might actually care for him, but know, wow he is one twisted man, and gives me the wiggins. Excellent chapter, looking forward to more.
Response from shellsnapeluver (Author of Consuming Me)
Ah... see what happens when you assume something about my Snape in this fic? He'll go and do a flip on ya and make you say "oh, you creepy, twisted, skinny little man, you!" heheheheh... My point--never assume anything with this Snape.heheheheheh... Thank you so much for your review and your rating! *hugs*

This continues to be completely ace! It's particularly clever the way that so much of Snape's appalling behaviour stems from his own insecurity. A lot of writers make him one thing or the other - either insecure and basically a nice bloke, or an unmitigated villain - but you've realistically combined the two. Is she ever going to wise up to him, I wonder? And I notice that when she made her promise in the Grotto, she not only promised that she was his, but also that he was hers... does that mean she could gain the upper hand, I wonder? Oh, and... *blushes* I have just noticed a Britpick that I missed before. 'Zipper' should really be 'zip'... *hangs head in shame and sets off to write 'I must Britpick more thoroughly' 100 times on a foot of parchment*
Response from shellsnapeluver (Author of Consuming Me)
Ohhhh dear! ZIP!!! I expect to see your sentences at the end of the day! heheheheh...Thank you again for doing that for me... I have another chapter for you too... just have to put the finishing touches on it.Anyway, that's the point of this--his insecurites and fear... they make him act like this. Thank you for saying I am combining them well, that means a lot to me. *hugs*Yes, she did promise that, didn't she? hmm... A few more things need to happen before a BIG revelation comes about... Fantastic! This is even better than I had imagined! Absolutely beautiful! (though maybe beautiful isn't quite the word one should use, considering the events of this chapter)
And love the , "Up Next" part. Excellent! Oh, and your storytelling skills were already great. Don't give me any credit for helping with that. The commas, okay! LOL.
Author's Response: I give credit where it's deserved. You really went the went the extra mile on this for me and... well, now I'm going to get all gushy...
It means the world to me.
Oh, and I will say that it is beautiful. I mean honestly... the art it takes for him to think on the fly like that... to plan everything out so quickly... it IS beautiful... heheheheh
You were right, borrowing 'The Grotto' was a stroke of genius.

Snape isn't playing fair at all. Drugging someone isn't a way to get rid of one's insecurities either.
Response from shellsnapeluver (Author of Consuming Me)
Of course he isn't playing fair, he's a right foul bastard. But, this too shall come back to bit him in his arse. Hard.Thank you for reviewing!

Oooh! Dirty pool Severus! Nasty bastard, although I loved the salf-loathing at the end. So, he thinks he has to resort to this behavior to get a woman of his own? Severus! *shakes head* you got issues, old boy! :)Can't wait for more!Livvy
Response from shellsnapeluver (Author of Consuming Me)

Hey SSL,Hmmm ... very interesting. Severus, despite himself, is having rather mushy thoughts. But he gets a hold of himself by the end of the chapter and returns to evil plotting. Though again, he's funny ... he's thinking his plot is succeeding, but he didn't plot getting attacked and having her heal him! Are we a little bit self-delusional?Meanwhile, Hermione has an epiphany about Severus and how people, including herself treat him; yet seems like she might be keeping or even strengthening her backbone (or at least I certainly hope so) -- she recognizes how unpleasant he is. And her statement "I’m sure killing him would give you great pleasure, but there are other ways to cast your revenge that will last longer.” isn't exactly sweet. So I'm hoping that they will each become and average of their personalities at the start of the story. I guess we'll see, right?RedRoo
Response from shellsnapeluver (Author of Consuming Me)
Hey there RedRoo!Yes, mushy thoughts indeed. And no, of course he doesn't see that his evil plot is just all in his mind... she's reacting to him without his stupid ideas! Will he ever learn? Um, not yet, at least. heheheheh
And I think they will each rub off on each other... And when I wrote that evil little statement from Hermione, I was thinking that she was angry at Greyback for all the crap he has done to people... espeically her fav Professor, Lupin and now Snape. And it was almost like she could 'read' his thoughts--that snape just wanted to kill him, but she knows he can't just do that (blowing his cover) so she simply suggusted an alternative... hehehehhe
Thank you for still reading and reviewing, I enjoy seeing your comments on each chapter.*hugs*Shell~

This Snape seems like a psychopath. He makes me shiver. Yet, I can see that during his performance he could be very compelling.
Response from shellsnapeluver (Author of Consuming Me)
Wow. Psychopath. I haven't got that one yet. I assure you, he is very sane. Just has a little trouble with... well, I'll leave that blank so you contiune to read and find out why he is they way he is... hhehehehehehBut, this is good that he makes you shiver... He is a fast thinker for sure. Thank you for reading and reviewing.

How many obliviates can one person handle before it starts crumbling her brain? You do preditor!snape very well!WAIT A SECOND if Snape didnt get her owl does that mean his cover has been blown by the DEs who are camping out in front of the safe house??
Response from shellsnapeluver (Author of Consuming Me)
Okay... two parts here.1. You are so right... How many oblivates CAN a person handle? We SHALL see in upcoming chapters... so keep that in mind.2. Her note to DD and Snape just said that she was running behind and would be about an hour late... so it was nothing major and the junior DE camping out know nothing, just that an owl was headed to Grimmauld Place... it wasn't written directly to Snape, she just figured that whoever opened the note (Harry or Ron, most likely) would know that it was for Snape, who was the only one waiting on Hermione.
Whew... that was long. lol... sorry.
And since you gave me the little guy, I have to return one...
Response from MollysSister (Reviewer)
Okay well that makes sense. I was thinking she addressed it to Snape. In which case=cover blown!!

I've been thinking about other readers' comments and the boomerang effect. Through insecurity, Severus sees himself as unworthy of Hermione and resents her for it. Ergo, the abuse. The boomerang: How can he be worthy of someone like Hermione if he abuses her? This makes him even more unworthy and further magnifies his insecurity.I'm incredibly curious as to how you'll develop Severus. Once he realizes that he loves Hermione, will he finally take control of himself because she forces him to, or because he does so of his own impetus, his own decision? After all, if abuse is all about control, then he'll be ceding control to Hermione if she's the one who forces him to change. Or is he a strong-enough, capable-enough, and brave-enough person to get beyond his insecurities and self-hatred, and make himself worthy of her, all on his own? (Also, is his love of Hermione enough of a catalyst?)To me, this is a very important point because it determines Severus's internal, inherent strength. It also brings up the question of whether Hermione wants to spend her life with someone she is substantially stronger than (knowing that strong, healthy people, by definition, do not choose weak, unhealthy partners). Seems to me that if Severus wants to be with her, then he's going to have to do his own lifting (or is Hermione prepared to do his lifting for him for the rest of his life?).The alternative: If Severus does manage to break Hermione, will he love, or even want, the new, diminished her? I can't help but wonder why people try to change their partners once they marry. Do they ever take stock of what it is about their partners that made them fall in love with them in the first place? And why would one ever want to change that? Geez, he's f**cked up!Great story! I'm on tenterhooks to see what you choose and how you resolve this.

Hi, Well, you really know how to make me think... thank you so much for your detail reviews, I really love them. So, *clears throat*... his insecurities. His fears. Very important issues in the story.
I really don't know what to say, without giving too much away... however, hopefully in a few chapters, you will start to notice some changes about our Evil Snape... they are small changes in his character, but nevertheless, changes.
I really like how you put "Once he realizes that he loves her..." yes, that will be a big revelation...
I can't wait to see what you think about the upcoming chapters, espeically the one I just finished because that is the one that we start to see changes in him...
Thank you for reading and reviewing--even more than that, actually discussing this with me... you are the first to go above and beyond normal reviews... so thanks.

Hi SSL,I can't believe I'm continuing to read this story ... I usually don't like "Evil!Severus manipulates Hermione stories" (just plain Evil!Severus stories are fine). But your writing is good AND you aren't making Hermione a doormat AND Severus has these moments when he realizes he's blown it or is ambivalent, which is refreshing (often Evil!Severus is completely, coldly competent and never screws up, much less admits it to himself). So I'll keep reading, hoping that Hermione will eventually hex him into oblivion. Or turn even eviler than him. Or transfigure him into a fluffy bunny, which would be an awful punishment for him.RedRoo

Oh yes, I'm beyond my comfort box (that idea is actually quite cozy).Driving home tonight, I realized that the way Severus keeps Obliviating Hermione when his plans don't go exactly as he intended is actually darkly funny. He's Perfectionist!Evil!Snape. And I would love to see Hermione turn eviler and give him some of his own!

So, I really like that idea of her giving him some of his own! hahahaha...And you are right, he screws up... "eh, I'll just oblivate."But, it's not that easy, it never is that easy when it comes to poor Snape. I'll just say--he isn't no Lockhart. And you are the first person to tell me that they have been thinking about my story outside of this site--driving on the way home... you have made my day.
