Severus Snape has always been my fav character since I found HP. I enjoy dark, graphic stories, but will read some fluff and I love humour.
Happy to be in Slytherin house.
Reviews for Consuming Me
Weeeeell... I am happy that Snape came through there... I was a bit worried!!! He was such a ... bastard isn't quite stong enough... at the beginning. I wonder if he's changed or if he's got some agenda. Now that he has the girl, will he become abusive?? Doesn't seem like it so far... he seems sincere enough... seems. ::sigh:: FANTASTIC chapter though... Nothing like tub-lovin'! Wonder what Jezzie will have to say!?!
Response from shellsnapeluver (Author of Consuming Me)
Squueee!! Happy you liked it!
Snape IS a bastard. Do not forget that.
He has changed from the beginning, I will tell you that, however... there is always that 'but'... I will tell you that he loves her very much, that is very sincere... but everything else... well... I'm such tease... you have to wait. muwhahahaha. thanks for reviewing, I love them!

This is an incredible story. I have had the hardest time making myself review . (It is similar to the feeling I had all those years ago when I tried to explain why I loved Pulp Fiction. ) I like this story in spite of the fact that it deals with a lot of disturbing subjects. I'm just a little unsettled after each chapter, I don't really know what to make of Snape's actions-- or anyone's actions for that matter. But it is that unsettled feeling that makes this story so appealing. This is a wonderfully complicated story.

Hi Makaem,I am SOOOO very happy you reviewed. I really love reading what my readers think of the story... what their theories are, so please continue! I think that is the biggest compliment ever, being comapred to Pulp Fiction, because I adore that movie and QT, so thank you so much. Yes, this story deals with many disturbing subjects: just see the warnings, plus I touch on a bunch of fears that a lot of people have. I want to push out of the normal boxes that are set in stories. I want you to feel unsettled. I want you to be confused on what real motives are, and can we really trust what is being said by characters?... etc. Snape, is a very dark person... lots of inner demons, lots of outer demons as well. Not being loved, ever, really hurts a person--always choosing the wrong path... Hermione isn't perfect--she makes a lot of mistakes in this story ie... telling Jezzie things... And I have reasons for everything I do. Even Jezzie, or, Jezebel is named that for a reason... So, you said that it is 'wonderfully complicated' well, my dear... you couldn't have put it any better. lmao. You should just SEE the notes I take to keep everything straight!Anyway, thank you so much for taking the time to review, I really apprreciate it.

Ha! I was close to the mark, thinking that there was going to be some sort of charade enacted for Voldemort. And of cousre he couldn't tell her or her reactions wouldn't be natural.Good work -- the image of all the DE lined up in the moonlight was before my eyes and was chilling. The escape from the DE was very scary! What are they going to do about all this -- she's not going to be safe anywhere! And now she's going to go off and tell Jezzie and I only hope that because she made the vow to Severus that she will tell him what Hermione tells her and it won't get back to the DE.Severus is very caring in this chapter -- though a bit scary when he almost drowns her -- wasn't clear if that was meant to be an act of intimidation and dominance or not. Hermione's realizations about him are right on the mark -- that he's never felt love or concern and that he's been doing a lot in the last 24 hours, too.RedRoo
Response from shellsnapeluver (Author of Consuming Me)
Yes, RR, you were close! lol. Oh, thank you for saying that the DE lined up was chilling, I was hoping someone thought so, because to me, that would make me piss in my pants. And then escaping them, yeah... very scary.
You are correct--she isn't going to be safe anywhere... so when the time comes later down the road, I will say "See, RR saw it coming!!!!! lol" Yes, he is caring, he really does love her--it's just that his 'darkness' sometimes overclouds the good in him... As far as the drowning thing... I touch on a lot of fear: flying, drowning, bugs... because each person fears something different, and I want each reader, when they get to something that really scares them, to be like "OMFG!" That was dominance on his part. She likes the dominance... kinky little sex kitten. lol. Yes, in this story, the time frame is very short, a whole hella lot happens in so little time, so emotions are high, mixed up, confused... which makes for more excitement, because when shit hits the fan, it will all come crashing down. Oh, the joys of being an evil author... lolThanks love!

Please tell me that Hermione isn't go to be so indiscrete as to tell Jezzie about the spell and Egypt. Telling her cousin about the loss of her virginity... understandable. But considering Hermione's own recent experience with Legilimency and Voldy targetting Muggles, you'd think that she would have more common sense than that. After all, if Hermione is vulnerable to Voldy's Legilimency, what does she think Jezzie is? Hum. And when is Severus going to tell Hermione about Jezzie being a spy, or is this going to be an unplanned discovery? Actually, can Severus tell Hermione about this and not have Voldy be suspicious come Legilimency time?Fantastic chapter!
Response from shellsnapeluver (Author of Consuming Me)
I'm glad you mentioned the 'more common sense' about Hermione. Yes, she does have that... however, I am making a point to say that Hermione isn't perfect. And there is a reason she tells Jezzie everything, which will be said later down the road. A lot of times, I have read that Hermione has the answers to everything, she is the smartest, yes, but she has faults... and her telling Jezzie is her fault in this story. Does that make sense? What makes you think Snape even WOULD tell Hermione that Jezzie is his spy? *cackles*
Oh, wait? Because he wants to tell her other things... yes, I can see that...
(I'm trying to throw you off, if you can't tell...)
Thank you for the review and rating!

I just read Chapter 16 and left a review. Out of curiousity, I re-read your response to my comment in Chapter 14.You clever, clever writer! I love it! Love it! Love it! And yes, I do think that your interpretation of under-20-years-old HG is more true to life. She really isn't a fully experienced, fully tested Wonder Woman. As for SS telling HG that Jezzie is his spy, he's smart enough to know that HG will take the news much better coming from him than finding out on her own. I don't see it being all about SS simply liking to tell her things. SS is too analytical for that, and too much the survivor.

If I was brought in front of Death Eaters like that I think I would have soiled my shorts! That girl certainly had guts. I would love to know why that happened, and I'm hoping to find out next chapter. Loved the bath too.

Great chapter. Now Hermione has seen DeathEater!Snape. Scary. Although Hermione looked like she could be pretty intimidating herself when she pulled a wand on him. I am worried about her returning home and meeting with Jezzie, who has been doctored up by Snape and thinks that Snape is more interested in her. Yikes, will the fur fly?
Response from shellsnapeluver (Author of Consuming Me)
Yes, she can be a very dangerous witch... but Snape is just MORE so. Be worried about her returning home... be worried. No, Jezzie is supportive... I think she always knew Snape was being nice to her because he fancied Hermione... but... other things happen, that's all I can say.lol.Thanks deary!

pheww! I was holding my breath and nearly was blue!! good thing you didn't build it too high with this chapter. Ohh, but does Hermione have to be so darned trusting in her cousin. I mean, obviously its exciting, but couldn't Sev tell her NOT to talk to her cousin so openly. Seriously he's a brat!
Response from shellsnapeluver (Author of Consuming Me)
Oh, darling, BREATHE!!! lmfao. And, to warn you, take a very VERY deep breath when you read the next one... I think you are like the fourth person to say something about Hermione's trusting with her cousin. She has a reason why she tells her everything. I am also making the point that Hermione isnt perfect. She makes mistakes too. And she will want to be forgiven for them as well... so hopefully, she will see Snape's POV from a different view when the time comes, right? Thanks for the review!

I'm still wondering what the deal is! And now, I'm wondering if Snape put something in the bubble bath to make Hermione more suggestible. Hmm. Lots of fabulous intrigue!
Response from shellsnapeluver (Author of Consuming Me)
You will be wondering that for a while! No, Snape didn't do anything to the bath, he was simply trying to relax and heal her. Glad you like this one!

Hello Shell,Hmmm ... I have this awful feeling that Severus is about to enact a charade for the benefit of You Know Who -- without telling Hermione it's a charade. Unless, of course, you've been holding out on us in Severus' POV and he is evil (not just distorted) and is going to do something awful with her in his compulsion. I look forward to finding out whether either of these is correct or whether you have something else up your sleeve. I'm hoping for a happy ending -- or the happiest we could expect with these two -- but somehow I can't visulaize it, which is a shame. I'd like to see Severus grow to the point where they could give it a real go.Herimone's realization about power was very interesting. Reading the tome sounds something like reading fan fiction. I need that spell.Very nicely written!RR

I've just read through the reviews and I'm very amused at the delight with which you are torturing your readers! So here is a little icon just for you, showing your fans impatient for the next installment so they can find out What's Up. I"ve always wanted to use that one, but I never thought I'd have a situation where I'd be appropriate!
Response from shellsnapeluver (Author of Consuming Me)
Well, I think those two little dudes sum up exactly how I feel. I LOVE how you went around looking at the reviews, and seeing that yes, I AM torturing my readers. I am a Slytherin, and it highly amuses me to make people squirm. lol. I love the little 'impatient fans' icon. That really made my day!
Yes, you have noticed that Severus POV hasn't been shown yet! Soon, my dear... soon.
And I am really interested in seeing what you have to say when the next chapter pops up... will you... change your mind about Sev? Or still suspect him?
Hermione's realization about the power between them is very, very important. I can't say why now, but at the end, I will explain it more, if I haven't answered it in the story telling... but, I must say to you, "Nice one, on catching that."
Zoinks! That tome IS like reading fanfic!!!! bwhahahahaha. You have to be pulled away from it or it sucks you in!!! hahahah... Good one, RR. Good one.
Thank you so much for the review!

Gosh, I thought we had Severus' POV in the previous chapter, when they were shagging and at various places previoulsy in the story. Have you REALLY been holding out on us? Or did you mean we haven't had Severus' POV about this incident?Seems to me that the power issue is true of all couples to a greater or lesser degree and one of the tensions in the growth of an enduring relationship. You've highlighted the issue in this story through these particular characters, but it's always there.Your comment about being a Slytherin made me wonder what house I belong in. After a microsecond's reflection: Ravenclaw, without a doubt.
Response from shellsnapeluver (Author of Consuming Me)
Oh, I meant this incident... yeah, we have seen his POV before, and again... there are reasons for all my madness, I swear. I might point this out later... but, The story title, is not in anyone's pov. It is in both. If the story was all about Hermione Consuming Snape, the story would be told from JUST Snape. Same vice vs. But, the story is told in both points POV, hence... they both Consume each other. Same with all the titles of each chapter, expect for The Wicked Games We Play, because there is NO Hermione in that chapter at all. But the other ones... about both of them. I just meant for this incident that we haven't seen his pov.
And you won't.
Until... later. *snickers*

Our Severus has a good start on developing a conscience where Hermione is concerned. He had told her that he had woken because he had a nightmare too. He knew he shouldn’t have said that, but perhaps he hadn’t truly lied to her. Thinking that Ron Weasley caught him feeling up his best friend had been a nightmarish experience.I imagine it did feel like a nightmare thinking he'd been caught by Ron Weasley with his fingers in the "cookie jar."That was an incredibly erotic beginning of this chapter! That's right – gets things off to a good start!I had to laugh at Hermione's reaction to finding out that only a man could have broken the ward protecting the entrance to the upper corridor. And right on the heels of that, I chuckled at Severus' reaction when Hermione blasted apart the wall that stood in their way.A little levity is always welcomed, especially just before all hell breaks loose... lulls the reader into a comfortable and relaxed frame of mind... and then GAZONGA! (Gazonga? Where the hell did that come from?)Finding the book had seemed like it would be the highlight, but I soon became aware that this would be too easy. The book had the power to mesmerize a reader, and Hermione found herself bound to its charms. A lucky thing for her that Severus was there to call her back to the real world.I have to tell you, when they started their journey out of the pyramid, my heart was in my throat the whole time! The collapsing corridor, thousands upon thousands of beetles, loosing her wand, loosing the necklace, the fiery hole that Hermione fell into, darts flying at Severus, an army of red-eyed mummies, and the Pharaoh Menkaure himself! I was so glad that Severus was there to fly to her and bring her safely out of the flames and to cast the Sectumsempra curse! And in the aftermath of their near-demise, she kissed him!!! And being the man he is, when she said, “Tell me… Tell me we aren’t dead"... Snape rolled her over, pressed his hard cock into her pelvis and in a low whisper he said, “Does this feel like we’re dead?” No, most assuredly not dead, but very much alive! And the very best part is a the last. When Hermione Apparated them back to their bed at the hotel and Severus tangled his fingers in her hair and pressed his erection into her groin, she had an epiphany. As they fiercely kissed each other again, she knew at that moment that her life would forever change--she could finally admit that she had fallen in love with Severus Snape.Hooray! This was a magnificent chapter!!!Beth

Omg. when you wrote everything that happened when they tried to leave... WOW, I didn't realize that I put that much into the action!!! Good lord. I think I am a bit insane, yes?

Love it! Gosh, I can't believe how well this came out! What an adventure! You should be really proud of yourself; your imaginative skill never ceases to amaze me (but I am going to admit that I skipped over anything that had the word 'beetle' in it--no need to imagine those!).
Perfect ending... sort of!
Bring on the lemons!!!
Author's Response: Skipped over the BEETLES!! It was YOUR idea to have them hissing and clicking!!! ewwwwwwwwwwwww lol.
But, I"m happy you liked how the adventure turned out!
Love you!!!
What a rollercoaster ride that was!Haha, you're an evil author for putting the pair of them through so much before you'll let them into each other's pants! (By which I mean underwear, not trousers - I am a Britpicker, after all. ) Still, nothing like being pursued by scarab beetles, cave collapses and the undead to set the mood for a good hard shag, eh? Errrrr... or is that just me? Excellent stuff, and with lemons ahead, what more could a girl want?

Wow! You and your betas have done such an amazing job with this chapter! It felt like an Indiana Jones movie, but it suppose it would be more accurate to recall The Mummy, with Brendon Fraiser, :-)! Thanks for all your hard work, and I can't wait for the next chapter!

Good chapter, I loved the near escape that they had. Perhaps they should have been forwarned to trouble since the book had no protection on it. This chapter reminded me of The Mummy with Brandon Fraiser with all the bugs and the pharo reminded me of Imhotep.

Hi there! Thanks for reviewing!! Yeah, I think they had a feeling something was up with the book, but had no idea that the pyrmaid itself would be trying to keep them from it. And oh, yes, The Mummy and Indiana Jones--total help from them two! lol.

Excellent suspense! The work you put into this chapter was well worth it. Loved it! And, most of all, I love that I'm still not completely sure about Severus' intentions.

Were they both having the same nightmare perhaps? Maybe more of a connetion was made down in that grotto then Snape realized. The change in him towards Hermione is fun to read, just don't make him "goofy in love." Please don't be upset with this analogy but when I finished reading this chapter the fisrt comparison that came to my mind after reading Snape's character developments was the Warner Bros. Cartoon character Marc Antony. Antony is a big mean bulldog who barks and snarls at a little tiny doe-eyed kitten (pussyfoot) which is the new addition to the home. Antony has been charged with keeping the kitten out of trouble or else he will suffer the consequences, and needless to say this kitten soon has this vicious dog wrapped snuggly around its paw and going to extremes to protect and care for it, often at the expense of his dignity. The kitten, like Hermione is trusting, naive, innocent and would be helpless against Antony if he chose to devour it. However Antony like Svereus is so besotted witht his precious kitten he gives into its every desire all the while trying to keep the illusion of being dinified and vicious. In the end Antony believes the kitten to be dead, baked into a batch of cookies, and goes to sulk in the corner only later to be happily reunited with his kitten.Oh gosh, there goes another plot bunny!Looking forward to seeing what will happen to Severus and Hermiones relationship in such an exotic location the possibilities are endless. Thanks for the update.

Oh no no no, never 'goofy in love' with this guy. He will be tender when he needs to be, but hopefully, that's about it. ANd you are sooo right about the dog and kitten. I love the analogy. Because I feel he is that way. And yes, he will seem like that in this story, we will see him fall in love. But don't expect him to bring her roses and candy. lol... No Fluff Zone here. hehehehehehheYes, the exotic location could proove to be... well... heheheheh... I won't say anymore on that!
Hugs!shell~

I'd like to see this scene myself: "... He was barefoot, wearing black, cotton trousers that tied in the front and a grey t-shirt that was snug against his torso. His hair was damp, and she noticed that he was in need of a shave, but she really liked seeing him with stubble."Severus is learning that being kind to Hermione pays dividends. He speaks calmly to her while they are flying, and she relaxes and allows him to hold her in his arms... and smell her hair. One wonders who is training whom.I have to admit that I suspect Severus of manipulating the situation in order to share a room with Hermione, but what's a guy to do? It's not like he could ask nicely in this instance and expect her to agree. Her nightmare was very terrifying, and apparently he had one as well.I tried to find the outtake by lulabelle on your LJ and also on DeviantArt, but couldn't locate it. Could you point me in the right direction? This was a great chapter, Shell. Severus' memories of his first test as a Death Eater were chilling. He is going to have a lot to come to terms with at some point in time. His life as a DE is a total bummer, but maybe his love for Hermione will, in the end, allow him to find his better nature.I really enjoy keeping up with this story.Well done!Beth

You and me both would love to see him in that scene! GOD YUM. I think I would put a mural of it on my wall, if I could get away with it. hahahahhaAnd your suspect him to be mainupliating in getting only 1 room? *gasp* My, whatever do you mean? *smirk* Oooo, yes, that nightmare--how would you like to have THAT dream? my oh my.
Thanks for saying something about his memories as a DE. I always can count on you to point out the spots that I really liked. I had to add that certain level of 'scary shit' into the chapter.
Much love,
Shell~
