Reviews for The Godfather
i loved the beginning till the middle... after that whilst not badly written, it wasn't as sterling as the beginning. it's your own story though how the ending should be so whilst my ending for this would be hermione working to ensure that severus lets go of more of his inhibitions and severus himself realising that love is unconditional and even treating james and lily as people in their own right now that he has his own children, it's not my story and i fully respect your right to write the story how you wish.
Wow, evil cliffhanger! I actually clicked on the link to try to read the story in German. Unfortunately, my one semester of German classes is not enough for me to decipher any of it. Hope that the next one is up soon. Thanks for translating it, and kudos to the original author for writing such an engaging story. I've read all of the posted chapters in one sitting.

This is an excellent portrayal of Snape ... you managed to capture the essence of his character here. Well done!
:)
It's very nice! So, they've been together for 10 years without even live together?! Wow
I didn't expect to like this story. I really, really thought I'd read a chapter or two, and then go back and read something else. I think the title was one of my biggest doubts, because it reminded me of the movies, and I couldn't see how the story would be any good if it was based on them. Second doubt was the fact that the story was translated. I'm from Denmark, and every single fanfic I found in Danish is absolutely rubbish! So I had some doubts.
But. As soon as I started reading, I couldn't stop! The story was sooo good! I've read a lot of fanfics, and it's become rare for me to read a story this original, this... I have no words. It had the right amount of drama for me, it was interesting, and for the first time in too long, I read an original story were they didn't hook up until after drama and trials. The part with Hermione's father's accident really hit a nerve with me. Last year, in late September, my father was in a terrible accident, that left him with third degree burns on large parts of his body. He had to stay in a hospital 300 km. from my home, because of his burns. He stayed there for 8 weeks before he could come home, and he had to have skin-transplants. And if that wasn't enough, my grandfather (my dad's dad), died a week before my dad's accident. I understand how tough it must have been for Hermione, and I wish someone could have just given him a magical potion to make it all better. Instead he recieved a lot of painkillers, and I remember distinctly when he called me, the day after the accident, and apologized for interrupting me on a school-day (it was sunday), and told me to say hi to Jacob (my best friend).
But what I'm trying to say is this: Really, really good story. I loved it. The only thing I didn't love was the Hagrid-part. I love Hagrid, and the fact that Severus hexed him didn't sit well with me. I wish Hagrid could have at least been forgiven.
Great. Close proximity tends to make fellings revealed. And one never know maybe they're shared...
Oh dear, the kids are conspiring against her!

Don't they always? (Conspire against the adults, that is...)

She tried so hard to stay away, then was done in by her kindness. I think her line to her mother about not being happy was smooth.
so exciting. Two people, pushed together with a common goal of silencing the children, but what happens when their excuses are tucked safely in bed, snoring the snores of little monsters?one can only guess. And this one is waiting eagerly.

The next chapter is already being betae'd, but I hope I will manage to fit this in before I go on holiday by the middle of next week...

I love how protective Severus has become. Too short!

Oh, but he seems to be quite choosy when it comes to being protective...

<i>"Because this man is a person you would not choose if you wanted to be happy,"</i>That was a very effective line... and really true with the Snape in this story! It should be highly entertaining watching the two of them babysit together. :-)

Severus doesn't change, and poor Hermione, you cannot choose where your heart leads you, but it sometimes makes life difficult.

Haha...that's usually how it goes with children. Once the cat's away and all that. Can't wait for the next chapter.
This should prove to be an interesting evening. Sooner or later, the two of them are going to have to face their feelings about each other. Severus seems to have a way with Al, and James seems to be a handful, but I'll bet the Potions Master gets him in hand before too long. I can't wait for the next chapter!Beth

This was funny, kids have such a way to embarrass adults. Looks like they will have their own intimate evening.
Response from Muggline (Author of The Godfather)
intimate? With two kids around?
Response from sinbad (Reviewer)
I was being sarcastic, I should have put in a lol. Sorry :)

Thank you for the update! I am glad that you have Hermione keep so much brain that she realise that no matter what she feels, Severus is not a man you would chose if you want the "happy ever after". I admit that I still resent this Severus quite a bit; I don't care how many issues he has, his behaviour towards Hermione is beyond contemption. It is to close to the act/words used by abusive men all over the world "I love you, thats why I hurt you, I wouldn't have to do it if you just fitted into my picture on how to be perfect so it is actually your own fault for being who you are". What is really offputting is that he still pass the anger towards James Potter upon a innocent child. That should make any woman consider if they actually want a man like that in their life, and for Hermione who knows the story behind to realise that no matter what he hints about his feelings for her, Lily will always be his number one (no matter that Lily actually neither loved him or respected him enough to keep their friendship) and still so many years after he still holds on to his anger and jelousy towards the man Lily chosed to love. Nope, I do actually like your story and it is wonderfully well written, but I can't honestly see that you will ever convince me that a happy ending will be for Hermione to end up with Severus. I do hope that he will find some peace of mind, he can't be feeling good about himself when he needs to kling onto the past like this, but Hermione should rather be allowed to find someone who will love her, put her first, respect her, treat her like a decent human being, cherish her etc. For me Hermione is an equally important character in the HP fandome as Severus, she is not just a "prop" needed for presenting Severus and all his issues, so as much as I actually want him to be happy and content, I don't think that Hermione should sacriface her spine, selfrespect and everything that makes her a strong, smart woman, for at all cost end up with Severus.

I agree whole-heartedly. If this is supposed to work out, he will have to change a lot.

I feel for Hermione as I also get rather snappy when I am out of my depth and around someone I have feelings for...
I can't wait for the next chapter! Severus and Hermione: Adventures in Babysitting! He-he!Livvy
this line gave me chills: "'Because this man is a person you would not choose if you wanted to be happy,' Hermione whispered." i hope that at some future point she will be proved wrong, but i guess there's a ways to go before we know for sure which way things are headed.
