I am a grateful fan of Ms. Rowling and of her overwhelming Byronic Character, Severus Snape! Please check out the first chapters of each fic (except for "How Can I Tell You," which is on Chapter 2) to see pictures of the Heroines.
Admins' Note: Livvy6 died suddenly on February 22, 2012, leaving behind her husband, six-year-old daughter, and seventeen stories well-loved by the TPP community. All who knew her—including those in Harry Potter fandom and all of us, here—are richer for having known her.
Requiescat in pace, Livvy. Always.
Reviews for A Change is Going to Come
Wow! This has been another busy chapter! I like all the details that Dumbledore explained to Hermione about the different relationships among the Death Eaters. But his warning to her that she would be killed if she went to see Voldemort again was frightening.
It's downright scary to see Severus being drawn into the Dark Lord's web even further. Voldemort is a master of seduction, and he knows just how to get Severus interested in doing those things he wants done by the talented brewer of potions... as long as Severus continues creating potions and charms and hexes, the Dark Lord will not require him to go on the Muggle-baiting-killing sprees with his fellow Death Eaters. I hope he will be careful, but I know things will have to get much worse before they get any better.Severus and Hermione are coming to a very difficult time for their relationship. This latest meeting beneath the Owlery stairs may be the last time they get to see and touch one another. The level of danger increases daily that they could be found out. I can't imagine how awful it will be for them at the Valentine's Day Ball to be in the Great Hall, watching each other dancing with other people, and not be able to acknowledge each other.
It was good that Severus made arrangements for the students of Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw to stay out of sight when the DL came to visit Hogwarts, right down to talking to the house-elves to they could provide them with the foods they would need. And Hermione did an excellent job of keeping everyone busy and engaged so they wouldn't get too fidgety. Of course, Lily would have to make a public display of her "affections" for James. She will see to it that she is the center of attention no matter what. It was sad that both she and James lost their parents. I'm sure knowing the Death Eaters were responsible for Mr. and Mrs. Evans' deaths had to remind her that Voldemort had unpleasant plans for her, as well.
Now I'm wondering why the Dark Lord hasn't made an appearance yet. At least I'm assuming he hasn't since Severus hasn't sent the "all clear" yet.
This is another great chapter, Livvy! Thanks!Beth
Response from livvy6 (Author of A Change is Going to Come)
Severus will come to Gryffindor tower to give the all clear. I won't go into detail about Voldemort's purpose for coming. Later on, it will come up again. Thanks!Livvy
To say I am thunderstruck would be an understatement. I couldn't believe my eyes when I read that Serena was stillborn. This is all Harry's fault, damn and blast!Everyone but Dirk was good to Hermione, especially Dean and Ted. With his bad attitude I wouldn't be surprised to see the Snatchers scoop Dirk up and whisk him off to Azkaban. I was so glad that Ted sent his Patronus for Andromeda because Hermione will need her strength and wisdom in the coming weeks. Dean was so sweet, and I was glad he was a complete gentleman when Hermione told him that she was devoted to Severus. OMG! This is so sad. I can't wait for the next chapter to find out just how Hermione works through all the emotions that must be roiling through her now. Great writing, Livvy.Beth
Response from livvy6 (Author of A Change is Going to Come)
Yes, it was a very hard chapter to write, and a part of me didn't want to write it, but the muse pulls you.Actually, Dirk was the one who cast the Patronus. Ted is a Muggle, remember? Tonks is a half-blood. It still doesn't dismiss him for being a coward and cruel jerk, though! :) And after how horrible Harry was to her, it was refreshing to have a schoolmate of hers treat her with respect. There will be a lot for Hermione to sort through, but Andromeda will become a surrogate mother to Hermione. She will give her the comfort she needs so badly. For now, being clean and warm in a cozy home with a motherly person to coddle you is sometimes the best medicine. God knows Hermione deserves it!Thanks for reviewing!Livvy
Wow... what a great way to make Hermione's time on her own very believeable. I liked your Dean, and am so glad that he was there for Hermione. The scene with him climbing into bed with her made Dean a really likeable character. The fact that he wants to take care of her, but also backs off gracefully when she turns him down gave him lots of points. It also reminded us how devoted she is to Severus, despite all that has happened. The birthing scene was so horrible in a good sort of way. It's not like an epidural is easy to come by in the forest but I was wondering, don't they have spells or some sort of equivalent in the wizarding world? But then I also reasoned that even if they did, you probably have to be trained how to use them, and why would a group of men and goblins know anything about that anyway. I did not, however, expect the baby to die. Her link to her husband, and the thing that was probably motivating her to get out of bed everyday is suddenly ripped away from her. Tragic! I will say though, and I hope I don't offend anyone because I mean this in a practical sort of way, not a morbid one, that isn't it kind of a relief that she won't have to be on the run with a baby? Having to deal with diapers or lack thereof, no sleep, no food for Hermone who has to feed the baby, keeping her quiet so they aren't discovered, it just would have been a nightmare! More so than than the nightmare they are already living. You continue to amaze me with this wonderful story. Hope to see you back soon! *off to add new box of kleenex to the shopping list*
Response from livvy6 (Author of A Change is Going to Come)
Thank you for your kind review. Yes, the whole thing is just tragic. At least Hermione will be safe in a home where she can grieve and sort out her head. When she gets back to Hogwarts, she will have an earful for Harry and other members of the order, that's for sure! Thanks for reviewing!Livvy
Oh. So sad but probably one of your best chapters.
Response from livvy6 (Author of A Change is Going to Come)
Thank you! It was very hard to write. Thanks for reviewing!Livvy
I am like in tears here man!I dont know whether I want to hurt you or hug you atm.I'm just so tired and I[m torn between wanting to slap Snape, or just cry at him :POMG I dont understand anything any more!Gah - I can't wait for you to explain in the near future chapters, girly. A~~
Response from livvy6 (Author of A Change is Going to Come)
Hopefully the next chapters will soothe your mind. It was quite harsh how things ended with them. Now you see why Hermione was so pissy with Severus in the first chapter. Thanks!Livvy
just reread this after reading ch 23...haWOW! I am so excited...
Response from livvy6 (Author of A Change is Going to Come)
Yeah! Now I hope the next chapter will make up for all the drama. Thanks!Livvy
Did you have Hermione think that Frank and Alice die in the future Voldemort War 1 for plot purposes? Or, because Hermione would not have known yet that the Longbottoms ended up in St. Mungo's Janus Thickey Ward with Crucio spell damage? Within your story, HG's Time-Turner mishap having happened at the beginning of her own 3rd year and her seeing Frank and Alice at St. Mungo's in her 5th year... in Rowling's version.
That could get very confusing - sorting out yours from the original and trying to plot what happens when your character only knows the parts of what happens to the place where she slipped back in time ... {headache!}. Better you write this than me! I'll just sit back and enjoy what you're so ably doing.
Response from livvy6 (Author of A Change is Going to Come)
No, Hermione doesn't know about the Longbottom's being in St. Mungo's. So all she speculated was that they have to had died in the war for Neville to be raised by his Gran.Yes, it has taken my two beta's, my husband, and lots of research to keep things straight. But I think it was all worth it in the end. I'm glad it is finished and all I have to do is let my betas point out the little grammar errors. Very soon will be a surprise, but not the BIG SHOCKER that will come later. I can't wait! :)Thanks,Livvy
ahh! i can't wait for the next chapter! lol. everything is getting so interesting!
Response from livvy6 (Author of A Change is Going to Come)
Yes, it's going to be pretty scary with everyone scattered and Hermione in limbo. Glad you are enjoying the fic! :)Thanks for reviewing!Livvy
wow- what a nice job with your build up - thank you for your hard work - I wish you were getting paid for this!! Loved the scene between H and S, and the intro of Frank and Alice - great job and keep it up!!
Response from livvy6 (Author of A Change is Going to Come)
Thanks! THe next three chapters are going to be increasingly tense as they all prepare to leave Hogwarts. I hope you like them! :)Thank you for all your sweet words,Livvy
Whoot! Dumbledore is goign to take action. Sirius is really a royal prat and is goign to be a huge problem! I'm glad James seems to have gained a cool head - but there is a Rat in the Order? A mole? uh oh.
Response from livvy6 (Author of A Change is Going to Come)
Yeah, things are going to get really dicey as we head towards the start of the war for those at Hogwarts. THe next three chapters are going to be big. Thanks,Livvy
OH, gads when he walked by I thought he'd gone over fro good, but then in the owlery - I was so glad to read what he'd said! And Lily, I just don't get the girl. Wanting to make Hermione jealous - when Hermione keeps telling her she doesn't love Lily that way. Doesn't bode well.
Response from livvy6 (Author of A Change is Going to Come)
Well, that is the end of that. Lily is so angry with Hermione, she won't speak to her-besides for Order communication for the rest of the year.Severus and Hermione have to be very careful, but they will make it work. Thanks!Livvy
Lots going on. It seems that it will be a dangerous year for everybody.
Response from livvy6 (Author of A Change is Going to Come)
Very dangerous. Next chapter will show how much. Actually the next the three chapters will be filled with a lot of drama. Thanks!Livvy
It's scary that they are having to deal with the politics and intrigue while still in school. I am amazed at where you've taken this. It's just gotten so deep. I can't wait to see how this will match up with the beginning.
Response from livvy6 (Author of A Change is Going to Come)
Thank you. Soon, very soon we will be caught up where we were in the first chapter. The next three chapters are going to be vital. Thanks!Livvy
Oh ho! The plot thickens. I am happy I'm not in Hermione's shoes... As always, lovely work. Can't wait for the next chapter!
Response from livvy6 (Author of A Change is Going to Come)
Oh, yes, we're hitting some major turbulence now. The next three chapters are going to be critical. Thanks,Livvy
I'm going to have to go back and read the first chapter. What happens in her own timeline since she is spending so many years in the past? Hmmm, anyway, aside from my curiosity, I enjoyed the chapter. It's intriguing how Professor Snape grows into being.
Response from livvy6 (Author of A Change is Going to Come)
Yeah, the next three chapters will wrap up the history behind the first chapter. Then there will be Halloween of 1981 and what happens that night. Thanks,Livvy
More brilliant writing. I look forward to the next chapter.
Response from livvy6 (Author of A Change is Going to Come)
Thank you... gettting close now to a big suprise. Thanks!Livvy
Oh noes!I feel so sorry for Frank and Alice! They are such lovely characters...I liked this chapter!Keep up the good work!Angela~~
Response from livvy6 (Author of A Change is Going to Come)
Thanks... yeah, it's hard writing for some characters that you know are not going to have a happy ending, but at least I gave them a voice. JKR never let us know anything about all these good people who died in the first war. Thanks,Livvy
Harry needs to be put over someone's knee and have the living daylights spanked out of him! The little brat. The arrogrant, cocky, hateful brat. I really don't like what he's become in this story. I also cringe at the direction your going in. There is no one keeping Harry level headed. He'll spiral out of control and frankly the way he is in this story, I could care less if he died.Poor Hermione, with everything going on - she's preggers, husband on the run (and will die to boot) and in chains. Merlin girl this is a mess.
Response from livvy6 (Author of A Change is Going to Come)
Harry will come to his senses a bit, but things between him and Hermione can't be taken back. Harry will have to face all of this without her and he will realize how wrong he was, but, we'll see.And I also want to reaffirm that I do believe in happy endings! :)Thanks for reviewing!Livvy
Response from beaweasley2 (Reviewer)
I still think Harry needs a spanking! He forgave Severus in DH?! SO why can't he in this fic as well. He is soooo not smart, level-headed, clever, talented or deft enough to go at it alone!
Oh and finally a baby! Poor Hermione and Severus though =(
Response from livvy6 (Author of A Change is Going to Come)
Oh, yes! Things are going to continue to get really complicated now. Thanks for reviewing!Livvy
Every chapter the plot thickens and gets more difficult for Severus and Hermione. Where in most stories I picture a happy ending, but this I can't. I never know what expect in the last chapter. I look forward to the next update.
Response from livvy6 (Author of A Change is Going to Come)
Well, we are a long ways away from over, so don't worry about that. Just remember I LOVE happy endings! Why else would I put these people through all this shit? lol! Thanks!Livvy
wonderful update. thanks so much
Response from livvy6 (Author of A Change is Going to Come)
Thank you!Livvy
I have begun to wonder what things are like back in the present. How are Ron and Harry managing everything without Harry? What will Hermione return to? You don't have to answer these questions, because we'll find out when you get there. Every author deals with time travel differently. Wonderful chapter, I look forward to reading more.
Response from livvy6 (Author of A Change is Going to Come)
Yes time marches on and will have to be dealt with. I have it all worked out. I hope you like what I have done. Thanks!Livvy
At least Dumbledore knows that Severus is redeemable. :)
Response from livvy6 (Author of A Change is Going to Come)
Absolutely. How could he not, with Hermione on his side? :)Thanks,Livvy
I promise to be patient. I feel that you have this gigantic plot going on, just take your time, I know you'll get there and it's going to be awesome!!Another great chapter, really!!gab
Response from livvy6 (Author of A Change is Going to Come)
Your intuition is staggering. Yes, I have a plot going on that will be HUGE! And I'm not talking about the SEX that will be going on in about 3 more chapters! He-he.Thanks!Livvy
My heart sunk half way through this. Severus not knowing he is going to be a father. I'm glad Lupin gave Severus some credit 'better than Dumbledore and Voldemort put together'. I thought that in the books Severus never got the credit he deserved. I look forward to the next chapter, I have no ideas how this is going to pan out. Although I like Hermione's thoughts on the future. Fingers crossed.
Response from livvy6 (Author of A Change is Going to Come)
Hermione is a strong woman. She has unwavering faith that in the end all will be okay. I wish I could say more, but I can't... sorry! Thanks for reviewing!Livvy
