I am a grateful fan of Ms. Rowling and of her overwhelming Byronic Character, Severus Snape! Please check out the first chapters of each fic (except for "How Can I Tell You," which is on Chapter 2) to see pictures of the Heroines.
Admins' Note: Livvy6 died suddenly on February 22, 2012, leaving behind her husband, six-year-old daughter, and seventeen stories well-loved by the TPP community. All who knew her—including those in Harry Potter fandom and all of us, here—are richer for having known her.
Requiescat in pace, Livvy. Always.

This was so sad. I was hoping you were going to have him find her in time. :( Great chapter! There was one typo I found - when Dumbledore says "You must let him go into order to save him," I'm assuming you mean you must let him go in order to save him.

Oh, thanks! I'll go change that. Thanks for reviewing!

Oh - how sad! And the really sad part isn't Lily dying! I am sorry that Snape is making this huge mistake! I look forward to an update.

Well, I read this before I went to work this morning, and it's haunted me all day. I don't see any reason to keep reading this story at this time, but I'll keep my eyes on the snippets in case something good comes up later. Poor Sev just can't get a break.

There will be hard times and dark days, but his day will arrive. In the meanwhile, Lupin will be around and that friendship will be a stabilizing force for him.

Thanks for letting me know there is a ray of hope. It's nice to know that the mention of Wolfsbane was there for a reason.

Oh, my gods! She killed herself? I can't believe it! It. Ah - why? Poor Severus! And they take Harry from him anyway? I thought there was no safer place than Hogwarts?
Response from livvy6 (Author of Love Remains)
With all the work Severus still has to do, Harry is still in real danger. After all, Severus said he wanted to make him as powerful a wizard as Salazar Slytherin. Dumbledore knows that some of Tom's powers were translated onto little Harry. The last thing they need is for Harry to turn into another Dark Lord. They also do not know when Voldemort will return, so they thought it would be best to send him away from the Wizarding World. It's the same idea from canon. Keep Harry away from the Wizarding World until he is old enough. This is really going to be rough for Severus. He's going to go through a lot of pain in the years to come, however, Lupin will be around more and he will continue to be a stabilizing force and a voice of reason for Severus. Thanks for reviewing!

OH, MY GOD! Wow. That sucks (situation, not story). I can't believe they would do that to him. They are difinitely NOT my favorite people in this story.Story is riviting, as always.

I'm a little confused that Lily didn't tell Dumbledore who their secret keeper was.The last scene was full of beatifully intese emotion.

I did it on purpose to show how unstable she is. She is not the same person that confronted James about her doubts on Peter in the beginning of the story. It's all a process of her mental deterioration that will eventually drive her to destruction.

This chapter was beautiful, though too short. Poor Lily must be losing her mind a bit, but the way Severus reacted to her throughout the chapter was wonderful.

Lily is not "all there" and will continue to deteriorate. It's really very sad, considering how much Severus loves her and little Harry. Thanks for reviewing!

I like Severus' theory about Lucius. I love the seed of thought that Severus would be the father to Harry in this scenario and that what started out as a clasically Snape manipulation is turning into true affection for the boy.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Love Remains)
Thank you. I felt that would be the honest way to bring Snape around. As a Slytherin, he would want to work the situation to his advantage and wanting Lily back in his life rested upon his acceptance of Harry. Loving Harry wasn't something he expected, and I think it shows how capable he is of love, and wanting good things in his life shows the goodness that is within him underneath the cold exterior.

Oh so sad! I had hoped that she would have been found but alas it wasn't to be and how wrenching were Severus' words plus prophetic regarding Petunia Dursley. You feel like shaking Dumbledore and saying 'No, No...'Well done on another great chapter. I could feel the pain emanating off the screen.Cheers.

It was so important that this chapter be alive with the emotions Severus was going through. It needed to be rich and heavy with sadness and grief. I'm glad you could feel it so keenly. Thanks for reviewing!

OMG this is so sad... To imagine what life those two could have led...I do hope that you will deviate from canon in later chapters, too!
Response from livvy6 (Author of Love Remains)
There will be some, of course. Even though Harry is gone to live with the Dursleys, you can't unring the bell. He will always think of Harry as his son and like a parent, he will protect and even be hard on him since he knows the boy's destiny to kill Voldemort. Also as parents do (unfortunately) they carry on the dysfunction of their own raising into thier parenting. Snape will parent how he was parented: without showing positive emotion, at times being far too harsh and critical, and overbearing. So, a lot of it will give you a new way to look at canon. Instead of a sadistic prick Harry thinks he is, Snape is a reactionary and scared parent that lashes out when he is confronted with the danger his child has put himself in. For example, the car crashing in the Whomping willow? The seeming overbearing and sadistic teacher takes on a new meaning looking through a parents eyes thinking how the child could have killed himself, etc.Okay wow, that was long! Thanks for reviewing!

Oh, this is heartbreaking! you've worked canon details into your story so well, and now Harry will forget. It's horrible, simply horrible. I was literally gasping while I read this chapter. It is actually painful to read.

It was a hard chapter to write, however, it is not the end and one day it will all be revealed to Harry.

This was incredibly sad. Sad for Harry because he was essentially ripped away from all he knew, sad for Severus because he lost everything, including his spirit. This was nicely written.

Yes, Severus was not the only one who lost someone important in his life. One day, Harry will have to come to grips with that when he finds out the truth. Thanks for reviewing!

They killed his spirit. I hope something goes his way, or I don't know if I can keep reading, actually. It is just really tragic to me.

Things will get bleaker for Snape, there is more pain, but I promise there will be something better for him down the road. I hope you will stay with it to the end!

Oh dear, so much of him was invested in his hope and love for Lily and Harry, and now they are both gone.

Ooh I thought she might leave him, but didn't think she'd either leave her son or kill herself, which seem to be the two most likely options here. Good going, Hidden Before Voting! I'm glad the next chapter is already written.

I think deep down he knows she is not fully invested in the relationship, but is trying so desperately to make things work. She will not let go of James and move on, which makes the relationship with Severus one of need, not love,
Response from livvy6 (Author of Love Remains)
Severus is so happy she has chosen him that whatevers misgivings or fears she still may have will work itself out. She is definately not in love with him, but he thinks she is but just a bit overwhelmed. True, she will not let James go and feels she must feel for Severus what she feels for James in order to love him. She is very mixed up. Yes, for her, it is about need not love. Thanks for reviewing!
This is going to turn out badly, isn't it? I feel sorry for Severus, here, actually. That is not a good reason to stay, it really isn't.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Love Remains)
Lily is continuing to deteriorate. It's so sad that because Severus is really and truly for the first time in his life totally open and honest. The next chapter will be an eye-opening one for Lily when she meets with Remus.
Lily just does seem so torn up mentally and yes, I can truly see how she is deteriorating away emotionally, and her self-esteem is whipped and she is unable to rationalize out anything anymore. Every time they come together, she is using his physical love as a crutch to feel, terrified of refusal and rejection, and clinging onto the only thing she has as a lifeline, trying to make it all fit. But rounds don’t fit into cubes. The only one I feel sorry for is Severus anymore. Lily needs to snap out of her ‘safe shell’ and be confronted by someone. She needs help – not the kind of help Severus (who’s emotionally inept as well) is providing. (Possibly the proverbial ‘slap in the face’ is in order.)Poor Severus, he’s got the family he wants, has Lily in his bed. Although he’s assuming that she is there because she feels the same toward him and doesn’t see that she is ‘still broken’ unable to feel, is using him to repay him for what he’s doing, not really because she cares for him and wants intimacy with him. She’s only giving him her body, and Severus doesn’t see it. His feelings are real and growing deeper, hers is stagnant and guile. I know she’s going to hurt him and this time the wounds will scar his soul.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Love Remains)
Again, you have nailed it perfectly! The imagery of "rounds don't fit into squares" was exactly what I had in mind when I was writing this chapter. His feelings are growing deeper and unfortunately he will be very hurt. Also, the next chapter will be that "slap in the face" Lily needs and it will come from none other than Remus Lupin. I am very curious as to how you like the next chapter! Thanks so much for reviewing! I always enjoy your comments!
