this chapter was so sad, starting as it did with him brooding over harry, and then moving on to his next painful rejection from a woman. i'm very nervous of how he will react to this setback. however, i did not really like the idea of a more intimate relationship between them, given how their acquaintance began. so frankly, i'm kind of relieved that didn't go where he wanted it to, although i feel for his pain, which will probably transmute into some kind of awful rage. having read the reviews and your responses, i am glad to know that things will take a turn for the better soonish.

Yes, it really could not happen between them, it would never have worked. Although an emotionally healthy person could understand, we know Snape is not emotionally stable and has a huge chip on his shoulder, which is why he goes and sleeps with prostitues instead of going for relationships anyway. Now with this rejection, he will descend into his lowest period of self-loathing. The next chapter will be very difficult to handle, but I promise after that, things will start to slowly turn upwards for Snape. He will rekindle his friendship with Lupin and work on focusing on Harry's well-being, albeit from a distance.Thanks for reviewing!

No wonder he is so absolutely cold and remote. Every time he tries to open up to a woman she does something to betray that trust he has been so slow to build up. He even feels betrayed by Lupin - the one person he would have called friend. I hope he gets his happy ending.

That isn't going to go well for Severus, is it. You know, this gets harder and harder to read, because someone can only take so many hard knocks before they really lose all sense of emotional well being. Not that I think Severus has much of one at this point.

She probably never really loved him to begin with, after all, their inital meeting was not anything she could ever forget. Then there was the fact he never told her he was a Death Eater.But on the whole, she was cold about how she handled it. I promise he will find true love!

Poor sod. Will this Snape-bashing ever end? Of course I know that this has to go on until the end of the seventh year, but this does not make it easier to read. On the other hand, the fact that my heart goes out to your version of Severus Snape speaks for your writing abilities. I am looking forward to the next update!

Wonderful. So sad at the funeral, and that Harry was ripped from Severus' life. Then his painful coming-to-grips with Harry coming to Hogwarts. And finally (for this chapter) dealing with one of the Marauders. Great job!:-D

Oh I liked the way you handled the conversaton between Lupin and Severus. I know he hates Sirius so much that he's blind - but it will only increase the shock to find out who's right. I like that after, he was willing to help the girl. But why the compasion? He's making himself into such a cold prick... still it's nice to see that he's not all to gone to care anymore.Thia is still one of my faorites for the challenge.

Yeah! Snape is defeinatly going off the deep end. He is so full of self-loathing he is just lashing out where he can. But he still has a ways to go before he can coming to understanding. He will always retain that good part of himself. He loves Harry, he has a promise to keep for him.I'm glad you are still liking the story!

No, Lily! That is never the right solution. rather find another way, but there must be something else she can do. Does she not realise Harry needs much more than an ex-Death Eater as a role model. He really needs her too!Oh, please update soon!!!!
