Reviews for The Godfather
You couldn't even finish the sentence??? Lol. I don't take cliffies well. Of course, I have no qualms about dishing them out myself, so I can understand the want to do so. Great tension in the whole chapter. You (Marisol) conveyed the long wait very well. And great translating Muggline. Sorry if I haven't mentioned it before. Someone over at FFN is translating Time's Treasure into Spanish for me, and I am eternally grateful and have a new appreciation for such work. Although I speak Spanish, there's no way I could be as eloquent as she is in her translations. But I digress. As I was saying, wonderful job. You'd think this entire story was written in English originally, it's so well done.

OMG, thank you so much! Do you know that it is the greatest praise for a translator to say that she/he hasn't even been noticed? Sounds strange, but it is true.
Response from debjunk (Reviewer)
I can see how that could be, but you deserve your bow too.

I don't know how I have missed this story so far, but words cannot express how good it is!! The slow build-up of their relationship, the pure and utter loneliness of Severus' life, his feelings for Al, the characterizations are spot on. Thank you Marisol for writing such a treasure. Thank you Muggline for translating it!! Oh, and this evil, evil cliffie. Can't wait for an update!

Thank you very much - glad to hear you love it. AND the next chapter is in the queue. AND Marisol just posted a new chapter to the German version today. There's light at the end of the tunnel...

Oh my, you weren't kidding about evil cliff-hangers! How terrible! I really love this story and am glad to see it back. This is a very picky thing, but it's hard for me to think of anyone in the Potterverse as a 'mom'. 'Mum' is just the word that seems to fit. Like I said, it's very picky, but it's something that sticks out to me whenever I see it. Great work, really loving it!
Response from Muggline (Author of The Godfather)
Thanks for reviewing it - you may calm down already, the next chapter is in the queue. Can you explain why "mom" disturbs you while "mum" doesn't?
Response from rhiannon113 (Reviewer)
Sure. The world of Harry Potter is Brittish, both in setting and in origin. When there is something that is not commonly used in Brit-speak, (mom, guy, etc) it just doesn't feel as Potter-esque. Not to say that it's wrong, it's just that the writing of this story is very true the heart of canon, and the more American terms seem a bit off-key. again, please don't take this as a complaint or anything, just a suggestion offered!
Response from Muggline (Author of The Godfather)
Darling, if you consider THIS a complaint, then you never really got one... ;-)My problem as a non- native speaker is that I lack any feeling for "American" or "British" use of words. I have to learn those things word for word, place them in my little vocabulary trainer and add the "AE" or "BE" flag. That's why they usually say that one ought not translate into foreign languages. And that's why I depend on input like this. Thank you very much - I am going to check every single chapter and change it.

You must post the next chapter as soon as possible if not sooner. This is such a great story. Seeing Severus feel so much for his godson is heart warming. It shows such a different side of him. I also like the relationship between Him and Hermione, it is more realistic then some of the other storys I have read. They dont just fall into each others arms, but try first to get to know each other.
Response from Muggline (Author of The Godfather)
Do you have the impression that Severus tries to get to know her?

OMG, that is a MOSTE EVILE CLIFF-HANGER! Oh my goodness! PLEASE tell me you have the next chapter ready to go. PLEASE!! I don' think I can take the suspense! This was a great chapter, and I REALLY can't wait for the next one!

This time, I can promise it for real: the next chapter has already been beta-read and is sitting at the end of the queue...

Oh that's just MEAN!!! You can't have poor Albus die :-( I would hate to see what Severus will do if he does. Looking forward to a new chapter SOON!

This is the most amazing story I've ever read...really...I just can't wait for the next chapter...I sure hope it will be updated sooner than later...Thanks so much for this wonderful story!!!
It has been so long since you have last updated. I have been hanging onto the edge of my seat! What happens next?!!! This is an evil cliffie to have us hanging on for soooo long. Anyway, I love the story and OBVIOUSLY looking forward to the next update!!!

I am very sorry, but there's nothing I can do, really. I sent the next chapter to my beta quite a while ago, but she has been flooded with work and can't find the time to read it at the moment.
Response from geomancer (Reviewer)
I understand how it goes, I am just venting. I will joyfully celebrate when the chapter comes out (hopefully it will be a bit more of a joyful chapter) Thanks for all your work and to your beta as well, I know what it is to be busy.

These last two chapters do provide some insight into this Severus... Nothing like a vulnerable bad man to turn a girl's heart to mush, eh? Looking forward to more!

Well, as I said - the next chapter has entered the beta process, but since Karelia is moving house, it might take some time...

I love this story. It's touching how much Snape loves his godson but at the same time, it's sad that he feels he has nothing else to live for. Please update again soon.

Yes, I guess that summarizes the feelings most reviewers have on the subject. However, we may count on Hermione to make him see the light...

I feel so sad for him. I knew he would be broken if the boy were to die. I just can hope that he will make through it. And by he I mean both Little Al and Severus. This chapter is just absolutely brilliant.

Oh, my. That was something. I like that Snape cursed Hagrid, actually, it was very Snapey. And I like what he said to Hermione.

Poor little Albus Severus! I feel sorry for Snape too--pinning all his love and hope on one small boy. I think he has a bad case of tunnel vision: he can't (or won't) see that there are others that care for him (Harry and Ginny, etc.) and even love him (we know who that is!). Maybe only a crisis like this could open his eyes...Great dramatic tension--wonderful chapter! More soon, please?

that last line was poetry.i feel almost humbled to read this, with all the bustle around me so far away from the controlled tension you created in this chapter. teetering on the edge of despair... absolutely brilliant!

Finally a chapter where I can say that I liked and respected Severus. He is a brilliant Potions Master, and I fully believe that when he loves, he loves completly and he would do anything, absolutely anything to save that someone. His promise to look after James, a boy he has avoided like the plague, shows only the linnings of his care for Albus Severus. I can even understand him hexing Hagrid. We all know that Hagrid would rather have died than hurt the child, but he was careless by leaving such poisioned berries where children could reach them.

As I said before: only parents seem to see those small, but potentially dangerous things. Thanks for your faithful and honest reviews!

Hopefully he will weather the dehydration with the helps of some potions and come around.

Let's hope little Albus survives for everyone's sake. Scary chapter, especially if you have little one like I do.

Let's face it: these things happen all the time. Best be extra careful. My son tried the effects of a metal spiral inside the holes of the power outlet once - thank god the spiral had a very high electric resistance and he only got a shock...

Wonderful chapter....so well written! I was right there with the writer. I'm not even going to ask how this turns out. I can hardly wait for the next chapter

The picture of devestation you print is compellingly beautiful. I pray the child lives for he is the first person living or dead Severus has loved unconditionally and has loved him unconditionally as well. I doubt Harry realized it at the time, but naming Severus Godfather probably saved his life.Irish

Thanks for your insightful review. I never saw it this way, but now that you mentioned it, I guess you might be right - he would probably have let himself die in the long run.

So sad... wow. I sure hope all work out fine. Great story and I can't wait for more updates! Thank you for translating. By the way, is the story completed in German?
Response from Muggline (Author of The Godfather)
No, it isn't. Chapter 26 in German posted last week. Marisol is in the middle of her end-of-study thesis and can't write as much as she would like to at the moment.

omg..how sad that severus thinks all he has is the love of child to keep him going..time for hermione to step up and disabuse him of the thought!!! Great story so far..

Poor, dear Severus. If Albus experiences too many side effects, he will blame himself for that antidote.
Response from Muggline (Author of The Godfather)
I don't think so. It was a choice between "die at once" and "get a chance". It's the same thing for most pediatrists all over the world: most medicaments are only tested on adult males between 18 - 30. But women, children, sometimes even different races, react differently! So it's like russian roulette sometimes.

great chapter! devastating in some ways. at least albus severus has a chance now. i can't believe anyone would be cruel enough to kill him off, but one never knows.
it is wonderful how severus has let that little boy into his heart, but the picture of him at the end was heartbreaking. i wonder how he will feel about hermione seeing him like that once he realizes how much he let his guard down. i suppose it might depend on what happens with the little one.
please don't make us wait too long to find out what happens next.
