Fanning self... Does any one else find it HOT in here?Everything that happened in the last two chapters before Sev's birthday is gone from my memory. Sensory overload. The Birthday Boy is a little raw around the edges, but that's O.K. Don't mind a bit.Ahem, yes, brain kicking in ... with all of Sirius' disregard for Avery's warnings, I'm wondering what is going to happen over the next few months, and to whom, to compensate for the attacks on Severus. Gads, even Pettigrew has a brighter lightbulb in his brain than Sirius Black.Oh! Livvy, good chapter. No, really. See, I remembered something about the rest of it. Or is that from the last chapter? At least I know there's other folks in the story than just Snape! I definitely remember Snape.

I get the feeling the happiness is soon to come to an end.  But for now, it was lovely.  Their promises to each other were quite intense and I thought the 'betrothal' was important for both of them.  At least Severus understands what his life will probably entail.  How nasty that he will be made to do things he has no interest in for that evil man.

Oh they are so cute in their wantonness.  I only fear that all these promises they make to each other will somehow end badly...  I hope not.  Lovely as always.

Frightening that they feel so deeply for one another, but you know it's all going to be cocked up. I like that Hermione lets Sirius have it. Well deserved. And what a memorable birthday for Severus. ;)

Not much of a Sirius fan here, any chance he'll improve? James seems to be showing some signs of maturity.  I actually felt sorry for him.  I think the idea of the Slytherins negotiating the treatment of other houses is really interesting. Will Hermione's status extend past graduation?

What a great chapter. I love how Hermione had Severus promise to never forget that she truly cares about him. That Severus tends to forget things when he's really upset! I'm so glad to see Hermione sticking to her guns with Lily and dealing with her temper tantrums. Someone needs to tell that gir she's not a kindergartner anymore, seriously. Finally! They're getting somewhere! This chapter was very satisfying, especially with the breather you gave us from Lily's selfish drones. But I wouldn't change a single thing about the way you're writing her, definitely a character I love to hate.

I can't wait to see how their relationship will develop once they get back to school. I will be sorely disappointed if you don't give us a good confrontation between Hermione and Lily over this! lol

In a lot of ways, I see Harry in Lily. For such a kind girl according to Lupin, I don't care for her. She never struck me as discerning or forgiving. Perhaps she would have handled the situation differently at an older age, like silently hexing James. Anyway, I'm enjoying your story and looking forward to your next update.

Squee!  I was going to wait and read your chapter tonight, but I couldn't, and I'm glad I didn't wait.  Simply lovely, Livvy.  You portrayed their new feelings so well, and you managed to keep it young and innocent.  They really seemed like two teenagers falling for one another.  I think that as 'more mature' persons, it's a bit harder for us to capture that youthful innocence.  Your hard work shows throughout this.Now... is something wrong with Severus' mum?  That little aside about her leaving Severus in good hands worries me.

I've had to quickly read though this, so busy at the start of a new semester. But anyway, things are certainly going to change. I wonder whats next for the pair. Look forward to more.

But now I see a good something was on the way. A very good something.   It's sad that kids today are so... sluttish. All they want is to get to the good part, so I'm very happy that you have Severus and Hermione build true feelings behind all that physical attraction. And, of course, that they don't go at it like nifflers. =D

Very evocative. The summer of 1976 was one long heatwave. We had standpipes in the streets. In answer to the review below, yes my gran had an outside loo at the bottom of the garden in the mid 70's. Originally the type of house that the Snape family lived in would have been owned by the factory bosses. They were often two up, two down and back to back, by the 70's they were probably owned by a landlord and rented out.
