You had me hooked from the bedtime story thing...I'm not a Hermione/Snape shipper by nature (I'm more of a Sirius/OC shipper, because Sirius really deserves some lovin' after 13 years in Azkaban) but I see Snape's appeal and I absolutely adore Hermione.Also....I went through hell and high water to read this fic. Mugglenet wouldn't let me see it, so I came all the way here, registered with The Petulant Poetess and found your story on a hunch that it sounded intriguing...Which it is! So...I'm off to chapter 2.-Christina

Love was right out there with running off to the South Seas: an overreaction, far too intense for this point in her life. This line rang very true for me. I cant see Hermione falling head over heels for Snape at this point. He is the one who hinges his whole happiness at being near her. Rather dependant isnt it?

Exactly. She didn't go all ga-ga over Viktor, she's been entirely too patient with Ron, and I don't see her throwing herself at Snape. Which is part of the point of this story, the idea that the power distribution has tweaked around so much, so the teacher is the powerless one and the kid holds the reins. Fair exchanges?
I am impressed SEverus didnt overly freak out when she refered to him as her "boyfriend"

Yes and no. I've always planned to run it through HBP, but the ending (which is already written) is not DH compliant. I read DH rather sparingly, let me put it that way, and don't know the story details very well.

Heh, you know, that's true. The trouble, of course, is that Voldy will undoubtedly be using Legilimency on Draco as well, and he's already instructed Snape to keep his nose out of this business...

What WHAT WHAT did I miss? Did Severus give him a healing potion or something? He looked away as to not see what he knew was going on? Am I being dim?

You're not alone... Most people don't get this chapter, but I never got around to rewriting it. Snape gave Dumby a huge dose of his sunban potion (remember he drank just a spoonful in the dungeon, but gave Dumby a teacup). That's why he comments about the sun being able to cause burns--because Dumby's injury is obviously a magical burn.

Tricky Fawkes! That makes sense b/c AD didnt want Snape to waste time trying to cook him up a potion that would help him. Thanks for explaining it to me! Now I can appreciate the sly humor at work.

Well, as long as Dumby and Sev understood what happened, it's all good. AD talks in HBP about how Snape came up with some tidy solution that saved his life regarding that hand injury, so this was my version.

Hmmm... I know there's a brief revisiting but I hadn't had any specific plans for them. Maybe I can work that in at some point; surely Snape goes into the forest sometime in HBP?

He would go into the forest to take a walk? gather potions ingredients, secret sun bathing spot, clandestine meeting, see if he fathered any foals, outdoor romp with HG. Plenty of reasons!!
