"...glided over to the bed and wriggled inside the sleeve of his nightshirt." Oh! Lovely. I had a pet bird that would do the same thing, and yes we both got a restful sleep. Sometimes she slept in my sleeve, sometimes under the covers with her beak resting on my ankles, and sometimes she wanted to be held and would peck me if I moved during the night.This has been a sweet, refreshing tale. Well written, a joy to read. :-)

Thanks! What a wonderful little pet that must have been. My sister had a scarlet macaw that would sit on her lap all evening and preen every hair on her head--including eyelashes--by picking up each individual one with its mouth and sort of scouring it from one end to the other. Cuddly birds are awesome! Given the whole greasy hair thing, I didn't think the owl ought to try that on Sev--he might get a gallstone or something...

Eyelashes, yup, that's right. Stealing food from you mouth. Demanding to take baths with you, and even take her own by herself. Birds are lovely creatures. I'm so glad Snape has one now himself. :-)
