Severus Snape’s life was changed when he was hit by an errant spell, and he comes to a decision that defies Dumbledore’s wishes. Even the fate of the wizarding world is altered by this one ill-cast curse and Snape’s subsequent resolve. Long after the spell itself has dissipated, its effects continue echoing in the lives of Severus, Albus, Minerva, and Hermione, and they bring with them a shadowy figure whom Snape does not trust and whose motivations and influence on Minerva are murky. Conspiracies and schemes swirl around Severus as he continues on his path of deception to his final confrontation with the Dark Lord.

Reviews for Death's Dominion
Sigh. I am so sorry for not reviewing sooner. I thought I had, but alas, I saw no little red check-thing. I look, and ::face palm::. I suppose late is better than never, right??I really loved this epilogue. So much of it brought tears to my eyes at how Severus has changed, but does not yet know how to cope, or who he is. There is that glimmer of his new life emerging, and yet, he is still haunted by his past.Somehow, I think Hermione is just the person to help him accept his past and build a new life. I was very happy that he accepted her advice about the coming school year. I am looking forward to reading your current work, now that I "think" I have a bit of time this summer. The ending is just lovely. I could hug you.Stef
Response from MMADfan (Author of Death's Dominion)
Hi! I thought maybe RL had gotten tough and you hadn't been able to finish it, so no worries! Late is better than never! :-)Yes, Severus has undergone a lot of change, and there's more to come, though he has no idea how to do it yet. Good thing he has friends.I'm glad that you enjoyed the epilogue and I hope you like its sequel! And I definitely appreciate the hug. Thanks!
Another great chapter. Severus finally gets the recognition that he so deserves. I love it that Severus got recognized with a whole new class of Order of Merlin instead of getting a first class Order of Merlin like most did at the awards. I truly loved the speech that Blaise gave to thank and honour Severus; it would only truly mean something to Severus if a Slytherin said those words about him. I also liked what Neville said about Severus too, especially him repeating the phrase 'Don’t be a victim, Longbottom.' That's about all I have to say about this chapter so onto the last chapter.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Death's Dominion)
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :-)
This was a very interesting chapter and sorry it took me so long to get to read it again. I thought that Severus would throw Albus out of his room when he found out about everything, but he didn't. Instead he seemed to not want Albus to leave like Albus would disappear if Albus did; I guess it just shows how much Albus means to Severus even if he feels angry and upset about everything that he found out from Albus. It will take time for him to forgive Albus and Minerva, especially Albus since I believe one of the feelings Severus is feeling is betrayal. It was nice of Hermione to give Severus the newspapers that he was denighed until now. I believe she knows how Severus is feeling even if he doesn't, she mostly pointed out what feelings he is feeling to him while talking to him in this chapter. I was surprised that Gerturde Gamp would say that Severus did good with Slytherin House; I wonder if she has forgiven him for what he did to her or not. It was nice to see Quin up and around visiting Hogwarts and being able to be in the wizarding world again. It's nice that Severus will go to the Order of Merlin Awards even if he is only going to support Hermione and his Slytherins. That's all for now. I'll try to start reading the next chapter tonight or tomorrow.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Death's Dominion)
Yes, Hermione tried to show Severus that she understands at least a little of what he must be going through, and that helped him, whether he would admit it or not.Gertrude being a Slytherin dealing with another Slytherin wouldn't necessarily come right out and say "I've forgiven you," at least not in this context, not when this was their first meeting since that awful night. And whether she's forgiven him ... you may remember (or not!) that back when Gareth met Severus for the first time, he said various things about his mother which implied that she had come to terms with things better than he had himself, and Gareth said something about not "being the wizard his mother and aunt want him to be," or something like that. Remember, too, that Gertrude was fully informed about everything when she was doing the Arithmancy for Minerva, so she knows a lot about Severus and what he's done. Now that he's survived the war, Gertrude knows that he needs to be able to start again, and she wanted to make a gesture toward him that recognised him not just as the wizard who had maimed her, but as the wizard who was loyal to Albus (which means a lot to Gertrude) and who did his best in the fight against Voldemort. It wasn't really about Slytherin House and its students, or not only about them. In addition, it was for her own sake. If she's moving back into wizarding society again, she needs to be able to confront certain facts, too.Glad you liked the chapter. Hope the ending of the story works for you! :-) Thanks for the review!
A very action packed chapter. I enjoyed the final battle very much. GO SNAPE'S SLYTHERINS!!! If Severus was at the final battle, he would have be very proud of all the Slytherins that fought with the rest of the school for what is right and just. I was very suprised that Lucius was still alive when Gareth found him. The 'little toe-rag' totally underestimated Minerva and Albus, it just shows how insane and stupid HE really was. It was interesting that Harry was able to take back his blood from the 'little toe-rag' and that is what killed HIM at the end.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Death's Dominion)
I am glad you liked the final battle. I started writing that very early on when I was drafting the story, and I hoped that the pacing would work. Glad you liked the manner of the "toe-rag's" death. I wanted to have it consonant with the (first part of) canon and to have it echo back to the events in GoF. In a way, he was his own victim -- certainly a victim of his own hubris, but also of his actions. Thanks for the review!
Sorry, it took me like forever to read this chapter and didn't have much time this past week to do it. I enjoyed this chapter very much since it is in the POV of Hermione and shows a different prespective of what happened at the Shack, while last chapter was in Severus' POV and his prespective of what happened to him. I'm glad that Hermione finally got to find out who 'Robbie' really is. Severus is really lucky that Hermione and Robbie followed him and had the medical kits with the antivenin in them, if not he would have died for sure. I'm really surprised about Scrimgeour helping defend the Ministry and now Hogwarts. I always thought he was a selfish pig-headed git in the books like Fudge, but in this story I actually like him. When I was reading about the Celebrare in this chapter I was thinking that Albus was being a real stubborn pig-headed old coot, who needs to stop questioning Minerva and just have sex with her already. Hey, the Celebrare did work and maybe now Albus will not question Minerva in the future. I have two questions though:1) Is Philomena Yaxley related to the Death Eater Yaxley that was in the books?2) Who is the witch that Robbie mentioned to Hermione that would watch over the captured Death Eaters at the end?
Response from MMADfan (Author of Death's Dominion)
Your questions first:1) Pilomena Yaxley is related by marriage to the DE Yaxley -- he's her husband's nephew's son, if I remember correctly (Philomena shows up in Resolving a Misunderstanding; her only actual appearance is in the chapter "Meeting Morag," if you'd like to read it -- she's mentioned elsewhwere in the story, but that's where she shows up). She's a Flint by birth, though. Oh, and she's a Ravenclaw. 2) The answer to that question will be answered in a future chapter of DD, so I don't want to give it away here, but Poppy tells Severus in the chapter "Guerdon unsought." Yes, Albus can be pig-headed and stubborn sometimes, and very sure that he's right. It can be rather annoying for Minerva at times! LOL! That's one reason that Minerva teases Robbie about being so agreeable. haha!My Scrimgeour is a pretty arrogant fellow, too, but as he says to Philomena, he's a better Auror than a Minister. He's another wizard who, like Albus, thinks a lot of his own abilities and opinions. A young Scrimgeour appears in Resolving a Misunderstanding in the section of chapters of "Minerva's Mission" -- Resolving a Misunderstanding is long, but it has distinct sections. That's Part 4, and begins with chapter 17. He's kind of full-of-himself there, too. But he became Minister for Magic for a reason, and has been an Auror for decades, so he's not like the parchment-pushing Fudge in that respect.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Death's Dominion)
Oh, and thank you for the review! I'm glad you liked the chapter!
Response from ArcticSeasons (Reviewer)
Thanks for answering my questions. I think I only skimmed the chapter "Guerdon Unsought" or if I read the whole chapter I don't remember. I will pay close attention when I read that chapter when I get to it.
Ok - so I got impatient and switched from ff.netThe conclusion to this tale was well-paced and fufilling. I often find myself frustrated that things haven't ended up exactly how I would like them but with the exception that I would possibly have liked to see a little more MM in the end I enjoyed this thoroughly. Your characterisations continued to be superb; Hermione was carefully placed not to be too simpering and love sick, Severus' confusion and temerament ideal and the mix of profound understanding and that little edge of aristocracy (the rings!) in Blaise was perfect! As ever, thank you so much for sharing and I shale go forth and read more of your works.Linds x
Response from MMADfan (Author of Death's Dominion)
I'm very glad you enjoyed the last chapters of the story, and that you found it satisfying. :-) I'm glad, too, that you liked the characterisations. I'm always partial to more MM, myself, so I understand the sentiment!DD's probably my best fic, but I hope you enjoy some of the others, too. You might like to try some of the one-shots.Thanks very much for reviewing -- I appreciate it. :-)
This was a very interesting chapter since it had a lot going on. First of all, Severus has finally excepted Hermione as a friend and told her so. But at the same time it saddens me that it took so long, especially since when it happens he thinks it's their last time seeing each other.Second, it must have been very difficult for Severus to be able to open the tomb and see the 'little toe-rag' desecrate the Headmasters' body like that. I couldn't imagine being able to do that no matter the circumstances. Third, it was touching to see the 'last good-bye' Severus gave Minerva. It shows how close they truly are to each other and that their friendship means so much to them. And lastly, it is heartening to know that Severus thinks he is loved and cared for by others when he is 'dying' and not have him think that all the Wizarding World thinks of him as a traitor. I'm glad that Severus fought to the end and finally told the 'little toe-rag' what he thinks of HIM.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Death's Dominion)
Those last days and hours that Severus spent were not as bleak as they could have been, and better than other occasions in his life, because he had people who were persistent in trying to be his friend and because he alllowed them into his life. As painful as it all was, you are right: Severus finds dying to be about more than just revenge and resignation, but he knows that he is loved and he finds comfort in it.I am really glad that you enjoyed the chapter, and that you found it satisfying. I hope that you enjoy the rest of the chapters!Thank you for all your reviews. I've enjoyed reading them and hearing what you think and what struck you. Thanks!
Hmmm I wonder what Minervas plan was before Albus died. I still do not like the library scenebut Robbert reallys eems to have the best for Minerva in mind even though he is self-centered at times. I think though, he is suspiciously like Albus... I wonder what they did. Oooh I bet it has something to do with polijuice, hmm but how can that be.... Well I guess we will find out eventually. I think its a pity moody got so little attention in the books. I would havel iked to know more about him. But then many secondary characters didnt really get the time they deserved imho. Of course the books were long enough as is.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Death's Dominion)
I am trying to think of when Robbie may have been self-centred in the chapters up through 16, and I'm having a tough time. He does have a bit of humour at Severus's expense that time outside the Headmistress's Tower, but it was kinda funny . . .Yes, you'll find out all eventually. That's why this is "suspense"! haha! Anyway, it's all complicated, particularly since POV is important; each character filters what they see and how they react, what they say and what they think, through a subjective lens that may or may not provide a "wide angle," and which may have some details blurry and others in sharp relief, depending upon how they individually focus on events.Glad you're still enjoying the story. :-)
UGh I HATE htat Crouch person! Even if he doesnt turn out to be bad (which I cannot imagine after what he did to Minerva) I hope Severus gets rid of him in the end.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Death's Dominion)
You mean, after what they did together? Minerva was quite happy.Interesting that Severus's POV is so powerful in this chapter. ;-)Thanks for the review!
I wonder what happened to bring this all along. Maybe I did not read the last few chapters of the prequel well enough which i squite possible but I am sure Severus told Minerva about what Albus was planning, for Severus to kill albus in a mercy killing o improve his standing. What happened in the end that killed albus since I am not sure severus would be able in his current state. And why is Minerva so bitter towards him? Did Draco kill Albus in the end? I wonder why the portrait of Albus has not appeared yet to give Minerva some kind of support. I wonder if this Robert was in any of the other fics that I have not read. Funny, he is of the seem country that I am, the Netherlands. A pity the children dont get a proper defense teacher anymore like Severus undoubtedly is.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Death's Dominion)
Yes, Robert Crouch first appeared in Resolving a Misunderstanding. I think it is the first couple chapters here that you might need to reread, since it is in chapter one that Severus decides to tell Minerva about it all and in chapter two that he tells her about it. Fortunately, the Defense teacher that year is good, too. Robbie does quite a good job, though I think you learn more about that later on in the story.Enjoy!
Another interesting chapter. I enjoyed the soap opera that was performed. Too bad it didn't help Severus out of murdering Minerva. Hermione didn't seem too upset by what happened to her childhood home, but then again everything of value or meaning was removed. There is something that is bothering me though, how is it that the 'little toe-rag' thinks Hermione's parents are on a long holiday and not in hiding if all the pictures and irreplacable items are missing from the house? Did Hermione somehow used a spell to copy the pictures and other things to fool the 'little toe-rag'; that's the only thing I could think of.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Death's Dominion)
He doesn't think that they're on a holiday. That's why he asks Severus where they are. If I were in a stranger's home, I wouldn't notice whether there were photograph albums and such missing. In addition, Riddle didn't grow up in a normal home. As long as everything looks superficially as though they just "stepped out," he wouldn't notice anything else. Besides, as I say, Riddle doesn't think they were on a long holiday. He does believe they're in hiding -- remember that he mentions the date on the calendar is from the previous summer (it's been a while since I looked at this chapter, so I don't remember the exact date). He's being sarcastic when Severus suggests that maybe they're just on holiday. Nope, he does think that they've disappeared and presumes that he won't find them before he attacks Hogwarts. That's one reason he tells Severus to keep an eye on Hermione herself. Hermione was expecting something to happen; it was actually something of a shock to her, since she'd become complacent and come to believe that nothing was going to happen to it. Yes, she was shocked, but not hysterical. Many people do not go into hysterics when shocked, I've found.Glad you enjoyed the chapter. Hope that cleared up anything that wasn't evident in the chapter! :-) Thanks for reviewing!
Another interesting chapter. I enjoyed Minerva's and Severus' conversation at the beginning. Minerva telling Severus how important he is to her and everyone else was very sweet of her; it made him realize it's better to fight to the end then just give up and die. I thought it was nice of Gareth to give a flick blade to Severus and it shows that he does have Severus' back. Hopefully this is another step in their mutual respect for each other. More preparations are done to get ready for the fight they will eventually have with the 'little toe-rag.' (I just love using that name now instead of using HIS other names. ) I'm glad that Robbie talked to Neville because Robbie is right in what he said to Neville, it's better to have your strength and energy to fight then to have your defences weakened, and it is never a good idea to kill anyone unless it is necessary.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Death's Dominion)
Yeah, "the little toe-rag" has a real ring to it, doesn't it? haha! Not giving up, being willing to fight for his life, is important here, and Severus won't just go to Voldy at the end and give up, even if it does seem hopeless. Yes, the flick blade that he originally threatened Severus with has now become both a symblo of their budding friendship and another tool for Severus to have at his disposal, even if he doesn't think it will help, and even if he does think the offer of friendship is pointless. Hopefully, he'll live to believe differently! Thanks for your reviews! I've enjoyed reading them!
Another great chapter. I liked that Minerva confronted Albus right away after finding out the truth. She kept at him until Albus told her all that she wanted to know. Albus is so stubburn in this chapter; he thinks his way is the only way. That's why I enjoyed the end when Minerva underminds Albus and takes control of the situation they are in.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Death's Dominion)
Yep, Albus was stubborn, but Minerva was more stubborn -- and he's not quite used to being out-manoeuvered! Glad you liked it. Thanks for the review!
This was a great chapter. The first part where Severus is with Albus and having their last conversation was very sad and I cried some. I was surprised by what Minerva did with Draco. I thought at first she was deranged like Draco thought, but what she did got through to him and at the end let him choose the right path to take. I'm glad you wrote this chapter because I was wondering how Severus viewed Albus' death and this captured how he was feeling at that time.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Death's Dominion)
I'm glad you liked it, sad parts and all. And yes, Minerva did seem a bit deranged at first, behaving so oddly with Draco, but she wanted him off-kilter and ready to face and trust a new choice. You see here how Albus's death affected Severus, and how, too, he tried not to let it distract him from what he had to do.Thanks for the reviwe!
This was a long chapter, but very good. I enjoyed it when Severus flys out of the Chamber of Secrets and surprises Hermione. It made me . This chapter shows how concerned and worried Severus is for Hermione. Too bad he still has trouble admitting that she is a friend, even though he sees her as one. I was surprised he saw Poppy at all and let her do her duty without complaint. Their conversation was interesting, even she brought up Gamp. And at the end of their conversation he was trying to get away from the guilt he was feeling. I really enjoyed that Minerva calls the Dark Lord 'little toe-rag.' I also had to at that too. Like I have said before, it is sad that Severus has no hope for himself to live and having a future after the war. It is so ingrained into him that it is a part of him. I can see Minerva is trying to give him hope, but when you feel the way Severus does no one will change your mind unless something changes it for you.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Death's Dominion)
Severus hasn't had much practice in the "friendship" department; between that and the stress he's under and his firm belief that he'll die soon, etc., I guess it's not a surprise that he can't seem to admit yet that Hermione is a friend. Of course, he also wouldn't admit that he was jealous of Hermione's working with MacAirt, either -- whom he sees as a much better-looking, more socially-acceptable colleague than he is, making it harder for him to deal with. Glad you had a couple moments! The chapters begin to get longer as the pace of the story changes. Some of them may be too long to practicallly read in one sitting, depending on RL time constraints. You are right about Severus trying to get away from his guilt at the end of his conversation with Poppy. One reason he went up at all was because he was humoring Hermione, one reason he stayed and talked to her was because he thought he could get some valuable information out of her. It was valuable, although it didn't confirm what he'd wanted it to.You're right: Severus has no hope that he'll live to see the end of the war, and he has no reason for hope that he can see. Whether that changes . . .Thanks for the review!
Another great chapter. I really enjoyed the Severus and Hermione interaction in this chapter alot. It seems he is finding spending time with her, even alittle, to be enjoyable. He even complimented her with a well done when talking about the Horcruxes. It is sad that he still thinks he as no future and will die sometime during or at the end of the war, even Hermione can't get him out of that mind set. At least her friendship and trust is a comfront to him during these trying times.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Death's Dominion)
It's one of the relationships that Severus develops during the course of this story that's either new or has a new dimension to it, and as you say, it does give him comfort and it helps to give him strength to make it through and not give up. The various sources of support are all important for Severus, and Hermione's friendship is not the least of those. He has spent too much of his life alone and isolated by his role and other factors. I'm glad you enjoy his interaction with Hermione. It is certainly a relief and something of a novelty for him -- as he noted in the previous chapter, there are those in the Order who are "kind" to him, but even aside from the issue of trust, he really has had no one aside from Minerva (and Albus, though that was a difficult relationship) whom he could consider a friend.Thank you for reviewing! I enjoy hearing from you!
This was a very entertaining chapter. Minerva's passwords are very amusing, especially "ass." If only Minerva knew that Hermione does know and wasn't angry at the least, but seemed to understand. Severus is mostly right with what he told Minerva, very few people are kind to him and even less trust him. Minerva says she trusts and doesn't hate him but her actions say different. If that was true she wouldn't have implied that it was Severus' fault for what happened to Albus and would have forgiven him by now too. Unless she has and what she told Severus is all a lie and she is acting at this moment. And Crouch, he is acting too much like Dumbledore. I'm surprised that Severus didn't figure out that Crouch really isn't Crouch after Crouch went into Minerva's office.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Death's Dominion)
Ah, but Severus saw events unfolding the previous spring, and he is very suspicious of Crouch, and later on in the story, he does worry that Crouch isn't Crouch. But enough on that. I try not to have spoilers in my review responses . . . (I know some people check out story or chapter reviews before they read a story, and given that this is in the mystery/suspense category, and that some people enjoy the mystery/suspense aspect of it ;-), I do try to avoid giving away too much!)As for Minerva . . . read on! ;-) But remember that when Minerva was crying in the library, one of the things she seemed upset about was how things weren't the same between her and Severus -- and see, too, how she was with Severus by the end of this chapter & their conversation. Thanks for reviewing!
Response from ArcticSeasons (Reviewer)
In the future. if I ask a question and give a comment that compromises the mystery/suspense of the story then just say you will answer at a later time. I will understand since I don't want to spoil the rest of the story for anyone. I try with my reviews to think of each chapter as I've not read the end but sometimes it's really hard.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Death's Dominion)
:-) Will do! If you're ever really curious about something specific that you're afraid might have a spoiler-response, just let me know and I can PM/email you through the TPP system. I understand, and also it can sometimes be hard to remember which events happen in which chapters and what the chapter order is (does that make any sense? I'm half-asleep after a long day), since there are lparts of the story that aren't told in chronological order, but which are in later chapters even though they are earlier events, so it can be confusing.Okay, before I become more confusing (and confused!) myself, I'm going to toddle off to read your next review!I'm glad you're enjoying the story!
Another great chapter. I see Harry still doesn't trust Severus at all. It seems that Ron and Luna are growing closer and are more than just friends. I see Hermione finally finds out about 'the plan' about the Deathly Hollows. It seems that Severus and Hermione are confortable with each other and a true friendship is starting between them. Severus got quite a show in the library. I'm surprised Crouch didn't check to make sure no one was in the library before warding the door, if their relationship is truly a secret. I never thought Minerva would be into something that kinky and especially doing it in the library of all places.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Death's Dominion)
Yes, Hermione and Severus are definitely becoming comfortable with each other.I guess "kinky" is in the eye of the beholder, or do-er, or something. The library is a bit of an unusual place, though! I guess some people always are face-to-face and that's just fine. (In later pregnancy, it's sometimes easier the other way, actually . . . Though not standing up, of course . . . Erm, so I understand . . . *blush*)Yep, Crouch was negligent and over-confident (over-confidence can lead to making mistakes sometimes!) in not checking the library FIRST! Eeep!Poor Severus, an on-looker again, and this time, unlike in An Act of Love, he had no place to retreat to! At least he was "himself" this time, and not in the thrall of that curse . . .Thanks for the reviews!
Great chapter. Crouch has a way to bring out the guilt in Severus without even trying after their first meeting. You can see that Minerva dislikes Severus now since she will not use his first name when addressing him. I'm surprised that Albus had enough strength to talk to Severus at all a month before he dead.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Death's Dominion)
Ah, yes, Crouch merely has to BE to bring out the guilt in Severus. And that's not a bad thing here, as you likely realize, since Severus can't move forward w/o leaving the past behind, which means facing up to certain things. Hard, but hopefully worth it!Minerva is certainly holding him at a distance here; whether she actually dislikes him or not . . . you said yourself she'd be more likely to be angry with Albus than with Severus.Albus will keep going until he absolutely is unable to any longer. Thanks for the review. Glad you're still enjoying the story!
An interesting chapter. After the conversation with Minerva, hopefully Severus finally got through to Harry that he shouldn't come and go from the school as he pleases. That doing the other tasks are more important than the task at the school is at the moment.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Death's Dominion)
Yep, not wanting to spend the next month-plus in detention every evening, Harry left Hogwarts (hence his dramatic exit from the classroom, haha!), and he brought a couple companions with him . . . Of course, at that point, Harry just thought that Severus was being a git and trying to keep him from doing what he needed to do. As Robbie said, something akin to reverse psychology there. Thanks for the review!
Interesting chapter. Didn't think that Petunia and Dudley would go along with the plan to get Harry to safety.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Death's Dominion)
Her fear of death probably had a little something to do with it! Especially death by magical means. Thanks for the review!
This was a great chapter, even though the end of the chapter was sad. I don't believe Minerva really is angry with Severus as she is with Albus. Severus is the only one in the room with her so she is lashing out on him to make herself feel better. If she is feeling betrayed, I don't think this is something that should be considered to throw their friendship away. Severus has done more horrible things than to tell her of 'the plan,' that Albus is dying, and of the Vow.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Death's Dominion)
I think that Severus's fear that he's lost her friendship comes from the Vow to kill Albus and his admission that he likely would have carried it out if it hadn't been for the Adfectus. You're right, though, that her anger with Albus is greater, and that Severus is the only one present to lash out at. Severus is used to alienating others -- and finds it difficult or impossible to forgive hurts against himself -- so he has come to expect it, even now from Minerva. But thankfully, Minerva is not Severus and so her reaction will not be what he fears . . . I'm glad that you liked the chapter! Thanks for the review!
An interesting chapter. Albus is so intent on carrying out the 'plan', even after saving Severus' life. Its nice to see Minerva helping Severus with his dreaming and emotions. It shows what a great friend she is to him. I believe it is a good idea for Severus to tell Minerva of the 'plan', even if he does loose his two only friends. At least she will know the truth. Severus is in the position of damned if you do and damned if you don't. Basically he is in a no win situation.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Death's Dominion)
Yes, Albus is being stubborn and unreasonable -- although he wouldn't see it that way at this point. And this is one of the many brave things that Severus does. Facing Minerva with the news is a hard choice. As you say, he is in a catch-22 situation. Thanks for the review! :-)
I found this story on another site and decided to read it here since it was finished. I have read the last 10 or so chapters and have decided to read the whole story now. What I have read is very good and very interesting. The poem at the beginning of this chapter fits and not just in the first chapter but the others too. All I want to say is if Harry knew what he did at the end of the story his interaction with Severus in this chapter would have been so very different. Harry wouldn't have seem so arrogant and cold; he would have realized that Severus was suffering just as much as he was and maybe even more.

I'm glad that you enjoyed what you read. The poem is a good one, and I thought it appropriate. My favorite Dylan Thomas poem, though, is "Fern Hill," which is a much brighter kind of poem.It certainly does give a different sort of point-of-view to the story to read the end of it first, particularly given the structure of the story and its design, but I'm glad you're still intrigued enough to begin again from the beginning.I don't know if either of them could have felt or done anything differently from the way that they did at the time that the first five or six chapters take place -- as you say, they both experience a lot during the course of a year and a half, and they both had a lot to learn and progress to make. Thank you very much for the review. I appreciate it very much. I hope that you continue to enjoy the story and that it's still a pleaurable read without the suspense and mystery! :-)Have fun!
Woo hoo. Can't wait to see Snape's reaction!
