Variety Challenge first runner up. Hermione Granger is given a Time-Turner and instructions to use it. Only, using a Time-Turner can be a little tricky if not used correctly: a mistake made in counting or a slip of fingers can make the user jump irregularly and thus she could accidentally alter her time line. And when such an accident happens, Severus Snape uses Hermione’s Time-Turner in order to fix a horrific wrong. However, it’s his younger self that becomes the one who must ensure that history is not altered.

I love to write. A dreamer, a creator and filled with wonder, imagination and life. Sometimes I get lost in the other worlds I've read and in some I create. It's all good, I’m in good company.
“Imagination does not become great until human beings, given the courage and the strength, use it to create.”― Maria Montessori
“Our imagination flies -- we are its shadow on the earth.”― Vladimir Nabokov
“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions.”― Albert Einstein
“Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were, but without it we go nowhere.” ― Carl Sagan

I enjoy reading the story. But I'm confused and I hope you can clear some things up.Hermione goes back to 1993 but she miscalculated her return time and needs to hide again? Is that right? Then we come to learn she travelled back to the 1970's not once but three times? And once it was Lily Evans who met her?If her time turner keeps fouling up so much, why not get a new one? Or just drop the whole thing?Ulitmately I understand it is a prop to bring Hermione and Severus closer together and somehow change the future in a positive but innocuous manner.I do love all the little potion details you write about.

I'll see if I can. Hermione's first jump was a complete disaster. I know. Snape(adult) used her time-turner (the overused-melted-one) but he'd had it for years in the box. (This is mentinoed in a later chapter - in that time-line, Vold won, Snape Headmaster... etc.)Hermione's second jump, she returns from 1976 to 1993, and yes, knows she needs to hide again. So McGonagall tucks her away a week until time catches back up to her. McGonagall tells Dumbledore about the mix up, but neither are told about the two-decade jump unitl Snape admits it. And yes, this Snape in this timeline remembers two additional mishaps.
Your third question is actually answered in two times. Dumbledore asking Severus on the way to the dungeons if he'd indulge the curosity of two old men (Latimer and Dumbledore) and again in a discussion between Latimer, Dumbledore and Hermione, but that is in a later chapter. (She gets scolded a bit)
and to answer you - yes, yes, and possibly - or one possible outcome.
Thank you for your review. Does this help any? I'm glad you like the potions stuff.
Thank you so much for the intirguing email, and I really apreciate your honesty.

Now I get it * reader slaps palm to forehead for being such a dunderhead*. I really should have more than one cup of coffee in the morning I guess.Thank you for explaining that.

That is sooo confising! But I still love time-turner stories!

What's confusing, Gabi? Can I help?
The title becomes very apt in this chapter! :)

LOl Yes, it was after writing this one that I named the story.
Why didn't they take the time turner away? Young Snape is handling this awfully well. Old snape too.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Latimer's baby? and here he has a young witch to try it out for him - he'll be facinated by her story and explanations! Old fart! Yes, Snape and Sev are trying to keep things together.
Poor Hermione. Such lack of self-esteem, but that comes with the age, doesn't it? At least Harry and Ginny are still treating her well. I do wish that Severus had more time for her. It isn't the same as having a boyfriend, but in some ways, he fills some of her needs that she misses from her peers. I do hope he figures out what Draco is up to. If you are following canon, I fear the end of this year and its effect on the poor girl.

I'm trying to write her at the age she is, and yes, at times, especially for bookworms and swots, there is some self-esteem issues. When she's older those characteristics are valued, but as a kid, she'd have been teased if Harry and Ron and Ginny hadn't befriended her. it woudl be good if Severus did have the time, but eh's also trying to fight off his true feelings toward the girl. Yes, I'm following canon. Thank you for reading and for the review.

Hey there! I love what you've got going on here. I was really enjoying Severus being uncomfortable with the thought of her being naked. And then how he was beating himself up over being a perv because she's so young...funny stuff. I can't wait to see what this trip back in time means for the future! Please update again soon! Much Love ~ Brena
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. Yes, he's 16 going on 17 and she's 14, but he's feeling guilty bacause to teens a girl two or three years younger is a big deal! Thank you for reading and the review.
This is great. I can't wait to see the adult snape's reaction to her when she returns. I imagine he will be less than comfortable, given that he knows what she looks like under the robes. He thought he was a perv at 16, he'll be miserable now.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. Oh, you know, you'll have to wait and see. Thank you for reading and the review.
This getting very good, I can't wait until the next update. Avery is up to something, I just know it.

Thank you very much. He's just wondering why Severus is always off on his own again, but curiosity can be a bad thing.Thank you for reading and reviewing.

oh, thanks.
What a fabulous chapter this is! She’s naked? No! She wouldn’t—couldn’t! He swallowed again, fully aware now that she wore next to nothing under the covers, and the part of his anatomy that shouldn’t have reacted to a thirteen-year-old girl did. Or fourteen—she might be… Oh, shite! Get a grip! She’s just a little girl who will leave at the end of the week!
When I read this it cracked me up! Poor Severus was so shocked he couldn't decide whether or not she was too young for him or not. And then he got his brain up to speed and the big head told the little head that whatever her age, he should NOT be having those thoughts about this recently arrived girl from the future.Good, Mother of Merlin! I’m not a pervert! She’s—she—oh shite! Gods, I hope she didn’t see. He hurried to the loo. It’s still early. Everyone’s asleep, I hope. LOL!!!=====
I loved it when Severus relented and allowed Hermione to help in preparing the ingredients he needed to brew the potions he was working on. And she even taught him something new... using the Saline solution to get the sea snails to produce more secretions... something his older self had taught her in her own time. Oops!I think he is gaining a real respect for her, for her talents in Potions and for her intellect. She has such a wide range of interests, and she reminds him of himself. This could be the start of something BIG!But alas, she will have to entertain herself for most of the day. He can’t come back to see her until very late because Avery want his help. I don’t know what she will decide to do if she becomes very board. She had hoped he would be able to take her to the bathroom again so she could have a proper bath and really brush her teeth. But that is not gonna happen... unless she decides to try to get there on her own. That could easily turn out to be a foolhardy occupation, and our Hermione has been known to be a little foolhardy once in a while. It was a very thoughtful thing for Severus to bring her his own bed linens which were still very fresh and smelled so wonderfully of him. Is this the making of a memory? Could be.When he had come to see her the next day he had been struck by the thought that it would have been nice if she were from his time, but as the Time Turner had finally begun to change, he knew she would be leaving soon. I wonder if she will take his grey nightshirt back with her. Surely, upon her return Professor Snape will want to talk to her, and if he sees her when she arrives back in her their time, he may just catch a glimpse of his nightshirt and recognize it. How cool that would be! Or not.Well, enough of my prognosticating. I’m almost never right, but I can’t help myself from imaging what the author might have in store for us readers. Can you tell I love your story?Beth
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Hey, Beth,
You gave me a novel! I love it, but my eyes sure got wide.
Yes, I liked typing that part. Def a bit of attraction going on and some self chastisement.
Yes, his letting her help him did in fact give himself a ‘technique’ that came from his future self – but then remember that his older self did the same thing on purpose in regards to the Burn Paste.
Severus can’t just go ask the house-elves for linen, so he takes his, and switches it for hers cuz his would be changed regularly anyway. But yes, there’s a little tinge in attraction going on again.
Oh, she will bounce back, I’m not done yet!
Thank you so much for reading this and the review. I’m pleased that you like my story. I hope you like what happens next.

I really like your young Snape. I had to smile as he berated himself for showing a physiscal reaction to Hermione, calling himself a pervert. Just how many years older his he? Three? But it made him notice her and realise that she would make a good partner for him.I wonder how the adult Snape will react when she returns to her time.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Hey apsia,
Severus is in his sixth year of school and will turn 17 in Jan. Hermione is in third, as you know, and is 14, or nearly so. So yes, as a teenager, going out with a girl 3-4 years younger would be a big deal, and she’s from his older self’s time! And to 17 year old, Snape was 39 the first time he went back, and 34 the second. To teen-Severus, older-Snape is old – a grown up!
So that in perspective, teenage Severus is reacting to a girl who he sees as a little kid. However, yes, he notices everything!Thank you for reading and the nice review.
Another great chapter. I wish they updated sooner, but I don't want to rush you.At the end Severus says to himself that Hermione would never submit to pure-bloods and so she wouldn't survive the 1st war. Shouldn't that make him realize that the war he's thinking about doesn't turn out the way he wants. Obviously there would be no Muggle-borns at Hogwarts if Voldemort got his way. But if she's from the future and doesn't seem to be effected by blood statis, then he should wake up and have the "rude awakening," not her. Hope he figures this out soon. And what about Avery. You keep hinting at it, I hope he kicks things into action in the next chapter.

,
So far, I have been sending in my next chapter the same day they post. LOL
There are a lot of time-twist comments placed very carefully in the story in each chapter. You found one!
Oh, Avery. LOL
Thank you very much for reading and the review. I hope the next one posts quickly enough for you.
I'm anxious to see what'll happen once she returns to her time...Great chapter!!

Thank you!Young Severus is pretty fun to write, I'm enjoying him too. Thank you for reading and the review.
Wonder how this will affect the future Severus? :)
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
LOL There are clues abound in the last two chapters. Little bit by little bit, inch by inch.Thank you for reading and reviewing.
May I just say that the interlude with Severus and Hermoine in the Prefect's bath was totally awesome! It made me so happy I can't get the smile off my face.Beth

You liked that. My Brit picker did to, so much she drew me a picture of it. wanna see it? http://beaweasley2.deviantart.com/art/from-Proulxes-What-325957235Thank you for reading and for the review.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
oops, gave you the... that's from CoMWT. But its a great picture!
Oh wow, what a promising first chapter you have written here. Time Turners are delicate little instruments indeed, if Hermione's little slip could transport her back for years.I hope Snape will be able to undo Hermione's death through his actions in his past - gods time travel really is complicated.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
I was inpressed with a Time-Turner that I bought on eBay. it has two rings with tiny writting on them around the hourglass. ((8)) like the centrifugalforce ride at the fair, where you swing sumersaults and turn... anyway, that's how I came up with it: caculate out the alignments, align the runes and spin the glass...His going back is to save her. You'll see how he does next two chapters.Oh, thank you for the review.
This is a really good AU setup. Can't wait to see what you have in mind.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. I have the next chapter ready to go.
Wow, what a unique Time-Turner plot. I think this is the shortest time spent in the past, with the worst possible outcome! So sad that they killed her.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
I know! BUt she had to get back. Sorry about that, but that was that timeline.

Oh, how interesting! You totally caught me off guard when she died. I'm very curious to see how this plays out.
Just one question, though: how did they know she was a Mudblood? It's not something one can tell by looking at someone, and they didn't have any idea who she was. For that matter, how could they see so clearly that she was Gryffindor, even from, apparently, behind and in the dark?
Author's Response: Thank you very much. I'm sorry about the death, but something had to make Severus go back in time.
It wasn't so much as they knew - they accused or assumed since they didn't know her. This will be clearer later. And they did know she was a Gryffindor, her robes, but not one they knew or recognized.
It's going to get messy! :)
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
LOL you have no idea!
How fascinating! I usually enjoy Time-Turner/travel stories, even though they make my head hurt... However, I have the feeling that I'm going to enjoy yours even more so than usual! I especially love that it's Severus going back in time to fix things, and I can't wait to see how he explains things to his younger self. Also, what will younger Sev say when he sees his adult self? I keep thinking of the line from the movie Drop Dead Fred-- "Ew, what happened to you?" Hope the next chapter is coming soon!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. Oh, I hope that the next two chapters don't hurt your head too much, but things get a bit twisted around.
