Variety Challenge first runner up. Hermione Granger is given a Time-Turner and instructions to use it. Only, using a Time-Turner can be a little tricky if not used correctly: a mistake made in counting or a slip of fingers can make the user jump irregularly and thus she could accidentally alter her time line. And when such an accident happens, Severus Snape uses Hermione’s Time-Turner in order to fix a horrific wrong. However, it’s his younger self that becomes the one who must ensure that history is not altered.

I love to write. A dreamer, a creator and filled with wonder, imagination and life. Sometimes I get lost in the other worlds I've read and in some I create. It's all good, I’m in good company.

You are most welcome - another is in the wings and will be submitted tomorrow! Thank you for your patience and for the review.
Great chapter! The story's a gradual build, and the details are fantastic. I love Dumbledore's meddling in here.
Looking forward to seeing what happens next!

Thank you very much. I'm flattered by your comments. thank you. Loads more to come. Thank you for the review.
I laughed out loud when the mouse squealed all the way down the hall. LOL. Severus seems to notice quite a bit about her, as she does him. Hmm.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you, debunk. Yes, I don't think the mouse liked flying. And yep, they do seem to be noticing things about each other. Thank you for the pretty stars and the review.
I do love this story, Mystery Author. I like the way the relationship between younger Severus and Hermione is slowly growing, the way they have been noticing each other's mannerisms, their shared love of learning and brewing, the way they enjoy spending time together.Thank you for this great chapter and the lovely details about these two, a Slytherin and a Gryffindor who like each other.Beth
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you, braye. Hermione and Severus are so compatable anyway, it's fun having a friendship develope between them. And it's fun typing their interactions. Thank you for the pretty stars and the review.
Oh, the awkwardness of teen years! How nice to see Severus at a young age. I loved reading about his habits. Things are starting to take off between them. I just want to keep reading and reading. I look forward to the next installment.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
It's fun to visualized Severus as a teen, still himslef, but before the 'dark stuff' he'll do later. Yes, he and she are fitting in with each other like the square peg in the square hole. I hope to have the next one up soon. Thank you for the review.
awww. i adore this fic. i like all the details that are involved. though i think a transfigured mouse for potions seems like a bad idea- i like the care and su ch that went with it bu t elemental wise...
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you,
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
. I'm glad that you like the details. I didin't think about the elemental issue, but I'm sure that if there is any, older Snape would have figured it out and bought a real spoon. But what would be the purpose of turning a teapot into a turtle if you don't get a real turtle to play with? It's magic. Maybe transfiguration changes the elements? Thank you for the thought provoking review.
I love this story. I think, in spite of their little tiff just now, they really are growing to like each other. After all, he spends as much time as possible with her, and that in itself speaks volumns.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
I'm so glad that you do. Severus is spending as much time with her as possible, doing revission, spells work and brewing. (even though I dont' give you each and every moment) I think I've made it clear that it's enough that his house mates notice. hehehe But yep, if she was the same age (not from another time) there would be a huge connection. Thank you for the pretty stars and the review.
I really like watching them interact.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
And I am really having fun typing their interaction. I seems to come so easily. Thank you for the pretty stars and the review, blue.
They do make a good match.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Yep, very much so. Thank you for the pretty stars,

Oh my! Of course I love all of the interactions between our two favorite characters, especially when they're in his office or lab. And the last scene is so bittersweet. Much too brief, but very much in stride to JKR's version. I have to say again how well you weave your story into the original. Marvelous! Now, I have to wonder how you're going to move forward. Hermione on the run and Severus as headmaster doesn't lend itself to personal encounters. But, I'm sure you have some good things up your sleeve. Waiting with baited breath!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. Yep, they have one last encounter before the sh-t hits. I have plently planned. Thank you for reading and for the review. breathe, don't forgt to breathe
Hi, I was just wondering if you were about to continue the story because you said it was fully written and I am desperately waiting for the rest of the story... It's really hard to remember what happened in the last chapters if there is so much time between two chapters... And usually I stop reading when it takes months for a story to continue... But this one is one of the greatest stories I have ever read and I would regret quitting it... Is there going to be a new chapter some day??
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Yes, I have the complete story on my thumbdrive, but haven't had the chapters beta read and corrected to post them. If and when I get one back, yes I'll be posting. If RL of my beta is such and remains busy, I might just have to post as is on ff.net instead. Sorry, but that's the only hang up and I'm not great enough at my SP&G to be a validated author. I have to go through the process. I will post on Potter_Place when I have the next chapter back and place it in queue, though.
Loving it so far. Cant wait for the next installment! So creative!

I've spent the last few evenings reading this, and am loving it! (And damnit, Severus & Hermione are *so* close. You tease.) ;)Thank you for sharing, I look forward to the next chapter. :)
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you, I'm delighted that you are enjoyin gmy story. Yes, they are close, but time will tell when they get together. Thank you for reading and for the review.
All caught up on chapters now (now I'm sad there's no more!). Please update soon, I've been reading this for what feels like months and can't wait to see where the story goes before everything is said and done.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
There are more coming, I promise. As soon as I get the next one back, I'll clean it up and share it. I hope you like what comes next. Thank you for reading and for the review.
When I read the description of Dumbledore's clothes I litterally laughed out loud. The old man was sitting in a corner table wearing a bright yellow suit with lime green ruffles showing at the cuffs and a lemon-patterned cravat, sipping on spiced wine. The wizard’s sense of fashion rivals Elton John’s! Or emulates it, for Merlin’s sake—it’s a bloody toss-up. I imagine it was all Severus could do not to laugh either.
It also tickled me that after all the things he was taking care of for the Headmaster, Severus had to buy his own pint of Mr. Jennings' Snecklifter. A very appropo choice of ale. Go you! You craftey writer, you! Your stories truly delight this reader.
And then there's the matter about Hermione's Amortentia! I wanted to squeal to the top of my voice when Hermione finally put it together that her Amortentia was most assuredly ALL about Professor Severus Snape and most assuredly NOT about Ronald Weasely. Woo Hoo! Yeah, baby!
You put so much time into research for your stories, and it really shows when I read things like the conversation Hermione had with Dennis Creevy about Alchemy and theories of binding elements under stasis and then dividing them in a more purified form, leaving the impurities in the magical filter. That made me sit up and take notice, girlfriend! That's kinda what I do! It's rich details like this that make your stories stand out.
The way Hermione kept running into Severus, I had to wonder if at least some of it isn't on purpose. Neither of them seem to mind, so maybe they're both "accidentally on purpose" making it happen. Beth

Truth is Elton John did wear this outfit! I saw it in a pic and thought it was perfect a DD Muggle outfit. I think Severus was just trying to keep from gagging, personally.
Well, you know, when the teachers met up in the Three Broomsticks they bought their own, lol and I have a friend who is a Headmistress, she didn’t comment so I left it in. She did comment about ordering pints from your table. She also clued me into the ale, I have sources and do research. I like giving you those little details and try to get them right. Yes, I actually read up on Alchemy and looked up articles, so that I’d sound, well so that Dennis would sound/read knowledgeable about the subject. I like taking the time to do it to get it right, and I’m delighted that you, and others, appreciate the effort. I think it makes it a richer tell. Oh wow, are you in Chemistry, then? I got it right? Kewl, thank you. feels relieved
Glad you noticed the Amortentia bit – yep, it’s not Ron. As if….
Well, I’ll leave that to you, whether it's on purpose or not, but judging by Severus' reaction, maybe yes but unlikely. The thing to note – he didn’t mind her bumping into his person and didn’t deduct house points! So that’s telling as well.
Thank you for reading and for the review.

Alchemy is the father of chemistry. While the alchemists didn't understand why certain combinations gave certain predictable results, they did know that something was going on and they called it "affinity." What they called affinities, today we speak of valence electrons and chemical bonds.
I have a book, From Alchemy to Chemistry in Picture and Story by Arthur Greenberg, Ph.D. and published by Wiley & Sons. Dr. Greenberg (University of New Hampshire) is one of my top five favorite Science/Chemistry historians, and if you can find a copy at a nearby library I think you'll be very happy to spend an hour or so just looking at the reproduction color prints from some of the old manuscripts and volumes of the early alcemists.
If you ever get a bee in your bonnet and want me to check something out just let me know. I think you have my email addy.

You certainly got a lot into one chapter. Enjoyed the number of times Hermione literally ran into Severus. Somehow, I doubt his protests are heartfelt. DADA class is surely getting interesting. Nice demonstration. And Hermione's revelation in Potions class! Wondered when she'd pick up on that. Gotta go to work. I'll write more later
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thanks, there was a lot to get in in my head. lol Yes, she's made a habit of running into him unintntionally, and for all his bluster, he doens't take House points from her. Glad you enjoyed DADA and the demonstration. Yep, she's that close to realizing.. and yet too distracted to actually get it. frustrating. Thank you for reading and for the review.

Hey There! What an interesting chapter! I'm going to have to second young Severus' comment at the end of the chapter.. "This is confusing". I hope they get it right at some point. I'm looking forward to more interaction with young Severus and Hermione. Thanks for the update. Much Love ~ Brena
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you, Brena. Yes, I know, this chapter was difficult with the time paradoxes wirtten in and all, (I'm happy to unravel confusion - just ask me anything) You will have your wish - Loads of teenSeverus and Hermione to come.Thank you very much for the review.
Aggh, time paradoxes run rampant! Brain hurts! But in a good way... Love how you're dealing with the tampering, and everything changing so that the older Sev's memories become obsolete as soon as he finishes doing what he just did. I can't wait to see what happens and how the "new" memories will differ from before! I only hope that things don't unravel more because of the meddling, but time will tell (ha!). I await the next chapter impatiently...
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Yes, they do and I'm so please that you picked up on them! Twenty points to your house! There will be repurcussions, but hopefully not as severe. Thank you, Indigo_rose, for the review.
Telling you that I am confused would be an understatement. So I'm going to get some sleep and read this chapter again tomorrow.I love Time-Turner fics and can't wait to see where you take this story!!!Beth
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
I'm sorry, but yes, there is a twisting in this chapter that is confusing. some of it gets sorted out later. (after Hermione returns to her own time) Using the Time Paradox so much, it gets rough. If there is anything you still don't understand, I'll explain.
*applauds*Finally a time-turner fic that plays with the time paradoxon in a proper way.I have to admit I had to read the passage with the diaries twice to comprehend it, but at least for me it totally works out. Brilliant!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you, apisa! Yes, I'm playing with the time paradox frequently in this story and even have things change even at the time the decision is made to go back and do it! hehehe Took me a while to figure out how the diaries would have to work to get what I wanted. I hope that this story isn't too confusing. I really appreciate your frank reviews. It helps me alot. Thank you.
When I first read about Sev thinking about her naked, I was like "Ah, gross. What a loser, perving over a little kid." But at least he knows that's nasty. :)
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
LOL I agree with you, SW69. It's why i had him chastize himself. The funny thing is that there is only a 2 year difference in ages. He's 16, she's 14 in this. It's her third year and his sixth, so he sees her as being so much younger. But it does make things a bit more interesting. Thank you so much for taking the time ot leave a review.
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Reviewer)
Well, you made a point to say she's still only 13. That still makes it funky (even if he's 16, going on 17).
I like young Sev a great deal. :)
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much, Sw69. I'm trying to have a bit of the snarky Snape in him, but still think of him as a teenager before the 'Dark side' got hold of him. Thank you very much for reading this and talking the time to review.
The first chapter is a good one. I like the premise of the story and can't wait to see what's messed up and what's fixed.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much.
I'm afraid this chapter, even after reading it a second time, does nothing but confuses me. I wish it would have been explained a little better (which you know already). At least I'm not alone (looking at other reviewers' confusion as well), so I know I'm not crazy. It just feels like some things are missed or out of sequence. Anyway, I look forward to seeing if this gets cleared up any, for I do like the premise of the story. I wish Hermione would be acting more like herself (going straight to McG instead of messing with the Time-Turner again and going back another week to wait for it to be better for her classes). Did she not think that it would be best to get it checked out first? She was, after all, back in teh right time and could have caught up with her classes in other ways until then. Also, in this story, the Time-Turner is new. WTF are they doing letting a third-year have it? That makes no sense to me. Stupid Dumbledore.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
I'm sorry it got confusing. I have some of the stuff explained, but I'll see what I can do.Hermione knew that the Time-Turner needed to cool, but she didn't really want to miss classes. So I had her step back. Maybe not the brightest thing to do. Also, she didn't tell Dumbledore about her jump back to decades, so Minerva only told DD about the week jump. Well, DD did explain why he got Latimer's toy and not a simple one. This discussion between Latimer, Dumbledore and Hermione is in a later chapter.
Another good chapter. At least the older Professor got a well earned vacation this time!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
LOL Yes, some needed time to himslef, altough he erased it by doing what he did.Thank you very much for the review.
