I am a classically trained singer with three children. I love Star Trek and have watched probably every episode of every series. Favorite HP charaters are Snape and McGonagall. (not as a couple.)
Reviews for Time's Treasure
She seems to be getting through to Lucius, at last!
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
Yes. It's taken some time, but at last Lucius sees some good in Muggle-borns. We can only hope that he will continue to see the light and change his future wicked ways.

I love how you're portraying Hermione's struggle. It does seem that they need Severus to be a spy, and this time things *can* be different. I'm looking forward to reading it!
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
Things can be. We can only hope that they are and that her trip into the past winds up being for the better. Poor Hermione is tearing herself up.

If you can't listen to the song "Burning Bright" by Shinedown, at least look up the lyrics (they're on my LJ). It may well be the Snapey-ist song I've ever heard (the chorus is "the more light shines through me, I pretend to close my eyes; the more the dark consumes me, I pretend I'm burning bright")Snape would not be Snape without the Mark.
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
I went over to youtube and listened to it. Great song. Incredibly Snapey. I especially think that the second verse is very fitting. That Mark is awful for him, but he definitely wouldn't be Snape without it.

Found an interesting article you might like to read; just posted that in my LJ today.
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
I think this describes our beloved Potions master completely. I liked the whole article, but especially liked when Miller said that "A hero does the right thing because it’s the right thing.” I always found it hard to believe that Snape acted solely because of his love/obsession for Lily. That can only take you so far. I don't think it's possible to have that be the main reason for 20 years of heroism on his part.
Response from cmwinters (Reviewer)
Agreed. It's fine that they were friends, it's fine that he loved her. But for it to be his ONLY reason for *existence* since he was nine, that really cheapens his character.

Okay, brilliant. I couldn't work out how you were going to keep him a Death Eater, but also effect the future. Well done. Real page turner, or scroll downer, as it were. =]
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
Scroll downer, lol. Yeah, it just wouldn't work out right if he wasn't a spy, I think. That story would be a bit TOO different, I think.

I don't think Severus would be the way he is in the present without the Death Eater background. It gave him character, courage, and strength... and the morals and honor to do what's right were proven time and time again. But right now, past Severus is thinking he isn't capable.. and there's no way that he could learn how to be the man he is to become without being a death eater. So I agree with you full heartedly.
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
There's just something about Severus Snape that is so enthralling. His courage and determination to go through with the most horrible things to help the cause make him someone hard to ignore, and easy to admire. Without those DE experiences, he definitely wouldn't be the man he becomes. Even if he were to be an honorable Order member, many of those awful things he endured made him the man he is in the future. I really feel he would be lacking. Maybe happier, but nonetheless, lacking.

yes, since he has known hermione i can see him choosing to be a death eater. love this story. thanks so much
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
Thank you so much! He certainly understands what an evil thing Voldie is. Dumbledore surely caught him when he was at his weakest, though. Typical of the conninving old wizard.

Well, Severus's spying saved everyone, so I can see why Albus asked him to do it and even why he accepted. I can also see why it was such a disapointment to Hermione.
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
Who would want to see his suffering all over again? Poor girl. She's the only one at this stage who knows what he suffered.

I see where you are coming from. He can still be the noble, self-sacrificing spy, yet not carry the burden of guilt and shame that he did originally.
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
So true! It'll help him be a better person.

I can see how it is necessary to your story, but I agree with Hermione, Albus needs to be told off.
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
That man needs to be told off by everyone, not just Hermione. But she will have to do. You know Hermione, she lets her opinion be known.

As much as I hate to admit it, Severus needs to be a spy. With out him on the other side, the Order doesn't have much of a chance. I hope the get together though, even with the age adn time difference...
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
He really does need to be the spy. No one else could really do as good a job as he can. His position is unique. Time will tell whether Hermione and he get together. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

best chapter yet, in my opinion. i love how you made it so that the time line is going the same as it did originally, but so under different circumstances.update soon!
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
Thanks so much! The story will continue in that light, with the differences in the timeline highlighted.

Thanks for the update, I really am enjoying the story. I can understand why you're having Severus become a spy... I hope he's right when he says things could be different, since he's starting out as a spy this time. But still!!! He's in for terrible times. Anyway, I think the story is great and am looking forward to reading more.
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
It's heartbreaking to think of the things that could possibly happen to him because of his spydom. But he's willing to risk his life to help the cause, and that in itself is a different motive. That alone will illicit different outcomes.

No, please don't have him join the Death Eaters.
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
So sorry. I know part of it will be horrible for him, but he will be a great asset to the Order, and for Dumbledore. Of course, Dumbledore doesn't really deserve to have a great asset, but, what can you do? He's the puppet master, everyone else is just a puppet.

Yikes! Having your insides burned is not exactly my idea of a good day! Hope she can still have children ^_~

She can! Poppy is an excellent healer and Hermione will make a full recovery.

Uh oh! I think we're going to find out what happened to that tree!
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
Hmm, we may just do that! But that will be in the FUTURE!

Personally, I think that since Severus knows she is not from his time and knows she will have to go back sooner or later he won't waste his life 'pining' for her. The Dark Lord's previous hold on him has been broken.
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
You're right, Voldie's hold had definitely been broken, but Hermione really doesn't want to hurt him. You know how she is, always worrying about everything. And she might not attribute his pining for Lily to Voldemort either.

It's a bit like trying to stop any bad habit. You know it's bad for you, but it feels so good.

Oh, you are so right! But are they really that bad for each other? We'll have to see.

Wow, I really like their relationship, so I hope something can be worked out.
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
Hermione will need to come to her senses. You know how stubborn she can be when she makes her mind up about something. It will take some time.

I just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying this story! Even if there are time paradoxes - that's ok!
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
I'm glad that's okay and I'm glad you're having fun with the story. Time paradoxes are a bit challenging, but they create so many possibilities!

Very interesting. I'm a little wrong-footed by Hermione giving the game away to Severus. I'm wondering how it'll all resolve now. Very nice. I also love the way their relationship is developing! Clever, really.
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
Thanks. I'm glad you are enjoying their relationship. Things will be different for Severus, but some things will stay the same. I really can't go into it too much without spoiling everything. Okay, here it comes . . . you'll see.(I know, the most hated words in review responses!)

I love how we are getting to know Severus as a youngster. I think Hermione's mission has already worked for him. She'll have to work on Lucius a bit more still, although I have seen some head way with him as well.
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
There has been a bit of headway for both of them, but Lucius will be the tougher nut to crack. He needs to actually see that Muggle-born witches aren't what he thinks they are to be convinced. And even then, he many not change his opinion.

but if he changes his personality and becoming a Death Eater, would she have ever needed to go back in time. I am confused, time travel does my head in! :)
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
Ahh, the paradox of time travel. It will make Hermione's head explode too when she returns to her present, but I can't say much more about that.Forgive my quoting Star Trek here, but this is one of my favorite quotes from the show. It's from Capt. Janeway on Voyager.Time travel. Ever since my first day in the job as a Starfleet Captain I swore I'd never let myself get caught in one of these god-forsaken paradoxes. The future is the past, the past is the future. It all gives me a headache."
