Variety Challenge first runner up. Hermione Granger is given a Time-Turner and instructions to use it. Only, using a Time-Turner can be a little tricky if not used correctly: a mistake made in counting or a slip of fingers can make the user jump irregularly and thus she could accidentally alter her time line. And when such an accident happens, Severus Snape uses Hermione’s Time-Turner in order to fix a horrific wrong. However, it’s his younger self that becomes the one who must ensure that history is not altered.

I love to write. A dreamer, a creator and filled with wonder, imagination and life. Sometimes I get lost in the other worlds I've read and in some I create. It's all good, I’m in good company.

“Our imagination flies -- we are its shadow on the earth.”― Vladimir Nabokov
“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions.”― Albert Einstein

So do we see the present Snape next? Love this story!

Oh, yes, he's coming up! Thank you very much, and thank you for the review and stars, too!
One of my all time favorites. I cannot wait for the next chapter.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. The next should post really soon. Thank you for reading and for the review.
Lovely drawing! I'm glad Hermione got all those nice charms, but am especially glad she put Severus's unicorn around her neck, letting him know he is still special to her.I do wonder what Draco is up to.... you are plotting something! Thank you for updating.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
I'm so glad that you like the charms and that was my thinking exactly - it and he is special to her. Draco, has his task this year, remember? Thank you for reading and for the review.
Response from June W (Reviewer)
Yeah, Draco has his task, but he just seems to be plotting something exta special. That emerald charm for Hermione... it's not a tracking device, is it?
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
LOL No. Just a charm, one his mum probably bought for all the girls in his year, and possibly for the Slytherin girls in the years above him as they turned of age. sorry. He is to wrapped up in his own delema/anxiety to be bothered with her.

Quite an angsty chapter, well done! Nice of Severus to have thought it through on a logical perspective to talk her around the Obliviate.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you. Yes it was action packed. Of course, Severus kept his head and thought it through. lol Thank you for the review and the pretty stars.
What a great chapter! I haven't reviewed the last bunch because it is hard to stop reading long enough to do so. Plus, you would have spent precious time reading all of them when you could be working on more story. I like the whole chapter, but in particular the part where she had to pee but had different equipment than she was used to was priceless. The finding and harvesting of the unicorn was really nicely done as well. You've created a relationship between these two that I don't think I've quite encountered an any other stories. It is not really a romance... although I think (hope) it will become one before all is said and done. They are building this strong friendship without any interference from the outside world so we don't have to deal with meddling friends or colleagues, insecurities on either side about being together etc. Because noone knows or cares. Their relationship was free to delevelop of its own accord. And, despite the fact that his adult self told him to hide her, he is going way above and beyond to take care of her. If house rivalties and blodd status weren't so important, Lily would have never chosen Potter. Oh, but that would have wrecked this story :) Just out of curiosity, how long is this story? Lovin' it so keep the chapters coming.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you. Yes, I answer my reviews. LOL I love getting them.Yes, this is what I have been doing, there is a bond of friendship now. And it will have an affect later on. I don't think Lily would have given him the chance or the forgivness that Hermione does. But then, she knows the man he becomes, sort of. There are more chapters. More to tell. Thank you for the lovely review and the pretty stars.
I understand why Sev doesn't want to befriend her (anyway it's already too late for that) but I wish it would be different. I'm sure he'll find lots of ways to spend time with her (even if unconsciously). Any time travel for her planned in the next chapters ?
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Oh, sinchette, give the man a bit of time. I mean it's been years since he's had a friend that liked him simply and unconditionally without expecting anything in return. But the seeds of friendship had already taken place and lay somewhat dormant - for now. It is the Umbridge year after all. Time travel? Oh I have another planned and penned out. But when... you'll see. Thank you for the review and the pretty stars. Happy reading.
It's nice of Dumbledore to have them work together. I also like that she's taking his side against Sirius. Not that he can't defend himself of course, but it's kinda cute of her.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Dumbledore trusts Severus. lol Hermione doesn't like bullies. period. But she will stand up for her friends - even Severus. Thank you very much for the review. Happy reading.
I'm really enjoying this fic. Of course my main preference is SS/HG but I'm discovering a fondness for pre-SS/HG that's coming out now. It's a neat little sub-genre within my ship that's being catered to so pleasantly with this fic. Knowing that she's too young for any sort of romance with him just yet leaves me free to take off the shipper glasses for once and just enjoy the companionship between them. I've always thought that Severus deserved someone to love him and care about him- it really hurts that he never did- and having Hermione fulfil this for him is just so sweet and touching. I can't tell you how much I adore this story- usually the only function of Time Turner stories is to have Hermione at a more 'acceptable' age so she can hook up with Severus. [I prefer Hermione with an older Snape, so sue me] To find an intelligent, well-thought out fic with the TT premise is so rare and utterly exciting. It's interesting reading the details about how the TT works and the way it needs to cool down before she can return, requiring her to remain with Severus, hiding out in that room. It's ever so much cooler than the lame camping trip in the forests, yo. At least she gets access to food and proper showers, lol. Well done, I'm so glad I gave it a try- you've redeemed this whole Time Turner premise for me. Thanks for the fun ride so far!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Wow, I'm quite blown away. Thank you. I'm tickled pink to think I found an original idea with such a common theme. No, with her only 14 and him 17, I couldn't bring myself to type a tween love story. So for now there is just a fondness and friendship. However, I do have seven more chapters outlined and partially written with interaction between Professor Snape and Hermione. I wanted to have it all in before the close of the challenge, but now it will be a work in progress.Thank you very much for the compliment and pretty stars. I hoep you like the rest of the story.
Excellent chapter as always. SS, that poor man. His life sucks. And thank you for not having the romance while HG is a student. I'm not against it, but it is nice to have something different.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
You are quite welcome. I'm delighted that you enjoyed the chapter. I thoguht that this time, I'd knot to the teacher/student sex, and keep it angsty until she was out of school. Thank you for reading and for the review.
Poor Snape. Maybe after all this war crap is over with and won, he can finally be happy with Hermione. I'm hoping for him! More soon please!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
That would be grand, wouldn't it? More is coming, and I have a few chapters with my beta. Hopefully they will be all cleaned up and presentable soon. Thank you for reading and for the review.
Great update! Keep 'em coming.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you. Okay.
The prior chapter to this gripped my attention again but the lack of a bracing pace and indeterminate focus lost me in this chapter. Still I applaud your tenacity just that as a writer I think there was this comment severus said to hermione. .. about how to write her essays. I am all for 60 chapter ffs but each chapter has to be earned. ;)))
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Oh, sorry. Hopefully I don't disapoint in the ones to follow.
This is the second time I skipped a few chapters because the pace was too slow. Usually I like it and want to linger over a chapter but since my last review in this ff I somehow think most chapters have been cumbersome and you can extract anything which does not help into a new ff. Just my well-read albeit amateur opinion. This story can be hard to beta being overly wordy!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
I er, am just a write by evening, sort of gal. In RL I help people get well. But alas, I'm sorry that I fell flat in your eyes. sorry.
You surely know what to include that pleases us readers! :))
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Sometimes. You are most welcome.
Haha - loved the way you characterised severus in the interchange. =)))
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
I'm so glad that you liked this one. whew. Thank you for sticking with me and for your honest comments. Hugs and happy reading.
Wow, I didn't expect the waiting to be THAT hard. I really did refresh the site every day to check if there is a new chapter and finally there is an update :))) Took me some time to read it cause I didn't find much time for it the last days, so I started reading in EVERY free second until my dad told me to put it away at least for breakfast, lunch and dinner :D Now that I've finally finished, the torture of waiting is back. I'm looking forward to the next chapter! (and...I love the way Severus first wants to admonish Hermione but then can't contain himself from asking if she's fine. This is so like him) Thank you for this wonderful chapter :)
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Sorry. I have the next one in queue, but give yourself a month before checking, it's been taking a while for the letters. I hope your dad wasn't upset with you?I'm delighted that you like how I'm doing Severus, Thank you for reading and for the review.
Thank you for the fantastic update! I loved the subtlety of Hermione and Severus' interactions / relationship! Looking forward to seeing the start of the school year!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
You're very welcome. Working on the 5th year. Hope to have it ready soon.
She's too young for romantic involvement, but she can still show how much she cares for him, as she did upon his return. How sweet. How can he resist caring in return when she is so adorable and so loving? Like a big brother with the little sister who idolizes him. This was a wonderful (and suspenseful) chapter.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Yes, at 14 she's a bit young in my mind, so I have been writing her as the 'looks up to, respectes, frequently amazed by' girl, and for his part, Severus is mostly the 'big brother, provider, comapnion,' although I'm sure his feelings are a bit more turmiol than hers. He really likes her. I'm glad that you enjoyed this chapter. Thank you for the review and the pretty stars.
Ooooh I love the snow ball fight! It was so cute! Although, it was a little disturbing to think of what it would look like to an outsider... Severus is Flirting with Mulicber? I also really loved how upset Hermione was and how she showed him how much she cared about him when he finally got back. I was so worried! Thank you so much for the update! Much Love ~ Brena
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
You are quite welcome. Thankfully, there wasn't anyone else around. If you were worried, I did a good job! And yes, Hermione likes him, she shows her feelings easily, althouh that really bowled him over. Thankyou for the review and the pretty stars.
It would be horrible to have to harvest the Unicorn. I wonder if the unicorns had seen Severus before and had already decided he wasn't evil. That should make anyone trust Severus. Too bad she can't tell the guys that the unicorns trust Severus. It would help her explain it as one of the reasons she sticks up for him. She is going to remember all of this, right? It's going to be very sad for Severus when she goes. The adult Severus would not have humored her or taken such risks just to let her go out and get fresh air, I don't think. It's another way we see him change as he becomes an adult. He is brave and heroic; he's a man of honor, but he doesn't take unnecessary risks. I guess most of us take fewer risks as we get older.TeenSeverus is very kind to Hermione, and though he's a Slytherin he isn't scheming to see what he can get out of this situation for himself as one would expect based on the stereotype of Slytherins we read in cannon. He does enjoy his time with Hermione and that is a perk, but it's because he's a good guy, not because he's taking advantage of the situation. If he weren't such a good person she would be a bother and he wouldn't spend so much time with her. He'd keep her safe, keep her hidden, but wouldn't be so concerned about her emotional well being. I'm really going to miss teenSeverus when Hermione goes back to her own timeline. I bet she will too. I'm very glad he knows how to cast obliviate. I don't imagine it is taught in the normal course work at school, since people aren't supposed to use it. I wonder how hard it will be for Hermione to keep what she knows about what jerks Harry's dad and Sirius were from Harry. Hermione is way better at keeping secrets than I've ever been, but I don't know how much temptation she has to fight to keep them.Does Severus know Lupin's secret yet? Have they played the horrible prank on Severus yet? He didn't think to ask Hermione what secret of Lupin's she was keeping, but I guess that would fall under "things about the future she isn't allowed to divulge", however I would think he would wonder to himself what Hermione knows about adult Lupin that's a secret and what her relationship to him is in her timeline. I wonder if he noticed that she had said it. This episode apparently is taking place after Hermione and Harry help Sirius and Buckbeak to escape, otherwise she wouldn't know about Lupin yet. Speaking of stereotypes, Potter and Black sure know a lot of mean spells for supposed honorable Gryffindors. Is it because Black was raised in a dark wizard's family?Another great chapter!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
To Severus, the harvesting was a huge opportunity that would unlikely ever happen again, and it was a huge honor that he was granted, the parents allowing him to do so, willingly, making the parts viable. Unicorn parts are very very very rare. To Hermione, it was so sad, seeing a dead foal, and no, she can’t tell anyone about it because she’s not supposed to. Why would she tell the boys about harvesting a unicorn with teen Severus, when they have no idea she has these mishaps.
That’s the difference from a teenager and a grown up professor. Besides, she was a friend and teenSeverus enjoyed her company.
TeenSeverus wasn’t looking for something from her, he had a task – keep her hidden and away from everyone else. She’s not to be seen. She’s in his private-ish room, and he has to be nice/caring/give her books or she might wander about the castle and inadvertently cause problems. And or she could annoy him when she had nothing to do. So, keep her occupied with food and books, occasionally let her shower, and she will be compliant to his demands (nicely spoken demands – but demands all the same). Yes, he grew to like her, and took her outside with him, but it was a huge risk. Teenagers don’t always do the most prudent things.
I’m sure he learned loads from books. Hermione did, and I’m pretty sure other students find ‘neat spells’ and try them out, possibly with good/bad/horrible/reasonable results. That’s why there is an exceptionally talented onsite Healer named, Madam Pomfrey, to sort out the accidental magical mistakes.
Why would Hermione want to tell Harry negative things about his dad and Sirius – well at his point Professor Lupin and Harry’s dad? She’d find it easy to keep that to herself if only not to hurt a friend!
Again, Lupin hasn’t come up in conversation between Hermione and teenSeverus. I’m not sure when the horrible prank is pulled, but it is during this year. However, again, Severus, if it happened, wouldn’t mention it and embarrass himself by telling her his worst memory. Why would he. Severus had been suspicious of Lupin’s ‘illness’ for years, I’m sure someone as bright as Severus would have figured it out, but again, why tell her about it – he’s keeping her safe.
There have been slips, Hermione has made slips of the tongue about things, and he’s not ‘jumped on them’ he’s taken it in and pondered on it, like ‘hummmm I did that?’ so yes, he knows that she knows him in his future, only not how far ahead in his future. His ‘older’ self came and mentioned that he had to hide her – so obviously he will know her later in life. But these little slip of the tongue are inconsequential little tidbits that haven’t altered anything important – like who won the war – that Lily died – those would be a disastrous confession.
No, doll, it’s before. The saving of Lupin and Buckbeak happen after – at the end of the book – toward the end of the year.
No, James and Sirius know mean spells because they are bullies. They do well in lessons, read books, and find little nasty prank spells to use on unsuspecting classmates. Because they are bullies. Severus knows many of them because either he read them and learned them to protect himself, or learned it from James/Sirius and used them back at them to protect himself, or made some up to protect himself…or learned some from his house mates to protect himself.
Houses aside, Severus is smart/intelligent, cunning/sly, and he does well on his schoolwork. Just because you are sorted into Slytherin doesn’t make you a bigoted prig, prejudiced Muggle-hater or evil maniac who likes torturing innocents…
I’m glad you enjoyed the chapter. More is coming. Thank you for reading and for your review.
I like the interactions with Snape.

Thank you.
OHH I've been waiting a new chapter quite a long time....but i can say that it was worth the waiting....please keep writting ...greeting from Colombia!!+=4 ever!!!P.S: same goes for the self-writing parchment *wink*
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. from Ca. I'm having to read OoTP to make sure I keep what in canon I need to keep intact and still have the parts/interactions I want. Oh and S-W P is with my beta for final clean up!
Lupin's description of how the Dark Arts get a grip on you is very much like many vices in today's society. It's nice to see Severus supportive of Hermione, despite his not wanting to be friends. I think it helps her have trust in him, and we all know she'll need it in the future.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
That was exactly what I was going for - addiction. Yep, he's still watching over her. lol Yes, the trust will be vitally important, even after the episode in the Shrieking Shack. Thank you for the review.
I was so happy to see that you'd updated!!! And I do declare, it is no wonder Hermione and Professor Snape have this special relationship—not quite friends, but more than just student/teacher. They are so very much alike, almost two peas from the same pod. There is a mutual respect that shines through at the most unexpected times like when he came to her in the library to reassure her that Harry would not be expelled:
“Dumbledore has it in hand,” he said, smirking at her. “Do you really think that the Headmaster of Hogwarts isn’t aware of the bylaws concerning underage magic? He wrote most of them himself. Kingsley Shacklebolt also has influence in the Ministry and there are others. Why won’t you trust us to handle the situation?”
“Because I hate feeling useless,” she admitted.
He reached out and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “I know. But for now there isn’t anything that you can do. So, please trust us to handle it.”
She nodded, closing the book on her hand, and he laughed softly. “But for now enjoy reading up on Dark creatures,” he said with a smirk as he rose.
And thank you for letting Sirius fall face first in a mess of his own making. That over-grown teenager had that one coming, and the cherry on top was that he gave himself a case of boils. I chortled with glee.
The last sentence in this chapter made me shiver because it made me think what must be awaiting Hermione, Harry and Ron with Umbridge teaching DADA: “Well let’s hope the new professor has handouts or something, because if we all go by this book—we’re dead ducks.”
Let me end this chapter review by saying that I am always and without fail mesmerized by your writing and the depth you give your characters. You imbue them with emotions, wants, needs, disappointments, and triumphs large and small. I know these people. They are real. They have the same fears, hopes, and dreams that I do. They want a better life. I even see them sometimes when I look in the mirror. I can think of no greater praise to lay at the feet of an author than to say a few misplaced commas do not spoil a great story, but passion for the tale and an unfailing intellect to tell the story in a way that grips the reader does make a story great... and this story has an abundance of passion and intellect.
I hope you will be inspired to continue writing. My world would be a duller place without your inspiration and your writing. Thank you to you and to your team of betas for bringing this story to life for your loyal readers. You rock, bea. You ROCK!
Beth

I’m delighted that you enjoy this story so much. Yep – I updated! Yes, there is a relationship there, more than merely Professor/student.
And Sirius – well, he had it coming, after all. lol
I am inspired to write and have been. I hope you enjoy what Ihave cooked up. Thank you very much for the review and inspiration.
I am so glad to see that this story has been updated. I've been following it since it was first posted and I just love it!Really enjoyed Hermione sticking up for Severus every chance she got, though she should be careful or people will start putting 2 and 2 together and thinking something is up. I can hardly wait for what happens next. thanks for continuing with this story.
