Variety Challenge first runner up. Hermione Granger is given a Time-Turner and instructions to use it. Only, using a Time-Turner can be a little tricky if not used correctly: a mistake made in counting or a slip of fingers can make the user jump irregularly and thus she could accidentally alter her time line. And when such an accident happens, Severus Snape uses Hermione’s Time-Turner in order to fix a horrific wrong. However, it’s his younger self that becomes the one who must ensure that history is not altered.

I love to write. A dreamer, a creator and filled with wonder, imagination and life. Sometimes I get lost in the other worlds I've read and in some I create. It's all good, I’m in good company.

“Our imagination flies -- we are its shadow on the earth.”― Vladimir Nabokov

I think this is going to be a great story! I can't wait to read more!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. SW69 has the next chapter. Hopefully it'll be up soon.
Hello, have read your story over the last few days from chapters 1 through 54 and it's awesome, unbelievable your imagination. The boy Severus has done it to me right ;-) but also the idea that he trains his slitherins as combat companions in Oklumentik I think great.
You have not written anything for a while now, did you completely abort the story or did you still have the skeleton on your PC and just not structured? I would be very happy if you somewhere still a final version synonymous if not read beta or something. Maybe I'll hear from you. Greetings Barbara
Author's Response: I'm delighted that you like ny story. Yes, I finished this story; all 60 chapters are on ff.net or Ashwinder under my penname. It was on Granger Enchaanted, but I think that site is defunked. I stopped posting here due to the stringent rules and rejections, and have posted where I can enjoy writing without the aggrivation. Thank you ror reading and for the review.
I liked the practise sessions with Severus. Ron is a bit all over the map, isn't he? I guess that's his youth/immaturity manifesting. I'm a little surprised that Hermione was so upset by his behaviour, though. LOL@ Severus realising that Millie is Blooming -- 'the repugnant girl.' Poor thing -- she can't help her unfortunate looks. :)
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
I'm glad that you did. Severus' comment might not be about her looks, it could be personality and looks combined... we don't really know much about her other than she's not nice. Thank you for reading and for the review.

Nice to see Severus struggling to come up with reasons to keep Hermione's training going; he's simply refusing to admit to himself that he likes her and wants to spend time with her.And poor Hermione, just when it seems she's ready to make a go with Ron, Lavender uses her (magical) charm to snare his attention; that definitely stings. Ah well, it just means she won't have any messy entanglements, leaving her free to consider other, more mature, options
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Yep, he does try. denial works - for a while. Well, yes, but Ron wasn't really into her in the first place, so this Lavender bit is really a sting. She'll be fine, and eventually see that he isn't for her. Thanky you for reading and for the review.

I didn't realize until now that you are the author of at least three of my favorite fanfics, "The Self-Writing Parchment" and "The Consequences of Meddling with Time" among them. Just wanted to let you know that I'm now one of your very own fangirls!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
LOL yes, those are mine. In fact, Parchment jsut updated. I'm working on all three in ramdom and trying to get another set of chatpers out. Thank you very much for the support and the compliments. It's always nice to have a friend. Thank you for the review.
Awesome story! I am really enjoying the development of the rapport between Snape and Hermione in this time line. I have been following your story from the beginning and I realized that I have not been giving much love lately. I have been reading from my smart phone and, for awhile, it was not letting me post comments. So, sorry about that! You have been doing such a great job with this tale and I am so glad that you are keeping up with it. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with me.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
I'm sorry it's taken me so long to answer this, but I just saw it. One love once in a while means as much, especially if you are enjoying my story. I'm delighted that you are enjoying this one. Thank you for reading and for the review.
Loved Severus' whispered comment to Hermione in class regarding her upcoming OWL in potion. He's gone from ignoring her in class, to 'awarding' her detentions, to calling her by her given name (even if only in private,) to whispering encouragement to her during class. Then again, he's doing a remarkable job maintaining his cover considering he's had to wait 17 years to resume this friendship. Quite commendable. Now, with that said, as much as I enjoyed reading this chapter, I suffered disappointment when I realized we haven't gotten to the Dept of Mysteries yet. I was so sure we'd be reading about that in this chapter. Shows what I know. I know this chapter was needed and necessary but I was so ready to read your version of events at MoM. I'm also thinking about how you'll write Hermione's 6th year. She'll be turning 17 soon after the term starts which will make her 'of age' in the wizarding world. And with the comments you've written to other reviewers, it appears she may be receiving attentions from the boys at school. Regardless of their age? Hmmm? Just thinking out loud.Again, nice chapter. Very much looking forward to more, as always. Hope our wait is not too long. Hope you have a joyous Christmas season and New Year if I don't type at you before then.
Response from Sharn (Reviewer)
Hi, just realized I didn't say much to you about this chapter. So, here goes - I know you have the anti-venom potion as part of Severus' class for a particular reason. And probably not the reason we may be thinking. Wonder what you have planned? Also, Hermione has voiced her theory to Ron regarding the apparent connection between Voldy and Harry. I don't recall that she's mentioned this in any of her conversations with Severus. Surely, she'll be bringing this up to him if she hasn't already.Loved how you wrote the scene in Umbridge's office when Severus is trying to relay information to Hermione. Even if Umbridge wasn't so wrapped up in her anger, I don't think she would have suspected Severus of trying to tell Hermione anything with eye contact and eye movement. Only friends who know each other well would be able to communicate in such a manner. Umbridge would never realize that there is a well-formed relationship between the Potion's Master and a fifth year student. Nicely done.Okay, think that's all I have to say right now. Another wonderful chapter. Keep 'em coming, Bea.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Wow, a double review. lol I’m so glad that you liked Severus’ comments and his subtleness toward her. Yes, he has. Seventeen years is a long time and he does feel the gap between them more than she does. Oh, Dep of M is coming up quickly. Next chapter you find out what happened. I was going to make it part of this chapter, but then it got way to long. So sorry, a bit of a wait on that part I’m afraid.
Sixth year starts out with a few surprises and some things not in canon. Some angst and Hermione comes of age, well, wizarding age. lol
Yes, I did bring back into play the potion to counteract Nagini’s venom. (I keep wondering what JKR had in mind killing a Potions master like Severus off with a snake bite – geesh)
Yep, in this version, Hermione and Ron turn to their friends. Strength in numbers, together strong – divided you fall, and both the Dark Lord and Dumbledore play things close to the vest – the Dark Lord likes to keep people separated – makes them easier to manipulate. The DA is strongest when together – so here they are. Together.
Yes, some people just don’t get subtle. lol But he did try to convey his message to Hermione. You’re right, only close friends can read each other’s signals but then again, Severus and Hermione – he shoved her away for so long, giving only little bits here and there and this time, well, she didn’t get it, obviously since they all flew off to the MoM.
Thank you for reading and for the review. Hugs and happy holidays to you and yours.
Hello, BeaweasleyI've just found this beautiful story and I read it for the last two days. I'm a little bit sad that there are no more chapters to read for now. I hope you'll update soon, because I like your characterization of Severus and Hermione and the slowly developing storyline very much. Thank you for writing!

,Oh, there are definately more chapters comeing! I'm so glad that you enjoyed my story thus far. There will be a few chapters of Professor Snape and Hermione, for a bit, but young Severus will be back later. I have three other WIP's that have need of updates, and I will then post on this one. Thank you for the kind note, it warms the shackles of my heart,beaweasley2
Does Hermione know about the two-way mirror that Sirius gave to Harry? That could eliminate a lot of problems. Very exciting to see everyone flying off to London. Thanks for updating!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Yes, she does, but Harry has his and she (and he) doesn't know where the mate to the pair is. So that is another problem. Yep, off flying to London! Thank you for reading and for the review.
It must be so confusing to the both of them to have tender feelings for the other, especially Snape. He probably feels like a pervert wanting to be around a 14 year old girl.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
You know, I think you are right. lol Thank you so much for the review and the pretty starts.
The fireworks sound beautiful! I'm glad Hermione came up with that game for the kids, and tht the Slytherins toasted her. Well, except for the Inquisitorial Squad folks. Thanks for the new chapter!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
I love fireworks! And who doesn't like capture the scarf? I'm glad that you enjoyed it. Thank you for reading and for the review.
Loved the use of Capture the Flag! I loved that Severus gave her House points for the idea. Your depiction of an enraged Snape was quite apt, as was the depiction of a sullen Harry. Sigh.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Yeah, I mean who doesn't like capture the scarf, especially when you can stun each other! Of course he gave her points, I'm glad that you liked that. and I'm glad that you liked my enraged Seveurs and a sullen Harry. Thankyou for reading and for the review.
If they were a bit older, I'd say they look like a couple in honeymoon separating for the first time since thier marriage. They're so cute. And there is the almost first kiss. I truly wonder how she will interact with Severus Senior in her own time, as she's still very young. Because she won't meet with junior ever again, right?
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
well, as teens its only the sad goodbye of friends, new friends at that. Yep, Severus almost got kissed. Oh, the return is coming up. Thank you for the review and the stars.
My heart was breaking for both of them. I could clearly see Severus' tendency to snap at people and make snarky remarks when he was upset or worried about someone, and Hermione's hurt feelings when thought she done something to make someone mad. Severus' thoughts of what it would be like if he could adopt her and take her home with him for the summer were bittersweet. The picture of him "cowering in a corner, protectively shielding Hermione’s body from his father’s wrath" was almost too much.Saying goodbye, even if it's only for a short time, was so hard, and when Severus hugged her and she told him "I luff you" I wanted to remove the Time Turner from around her neck myself.Their final moments were very special, and I doubt that either of them will forget it, him bending to kiss her on her cheek and she turning her face to kiss the corner of his mouth. Yes, I think they will both be thinking about that for a very long time.Thank you for such a lovely and loving chapter, Bea. Beth
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Beth, that is exactly what he's doing. He's losing her and so his tendancy is to protect himself by pushing her away. Some guys do this. He's upset, so he snaps at her. All he neded was to see how it hurt her, and he softened. She on the other hand will see this as his 'trait' and it will help her later on to deal with him. oops. spoiler. sorry.Yes, he was thinking about keeping her, adopting her as a sort of kid sister. But think about his homelife. Tobais is not a nice guy = he's abusive. There is the problem of where to put her, and his father abusing her. (walking into her room at night?) Sorry, but yes, it was to paint a bad pic that he knew couldn't happen.Yes, saying good-bye is always hard even if it's for a year. For him it will be 115 years before he sees her again - he knows he won't see her until he's an adult. For her it's seconds - he knows it's going to be a long time. My aunt lives in Ill. We live in Ca. When she comes to visit, Mum is so happy, but when she has to go home Mum cries for days after because she misses her sister so.
Severus is feeling that loss.
Her saying "I love you," (muffled into 'luff' because she's saying into his chest), I wanted to have a way for her to stay as well. Then the kiss. Yes, HE will be thinking about that for a long time... she will not have time to dwel on it - her trip lsts only seconds. His is 17 years.I'm glad that you liked this one and were able to understand the pain, loss, and confusion of his and her feelings. Thank you for the review, Beth. As always, a joy to read what you think.
I thought you wrote Severus spot on for his encounter with Narcissa and the Dark Lord.Good to see the Slytherin Contigent out and about.Hermione was having too much fun. And her and Dudley.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
I'm so glad that you liked this one. Of course the Slytherins are banding together. Oh yes, Hermione was, but it was for a good cause. Thank you for reading and for the review.
Loved the section with Molly. He picked the right person to go to. Especially since he was helping out with the whole ear accident.Ron. <shakes head> Ron Ron Ron. Somebody needs to do a little growing up. But yes, I know, it will take a while.Severus' plan at Grimmauld Place--brilliant!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
I'm glad you liked the bit with Molly. Sev is a good guy, dark and ansty, but good at heart. Ron, well, he doesn't grow up in the book until later, does he? Oh you like his paln, good. lol Thank you for reading and for the review.
I liked this chapter. No it wasn't one of those heart-racing, nail-biting ones but you conveyed a lot of information and also other bit players got to make appearances. I actually prefer stories that have a larger background cast and side stories. I think it adds interest and immersion into the story world if that makes any sense.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Oh I have side stories and side plots. lol Nope, but sometime you need the breather - even JKR did 300 pages of camping. Thank you for reading and for the review.
Angsty crunchy goodness. Only problem is that I am out of chapters to read. Not that I can complain. Your chapter lengths are as long as others entire stories. What can I say but I REALLY enjoy this story. Ah well, maybe now I can get some house work done. Oh wait, you have other stories....
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
I know, it's fully written I"m just waiting to get my chapters back There are others, happy reading which ever you chose.Thank you for readign and for the review.
Oh, bea, thank you for a fabulous chapter!!! I could not wipe the smile off my face as I read this entire chapter.
OMG! That scene in the prefect's bath was wonderfully delicious. I loved Severus' reaction when he realized that it was Hermione swimming laps in the pool. God A'mighty! That man has got it bad for her, and he has been that way since they became friends while he was keeping her safe while she got her time-travels straightened out.
I'm glad she thanked him for his gift of the lovely unicorn—to remind them both of that very special day they had spent together and seen the lovely beasts in the field. And I'm glad he didn't act like he hadn't sent it.
It cracked me up when he "found" a reason to be thankful for his length of his frockcoat and his robes. And even that wasn't enough for him... he had to cross his arms and wrap himself in is robes for extra "protection." And then he decided to wait outside for her to dress so he could escort her back to her dorm.Yep, he's got it bad, and she knows it: She swam easily to the edge and heaved herself out of the water, rising before him like a water nymph. He stared at her dumbstruck as she stood and walked casually toward him.
Great chapter!!!Beth

You are most welcome, I'm delighted that you enjoyed it. Did you see the picture that Proulxes drew for me on the pool scene? it's perfct! I put it on my Deviant Art account so people could see it. Yes, he does have it bad for her but he's fighting it. and yep, he has ever since their time together as teens. Yep, he did feel the need to wrap himself up from her. lol Of course she thakned him for the charm, and yes, it was good that he acknowledged it. In a way it's a reminder to them both of what they had as well as that day together. As for if she knows it yet or not, Hermoine hasn't done anything untoward at all, she simple got out of the pool as requested, er demanded and was headed to where the towels were... of course they were right behind him. lol Thank you for reading and for the review. Happy reading Beth.

Yes, I did see Proulxes' art, and I intended to remark on it in my review. She did a wonderful job and nailed both of them. Snape made me laugh. And I did notice that the towels were right behind him. LOL!!! It was a brilliant idea for the story and brilliant artwork to illustrate it.

Very clever of Hermione to get the younger students' minds off of their anxieties and onto a game. Loved that even Slytherins acknowledged her positive rolein the events of the day. Loved that Severus awarded points to her before he realized what he was doing. Too bad she doesn't know she received points from him - that knowledge might have soothed her hurt feelings while she's being ignored. Even though Harry's viewing of Severus' past was upsetting, it's too bad he takes his anger out on Hermione. But, then again, knowing our beloved Potions Master as we do, how else would we expect him to react.Enjoyed reading about the fireworks and especially the teachers' reactions to them. That was fun. While I enjoyed reading this chapter, I was disappointed that there was so little interaction between HG and SS. I wonder if this sets the stage for the results of the battle in the Dept of Mysteries and Hermione's injuries. How will Severus react and cope with that? Is this what you'll concentrate on in the next chapter? Soon? Pretty please? Yes, I'm impatient, can you tell?!?Thanks for the new chapter. My letter to Santa will ask for the next chapter to flow forth from your pen (quill or computer, whichever you use) effortlessly and quickly.Happy Thanksgiving.

I’m glad that you enjoyed the game of capture the scarf. I mean, who doesn’t love playing that game?
The Slytherins? I’m not so sure it was intentional to give Hermione the credit as much as it was to make sure Severus didn’t blame any of them. lol
Nope, she didn’t find out. And your right, it would have helped. Alas…
I never said exactly what Harry saw, but yes, Severus is very angry about it. Too bad Hermione didn’t give him time to cool off before going down to see him, but then she doesn’t know that side of his personality yet, does she?
I’m delighted that you enjoyed the fireworks. That was fun to type.
For now, there isn’t a lot of interaction, because she’s so focused on things going on in lessons, OWL revision and Harry’s dreams – and we all know what’s coming up – the MoM adventure, er, break in, well, it’s more a rescue. No, that’s not right, fiasco – charge! lol
Next chapter is in queue. I have quite a few written and it covers some summer, well, let’s just say, you can’t always trust a handsome face.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours as well. Thank you for reading and for the review. I love all your comments.
Response from Sharn (Reviewer)
I re-read this chapter today and thought about the two very different reactions Severus had in this chapter. The first reaction was to Hermione's care of the younger students during the fireworks - pride in her ability to promote a calm atmosphere by playing a game that excluded house affilliation. He contemplates this while gazing at the night sky, looking towards the Gryffindor tower and celebrating with a flask of Firewhisky (loved that part), alone. The second reaction was when Hermione confronts Severus after the doomed occlumency lesson. He forces her to leave, admonishes her for using his given name and then remains in his office in the dark, alone. His celebrations and his 'defeats' occur when he's alone - as they have always done in the past. When looking at him from that perspective, it seems he has never developed the ability to go through anything in his life with any type of support system. He's not have a close friend or confidant to 'share' anything in his life with. I realize this is not a new concept or anything, but for some reason after reading this chapter again today, I was struck with this thought. I hope you, in your writings, will allow Severus to develop this 'missing' part of his personality and that Hermione will have the maturity to help him with that developement. Okay, enough with the psychoanalysis. Not sure where that came from, just wanted to tell you about it. Hope you had a great day.
That was a brilliant re-telling of the fireworks, and Severus, sigh, he's never going to grow up, I fear. Poor Hermione.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. He has his immature moments. lol Thank you very much for reading and for the review.
This is one of the best written fanfics I've ever had the pleasure of reading. You do a magnificent job of blending canon and fic. The story feels believable, the characters very real. Great work. I look forward to more!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. That is so kind of you to say. There is more, I promise, it will be in queue soon. Thank you very much for the review.
Thank you for updating! I absolutely loved the different reactions to the fireworks, especially all the teacher's reactions after hours. I hope we may read more soon, please!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
You're welcome for the update. I'm glad that you enjoye the other reactions. Thank you for reading and for the review. Next chapter will be in queue soon, I promise.
This was heartbreaking. Nice use of Keats.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Yes, a little. I'm glad you liked the use of Keats. Thank you for reading and for the review.
I've only read the first paragraph of this chapter but wanted to comment on something before I forgot about it (swiss cheese brain). Obviously JKR wanted Dumbles dead. Plot and all. But I often wondered, do you think amputating the arm well above the cursed area while some like Severus contained the curse to keep it from 'jumping' would work? I mean canon says Severus 'contained' the curse to that specific area so you'd think you could try amputation. That has to be better than just letting it take over your body and killing you. I'd say going 7 inches above the cursed area would be good since that is supposed to be a magical number. So, other than because his death makes a good plot device, what is your opinion? With how magic works in Harry Potter do you think it's a viable option?
Response from Phyllidia (Reviewer)
Now that I've finished the chapter...I see Severus is expanding who he consults in regards to the potion for Dumbledore. I wonder if the 'brains' might get to come out and play with him soon as well. I mean one alchemy and potions seem to be their forte.I was good seeing Severus open up some about his past. Hermione should feel super special.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Obviously ampuation is an option in the magical world, Mad Eye lost a leg from a curse or amputation, so I don't know why it wasn't sonsidred with Dumbledore. I was only showing the events as they occured. I'd have to send a letter to Severus or MadamPomfrey to ask.Severus is trying anything that might lead to a cure for the old man. Its hard for him to be so open about his past, so yes, she realizes it. Thank you for reading and for the review.
