And the moral of this story is... never screw with Granger or Snape.  Ever.  Great revenge--quite creative!

Oh, this chapter has so much in it and so much information! I am stunned that Hermione's vow extends to Harry and then to Ron. Makes getting the pric-k, er, Lucius, doesn't it. I love that he's having these dreams - serves him right. I hope Harry gets to Draco in time. and sooo much more....

Oh Man! What a chapter! So much going on! I am glad that Hermione is upset about Ron because I think she would be. The mixed feelings are very realistic.And Lucius dream! It reminds me of when Lucius was messing with Hermione's dreams... hmmm... I wonder! ;-)

Wow, what an interesting story!
So the Malfoys (except for Draco) are back as bad.
While reading the first chapters, I felt like something wasn't right and I kept telling myself that probably it was just the mystery atmosphere, but, indeed, there was something wrong!
Aww, I'm a bit sad: I hoped that Lucius and Narcissa didn't end as perfect bastards... :(

Shame on me for taking so long to read this! But it was a great chapter, definitely. It answered a lot of questions, though I'm still anxious to see the puzzle completely put together!

As always the highest of quality shows in your writing.  I really like the history you have given Severus.  Canon provides just a sketch or even a brief glimpse and you have taken that and really given it life.  Nice touch.  I look forward to the planning and execution of their revenge on Lucius.  Thanks for posting, JoAnne

Good foe Hermione, standing up for herself. At least she knows Severus won't force her to stay with him, and is willing to talk to her. I wonder if the malfoys will ever get their come-uppance?

You are such a tease! Severus finally goes to have the conversation in which he answers all of Hermione's questions and you switch gears to focus on Harry, Ron, and Ginny. Ah well, I suppose the promise of lots of Severus and Hermione in the next chapter will have to sustain me.But yeah, I didn't know it was you writing this, but I had a feeling it was one of the admins. I'm just not familiar enough with all your writing styles to know the difference! Anyway, can't wait for more!

I just found this one and started it today (Saturday, 4/26) and finished all 11 chapters (so far) in one reading! First, THANK you for a very relaxing and wonderful way to spend my time recovering from my recent surgery and keeping away the temptation I always face to try to do too much, too soon!  Secondly, as per your usual standard, this is a fabulous story!  I love the complexities of your plot, and the complete unpredictability you've set up with all the "smoke and mirrors".  I had started the story severely doubting this "new, improved Lucius Malfoy", thinking he's just actually too good to be true, but after a few chapters had begun to doubt my own good sense (and so I can't fault Hermione too terribly for doing the same).  I still thought him a heel, however, for cheating on his wife, and wondered what that confrontation with his son was all about.  So, when he revealed his true colors to Hermione, I was as unprepared and shocked as she.  I see now that the book is a fake (thank goodness), but wonder about the other hints you've dropped about it---that it does have some sort of power, though not the one Lucius told her.  So, then...everything she read there, in the book, was lies planted by Lucius, and not an irresitible prophecy of what is to come?  That's good news, if so,--particularly in regard to Severus' arising to be some sort of new Dark Lord.  Yet, the dreams were 'not' under Lucius' control (or were they, when he had the stone in his possession?)--and so do 'they' portend of unforeseen evil yet to come of stealing Snape's life away from the Otherworld?  Will he indeed have tendencies to become the 'demon-like' apparition of her nightmares?  Or do we have more to fear from Lucius here, than from Severus---since Lucius seems to have very cleverly ensnared both Draco and Hermione, and could he not do the same to Severus? And I'm certain he did something to Ron as well--just how far does his web-spinning extend? The smoke and mirrors---everything keeps shifting, and while I believe 'this' Severus (up to Chapter 11) is good, you have me filled with all kinds of misgivings as to what "might" yet happen, that could make everything all go south very quickly...I am still hoping, at the end of all the drama, for Hermione and Severus to have that nice, quiet, peaceful life on the beach, but you've woven enough dark threads into that bright picture that there's still plenty of room for the angst to swallow up the light...but I hope not....Oh, and I must comment---I don't know if you intended it so, but my heart almost stopped in that chapter where Severus says, "I do not hunger, neither do I have thirst"---I thought for a moment there he was declaring himself to have resurrected as some non-human type of creature, whether zombie, inferi, or vampire, but something awful.  That---apparently---is not the case----?????Kudos! on a wonderful story, and I'm waiting with anxiousness for the next installment. 

"The thought of having sex with Professor Snape wasn’t very pleasant, especially since he’d been dead nearly a year"that really made me pause for thought--cuz he's not just coming back, they've already got a body.  weird.  I mean, hermione is dabbling in necromancy here!  and now practically necrophilia...

this is so eerie.  I want to know what mr weasley would do with this tome.  I mean, you can't see where it keeps its brain...
