Hermione, Ginny and Luna, sharing a girl moment, decide to cast a Pairing-Plight Troth Charm on themselves for fun. Each placed in the cauldron one yesterday-today-and-tomorrow flower with sugar and spice and everything nice, and a snip, a snail and puppy-dog tail as they each said the rhyme. For Ginny, the results are exactly what she expected, and for Luna, she was only mildly surprised. However, for Hermione, the results were disastrous! She thought she’d be paired to Ron and live happily ever after. So what happened and why is she seeing Professor Snape in her dreams? He’s dead – isn’t he?

I love to write. A dreamer, a creator and filled with wonder, imagination and life. Sometimes I get lost in the other worlds I've read and in some I create. It's all good, I’m in good company.
“Imagination does not become great until human beings, given the courage and the strength, use it to create.”― Maria Montessori
“Our imagination flies -- we are its shadow on the earth.”― Vladimir Nabokov
“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions.”― Albert Einstein
“Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were, but without it we go nowhere.” ― Carl Sagan

Thank you for another brilliant update! I thought he was taking Hermione to Spinners End to talk to her about their marriage? For one who had objections to her annuling their marriage, he did one good job for trying to get rid of her. She went willingly to his bed (which dissepointed me, I would have liked her stronger and with more selfrespect), he can not be blamed there, but I find it a bit creepy that seems to think of her like a child, he nearly called her Miss Granger during sex. While Hermione obviously is more affected by the bond than he is, I whish better for her, I want her stronger. As the balance between them are now they are un-equal and no relationship can survive that. (Not to mention that even if Hermione cast the spell, Severus have sure done his best to make the situation worse, behaving like a petulant child) I guess I had hoped to see a "grown-up" conversation between them, and was dissepointed to see no change in the relationship. If the next conversation helds the same lack of quality as this one, Hermione should sign the papers, safely knowing that whatever magic behind, the spell obviously was botched this time. (Just dont match her with Ron....)Still love the story though (even if I am starting to having doubts about the pairing)

Thank you very muh. The taking her to see his 'possessions and what he can provide for her' was simply a reaction to the articles in the Prophet. But he has walls and shell that he's built around himself that he isn't letting down. Yet. Don't worry, the balance is about to start shifting.

I don't believe he's started off his wooing the right way, but that might just be me. Sigh.

Yes, well, Severus in MHO doesn't really know how to woo a witch... Not really. He's never actually done it before (at least in his story)

I suspect Hermione will have her hands full. She probably gave up on Severus or perhaps she wanted him to come to a decision...Nice chapter with a few surprises.

I like that Lucius is trying to get Severus to realize what he has, even though he doesn't really approve. I hope Severus figures it out soon as I feel very sorry for Hermione. Thank you!

Yep, Lucius sees this for what it is - a opportunity! He is still facing his own trial and under house arrest, after all. But do keep in mind Lucius makes some very valid points.

I have the answer for Hermione. Get a wrought iron frying pan, whack him over the head (knock som sense into Severus) then talk. Lol, it probably wouldn't work, but she may feel better!

This was a bit sad all over. I hope they'll work it out somehow, but I guess it will take time when dealing with stubborn people like Hermione and Severus. LOL!Good chapter!

Sorry. Keep your chin up. I am calling this a 'romance' and 'frindship' story. I just need to switch wands on them (or switch tables - for all the Muggles). I'm working on it, diliengently.

Yes, an update! I feel so sad for Hermione and understand her desire to get on with things, he really hasn't shown her any consideration. I was so hurt in the last chapter when he just walked through the Floo without a word and now no word or note for 2-3 days! I've been ignored like that before and it was too much to overcome in the relationship, so I truly sympathize with Hermione. This is the best chapter so far. It's great when we get to see the thinking process of the characters, you do this so well. Can not wait for the next update.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
You are welcome. You know after I typed the last chapter, I went back over it a few times to catch my typos and yes, it hit me too how harsh I wrote it. But in his defense, Severus was in shock. He never truly expected to be completely pardoned for his sins and free. He just needed time to come to grips with the fact of that he was given.Thank you for the lovely reveiw. I really appreciat the compliment. the next chapter is nearly reay for updating.

ACK!!!!! hurry, Severus - get Hermione to help you clean up the house and you can get to know each other that way. don't wait too long! and talk to Minerva ASAP!! ACK!!!ps - thank you for the new chapter. I just got a little anxious at the way it ended.... very nice comparisons between Lily and Hermione! and I want to slap Maggie for being one of Rita Skeeter's sources.

It looks like Severus has been pushing Hermione away for too long. Soon he won't have her available to kick around anymore.

And that is a good thing. Once he realizes that - he will have to buck up and behave! But I did ned to switch the wands on them in order for this relationship to work.

People would flame you because a character who is known to be bigoted states his opinion? I'm Catholic, and it didn't offend me. I think Sev needs to get off his ass or he's going to end up without anything.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
I was worried that I'd have offended anyone by the statement. I'm pleased that you took it in the way I meant it. That is very reassuring. Yep - Severus had better come around. I'm working on that actually. Wait until you read about

One would hope that Hermione would make one last attempt at contacting Severus before filing those papers. I figure, that if I'd already put up with that much abuse, I might as well go for broke! *grins*If not, well - Severus will just have to woo her the old fashioned way once he gets his head on straight, which is about what he deserves at this point. As Minerva pointed out, Severus IS very much aware of wizarding conventions, even if Hermione doesn't understand all of the nuances involved.Lucius is correct in this instance; signed documents do not an annulment make with Soul-Bonding. It would never be over and I could see a very jealous Severus do something rash to a suitor of Hermione's - annulment and reversal be damned.I don't often beg, but I hope you have the next portion of the story in queue soon. I love this story. Thank you for another entertaining update.

I sure hope Severus (or Skeeter, because then it'd be splashed across the Prophet) doesn't receive word that Hermione's picked up the forms before he finally talks to her! And why hasn't he at least written her?!? It's been days, and if he's even considering getting to know her better she needs to know what he's thinking... of course, he might be expecting her to make the first move, if so this might not end well... Poor Hermione! Just feel so bad for her right now... And Lucius seems to be for the pairing! That's surprising, considering who she is; but if he's willing to support it, with how well and for how long he's known Severus, then that is quite promising in itself. Hope they talk sometime soon!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
I love all the emotioncons! cute! Oops - yes, both will know. sorry. He hasn't written her because he is stubborn. Not a good excuse, but he knows where to find her. and intimacy - not sex, real intimacy - isn't his forte! But yes, there will be some effort. The tables have to turn and I need to switch wands on them first.Yes, Hermione is having a rough time. There is still hope.Lucius isn't so much up ofr it but for what it could mean to his advantage. Plus he knows about the spell/curse. He knows what being matched by it means/does/ signifies. He understande the wizard conventions and the nuances involved. Besides, this is a new era and Lucius is a consumate politician - who is still under house arrest pending his trial. Having someone like Hermione on his side, even remotely, is a possibly advantage. The thing is that Severus' ego trip is fading somewhat. and he is starting to see that this spell did make the match, and she is a good match for him after all she is so much like Lily - in all the good ways. Hint - date. awkward. but a big first step is coming.

yay! so happy to see this update! well, sure severus has been acting horrible for the most part, and it stands to reason hermione is tired of it. of course, there were times when he softened towards her - unfortunately the timing has been way off, so those times never really amounted to anything. well, you've put them in a right pickle, and i know you will get them out of it, after they have jumped through all the appropriate hoops and torments. ; )

Kittlefish, You've got it so right. All of it. I'm just at the turning point, and their frist date... *laughs* Severus trying to be romantic and he's so out of practice. This isn't a suave Severus - he's a bit out of his league at the moment - but I'm a few chapters ahead of you...

Oh, no! I don't think Severus is really thinking that Hermione would annul the marriage, but he won't talk to her. It is selfish of him to hide away without speaking to her. I hope the annulment isn't instantly granted but provides a time frame for both parties to agree or disagree. Being told she is filing for an annulment may be just the kick in the ass he needs to make an effort and get over his pride.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Oh, yes! Nope, Severus doesn't really think she will - considerin she did visit him in jail - twice! for, as he sees it, to use sex to talk him into cooperating! He sees that as very Slytherin of her and is still surprised that she wanted sex with him - him. But damn his pride! You'll learn more about this annulment and such... there is a glitch. A big one. But yes, Sev gets more than one kick in the arse to get him to come around and try.... but I'm a few chapters ahead of you. Well, back to typing!

First of all, I am trilled that your brilliant story is updated!!! (And hoping that I won't have to wait to long for the next update:-)Then, what would I like to happen; Well, obviously I always want my happy ending, but then again, there can be no happy ending if it cost Hermione her selfrespect, her rigth to be treated like a human being etc. I know she cast the spell, but not even Lucius was blind enough to think that she did so with the intention of "trapping" Severus. Severus have issues, well that is hardly any news, Severus always have issues and are allowed to treat those not worthy of any respect (usually anyone not Slytherin or in power to inflickt trouble for him if he doesn't behave), like dirt. Then he can serve a sloppy excuse and expect everything to be fine and dandy. Hermione was on the rigth track; if anyone else have been treated the way she has been, she would have told them to leave. Of course, some of it is her fault, she did throw the spell, but worse, she allows Severus to treat her like dirt and a convenient free whore. What is also obvious, the only one who can "save" Hermione, is Hermione. She must make her decission on what her life is worth, is her crime so big that this is what she should accept to be treated for the rest of her life? Is it her job to let Severus work through his issues, take all his crap, and hope that he will someday turn into prince charming? As I said, I want my happy ending, but even as much as I love this pairing and I love Severus, I don't want Hermione to accept such a life. She is smart, she is talented, she is loyal, she has spent big parts of her childhood and teenage years figthing a grown-ups battle against the very same maniac Severus in his time swore alligance to (and figthing his "friends" who so bravely showed up in the Department of Mysteries, ready to kill fifth-grade children on their Lords command). For Severus to suddenly turn into a loving husband would be rather unlikely and would at this point probably ruin the whole story, but it is about time he took a hard, long look at himself in a mirror and grow the heck up. Oh my, a lot of ranting, poor Severus would probably have had serious trouble being able to treat anyone as a whore if I had been able to get my hands on him at the moment. I feel like hexing his bollocks off...:-))

, Wow what a fun, thoughtful and thought provoking review! Hint – don’t I keep checking off ‘romance’ and ‘friendship’ on each chapter? Yes, there’s some angst, and he’s being right thick and stubborn, a bit prideful, but I’m working on that. diligently!
Some things have to happen for ‘romance’ to come about: I have to switch wands on them – ei: switch the tables on them. That means he has to pursue/want her. Hermione has to stand up to him and not be afraid of him. But Severus isn’t exactly suave in this story when it comes to ‘dating’.
That Hermione has to start standing up for Hermione is right on – I’m working on that. She is at the end of her rope and just hasn’t let go. It’s the fact that she hasn’t let go – still gives them a chance. But things will have to change – I know this.
I really loved your rant. You see things very much as I do and how I have set them up. I hope you like where I take it from here. I look forward to reading more of your thoughts and rants.

What is it that she is always willing to sacrifice her own happiness in order to give Severus a way out, if that is what she wants?
Great chapter.

At this point Hermione is anything but happy. She is struggling with the fact that the spell identified Severus as her soul mate - and yet, even though eveyone tells her it will work out - it isn't. It's a tough place to be emotionally.Oh, and thank you for the compliment. I really appreciate it.

Loved the update, not at least because Severus finally seems to have taken use of his brain again...:-) Let's hope he will continue doing so and actually makes a real decission on weather he wants to make his bonding to Hermione work or if he should pull the usual "Woe me, I am an ugly old Death Eater and even if she says she cares, she is probably lying or feeling sorry for me, becuase she can't possible tell the truth or have the brain to actually make a decission on her own so I better make both of us unhappy by doing what neither actually wants....."Update again soon!
