Hermione, Ginny and Luna, sharing a girl moment, decide to cast a Pairing-Plight Troth Charm on themselves for fun. Each placed in the cauldron one yesterday-today-and-tomorrow flower with sugar and spice and everything nice, and a snip, a snail and puppy-dog tail as they each said the rhyme. For Ginny, the results are exactly what she expected, and for Luna, she was only mildly surprised. However, for Hermione, the results were disastrous! She thought she’d be paired to Ron and live happily ever after. So what happened and why is she seeing Professor Snape in her dreams? He’s dead – isn’t he?

I love to write. A dreamer, a creator and filled with wonder, imagination and life. Sometimes I get lost in the other worlds I've read and in some I create. It's all good, I’m in good company.

I'm glad that they are going to talk.

Hm, Hermione needs to take a deep breath of Gryffindor and just flat out confront Snape. She will never recognize his manouevers as any form of courting or reconciliation.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
You know, I think that's a great idea. Thank you. However, he hasn't really been courting her ir trying to be reconciliatory, he's still coming to terms himself and fighting it. But yes, Hermione needs to put her foot down. I'll work on that. Thank you for this review.

Oh you will find out in the next chapter. Btw - it's a real place, not canon or fandom. I don't think it's ever been used in fandom and it was around even when he was a kid... I'll update as soon as I can. Thank you for the reveiw.

I loved the date, not a date! The description of Snape and Harry waiting for Hermione was lovely.(I did find small typo in that scene - 'hand resting on his the ankle')
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Thank you. Yes, it was fun writing Hermione getting ready to go out with Severus and not knowing where she was going. Harry was such a trooper to wait with her, wasn't he. Imagine Severus' face when Harry opened the door and told him to sit down she wasn't ready yet. Thank you for the catch - I appreciate it.

Nice! I hope that Severus pulls his head out of his arse at long last. You've got a canon spelling mistake that you may want to clear up: It's PYGMY, not pigmy puff.

This is such a great story! Liked this line: My Bonding gift to you, Severus, and for everything you’ve done for me and my family. I hope someday you’ll forgive me, she thought, grinning. Wonder if Severus is going to discover this 'gift' on his own, or if Hermione'll be with him when he first sees the changes that the elves will make when assigned to bring it up to a respectable livable condition as if (their Mistress) was going to be staying there. Hermione certainly seemed nervous for her 'non-date'. Curious as to where he is taking her, and why he asked about the comfort level of her shoes for walking... Guessing it's at least a non-Wizarding locale though, because he wasn't wearing robes and it seems like he would be the type to adhere to some kind of (unspoken) dress code except for in the privacy of his own home (and perhaps in Malfoy Manor, depending on the circumstances)... Looking forward to the next chappie! (And getting some of my questions answered...maybe...)

Aura, Thank you for the lovely review. I'm glad you liked Narcissa's intervention. Yes, it will be quite a surprise, but I can't really tell you if he'll be alone or not. BUt you can bet the house-elves took her words to heart!! Oh, and did anyone tell you - giving away furnishings means redecorating! Lovely concept for a woman - new!! Yes, I think I'd be just as nervous for a non-date date with Severus. I mean, just where do you think someone as nonconventional yet, adheres to the 'code' would take a girl? Hint: It's a real place. Not canon and I've never seen it used in fandom. Ok, that doesn't help, but you can see the place on Google Earth and it's on the internet. Severus showed it to me! It's also been around when he was a kid. I know that this doesn't answer any of your questions, but all of them will be answered soon, I promise. Thank you for the fun review.

Wow, they can't even figure out WHERE to have a talk, never mind what to say when they get there. This is going to be hard work. However, it is about time Severus made an effort.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Yes, well it took me a while to get him to tell me where he was gooing to take her and I'm writing this bloody thing! Any way, location is decided. Yes, he is actually going to make an effort. About bloody time too!Thank you so much for the review. I'll get the next chapter - the date - up as soon as I can.

yay for Narcissa and Kingsley! with them in the pic - and with Luna's optimism - I see hope for our favorite couple. now if only the Nargles can eat the annulment papers. thanks for the new chapter!!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Oh I love this reivew. Nargles eat the annulment papers! LOL I just thought that since Hermione has, Harry, Ginny, Luna, George and Ron (once he pulls his head out) on her side (Okay, Ron isn't really on her side, yet)Severus should have a few friends on his. So, the Malfoys have stepped in. Why not!Yep, and Kingsley is a gem to play with, and he's having so much fun. I'm glad you like this story.

why laughest thou? feed the Nargles, feed the Nargles!!

Interesting chapter. Hermione and Severus really do need to talk to each other, but they need to figure out a common language rather than speaking Griffindor and Slytherin, as neither one is particularly adept at the other's language.I'm looking forward to seeing where they go for their talk. More soon, please.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Yes, it's obvious that they need to learn how to communicate with each other. The 'date' is coming up soon. Thank you for the review.

Wow... Severus definitely hasn't thought through his approach to keeping Hermione. He can't command her like that, but I think it fits his character well.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Teehehe Yes, well, he thought it through - a little. You'll see on chap 17 what he was thinking in his next try... I was so trying to have him in character, and no he doesn't really know how to treat her as a romantic interest. He hasn't let anyone 'in' since Lily.

Thank you. Well, I don't think Severus is really comfortalbe letting down the walls and opening the shell he's built around himself yet. At least he knows he needs to talk to he if this is going to work.

yay, hooray, for another update to this story! :D so severus is stumbling around, trying to figure out how to remove his head from his a*s and make some headway with her. he is so clueless - worse than clueless, really, because he's just waiting for her to reject and slight him and - oh, and now he probably thinks she has! and there's poor hermione, wanting him to want her back, and needing some kind of sign, and there he is stumbling (see above). what a pickle. it would be very nice to see one or the other of them just LAY THEIR CARDS ON THE TABLE. but then i guess the story would be over too soon. i hope that narcissa's book helps him at least get a clue, poor dear, because i think hermione needs to see a little more from him - although maybe the multiple orgasms help a little? ; )
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Yes, you about summed it up right. But if I did have him just ‘open up to her’ and ‘lay it all out’ risking rejection and annulment – the end. Dull. Sorry, gonna have some fun getting him to open up. Yes, Hermione needs a lot from him actually, but he’s so used to being guarded and closed off he isn’t ready to be ‘open.’ Tough, I know. Hey, there is Lucius/Narcissa and Luna/Ginny giving advice, so there is hope. Oh, wait, there is also Ron…. Rita… Maggie. Hummmm?
Response from kittylefish (Reviewer)
i forgot to say before, i'm really glad kingsley is laying in wait to catch rita and is on to maggie. though i'm sure both - and ron - will manage to wreak more havoc before we are through. especially after reading your response to me! anyway - have at it! i'm enjoying this story too much to want it to end any time soon!

He is quite the ass, n'est-ce pas?
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Ok, I'm obviously not using a 'debonair lady's man in disguise' his more the anti-social slightly acrebic type. However there is room for improvement. What's n'est-ce pas mean?
Response from mikimoto (Reviewer)
A french major may have a better answer, but to me, it means "isn't that so?" or "isn't that the way it is?" or "isn't that right?" or "isn't that the truth!" I think it kind of depends on the way it is emphasized when it is said out loud. In this case, I am kind of asking you if you agree that Severus is acting like an ass.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)

I love that Severus has realized he needs to work to win Hermione over. He definately needs to consult the book Lucius gave him! I like your portrayal of the Malfoys, they are very realistic, I think there is hope for them yet, to see the error of their ways.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Yep, he sure does need the help - however, it was Narcissa who gave him the book. Thank you for your compliment regarding the Malfoys. That's really nice of you to say!

c'mon, Hermione - at least invite him into Grimmauld for dinner! Kreacher is the one doing the cooking. I hope Kingsley catches Rita and Maggie and squishes them. Severus hasn't talked with her yet about his becoming Headmaster and how that would affect their ability to be together. I'm glad she saw some potential in his house, which needs to be fixed up anyway to be worth more on the market. Kreacher might enjoy the challenge! thanks for the update.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
That wasn't one of his offers, but you'll see in next chapter...Yep, Kingsley is seting up a trap. The house was fixed up, a bit, sort of. Imagine what it must have looked like with Worntail in it?

Love this fic!!! Glad Kingsley's going to do something about that gossiping witch! And that he's putting measures in place to deal with Rita Skeeter. The charmed book was a nice touch. Severus is probably going to need all the advice he can get in order to really work things out with Hermione... Speaking of advice, wasn't he planning on talking to Minerva (about whether he should accept the Headmaster position and how their Bonding would work if both he and Hermione went back to school)? Am curious about how that conversation would go since Hermione's already told Minerva her side of things... Glad that Severus has finally made a move, and that he did bring up their needing to talk rather than 'treating her like a convienent call girl' (even if they didn't end up doing much talking this time around), also that they made plans to get together again and get some actual talking done. Feel kinda bad for Severus (though I don't think she meant or saw it that way) that he seemed to feel like she 'didn't choose him' twice before he took her home... First, when she wanted to go eat rather than joining him again in bed, and then she chose to go to Harry's when he asked “So which will it be, dinner with me at the manor or returned to Grimmauld Place?” Know he was disappointed, and think he's likely to take both as personal slights rather than just that she was hungry and doesn't trust/feeel comfortable being around the Malfoys... Can't wait to see what Hermione thought of their latest encounter, and what their next meeting will be like!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Thank you very much. Yes, I either helped solve the problem or stirred up the cauldron by Kingsley’s actions. Time will tell.
Yep, Severus could use the help of the book. Too bad he hasn’t used it yet! And yes, He is going to talk to Minerva about being Headmaster while his wife is a student. You haven’t read that yet… and yes, He did set a date for ‘talking.’ (In fact I’m still working on that chapter. It’s giving me a bit of a tickle right now.)
Yes, Hermione did actually decline him twice, although he could have made a better choice. It was the ‘at the manor part she was refusing, not so much as spending time ‘eating’ with him. Location, location, location. And keep in mind, I didn’t say how long he was out. Hermione was coming home from shopping and was probably already hungry when he abducted her. But he’s smart-ish. Just not so with the wooing part.
The next chapter should be done soon.

Hold the phone! I do not believe Cyrano's book + Hermione's knickers = the "wooing" that just took place in the house on Spinner's End. I don't think he read the book yet. This event seems more like Severus Snape trying to show Hermione more of what she should expect being his wife--having a broken down home that he thinks "smells like death." The fact that the ill maintained house was his father's and in a Muggle belly-up mill town and Severus spends little time there says a lot without words.Their sexual encounter was profoundly different this time. He saw to it that Hermione was pleased repeatedly before he sought his own release. Despite his slip up beginning to use a formal address with her, as he has done for the last 7 years, it does demonstrate that Severus is behaving in a different, more favorable, manner. I believe he was trying to "lay his cards on the table" so to speak, so Hermione would know he lacks possessions, how troubled his family life was, without going into detail, and how sorry he was for mistreating her sexually when he was angry. I also believe he has demonstrated he desires her and is willing to make an effort to avoid an annulment; otherwise, why would he have sought her out?Narcissa's words were quite the revelation. What a stab in the heart of friendship hearing she was putting on an act around him initially. She disliked him just because of his blood status and because he loved a "Mudblood" witch. He is right about Hermione being able to see through Narcissa's politeness. She knows what the Malfoys really think about her and her "kind." Plus the fact that she was tortured and nearly murdered in that house by Narcissa's sister while the Malfoys stood around and watched; why would anyone think Hermione would feel comfortable enough in that house to stay there, never mind actually live there. Severus was disappointed he did not make more headway, or perhaps it would be better to say have more control over Hermione, to accompany him to Malfoy Mannor for a meal, but it was an unrealistic expectation.

Nope, he may have activated the book, but he hasn't used it yet. He took her to his home bacause of the articles in the Prophet, but the thing is he does want her. So he tried showing her what he does have, in an essance a window into his life/past too.Yep, Narcissa is a piece of work. Sev was surprised, but knowing she's Slytherin I don't think it was that much of a shock. But he is good friends with the Malfoys now, and unrealistic or not, married to Severus will include encounters with Malfoys.Thank you for the review.

Boy is our man surly. I am glad that Narcissa spoke to him and tried to provide a woman's perspective to him. Too bad he didn't try a bit of charm and invite her out to dinner somewhere Muggle since she didn't want to go the Manor. He also could have made a slight effort with Spinner's End before bringing her there, even if he expected her to reject him. I understand the 'take me as I am' bit, but still. It was nice that Severus started viewing Hermione with a bit more appreciation and respect of her abilities, but he's still a prick in my books. They aren't going to make much headway if they keep hopping into bed without dealing with the rest of it all, so I hope the next meeting goes a bit better for the both of them.Happy writing!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Thanks. Yep, Narcissa is trying to help him through this... adn she'll do a bit more later. In regard to making an effort with the house - he returned all the things that the Aurors took, cleaned and straightened up the mess made by the Aurors' raid, and any mess Worntail left in the house... that's why the man feel asleep right after sex! But still 'cleaned up by wand.' But alass, he's still being a prick. The next meeting - next chapter...

Magnanimous, noble of mind and heart, generous in forgiving; above revenge and resentment; unselfish and gracious. Wonder if that is what Severus thought of Narcissia's gift or a new standard he is going to try to hold himself to. Hermione showed she has no problems with the adjective after being kidnapped and... I'm not sure what to call their encounter. I like the additional sub-plots going on in the story it gives wonderful depth and dimension. Thanks for the long length I love to settle in for a good read.

I did pick the word for a reason. But Severus has to let down the walls and shell he's built around himself and that isn't easy for him. Hermione is simply bearing up. It won't last before she's had enough. Thank you for the review.
