Hermione, Ginny and Luna, sharing a girl moment, decide to cast a Pairing-Plight Troth Charm on themselves for fun. Each placed in the cauldron one yesterday-today-and-tomorrow flower with sugar and spice and everything nice, and a snip, a snail and puppy-dog tail as they each said the rhyme. For Ginny, the results are exactly what she expected, and for Luna, she was only mildly surprised. However, for Hermione, the results were disastrous! She thought she’d be paired to Ron and live happily ever after. So what happened and why is she seeing Professor Snape in her dreams? He’s dead – isn’t he?

I love to write. A dreamer, a creator and filled with wonder, imagination and life. Sometimes I get lost in the other worlds I've read and in some I create. It's all good, I’m in good company.

Hopefully. I have the next one ready to be beta's but my beta's sick right now... so I'm waiting ....Thank you for the review.
There were many points in this chapter that stand out. Maggie getting her comeuppance! Ron commenting on Hermione and George working in tandem like George did with Fred. Just loved the idea about Fawkes' ashes; adding tears to the ash on a new moon. Severus pointing out all the details about the spell in plain, simple terms. Hermione asking to see his bed-space in Slytherin, going to the playground ... and then it all went down the tubes with Hermione realizing that she had taken someone's life. No matter how they try to paint it, 'it was them or you', it can't be easy to accept that you've killed someone else.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Yes, Maggie certainly has been put on a leash. Yes, Ron is a bit jealous that his brother can enjoy a light casual realtionship with Hermione and he's having toruble even talking to her. There is a reason for Fawkes. But in regards to seeing Slytherin, Hermione wants to get to know Severus, to connect. By seeing where he revised and slept, she can see a glimps into his past that isn't painful for Severus to talk about. Same as asking about his favorite places and finding out they have a few of those in common. She's come out of a war, but knowing she killed, that is hard. Thank you for the review.
Very interesting chapter. I liked how Severus and Hermione had a rather nice bonding moment together...stupid Death Eaters interrupting! Anyway, nice job...can't wait for more!~Jen

Their next conversation should be interesting, her reaction gives them a starting point. Poor Ron, he has to fell abandoned by everyone. Thanks for the update.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)

You are very welcome. Thank you for staying with me and following along.
Another great action- and emotion-packed chapter. Love it.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Thank you very much. Yes, the emotions were in swing in this one. Thank you for the review.
poor Severus doesn't get a break! I'm hoping that Hermione really, really understands why her friends are hurting her relationship with Severus. mostly, I hope she appreciates how much Severus is trying -- protecting her life, opening up painful memories to her, showing her all those books when she should have trusted him in the first place. so Severus can use the ashes to bring back Fawkes to sing to him and make him feel better? I wonder what else Fawkes could do for him.... thank you for the new chapter! I don't know what ails Shug, but I hope she is well.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Actually in this chapter the Weasleys are trying to be supportive of her realtionship with Severus. Bill and even Charlie are aware of what's going on enough to run bumper. Molly even tried the 'keep em busy' approach. Fleur asked Hermione to sit with her... and Bill and Harry both thried to make Ron see reason, even if Harry stuck his foot in his mouth doing so.Hermione will start to see how he is trying. But she is also doing him a good turn by trying to get him to focus on the good bits of his past. She's not trying to drudge up the bad. Yes, he's protecting her, opening up as much as he can, but the trip to the library was to 'let her see for once and for all' thing, and a 'I told you so.' Yes, seh should have believed Lucius too, and Mrs. Longbottom.Fawkes, well, sort of... Thank you for the review.
Response from June W (Reviewer)
I realize all the Weasleys were trying to help keep Ron away from Hermione; I was just thinking of how uncomfortable Severus would have been had he shown up after Hermione kinda-sorta invited him. the library thing -- after all her efforts to find books on the subject, there were all those books right there in the Hogwarts library! I really do enjoy this story, even if Hermione and Ron are exasperating to me. it just shows that you've written them realistically!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
LOL Oh, I think that if Severus had, Bill and Charlie would have engaged him in conversaion, or Arthur, too. Only Ron would have been sulking in the corner, and Harry, George and Ginny would have tried to get him to sit at the table or something. hmmm, you gave me a good idea...Most of the books were about triad spells, spells using three aspects of magic tied together. Some were about Bonding spells, like bonding a memory to an object. But all related, and yes, probably a book or tow on the Moon Song spell as well. He was showing her a comparative group so she could draw conclusions. Severus wouldn't hand her the answer and say 'here.'
Just when things seem to be improving. At least the Weasleys are banding together to keep Hermione properly protected from Ron's advances. I will have to re-read some previous chapters. Did someone speak with the Weasleys or did they realize the young men were jeopardizing Hermione's bond and reputation?
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Yes, just when. I'm sure that Bill, Charlie, Mr and Mrs Weasley all read the Daily Prophet, and Ginny and Hermione had confessed what they'd done (the Moon Song spell) So they all know what's going on. I think the Weasleys are trying to protect Ron from a jealous and angry (if he got wind) Severus Snape. Aurthur, Molly, Bill and any of the Order memebers would have gotten to know Severus a little, and Arthur and Molly would recall the reasons he'd joined the Order, possibly. Plus they are pure-bloods - they might know the social mores of the pure-bloods.Thank you for the review. I hope this helps, sorry for rambling.
great chapter - i really liked the stroll down memory lane and the "sort of" softness and concern that severus is starting to display
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Thank you very much. Hermione is just trying to learn about her Bonded and reaching for what she can get. He's a tough nut to crack. Yes, a bit of the 'caring protector' came out in Severus. But then, he was always a protector, wasn't he?"Thank you for the review.
I'm so glad this is back! I've truly been missing it! You have me intrigued with what exactly is going on in Maggie's office, and who's really behind this shake-up and what their motives are. And the scenes with Hermione and Severus were perfect; I love how they finally seem to be taking the first tentative steps TOWARD one another, whereas up to now they've been pushing one another away. So, so glad to see this!Looking forward eagerly to your next, and to finding out who it is who is "after" Hermione, and how long it will take Severus to realize that he possibly _can_ have something he had lost, return to him.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Thank you. I hadn't realized I'd left. Oh, things for Maggie are going to get uncomfortable. Kingsley didn't like haveing a mole in his Ministry. LOL I'm very glad that you liked the interaction between Severus and Hermione. Yep, there is one tiny step toward each other. And yes, they are not shoving so much in this one. Dolohov, for revenge.Probably a bit more. But he is at least still trying. She on the other hand is just at the acceptance stage, again.Thank you for the review. My second set of eyes is unfortunately out of commission for a while. So I dunno when I'll update. I need to find a fill in beta.
Response from countrymouse (Reviewer)
I know you hadn't gone---I guess I just love this story so much I've been impatient for it to update, and so it seemed a long time.I'll be glad to help (if you still want me, from previous work with you). I'm fairly good at spotting lost commas, displaced letters, and ill-bred grammatical constructions attempting to inflict their faux pas upon your story. But I can just be a sounding board as well, if one is needed. Let me know if you need me and are interested (and no worries if not--smile).
Again with the wonderful chapter. I wanted to cry when Severus was talking about his crap-tastic past. Not only for him and how bitter he sounds (for good reason) but for Hermione. I mean it must be a bitch being in that situation but then having it thrown in your face that you really don't know anything about your spouse and that he kinda resents you for your peachy past really sucks. I know I'm kind of rambling but I just feel so invested in these characters and this story now. The more you write the more sucked in I am. Anyways, I'm going to stop the babbling now. Please update again soon. Much Love ~ Brena
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Breana, Thank you for your comments. I think Severus' is really bitter about his past, or that Hermione keeps making him rememeber things he'd rather put behind him and forget. She means well, is only doing ti to get to know him, but it's akward for them both. Feel free to ramble at me anythime! I love it. I'm so flattered that you like this story so much, thank you. and thank you for the reviewing.
I am constantly in awe and impressed by your storytelling. Every chapter in amazing and is crammed with information and movement. The dialouge is spot on for the characters and the web you are weaving keeps everyone on their toes and evolving. Seriously hon, this story is just so wonderfully put together. I loved the idea of Lucius kidnapping her just to have lunch, and then let her in on the "Pureblood" secret to the Moon-Song Curse. The whole interaction between the two of them was informative and funny at times too. Thanks again for this beautifully crafted story! Much Love ~ Brena
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Wow, Brena, Thank you so much for such heartwarming compliments. I'm truly speachless! I'm glad you liked Lucius 'kidnapping' her in order to have lunch with her idea, it was the only way to get them together, and yes, I did it to give Hermione information needed to move the story forward a bit. Thank you again for such truly appreciated comments. Hugs~
Wonderful story, been reading for a while

that certainly discribes his childhood. so sad. perhaps they could get a house that both of them would like. wonderful update. thanks so much
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Thank you. Yes, but then he is focusing on the negative, isn't he? There had to ahve been a happy memory or two as wel, regardless how bad it was otherwise, don' t you think? You are very welcome. Thank you for the review.
Awesome job! I'm glad Hermione and Severus are starting to really work things out. I'm also happy Hermione's realizing the truth about the spell. Wonderful chapter. Keep up the good work. ~Jen
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Thank you very much. Yes, Hermione now has facts (books) and a realization that this is permanent. Yes, they ar both making an effort to try. They have a way to go yet.Thank you so much for the review.
Great chapter, has she finally unerstood that she has to make the best of what she has?? I'm really looking forward to the next chapter!!!!gabPS: Hermione's going back to school to take her NEWTS, so Severus can't be thinking that she already got an Outstanding in Arithmancy, can he?
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Thank you very much. I think she is realizing that she does, at least she has books to answer her questions.Severus knows she got an O on her OWLs. Thank you for the review.
I think the use of Neville's grandmother was a perfect way to transition Hermione into accepting that the bonding can't be broken. This was a reputable, neutral source of information. Plus, her books provided a romatic interpretation of the spell, this is an 19 year old girl, afterall. This is also a 19 year old that never had the chance to be a normal teenager, she had to study and find a way to keep Harry alive. I got the feeling Snape may know that, judging by the way he's trying to give her some time to adjust. Has he tried to use the trick he read about to strengthen the bond. I'm assuming he hasn't. And why hasn't he asked about her parents? He has to be curious.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Thank you very muc. Yes, she's a perfect balance to Lucius' cut and dry explanation. Yes, Hermione is a young teemage girl who's had 2 romantic interests, Krum (A short, maybe innocent fling) and Ron (and we know how that went). And now Severus Snape - and boing = magically Bonded. Take about an adjustment - and it's not like he made the transition well either! Look what he put her through!Seveus is just starting to accept this union. He may seem like he's being patient, but I think he is just waiting for her to either break down and cry or give in.Hmmm... the connection of the Bond has been tested, but whether he knew it or no, I don't know. Severus hasn't asked about parents because he's afraid it will lead to more questions about his own, and there are DE's still out there... I don't think he's at the curious stage yet.
Some progress, I think. :)
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Yes, a little!
