Teenage Severus Snape and Lily find a room in the castle with a partially hidden staircase that leads them up to a private room at the top of a tower that even the Marauders don't know about.
Then twenty years later, Hermione Granger finds the room. Suddenly she’s confronted by Severus Snape, who’s always considered tower room to be his own private little nook, finds herself not only under the rooms spell, but must now meet the conditions of the room with the one professor that has always been her biggest enigma.

Ah, those two. And his past with Lily was so much of an obsession, and so little of real affection. She did not love him the way he loved her. I've never thought that. You captured that idea quite well.

Another amazing chapter, filled with both intriguing interactions and information! Lily's gone for good, Sev--time to get over it (we know he won't, but still...)
But now that Hermione knows who the HBP is, what will she tell Snape? Will she confess that she knows?

great chapter. the scenes with lily made me very sad for severus. it's so sad that he didn't realize how serious the threat was, and so that she was right about his needing to choose, until it was too late. at least in the "present" time line, he now knows that hermione cares about him, no matter what comes next. of course, about that - i am very curious to see how you are going to handle it. and a little worried about what it means for our couple.
btw, i noticed a little boo boo: "I dont not appreciate dalliances" should be don't or do not. : )

Well, as I'm following canon on the reationship between Lily and Severus (it falls apart and she marries his nemisis) we do know I had to make the break up happen, and show his repinning for her. Only I have the spells on the tower to blame as to why he never 'got over' her. And we know he joins the Dark Lord.Yes, there is the 'timeline' I'm using and yes, very soon I will have a chapter with a 'character death' warning, but you do know who dies. It will mean that I have DH to deal with (in two or so chapters) and get back to the story. I always get a little anxious in stories set at the end of the 6th year, knowing what's coming and all. As far as the dates in the story, I don't know if they are right but they certainly made me aware of the events approaching. I look forward to more chapters.

Hm, their first time outside of the Tower. At least there has been some discussion and some agreement outside the effects of that Tower room.

Just the story I was looking for one that would parallel both ships, without Lily and Snape’s relations ship being one sided. I’m one of those people that fill in the missing parts of canon with more stuff on why Snape did what he did. I also like how Hermione is questioning if she is attractive and if anyone wants her. That is so realistic and it also gives another interpretation about what Hermione might have been crying about. It doesn’t always have to be author’s intent.

Another enjoyable chapter and I still don’t have a clue what the spells can be. I like the contrast between older and younger Snape in both the story and your art work.

I’m enjoying this so far. I am both a SS/LE and SS/HG shipper. I guess. So since my interpretation for Lily and Snape is that there are so many outside pressures especially in each other’s own house. And group mentality is very strong at that age. I also wonder if you are going to do anything with the doe patrouns story line. I don’t believe canon (which I see only as the text) was very clear about that. How did Harry know what his mum patronus was? I also found it funny that does and stags don’t mate and does mate with bucks. Also that on the Snape’s coat of arms there is a buck. Sorry for the rambling, but I’m kind of scared of what might happen in the SS/LE story line. Just my own silliness and time for me to get some sleep.

How will Hermione and Snape unravel all those spells? I wonder if we will see them working close together, so something more develops.
“The wounds on my leg were from feeding the blasted beast with Hagrid,” I always like it when an author takes a different interpretation on what might have happened. I might just keep this for my personal canon.

Oh no a cliff hanger. Lucky for me I don’t have to wait. The mystery is great. I’m still wondering who the other couples were that were enchanted by the room. I also want to say I enjoy your art work also. I put some of them on my favorites at devienart. Off to read the next chapter.

The first part of this chapter answered my question, “Each time you enter the room…” I always enjoy how an author comes up with new charms and such, like you did with the Ensnaring Curse, Enticing Curse and others.
“…perfect place to watch the sunrise with the woman you could truly love…” I’m thinking the Bloody Baron is speaking of Hermione and Severus is thinking of Lily. Or hopefully he can have both.
“Thus your secret room will entrap you and hold your soul until you are connected by your true match…” Is that why he goes to the tower? Was he surprised when Hermione showed up?
I also like how you have the Bloody Baron and Grey Lady in this story.

Another great chapter. I like the mystery. Is it the room or something else? Also is it a mystery why the door doesn’t open right away. I always think that someone is going to catch them. Did I miss something? Or is part of the mystery is that the couple has to go further and further till, so the door will open.

Sorry I haven't reviewed every chapter faithfully, but I just couldn't stop reading!! I love this story...you're a great writer. I can't wait to find out more about the tower and if Severus and Hermione's relationship is meant to be. I also can't help wondering what's going to happen when Snape kills Dumbledore, unless you're altering that part of Half-Blood Prince, which I noticed you were following. Interesting. I'm guessing the important date is April 1947? I just vonder what exactly Voldemort wanted wuth that painting? If one looks in the windows, does one see the inside the castle as it was painted, or as it is today?

I would think it would show the castle as painted in teh time of the artist, but with magical stuff - who knows? especially how the original painting was charmed. I do know that he took the painting because of the charms on it... because he didn't want something seen - or figured out.Thank you for the thought provoking review.

Hmm... I'm not so hot with history and dates so I guess I'll just have to wait until you give further information on that :) But I like how this mystery is unraveling and it seems you are writing it so that the reader has to use the clues and figure it all out - I think that's pretty cool myself. I'm sure I won't be one of the people who DOES figure it out - like I said, I'm bad with dates and such - but I will enjoy the ride all the same. :)

Daisy Dodderidge was the founder and first landlady of the Leaky Cauldron, and according to HP Lexicon she lived between 1467 -1555. If so she’d have been seventeen in 1484. Wulfred Olins is of my own creation.Dorcus Wellbeloved, according to HP Lexicon, lived between 1812 – 1904 and was the founder of the Society for Distressed Witches. She would have been seventeen in 1829. Beaumont Smethyk is an OC but I wordked out his date based upon hers. 'The original hung in the Leaky Cauldron until April 1947 when the painting mysteriously disappeared. It was considered to be the most detailed magical rendition of the castle ever made. The viewer could supposedly see inside the castle, through every window on every floor as if looking into a dollhouse.' - I don't think Voldemort would have wanted this painting hanging out in the open if it could possibly show this much of the castle to a viewer. Waht do you think? The rest of the dates were fabricated to fit the story - and relate to the devolpment of the castle. Yes, the room has a lot to do with the Grey Lady + the Baron and Ravenclaw. Hermione will be surprised.Hope this helps.
