Teenage Severus Snape and Lily find a room in the castle with a partially hidden staircase that leads them up to a private room at the top of a tower that even the Marauders don't know about.
Then twenty years later, Hermione Granger finds the room. Suddenly she’s confronted by Severus Snape, who’s always considered tower room to be his own private little nook, finds herself not only under the rooms spell, but must now meet the conditions of the room with the one professor that has always been her biggest enigma.

I love to write. A dreamer, a creator and filled with wonder, imagination and life. Sometimes I get lost in the other worlds I've read and in some I create. It's all good, I’m in good company.
“Imagination does not become great until human beings, given the courage and the strength, use it to create.”― Maria Montessori
“Our imagination flies -- we are its shadow on the earth.”― Vladimir Nabokov
“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions.”― Albert Einstein
“Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were, but without it we go nowhere.” ― Carl Sagan

Thank you very much. Would you want to stay away?

Honey, I'd move into that room! *lol* I'd be the unofficial fifth house at Hogwarts, BoinkingSnarkypants, the house for people sleeping with the potions professor.
I'm enjoying the story, but I agree with Pookah that problems with the Bloody Baron's speech patterns were jarring. The Bloody Baron lived around 1100 AD/CE, which means that when he was alive, he either spoke a dialect of French known as Anglo-Norman (given that he was a member of the nobility) or he spoke Old English, which is so different from Modern English that it seems like a foreign language to us (think of Beowulf in the original or selections from the Anglo-Saxon Reader). The Grey Lady, as a contemporary of the BB, would likewise have spoken either Anglo-Norman or Old English. So it's odd that the Grey Lady currently speaks Modern English (no different from Hermione's speech patterns, really) whereas the Bloody Baron currently speaks Early Modern English (think of Shakespeare and Milton). FYI - Thee, thou, thine, thy, etc., were only in use for roughly two centuries (about 1500 to 1700), which would mean that the BB's speech changed significantly during roughly the first five hundred years of his ghosthood but stopped adapting three hundred years ago whereas the Grey Lady's speech kept up with the times. I'm not sure if you intended that to be the case or if you are assuming the Baron's speech in your story is not really different from what it had been when he lived.Nevertheless, if you want to keep the Early Modern English for the Bloody Baron, but want to smooth out his pronouns and verbs, you could follow this guide:http://alt-usage-english.org/pronoun_paradigms.htmlAlso, I do want to repeat that I'm enjoying the story and to say that the BB's speech isn't a fatal flaw. But his speech patterns in the last chapter don't seem "natural" and in the context of the characters' timelines, it's odd that he's using pronouns like thee and thine.

Thank you for the information. You made a few things really clearer for me.
I love that you filled in some of the back story about the spells on the room but I find now I have even more questions. LOL Is Severus still under the magic of the room so that he still visits it daily in search of true love? Will Hermione be able to resist the pull of the room until she figures out how or what needs to be done to break the magic? (Do I really want her to? lol) Great chapter!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Enchanted Tower Room)
Thank you.
If you go to the room, you will fall victim to the enchantments and curses. I don’t want to answer tese now because I already have later in the story. What I will tell you (because it’s already given to you,) is that when Severus is alone in the room he feels peaceful, serene, and at ease. And no, Hermione like Severus will not be able to resist the room – but she will try…Now, the secret of the room is revealed... It certanly explains a lot, especially Severus's insistence that Hermione doesn't return, since he knows what he'll have to do.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Enchanted Tower Room)
Yes, he knows about the room, and is flustered that Hermione is falling (fallen actually) under the rooms spells as well. He just feels its inappropriate and against his ethics, but is still compelled to.
Who are the six other couples? I mean, other than SS/LE...
Terrific story so far!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Enchanted Tower Room)
Someone else asked the same question. As I told them, in nearly 900 years or more, the Grey Lady has managed to keep all but 5 couples out of the Tower. (Between you and me it would be fun to speculate...) but unfortunately, I'm not adding in that info yet. (Tell you what - I'll let you name a pair. But keep in mind you may have to consider a pair from a long time back - please.)
Response from KingPig (Reviewer)
Ooo. Wow, this is a true honor. Hmm...Moaning Myrtle and Tom Riddle? Or is that not back far enough? McGonagall and <insert random male name... or female?>? Oh, gosh... I was thinking she kept Lucius/Narcissa out, but that wasn't that long ago, so.. well, I hope I at least suggested someone you might consider. Hehe, Remus and Sirius could be an option too, having seen Lily and Snape go through the secret passage and trying to find out what Snape was "up to"... Well, I stink at this, lol. Sorry.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Enchanted Tower Room)
You're welcome. Consider going to HPLexicon and looking at the past old timers too. As long as it is feasible(and I'll even take the more colorful matches as long as age of the couple is on) I'll use them and work them into the story.
Response from KingPig (Reviewer)
How about Phineas Nigellus Black and Ursula Flint?
Interesting tale, but the mistakes with the old time speech are maddening. Too late to change, now, I suppose, but after the contest is over.....I hope you aren't mad at my saying this. Other than those mistakes, it is an intriguing story. Although I generally avoid student-Hermione/Snape tales, I find myself coming back to read another chapter.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Enchanted Tower Room)
I’m really glad that you like my story, but a bit bothered about your comment regarding the Baron’s speech. I’d love to ask you and possible know what mistakes I made. All I can think of is to either ask Southern_Witch_69 (since she is the moderator of this challenge) to email you or ask that you contact her as a go-between. I’d really like to know what I did wrong if you’re really more familiar with the old courtly love speech than I am. I'll be using the Baron again in a later chapter and would hate to muck it up again.I am very happy that even though this isn’t your usual type of story and yet you are following it – I’m very flattered. I made sure that Hermione is of age as well as young Severus and Lily. I didn’t want to offend anyone but doing underage considering the material.Thank you for your review. I hope that I hear from you.
Response from pookah (Reviewer)
Oh gee, i haven't been checking resposes for a few weeks. I will write to Southern witch tonight and be happy to lend my simple 'expertise' which is mostly from reading a lot of Shakespeare as a teen.
Response from pookah (Reviewer)
also, I am going to place a bio in my member information so I can list my e-mail address for you.
Response from pookah (Reviewer)
I can't get the button thingy to work to send a message to Southern Witch, so I didn't. But you are welcome to write me at arabellaleesmith@yahoo.com

Me'sa so stupie! I just returned to your story, and although I didn't answer your response to my review, you responded anyway and changed the language. If you ever want to put in thees and thous with the proper verb conjugation, I'm your girl, I assume that would be all you'd want to do since, as you pointed out in your new author's note, english in 1000 AD was closer to Beowulf than Chaucer ---and even Chaucer can be hard for us moderns to understand.Best wishes in the contest!-Pookah
Very cool. I really like that particular twist.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Enchanted Tower Room)
Glad you do. Thanks for the kind review.
Merlins beard this story is drawing me in further and I still have more questions than answers. So Sev and Lilly are one couple maybe............and I agree with The Grey Lady, Hermione is already too far in her esteem for Sev.......quick little jig of glee..........can't wait for moreSavine x
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Enchanted Tower Room)
Ok, I’ll admit I’m glad to hear that. Thank you. I’ll be sending the next chap to my beta this week – possibly tom. When she’s feeling well she’s quick – too quick sometimes. So I should post again fairly soon.
Response from savine_snape (Reviewer)
Thanks look forward to an update.savine
Thanks for the update! =)

You're very welcome.
Hmmm... wonder who the six couples are - oh, well I guess one would be Sev and Lily... ok, wondering who the five other couples are lol :)
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Enchanted Tower Room)
In nearly 900 years or so, the Grey Lady has managed to keep all but 5 couples out of the Tower. (between you and me it would be fun to speculate...) but unfortunately, I'm not adding in that info yet. (Tell you what - I'll let you name a pair. Response from Mazzy (Reviewer)
Hee hee.. speculation might be fun - everyone has their own favorites after all. 900 years is a long time to think back.I could imagine Lucius dragging Narcissa in there, but at the same time, I'm sure she went freely into his arms. Lily and James would be fun, except that Lily has already seen the magic of the tower with Sev so I doubt she'd go in again. I think you're on the right track with letting everyone draw their own conclusions :)
Well now we know why the room was made and what will happen. But what will Hermione do with this knowlege? If any thing? And does this mean Severus didn't stop going to the room because he wants to find his soul-mate or one true love? Yes you have explain alot but now I have even more. Cool lol Thank you for another awesome chapter.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Enchanted Tower Room)
Yes, I thought it time to divulge that info on everyone – add some meat to the story. Hermione now has questions, and in true form – she will go to the library and try to read about it – of course… Severus has his reasons for continuing to go; maybe it’s for the memories… but it’s also the tower. I’ll explain that later…
Ah, that explains a lot. A compelling read.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Enchanted Tower Room)
Thank you. Thus the purpose of the chapter! I thought it time to explain a few things...
Beguiling chapter! Thanks.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Enchanted Tower Room)
Thank you.
Thanks for the quality lemons. I hope we find out more about the nature of the room and how it came to be as it is. I'm looking forward to the next update. Thanks!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Enchanted Tower Room)
You are quite welcome. I'm glad you've enjoyed the lemons...
