Hermione finds a mysterious piece of self-writing parchment in Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes that writes: Tell me your deepest desire. Thinking it’s a trick, she says, “I wish to see my soul mate?” and she suddenly finds herself at Severus’ feet.
This is my response to the Potter_Place Summer 2007 Prompt – #23
The warnings I have listed for this chapter are implied. I chose the rating of MA (NC-17) due to the story’s overall content.

I love to write. A dreamer, a creator and filled with wonder, imagination and life. Sometimes I get lost in the other worlds I've read and in some I create. It's all good, I’m in good company.

“Our imagination flies -- we are its shadow on the earth.”― Vladimir Nabokov

Reviews for The Self-Writing Parchment
Love it!
Her main issue is she doesn't think he likes, let alone wants, her and he thinks he's lost any progress he might have made. Hopefully she'll get good at occulmency quickly so he can start being himself around her when they are alone.
Wonder where she's going to live when school starts again. I doubt she'll be allowed to go to school, even if she is the headmaster's wife. What Severus really ought to do, since some of Hermione's issues are about her being made a throw-away-wife, is to find some books that explain the customs that she, as a muggleborn wouldn't know...
Looking forward to the next!

Thank you!
You’ve a good grasp in the relationship. I’ll address the school thing real soon… and a book she has will shed some light. Plus give Severus some credit, he’s dealing with the brat side of her personality now.
I have been writing chapter’s 10 and 11 together because they are two sides of the same plot twist and my beta has received chapter 10. Altough, there will most likely be the clean up and rechecking delay… It’s written. And 11 is nearly done…
when i saw you had updated, i was equal parts excitement and nerves, remembering where you had left things last time! honestly, this story is so wrenching. i'm having a little trouble with hermione's seeming inability to grasp the dire nature of the situation she is in, how few options they have, and that severus is as trapped as she is. how can she not understand that he is trying his best to make sure she comes out of the situation alive? (well, i guess it doesn't help that he's pretty much a right bastard most of the time, who can't be overly bothered with explanations.)anyway. you are the Queen of the Cliffie!* much to my pleasure/dismay. (i may have to go take some nerve tonic now so that i will be able to sleep tonight.)(*look, your brilliance inspired the use of UPPERCASE to make your title official.)
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thanks for the title – I think. I know it seems a bit nervy… but she will be coming around to things real soon. I promise you. Chapter 10 and 11 are nearly written; in fact, 11 is far enough along, I sent 10 to my beta. Course there is likely to be much clean up before it will be presentable. Sorry about the waiting… But 10 and 11 are two sides of the same plot twist. Also, yes, after this Severus will tone down a bit (in private), and Hermione will come to grips… (somewhat) but I don’t want to spoil too much. Look for a tall, dark friend to appear… I’m sorry about your nerves though.
Response from kittylefish (Reviewer)
well, i'm a big girl and i guess i knew what i was getting into when i started with this story, or at least after the first chapter. my nerves will just have to handle it! and now i know that perhaps soon they will get a bit of a reprieve, if severus tones down at least a bit, in private, and hermione comes to grips even somewhat!and the waiting is made easier since i know that you are toiling away on the next!
I'm so thrilled to have another chapter to read. It just keeps getting more and more intense!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you. It will be a bit before I can get the next one up (sorry!) but I have to write two chapters at once because of what's going to happen - and the timing has to read right because the action has to be really fast... But hopefully I can pull this off... Hope you don't mind?
Excellent story so far -- wanted to smack Draco -- hard! -- in this most recent chapter. I am looking forward to reading more!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you very much. I appreciate the support.
It's too dark to read the entire story to end here. I would like to read this story but I need some hope. You've done so much work and put so much into this plot to let it go unfinished. Please add more so that I can dig into this tale.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Oh there is more on this story, but since beta, well, RL happened and she can’t continue. So even though I’m still working on it, and I still have my continuity and Britpicker/alpha reader on board, no beta. Most likely when I update it will be on ff net. Sorry. But I appreciate your reading and for the review.

(ps. There are some very dramatic turn arounds and reveals in the next few chapters. And yes, Voldemort loses, light overcomes darkness and some of the shadows shift, those in the between reveal themselves. I like happy endings.)
you are doing a marvellous job here.Comparing the Death Eaters to Nazis and Voldemort to Hitler was something that came across me the first time I read about them.Interesting that you should feel the same. The scene where you let Draco find out about what was going on in his own house, or in the lower department of it was just thrilling.I think I would have vomited. To find so much cruelty, guilt and filth in ones own family. That must be shocking. You really named one of the relatives "Mengele", just a namesake, or did you want that man to live there? So Cillian is in love with Hermione.oh, I am so far behind with reading. But there was a time, when I wasn't sure if you wouldn't abandon your story. maybe that's why I stopped reading.I shall go back to the start and catch up. It is a very interesting story you weave here.Have fun! and thank you for sharing!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you very much.
I did, of course, see similarities between Voldemort’s and the Death Eaters hate of the Muggles and Muggle-born to Hitler’s and his SS’s hate of the Jews. The percussions and arrests of the Muggle-borns and half-bloods in book seven even more so, and when I started writing this story I decided to draw even more parallels to the SS and Hitler and some of their acts.
I meant it to be chilling, scary and unsettling. Hermione has been trying to get Draco to see the wrongs being done, so yes, when he saw firsthand the rooms in his dungeons, and sees firsthand the actions of those he’s supposed to be emulating, it’s been hard on him.
I’d have thought I’d walked into a very bad B-movie horror set. However, if it was real I think I’d have reacted the same.
Do you really think that Lucius and Narcissa are doing these things? Or are they allowing it because they have no choice? Now, Bellatrix, yes, I could see her participating just for the kicks of it, and possibly her husband (he did marry the barmy witch), but Lucius and Narcissa might not be doing all that you think. Also, the Dark Lord has taken over the manor – it’s HIS home now. Wormtail, Greyback and a few Death Eaters who live in shanty homes have moved into the guest rooms – Voldemort’s pinions. They are not relatives, they are the Death Eater brethren.
I used the name Mengele on purpose. I’m not sure if he lives there or not, but he is running whatever is going on in the dungeons.
Cillian is in love, but you’ve missed a few comments he’s made if you think he loves Hermione.
He likes her and she is his best mate’s girl. I’ve said this many times, Cillian was written on the same mold as Severus; IF Severus had grown up in a larger wealthy family – you’d have Cillian. There share many attributes, characteristics and even the same expressions, only Cillian smiles more, and when he lets his guard down he’s more easy going. But don’t kid yourself, he’s done things too, he has those dark moments, and yet he is a protector at heart.
I solemnly swear that I will NOT abandon this fic, or either of my others. In fact I’m several chapters ahead of you and still happily typing away – okay that seems scary; I am writing 3 WIPs at the same time. (I am three ahead of you on S-WP, four on P-TB, and three on CoMWT. In fact I just went over my outline for P-TB and there is an end in sight! S-WP has a ways to go, and CoMWT I’m writing the HPB year. But I’m not going to abandon any of them. You have my word. Even if I have to figure out how to post it on my LJ… nah, I’m here for the duration. lol
I’m delighted that you are enjoying my story and yes, this one has many subplots and threads that I have yet to start weaving together (actually I am from my perspective, you’ll see…) and drawing everything into the messy plait I’ve got in my head. A lot of those little previews and hints will come back and tie in, I promise.
Thank you very much for reading and sticking with me. I do appreciate the review and hope you get another chapter posted real soon. Happy holidays to you and yours. bea~
Am decidedly glad it says there is another chapter en-queue ;-) Thanks a mill!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Yep, there is but it may take awhile, I'm like 25 in queue. You're most welcome, thank you for reading and for the review.
Well, when is the next chapter to come? I don't mind for the commas... I got addicted to your story, and I can hardly wait...
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
I'm tryin' Really I am... I wanna post - really I do! It's comin'! I'm really tryin'...
terrific update. thanks and smoochies
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you very much. You are most welcome.
This is the best fan fic I have read in a long time. I hope you write an ypdate soon!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Wow, what a compliment! Thank you. My beta has my next chapter… I have chap 9 ready for her…
Great story, Very invovling. Loved the kissing scene. Can't wait to see what happens.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you. I very happy you like it... I can't wait to tell you what happens next...
*swoons and dies in bliss* Wow! That was TEH KISS!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Sorry to disappoint - but no... it's a teaser... This was primal reaction, mutual responce. Next time he'll be ready for her! But I'm glad you liked this one!
Yum yum. Sorry babes, I thought I had already left a review for this brill story. The kissing scene had me scrolling down slowly and holding my breath to try and prolong it. And him in the scud too, ( Northern English for nude......Snape speak) in the shower. Bad boy. I'll keep checking on here for updates as t'other site seems to be a few chapters behind. Best wishes, Love Ali xxxx.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you! You are not the first to tell me you’ve come over to TPP to follow this… LOL (I hope the other site doesn't get mad at me...)
Yes, well, as for the shower… needing help bathing – there is more to it than that… there is altruistic reasons as well as expectations that have to be met… But yes, Snape’s not exactly a good boy is he?
Good chapter. It's nice to see them getting somewhere and it's making me all the more curious about that parchment. Wormtail being back is bothering me. He freaked me out waaay too much earlier. And Draco is suck an ass:-p lol.Keep updating!
Response from missbluejuju (Reviewer)
Umm, that should obviously be "Draco is such an ass". I just got the most disturbing mental picture...ugh.Ha ha.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
LOL yes, um…
Thank you for your review. Yes, the parchment…
Wormtail – well, he’s a rat, lecherous and obviously Voldemort wants he there.
Draco is just being himself. Six years of thinking about Hermione only one way – he’s not going to change overnight.
I have several chapters outlined, two in works, tow ready for my beta and she’s reading one of them… patience. I think I’ll keep going on this one. I was afraid that readers would lose interest – it’s going to be my longest story to date. Hope you stick with me?
I like how Hermione keeps moving towards him, and taking up the entire bed while asleep, and how Severus gave in to it at the end, changing which side of the bed he slept on to accomidate her habits (and prevent her from injuring him).
She's finally figured out how to work the coin without a wand, but will anyone notice, or believe her...or be able to make sense of her garbled messages? ^_~
Snape showed a lot of trust by letting her use his wand. I wonder how he got injured (Nagini?), and why-other than being let out of his cage-Wormtail is so smug.
That kiss was quite intense. ^_^ Although it's not ideal circumstances, it looks like they will both be willing parties. They both will have to be careful not to show how much they are enjoying following the Dark Lord's orders... There be spies everywhere. ^_^
Still love Peren. Narcissa would have a cow to find out that her elf likes the captive! *hugs Peren*
Looking forward to your next installment.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you… Yes, he switched sides to the bed although he’s being altruistic at this point.
The coin… can’t say yet…
The wand – necessary, but still he was standing fairly close. Had Hermione tried anything he’d have hexed her before she could get the spell out – Snape can do wandless magic. Besides, he knows her better than she knows him. The wound was a deep gash, cut across his front and around his side – a magical cut. Not the snake.
Peren, yes, well pay attention to what she says…
This is my first time reading a WIP! The suspense is terrible, but I love it anyway. I truly love your characterizations, I think they're detailed and complex, and I like how reactions aren't explained to death. Let the audience stew a little bit, right? I think that's what makes your Draco so great. Can't wait for the next bit. Oh, and the bathroom scene? VERY hot. I was sitting here, bundled up in my apartment, and I had to get up and turn on a fan when I finished reading.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Oh, wow… really? And I thought I was being tame!
I’m very glad you are enjoying the story. Replies like this make me so glad Southern_Withch_69 came onboard and has stuck with me on it.
She has my next chap – so as soon as she fixes my numerable mistakes… and I fix those so that she can actually do a second clean up…. I’ll post. I promise!
It was a very heated kiss. I'm glad Severus really questions this situation and his feelings. It makes the situation more balanced, even if Hermione isn't conscious of it.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
No. she is still holding onto hope of escape and he isn’t really opening up to her yet… yet. They are both dealing with this with the information they have… and still keeping some level of denial.
Hooray! Some "action"! Loved it. I am super eager to read more.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Working on that... There is more on my thumbdrive... and my beta has me next chapter already.
Interesting. Nobody in that house has any clue just how attracted the two of them are to each other--including the two of them.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
No one but a jealous Rat and an apprentice that doesn’t like having her around. That and Snape is good at hiding his emotions from others. He’s still kind snarky and cold towards her when Draco is around.
Whoa...best kiss ever read. I actually read that bit about three or four times, I've got goosebumps!
Yay for chemistry!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Wow, thank you! I was afraid that I didn’t give enough explanation for the kiss… the timing and all. But if it works that well… I’m glad I left it in…
i was so excited to see you had updated! this chapter made me so sad. they are both in such an untenable position. this time you really made me feel for severus's situation, because he's also being forced into something he didn't choose. not that it wasn't clear before, but somehow i felt it more this time. you are developing their relationship very skillfully in my opinion. (oh, and i take back being worried for draco because he's being too mean again.)
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
I’m sorry to make you sad… Yes, seems like it’s an untenable position doesn’t it? First the parchment, then the Dark Lord, and believe it or not Narcissa too… and others. Oops, shouldn’t have said that. As for Draco – old habits die hard, I suppose. Don’t worry things between these three have a long way to go…
Response from kittylefish (Reviewer)
hmm. now i'll be pondering the whole narcissa thing. and others. hmm. i guess i just have to be patient and wait for all to become clear in its own time. *sighs* *ponders some more* *sighs again*
I really did like that chapter. The interactions were beautifully written.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you. I appreciate the compliment.
NO! I'm done reading all the posted chapters!! Now I have to wait like everyone else for the next chapter. But anyway, lovely chapter, as usual. I like how they were able to group together without being considered "rebels." I really love this story so far...keep up the wonderful work!! Update again soon!~Jen
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)

Great chapter. I like how some of this story aligns with Deathly Hallows...did you mean for that? Anyway, I loved Draco's rant in this chapter too. Wonderful job!~Jen

Yes, as the story progresses you will see tangents with DH, as a time reference and since this takes place during the same time frames. Only things are different, so there are differences. Thank you for the review.
