Hermione finds a mysterious piece of self-writing parchment in Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes that writes: Tell me your deepest desire. Thinking it’s a trick, she says, “I wish to see my soul mate?” and she suddenly finds herself at Severus’ feet.
This is my response to the Potter_Place Summer 2007 Prompt – #23
The warnings I have listed for this chapter are implied. I chose the rating of MA (NC-17) due to the story’s overall content.

I love to write. A dreamer, a creator and filled with wonder, imagination and life. Sometimes I get lost in the other worlds I've read and in some I create. It's all good, I’m in good company.

Reviews for The Self-Writing Parchment
10 points to your house for a lovely DE wedding complete with Narcissa the wedding planner and Voldypants standing in as the father of the bride. ((shivers)) It was seriously creepy that Voldy gave Hermione her "dream" wedding. EwwwwWill Hermione get to keep Peren? I hope she can come to Hogwarts too. That little elf is growing on me. I had to laugh at Severus' POV at the end of the chapter. He was all bent out of shape about how much her dress revealed and then they had sex in front of a 2 way mirror? Who was watching I wonder? Will voldy ask SS to get HG preggers? Were the diamonds from Narcissa a gift or a loan?
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
I won Gryffindor 10 points! Whoo whoo!Yep, Hermione had the wedding of Narcissa's dreams, and Voldy gave her away. ((me shivered over that one too)) It is hinted that the 'wedding party' that escourted the couple to the 'bridal suite' was watching. You'll see tow of the 'ladies' reactions later during Occlumency lessons... oops. How did you like the 'talk' Voldy had with Hermione after - ((creepy - scary))You'll see Peren again, and again...Yep, Severus was a little bent out of shape over the dress! Keep in mind - it's red!! and no, he didn't like the two-way mirror, but only hinted to Hermione about it. The diamonds and diamond hair pins were not put back on before Hermione left the room. It can be assumed that a house-elf returned them to Narcissa. They were not a gift. Ther is a wedding gift - but you'll have to read on to see what it is.

I noticed in this chapter Severus calls her Hermione on a regular basis. It appears the splinching has caused a thaw in their relationship. I am confused about her conversation with Voldy. Why in heavens name would he expect to have her obedience? I would have thought her to be openly defiant? It was like she and Voldy had some sort of relationship going on?? Is cillian gay? He did find her wedding gown after all!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Severus is starting to thaw a bit, and he was deeply concerned about her - truth is she is getting to him.In the conversation with Voldemort, he is charasmatic, even in his curent state and powerful. Hermione is terrified of him. Stuck wearing tha collar (necklace) in the Dark Lord's lair - she is feeling overwhelmed. She could run - but to where? She cannot Apparate, and who knows how many DE's are about in the house. Furthur more, Voldy is being nice! Wouldn't that freak you out? He thinks he had Hermione sufficiently 'chokeholded.' He wants her to see him as benevolent toward her. It's a tactic. No, Cillian isn't gay. He's a bit of a lad - or ladies man - and was flirting with the shop assistant in the back of the shop. She showed him the robes. Once Hermione tried it on, Cillian knew a winner when he sees it. (So did Draco.)Nope, Cillian has a love interest... I mentioned her already.Loved your review. I'll never tell you to not type what you honestly think - I enjoy your comments too much. Ask away. But keep in mind - I just might answer you - or not.
Response from MollysSister (Reviewer)
Ohhhhh so she was in Voldy's thrall so to speak. Okay that makes sense. I like Cillian. I hope you don't kill him off although he seems like a vulnerable character.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Cillian is very much how I see Severus if Severus had grown up in a loving and wealthy home. They are the same height and build with different eye color and hair. Many of Cillian's expressons when he's angry or challenged are the same as I use for Snape. True, Cillian's sister Belladona is a piece of work, very much like Bellatrix, but Cillian is more likable. However, he likes to fight & duel, is a capable wizard, and Severus trusts him - explicitly. I have plans for Cillian and need him for the duration. At least until the final battle. (Besides, Travers and Rowle backed down when Cillian faced off with them. They certainly weren't afraid of Draco. And Crabbe and Goyle had backed off to 'watch'. hint: Cillian could have taken them on, much like I assume Severus had learned how to take on Potter and Black.)

Interesting chapter. I thought the tea and the Halloween party were very well-written and quite believable. Wonderful job. Keep up the fantastic work!! And, of course, update again soon. LOL! ~Jen

Thank you very much, Jen. I really appreciate the compliment, it jsut makes me warm fuzzy and smile like a crazy when you say that. I have the next chapter nearly ready for my beta. Thank you for the review. Hugs~bea
I am full of questions about Hermione going back to Hogwarts. How can that be a safe place to keep a prisinor? Will she have a wand? The splinching was quite gross as I am sure you intended. I liked the quick conversation with Remus and Tonks. Makes me feel like Snape may still have some support with the Order

, I don't want to spoil anything. Snape will want to keep Hermione with him. That part will be explained, I promise. No she will only be allowed a wand while in class and only for spellwork lessons like Charms and Transfiguration. Yes, I'm sorry. The splinching was really gross, but I tried to make it believable, since I'd planned on splinching her in half! I hope I didn't gross you out too much. As to the other - yes. Remus - not yet. Tonks a little. But there is someone.Thank you very much for the review.bea

I give you full permission to tell me to hold my horses when I spout of half a million questions in my reviews. I get so wrapped up in the story and hyper. Honestly I do NOT want to be spoiled. I seldom read other reviews just in case someone spotted something I missed. part of the fun in the unfolding of the story. I liked the splinching stuff. They always seem to caution against it and this is why. Scary stuff! I am off to the next chapter.

I am going to leap into assumption and say Hermione's disapperation did not work. I am really impressed at her doing wandless magic. Now if only her maturity would increase at such an impressive rate!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Nope, you are right. She'll be practicing wandless magic again, but not for a while. I'm still trying to keep her as an 17 year old girl, who's under diress, not in control of her life and coping with a lot. Yes, she's acting like a dependant, pouty girl, but things will get better.

Looks to me like Hermione's going to have to play a smaller role in things (D.A.) than either she (or Neville) would prefer. If she ditches Cillian, not only is she in danger without her bodyguard from the new 'staff members', Slyternins and the like, but Cillian and Snape are in danger for not following orders (same deal with Draco, but looks like it's to a lesser degree). But if Cillian goes with her to the 'study groups' then not only is a Death Eater going to see exactly who's participating but what they're working on... Think she'll have to only attend the more benign meetings and act in a more advisory role, so as to not draw too much attention their way. Plus, she's not allowed her wand, so she can't actually do too much outside of class anyway...Love this fic! Always glad to see that a new chapter has been posted.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you for the review. So you think that she is going to have a smaller role in the DA? huh Teeehhehehe maybe, maybe not. Yes, as in canon Neville, Ginny and Luna are leading the DA, but I've a role for Hermione too. You'll see. Yes, If Hermione ditches Cillian she is vuneralble, but she isn't ever alone, so far. Only Draco has 'orders' from the Dark Lord to 'befriend' her. Cillian was 'asked' to keep an eye on Hermione as a favor from Severus. Not the same thing. If Hermione ditches Cillian she will be in trouble from Severus. Yes, if he goes to the 'meetings' yes, he will see what they are doing. But what they are doing so far will be learning Charms. No, big harm. Don't worry too much, things will be revealed in regards to Cillian...

Dumbledore's Study Group?
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Neville's study group is a cover for Dumbledore's Army to meet under logical and probable cover. That's all.

I'm always so excited when you post a new Chapter!! It'll definitely be interesting to find out how Cillian reacts once he relizes what Hermione is actually doing.... Hope to read more soon!!

Geeze, thank you. You don't think Cillian and Severus don't have a clue?
Response from baseballbabe122 (Reviewer)
...I'd imagine he knows, but from the writing it just doesn't seem clear if he does or doesn't. And Snape's been quite... Snape-ish recently it seems. Getting around the Carrows, I suspect will be something to work through, tho. I mean, they don't seem like they're going to obey Snape 100%. But I guess we'll see. :)

He simply thought he'd won her over to 'the program' not realizing she was only 'getting along' because she had to and Snape asked her too. So now he's going to have to actually work at it! duh. thank you so much for the compliment.

I was so happy when I see that new chapter is added. Wery good writen ordynary life in Hogwarts and life off people in there . I think that apparance of Umbrige will not benefit Hermione and that will be start of truble. Pleas write and update fester because I can whait for more.

Thank you very much! Nope Hogwarts is much darker and unsettling place... Nope, Umbridge is not a nice witch...I'll do my best, but you know, I have to get it down how I want it to be - not a rushed mess.

yay! I love this story. I liked that you included Hannah, maybe we will see some sparks with her and Neville. the bits with Hermione and her friends starting a "study group" was great I just wish there had been more progress made in Severus and Hermiones relationship. oh well next chapter!

Thank you and you're welcome. Yes, I needed a Hufflepuff pureblood, an she's perfect! There will be more between Severus and Hermione, but he's been dealing with a lot of bull lately - and I'm letting you see how things at Hogwats is so much different.

Yes! An Update! I also thought Hannah Abbott was a pureblood or at least from a pureblood line. If I recall correctly wasn't Abbott one of the names Harry/Hermione found on the tombstones at Godric's Hallow (DH)?Love how Hermione described her previous extra curricular activities at Hogwarts to Cillian. He still doesn't seem to have a clue what she is capable of.I found myself wanting to cry for Hermione she seems surrounded by the enemy and I am not so sure that Neville needs to be worrying about Hannah cracking under pressure as much as he needs to worry about Hermione. You are showing a side of Neville that is rarely shown in other fics. Nice character development turning Neville into the gallant brave young hero. I am very curious what you are going to do with Darco and where his true loyalties lay, or if he is boardering on a change of heart after being with Hermione for so long?
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
That's why I put that in the notes, there are several different statements regarding her 'blood status.' BUt I needed a pureblood Hufflepuff.Hermione is surrounded by the enemy, on several sides, but she has friends... She isn't going to crack, she's made of stiffer stuff than that.I adore Neville, and I am using everything I could dig out of DH and some of how he's shown in OoTP. Nev is ahero, and he comes into his own in book 7 and in this fic. My take on Draco also comes from DH and how he behaves when we see him... He is going to open up soon. I have plans for/ with him.Thank you for the reveiw!

aack! poor hermione - what a diffcult position she is in. i wish she wouldn't fight against cillian so much when he's only trying to protect her, but i can see how difficult it would be for her to trust him, and how frustrated she must be with everything. i don't feel sorry for draco at the moment - i don't mind making him work a little harder for her trust, after everything they've been through. i appreciate that severus is unfazed by it all. i do worry about the whole thing with restarting the da, though, just because she is on such precarious ground already. but - i was so excited to see that you had updated, and it was just as exciting as ever!

Yes, she's in a bit deep. and I can't see her just sitting back on her wand - or manyof the students either.... so yes, things get touchy... But Cillian is going to be there, Draco, and Severus... I've got plans.

I keep re-reading this story, hoping you will finish it one day. I love your writing in general, but this story is something special - the details, the characters (I love Draco so much in this I almost want something to happen between her and him. But at the same time not, beacuse Snape and Hermione has to have a happy ending). Hopefully with this review you will get some inspiration to continue writing!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
I have been spending time lately on this - that is to say I've picked up my laptop and am going over all my notes and adjusting my outline. I really have a huge scale 'second half' of this if I"m going to pull it all together and tie in all my 'threads'But I am going to finsih it, but most likely it will be posted on ff,net (less restrictions) and I don't have a beta for this on. Thank you for reading and for the review.
wow -- amazing story! I like how you've developped the relationship between Severus & Hermione, and brought in side-characters that are slowly changing, too (Draco, Cillian, etc). I also like how you've kept the Dark Lord aloof and evil, and that you've backed up his 'dark side' with examples (the experimentation, his treatment of the Malfoys, the breeding program and Ministry infiltration), things we see (instead of them simply being mentioned).I admit, I am confused why the shell necklace/jewelery is being brought up repeatedly when it isn't doing its job -- Hermione is still apparating (wandless), it is not deflecting Belinda's hexes/etc, and house elves can defeat its magic. For all the hype in prev chapters, I didn't feel it was a very convincing ploy in the recent chapters that dealt with the ball. This also reflects on Severus' abilities -- is he simply 'not good' at protection spells? (He was a Dark Arts instructor in canon -- and as a potion-brewer you've described him earlier in the story as focusing on antidotes; would not his extensive skills also lend to him knowing how to cast protective spells to repel or deflect hexes/curses/jinxes?) This has been my biggest head-banging plot-hole; and I think the only reason it bothers me so much is because of how much I'm REALLY enjoying the rest of it (a huge compliment to you!!). :)Thank you for sharing the story so far, and I really look forward to reading more -- and seeing what else is happening with that self-writing parchment. I'm sure the last two 'wishes/desires' are important to the plot and can't wait to see how you work them in.Also, my heart goes out to Hermione & Severus for what he had to do recently at the revel. I can't even imagine how hard that would be to endure in a relationship.Kudos to you, happy writing!--mm
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
I’m delighted that you are enjoying my characters, and my OC’s. Yes, I’ve painted the Dark Lord as evil and dark souled. He’d horrible and allows atrocities.
Okay, the Skrewt jewelry: This is pointed out in the story, but I forget which chapter Severus explains it, so here – it’s protection but cannot stop spells from hitting her. It’s not a shield – they absorb some of the spells impact so that they don’t do horrible harm to her. If the intent of the spell is strong enough the spell will do what it is meant to - but not with the full force of the determination of the caster. (Spells = intent + determination + direction to a target or subject) Say if Alecto is intent to harm Hermione, desires to cast a nasty curse and determined enough to cast it strongly, at Hermione – it will hit, but the shells will absorb some or a lot of the impact of the magic.
In other words: it’s a buffer. The shell shards absorb some of the impact, shield off the worst of the hex/curse/jinx. So Hermione isn’t as badly hurt as she might have been. Amycus and Alecto don’t pull back when hexing/cursing/jinxing Hermione – they go full out, full boil, full hatred. Severus knows they will and has given her a level of protection so she’s not mortally wounded or severely maimed by them. Do you understand now?
I’m very careful about the Apparition when she’s wearing the jewelry – If Severus has Apparated with her and hasn’t reactivated the jewelry she can Apparate. It’s one of those bits you have to pay attention to: did he or did he not reactivate the Anti-Apparition spells on the jewelry? If yes, his lack of trust is very disappointing to Hermione, not just the stinging sensation of the activation, which hurts too.
Why does he 'forget to activate it'? - it's not forgetfullness. Severus has developed a certain level of trust in regards to Hermione. He knows she loves him, is or has fallen in love with him, and therefore he has allowed himself to trust her. He knows she trusts him, relies on him and turns to him when she’s in need – so he feels that she will not disobey and leave him, because if she did he’d be punished. He’s fueled her thought that he’s be killed if she did, and he knows she wants him to live. So, on occasion he doesn’t activate the jewelry. It allows her to Apparate to him if need be.
On that same side, Hermione isn’t as conscious as to when Severus activates it or not. In fact she’s hurt when he does, not just the sharply tingling vibration sensation that physically hurts her, but that he doesn’t trust her, that he shows that he isn’t trusting her and that really hurts her feelings. She needs his trust, his respect and kindness so very much, relies on it, will do anything to keep it. (He can also make the tingling happen as a reminder of their inhibiting her to Apparate. Quite Slytherin of him, eh?)
You are so very welcome for the story! I’m more than happy to be able to share my story and have a place to post it.
I love getting reviews, answer every one I get, because it makes this personal in a way. I'm not begging for reviews, I'm happy knowing it's read, but every comment and review makes me smile and feel warm-fuzzy.
I have more of the story coming, and have been busy tying.
The last two wishes will come up, but Hermione is frightened of the parchment and is afraid to use it for now.
Yes, that was a bad thing, being forced into the impregnation plan, but in the end it will help them in their resolve to defeat the Dark Lord. To help Harry win. You’ll see. It’s affect Draco and Cillian too.
Thank you for reading and for the review. Hope you like what comes…
