Hermione finds a mysterious piece of self-writing parchment in Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes that writes: Tell me your deepest desire. Thinking it’s a trick, she says, “I wish to see my soul mate?” and she suddenly finds herself at Severus’ feet.
This is my response to the Potter_Place Summer 2007 Prompt – #23
The warnings I have listed for this chapter are implied. I chose the rating of MA (NC-17) due to the story’s overall content.

I love to write. A dreamer, a creator and filled with wonder, imagination and life. Sometimes I get lost in the other worlds I've read and in some I create. It's all good, I’m in good company.
“Imagination does not become great until human beings, given the courage and the strength, use it to create.”― Maria Montessori
“Our imagination flies -- we are its shadow on the earth.”― Vladimir Nabokov
“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions.”― Albert Einstein
“Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were, but without it we go nowhere.” ― Carl Sagan

Excellent chapters, married now isn't a shocker but Severus as Headmaster is another matter all together.Could prove to be a very interesting year for them all.Great job!

Thank you very much. Severus as Headmaster a shocker? He was Headmaster in DH.

Awwww, Peren is so sweet. I got a little teary when I read her Christmas note to Hermione.Severus' gift of the book, The Magike and Dweomercraft of Myrddin of Britanniae, is very precious, and I wonder if there was some further reason beyond the fact that Hermione loved books that led him to choose this particular book? Being that it is a very old book on ancient charms and transfigurations written in Anglo-Saxon runes and old English, could she learn something from long ago (and forgotten by most of today's witches and wizards) that she can use to help her protect her husband and her friends and do harm to the Dark Lord's plans? Hummmmm. Stranger things have happened...I do believe Hermione is making progress in widening the cracks in Cillian's armor. Her impressive demonstration of her Occlumency skills and breaking the news that Voldemort was a half-blood orphan seems to have hit a weak spot. It'll probably take more to push him over the edge, but I think it will happen. Dianne was not happy to find out that students at Hogwarts were being tortured or hear from Hermione that Cillian would have to take a pure-blood wife and give the Dark Lord more pure-blood babies to raise up as new members of his Death Eaters. I think she will begin questioning Cillian more and more as time goes on.Severus' idea to take Hermione out for the day was a wonderful thing to do. Yes, she did need new clothes, but more than that she needed to spend time with him only. And now it seems the Dark Lord is angry about something or someone. I know that Severus was summoned that morning, and I hope it is not Severus with whom he is so angry.Thank you for another great chapter!!! As always. Beth

Yes, Peren is a fun character to write and it’s good for Hermione to have someone like her.
Severus’ gift – I had intended for it to be a valuable book, a keepsake. What part it may play is yet to be seen. But it is the about and containing the magic of Merlin.
Yes, Hermione is making progress, but Cillian is resolute in his need to keep alive, and to protect Dianne and her family. That’s the catch, he can’t put himself in jeopardy of getting killed. But time will tell, he’s starting to see and to have … hints.
No, Dianne is very upset at the pronouncement of the punishments. And who would want the man they love to have to be married to another – even one who is considered more suitable because of her blood.
I’m delighted that you enjoyed their excursion together. Hermione really needed the time out and to be alone with him in a relaxing atmosphere.
When is the Dark Lord not angry about something? lol But you’ll find out soon enough why Severus was summoned.
Thank you for the review, sweetie. I hope you have a wonderful week ahead of you. Thank you for reading and once again for a lovely review.

I'm not surprised to see Hermione a bit broken at this point. You've put her through more than a bit, yes? The thing that I like is her persistence regardless - she's still Hermione. Cillian is their weak link and I can understand Severus' need to have him fully with them, but I still don't trust him not to break under pressure. He reminds me a bit of Peter in some respects.
I know he has reason to be wary and he's shown himself to be a much better man, but he still worries me. Which is probably rather your point, lol! Thank you for such a thoughtful update.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
The thing is, I don't want her to be broken. I know she's been through so much and has had to stand up to a lot, but she has Severus to lean on and her friends, as well as, believe it or not, Draco and Cillian in a way.
You see Cillian as a weak link, huh? Interesting. Yes, Severus wants him fully with them, and it will be good to have him on the right side. Interesting you've compared him to Peter, though. Right now, I've shown you the pressures he's under, how much he has at stake, keeping his 'hide intact' so to speak. Sure Dianne could leave the island and get stuff for her parents, but they are prisoners. And there is more insight to him in the next 2 chapters.
But like Severus, he has a dark side, and he’s loyal. Problem is who he’s loyal to isn’t what he thought he was… Thank you for reading and for the review. I hope you like what comes next.

I have every faith in you as a writer to see Hermione to the other side of this with her spirit intact. I've been following your stories for quite a while and you've never disappointed.
As for Cillian and the Peter comparison - it's only the fact that both of them have based their past decisions on fear. The difference is that Cillian's fear is for others and not himself and that is all the difference in the world. I'm looking forward to the next two chapters now - I'm a sucker for good back story, lol! Thank you again for such a wonderful tale.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
You are most welcome. I'm really flattered by your faith in me and that you are enjoying my story so much. It's comments like that that keep me going. As for comparisons, I like your viewpoint. Really well made. I admit to having based Cillian on Severus – a Severus who came from a good home, with brothers 2 and a sister, and relatives, Christmas presents, big house, money, and friends. But they are both avid readers, although you’ve seen Cillian grumbling to Hermione about the time spent in the library, its lighthearted jibing. He’s actually loving it. and he gets to miss all the stuff he doesn’t want to do that those outside the castle have to. raids.
Some back story: Cillian Gwynek - approx 4 ½ -5 years younger than Snape, in love with Dianne Henley (her parents are Muggles) He has brown eyes, brown curly hair, very much like a warm happy Snape and he’s more affable. (Think Rufus Sewell – and the woman with him in the banner is Dianne) When angry – he’s very much like an angry Snape – I use Snape-ism-expressions frequently when typing Cillian if he’d mad, unhappy, or serious. When Severus started teaching, Cillian decided they were going to be friends and imposed himself on Severus until he caved in. They talked about teaching, classes, girls and guys tuff. Cillian helped Severus with his early ‘girl problems’ and they remained friends even after Cillian left school. Cillian is defiant in many way, but covertly and quietly – not usually directly – except he’s hiding and supporting Dianne and her parents. Severus’ POV: Of all his friends and acquaintances, Cillian had remained a true and trustworthy friend. He was one wizard that Severus could always confide in when they were younger, and the friendship between the men still stood on those grounds.
Jan, 9,1960 – Snape born
22nd of December, 1964 – Cillian Gwynek born – Dec of 1975 he is 11 but would start in the following September 1976 (like Hermione did: she was 11 in 1980, but started in 1981)
1971-1978 – Snape attends Hogwarts
1976(-1983) – Cillian begins Hogwarts (Justin is in 4th year)
Sept1, 1980 – Snape starts teaching at Hogwarts, Potions professor and Slytherin Head of House (Cillian is a 5th year and Slytherin Prefect) When he came back, he was my Potions professor and Head of House. I was impressed. Severus was well connected, respected, and obviously knowledgeable since he was hired to teach so soon after leaving Hogwarts. Besides, I thought it a quill in my cap to have my Potions professor and Head of House as a friend. It took a while, but he warmed up to the idea. (chap 23)
1981 – Cillian befriends Severus - Cillian laughed at her. “Nah, I was a nuisance,” he said, closing his book. “I used to go talk to him in his office. He couldn’t get rid of me. Of course it helped that I was a Prefect, but I know he found my presence annoying until he got accustomed to it. He was really easy to relate to. I looked up to him, but I think saw him more as an equal. He’s brilliant, very well read, and really knows a lot about a lot of things. Besides, we actually have a lot in common.” (chap 23)
Capricorn (Severus) and Aquarius (Cillian) work extremely well together, meeting few emotional difficulties. True, their feelings seldom enter into the picture anyway, since the thoughtful and often intellectual content of what they do is of primary importance here. Particularly good at planning out projects and campaigns, they also have the tenacity to see their plans through.
Cilian’s house is in the Cotswolds, a large, ivy and wisteria coved house, surrounded by a walled garden with hawthorns and roses. Dianne liked it – he bought it. Dianne said it reminded her of briar rose, so he called it Briar Cottage. Yeah, he’s smitten. lol
His other house – the one you’ve seen – (previously used by his Grandfather Riorden to hide his mistress) is the Cravenweld House on Cravenweld Island in Derwentwater lake.
Cillian’s parents live in Wicken Burrows, a small village on the edge of the fens mainly consisting of magical families, on outskirts of Wicken, Cambridgeshire, England. Since many of the properties are under the Fidelius, most Muggles don’t know the houses are even there.

Goodness! Thank you, this is quite the treat. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one that has pages of story and character development behind the actual story. I've always needed to know which way a character would respond given a set of circumstances, so I end up fleshing out their histories quite thoroughly.
I wish you happy writing as always.

Oh, Merlin do I have pages! I have a 1998 calender, a chart of the events for the year, a monthly planner and that's for what's comeing up. I have a Outline of Occurances so I can reference it to remembr things. I have Belinda's bio, Cillian's whole family's bio, and Dianne's. I have a list of whats in Hermione's trunk, Severus' books, Hermione's clothes, and all the spells I've invented (as well as the plants and animals and such...) I even have Hermione's school schedule and a full list of Cast of Caracters and diagrams of the floor plans of the houses I've used in this. I have copied every quote from DH that tells me what happened in Hogwarts that year. And I do this for each story I write. Consequences isn't as complicated, but I've got all this for Plight. Well, in Consequences I'm using the books as I go along - Plight is more 'free-form - I'm winging it.DO you do this too. It's nice to know I'm not odd or obsessed in getting it all right. lol

Nice twist with Peren and the tunnels to Hermione's "Hidden Hogwarts". Can't wait to see how her newly organised mind withstands Severus' tests. Should prove beneficial to them both as I have a feeling Hermione will reveal her secret once Severus confides in her...Looking forward to seeing what happens next!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you very much. I thought it would be a god thing and will come in handy later... oops. spoiler. Oh if your good at seeing between the lines, catching little things you'll see the signs before he does. teeheheSo far, she's keeping mum, to see if she can and when she realizes it - then they can be more open with each other. It will also allow her to do more with her friends. lol You'll see. Thank you very much for the review and the pretty stars. Hugs~
I wonder how Hermione will react when Severus confides in her and tells her of his love himself? Glad to see she took what Cilian said to heart and has started calling Severus by his given name when in private.Glad Luna was able to put the trick of Occlumency into layman's for Hermione.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Oh I think it will ... dunno. I haven't written that part yet. lol Yes, she is now one step close to being a true partner for him. One teeny step. Hermione can't close herself off like Severus can, she's too open and caring and it's hard to 'close your mind - empty your emotions.' She isn't like him in that regard. So this made sense to me - memory palaces. Luna seemed the likely one to know about them - so she was a natural. Glad it worked for you. Thank you very much for the review and the pretty stars. Hugs~

Oh, it haunts her dreams....
First off all I love this story . Each chapter is pure pleasure and I can wait the day to come to read next . At first it hurts because off Hermione suffering , but I just love to see the relationship and fillings between them grown .
I can t forget the parchment(his role in all this ) , and notably the message that Severus is send off Hermione condition when she was ill to unknown person . I think it is either McGonnagal
or Lupin as it is now that Severus is still with the Order .
Hermione will have a hard and tiring year at school but with big help from Severus , Cillian and Draco . I think Ginny , Luna and Nevill will also help when and if they learn the circumstances
( perhaps in the Room of the requiarements ). I expect that Hermione will divulge Severus all of treat from
Voldemort . I also wonder of reaction of faculty and other student specialy from Grifindor.
I wonder if Hermione will have the chance to let Hary now of circumstances
trow galleon again .
I can wait for more .
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Lora, thank you very much. Your beautifully written reveiw really is appreciated. You have touched on exactly what is going on and have a grasp of the story. The Parchment will reveal itself soon, and the Galleon will be used again. No, Severus did not send his messages to McGonagall (she is used frequently in famdom) or Lupin. Who it is will surprise you then. I'm working on the more part. Thank you again.

Thank you for your prompt response to my review.I will continue wondering yust who it is .I just realize that I compitely forget indicate Peren . The way Draco realize that she is now Hermiones and his scorn at his mother acaunt is teling my that he is in the line of acceptance the finale allegiance .
That was an exciting chapter. Your depiction of Voldemort is so well done.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you very much. I appreciate the compliment. It may seem weird, but Voldemort is actually difficult for me to write.
Oh! I love this chapter!!! All the what if's and could be's; you've written things I've never read or thought about before. Albus manipulating the Potter's and maneuvering baby Harry into the prophecy perfectly. You bring up so many interesting ideas! Harry [the unforgiving twit] is typically bent out of shape ... he doesn't actually know HG shares a bed with Sev yet, does he! Above and beyond writing this chapter, this story, you are writing multiple stories that I am currently reading [and am very lax about reviewing.] Your stories are all individual, no overlapping of plots or ideas and the fact that you are still pushing out new chapters on ALL of them when others have fallen to the wayside, leaving unfinished stories behind ... I just want you to know how fabulous I think you are. Thank you truly!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Darque Heart, thank you. I confess, Ron is a bit Mary Sue for me because those are my opinions. However, I'm glad that you find the ideas interesting. Harry might know more than you think, and there is a 'influence' to his actions - I'll explain later, next chapter. I'm so glad that you are enjoying my stories. I'm deeply flattered by your knid words. I am trying to keep each one individual, but I admit, spells, books, little bits have done corssovers in my stories. But ony occasinally. Hard to keep certain things out. I promise that I will not abandon this or any of my current WIPs. I truly appreciate your kind review. Thank you

Somehow, I think it's going to be a long, ugly school year for Hermione. I don't think the students are going to be anything resembling kind.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Yes, Hogwarts is going to be different, changed and under the Death Eaters control. To use one of my fav quotes from Princess Leia, "The more to tighten your grip, the more star systems(students) will slip through your fingers..." And I sure Severus is well aware and ready... DA DA DA
I just read this all today. It's a very intriguing story line and very well written. I look forward to reading more.

Wow, all of it in one sitting?! *blushes* I'm impressed. I hope you like what I have planned for next...Thank you for the reivew.
Wonderful update! I'm really starting to like Draco a lot, helping Hermione and basically standing up to his father was key. He more than understands what is going on and just needs a way to cross over. Cillian feels that he is between a rock and a hard place which is understandable. He knows better but is too afraid of the what if's. Something has got to push him over the edge. The entire time the Dark Lord was discussing the babies my first thought was Oh NO! Hermione & Severus will have no choice, she will have to become pregnant. What a way to complicate things more. LOL I am really happy with the way you ended this chapter. After all the drama and harsh words they both needed some real affection. I love this story and it amazes me how you keep coming up with such interesting twist's. :-)

I'm glad you're starting to like Draco. He's come a long way and you are absolutely right about him. And you've nailed Cillian's predictiment, too. Something will, have a little faith and I'll get him there. Oh, that was your first thought? That Voldemort, the Dark Lord will want Severus to impregnate Hermione? Really? his Mudblood prisoner?hmmmm I've something in mind and it will really put cillian in a anxiety and 'breathe in a paper sack' phase. But oh yes, I plan on complicating things more. I'm delighted that you are enjoying the story and all my twists. Now, as the new year kicks off, I'll be tying all those threads weaving them together. Hoipe you enjoy the mayhem.Thank you for reading and for the review.

Thank you for the update!Lovely to see Hermione still persisting. Draco's there, just about to be nudged over. I think he'll join up before Cillian, but then you'll probably go and prove me wrong. I'm surprised Cillian isn't thinking who's going to take care of Diana and her parents if something were to happen to him. Not just what would happen if Voldy won. With the 'required' pregnancies, does this mean Snape will be expected to knock Hermione up soon?Looking forward to seeing what happens next!Looking forward to seeing what happens next!

You are most welcome for the update. I'm happy that I could finally get it out there for you. Yep, she's being rather pushy, but then you're right, he's almost there. Draco is, yes, he just needs an outlet to take the leap. Who switches first, we'll see. lol Dianna can leave the barrier, but her parents cannot. So even though it's really risky, she can slip out into the Muggle world and, although she doesn't know it yet, has access to his Muggle acounts. But he still feels responsible for thier warefare.Oh, those requirements. You'll have to wait until cha 40 to find out. lol You're not going to like it any more than my Severus-muse did, but it was needed to help Cillian tip. And Severus will do something expected, but really defiant, and Cillian will too, causing CIllian some aniexty.Thankyou for reading and for the review. I hope to get 40 and 41 in queue soon-ish. Just have to clean them up first. working on 43 and 44 presently.

Thank you very much. I'm glad you came back and that you've liked what I did. More is coming, but writing time has been slow lately - lots of RL interference. But I haven't given up. Thank you for reading and for the review.
goodness gracious, what a terrific chapter! from the beginning, where severus lets hermione see that he does care for her, and she actually GETS IT, and that first consummation! *fans self* i enjoyed the battle between severus and narcissa, with draco finally breaking the stalemate - nice to have a little bit of semi-comic relief in there. progress seemed to have been made. but - poor hermione - what an awful experience on top of what was a very demanding day! and now i guess poor severus, too, since he thinks she's crying over him. and i read your long response to one of the other reviewers, so i won't look for any resolution/understanding any time soon. but as long as you continue writing such a compelling story with such believable characters, i'm willing to come along for the ride! (now i'm off to go review your other story - i managed to read both chapters over the weekend, but had no time to review.)

Kitttylefish, Thanks for the reveiw. In the next chapter, Draco and Hermione discuss what happened during that fight - it's cute. I hope you continue to enjoy the story. Thank you for the review.
