Hermione finds a mysterious piece of self-writing parchment in Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes that writes: Tell me your deepest desire. Thinking it’s a trick, she says, “I wish to see my soul mate?” and she suddenly finds herself at Severus’ feet.
This is my response to the Potter_Place Summer 2007 Prompt – #23

I love to write. A dreamer, a creator and filled with wonder, imagination and life. Sometimes I get lost in the other worlds I've read and in some I create. It's all good, I’m in good company.
“Imagination does not become great until human beings, given the courage and the strength, use it to create.”― Maria Montessori
“Our imagination flies -- we are its shadow on the earth.”― Vladimir Nabokov
“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions.”― Albert Einstein
“Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were, but without it we go nowhere.” ― Carl Sagan
Reviews for The Self-Writing Parchment
Very nice. I love that Hermione is still her fiery, headstrong self. I love how Cillian is dealing with Hermione's attitude too...it makes me laugh sometimes. I really liked how you had Severus comfort Hermione after the confrontation in the dungeons...that was a nice moment. I kind of think he sees Hermione might actually start to fall for him by his reaction to her pushing his hair out of his face after they made love. Wonderful job!~Jen

Thank you very much, hon. Yep, now that she is at the castle she feels safer, and is pushing on her boundries. Severus reaction after her attack was very caring, and the hair thing goes deeper than just that. It will be explained later. Thank you for the review.

Nice chapter. I'm glad Hermione's finally coming to see that she needs to follow the rules set before her for her protection. I really like Cillian too; you did a great job with his personality. Fantastic job!~Jen

Thank you very much. Yes, she is starting to realize the rules are for her saftey, but don't expect her to stay obedient. She just will not be running away from Cillian, although she still doesn't trust Draco. Thank you very much for the nice review.

Your very welcome. Next chapter is in queue...
Great story -- I am glad you are continuing it. You have so many mysteries going on -- it will be interesting to see where they lead.

Thank you so very much. Yes, I am not going to abandon this baby, even though I may have gaps of time between chapters (sorry about that). The next chapter was sent to my beta last night. It will answer a few questions for everyone at least. Thank you for reading and for the supportive review.

Having the DA members join the Charms Club definitely was a good idea! Cillian seems to have a stick up his bum lately...maybe that's what he's dealing with? :)I'm glad to see Hermione and Sev are still relatively happy. :)

Thank you. I have to give Filius credit for that suggestion. It helped me slow things down in regards to Neville! I could hug that little wizard!Cillian thought following Hermione would be easy: be a body guard, avoid sister, don't have to marry Larissa Roquewood! Too bad he didnt count on her being, er, active!Well, if not happy, getting there, maybe?Thank you for the review.

Er, what did Snape want? Or was it just that he wanted some affection from Hermione, and she didn't seem willing to give it?
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Oh, I can't tell you, but it woll come up. I did give you the answer in chapter 12, the night befor the wedding - he's feelings on the matter hasn't changed.

Thanks for letting us know about Hermione's family. I was curious. It's a good sign that Hermione is half way honest with him about what happened in the common room. Liked the interaction in the charms club also. I especially like the growing relationship between Severus and Hermione. She's starting to care about him. Rats, no next chapter to read. *ok, will wait patiently* Gotta say, this is my favorite story right now. Thanks for following through and posting it, it's truly a first rate story. 10 stars if I could.

You are very welcome. Yes, she is and always been honest with Severus. Maybe not forthright, but honest. You'll see more Charms Club and possibly another...Yes, their relationship is evolving, but there are layers and blocks still. I'm working on that though. I know, but I have another chapter - really I do, it's just not presentable yet!Thank you so much for the supportive review. Back to typing!

Poor Draco, his sins are coming back to bite him in the butt. Good, lol. I find it very telling that Hermione still calls Severus, sir or snape depending who she's talking to. That she only calls him Severus in the throes of passion. Will she be learning occlumency soon? Maybe then, their relationship will take more of an upward turn. Still loving the story. Great chapter, loved the view of what's happening out in the wizarding world. Also, you do a great job of building a full, rich environment to your chapters.

Yes, once again, Draco is faced with the consequences of his actions!Yep, you have clearly defined the dynamics of her relationship toward Severus. Yes, she will - eventually. There are more lessons to come. and IF she can master the skill to his satisfaction, then yes, he can open up to her. I'm working on that. Thank you for the sweet review and the supportive comments. hugs

Welcome to Hermione's World Cillian, lol. What a day, I wonder what Hermione saw that was important? *ok, will wait patiently to find out* Just wanted you to know I appreciate your story, don't want to keep you from important writing, hint, hint. LOL
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)

I'm so glad Hermione has a ready support system. Severus couldn't be an overt help to her and Perren did what she could but it isn't the same as having your friends close. Good for Cillian, Hermione still seems a bit overwhelmed with her new reality, but it looks like everything is slowly sinking in. I liked how you expanded Trelawney's skills with the tarot. Can't wait to see what happens in her classes.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Well, yes, she has friends, and yes, the numbers are growing... oops. Yep, Hermione is feeling the crunch a bit and hasn't forgotten her 'role' and her position. I didn't expand Trelawney's skills, she was rather adpt at cards in HBP! She predited the lightening struck tower, didn't she?Thank you very much for the review.

I'm so glad Peren was able to go with Hermione. Too funny, did Narcissa mean to give Perren as a gift? Gotta go back and re-read that part again. All in all, not a bad first day back at Hogwarts. *sighs in relief* At least some parts of their relationship are working out. Very nicely done! Her friendship with Cillian is moving along well too. Really enjoying this story, five stars to Southern and Cocoa too. Love this story, would give you more stars if I could, lol.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Yes, Narcissa really goofed, but Hermione is better for it. Peren was just too cute to leave at Spinner's End. Yes, the companionable... er, realtionship (?) between Cillian and Hermione is working out... sort of.Thank you for the stars and the compliments. I'll tell both SW and Cocoa when I chat with them next.

I loved the wedding scene, it was beautiful. Lol, Voldermort, father of the bride. I wonder if that's been done before? It would make a good sshg quiz. Just curious, but why did you choose Talfryn as one of Severus' names? Yes, I did wonder if Severus knew Voldermort had been to see Hermione. Great chapter, off to the next.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you. I personally thought that Narcissa went a little over the top - but heck, it was lovely. Yes, I thought that having Vold giving the bride away would be an eerie touch.Talfryn - I can thank my wonderful beta SW for that. SHe helped me pick, and I loved it.Oh, I can't answer the last one... sorry. You'll see. Thank you very much for the review.

So, does Wormtail owe Hermione a life debt now? I must be a *bit* blood thirsty. Wormtail would be a dead rat if it were up to me, lol. Glad Cillian was there when the dress came, Belinda better watch her back, hmm. Good thing Voldermort doesn't know about the charmed galleon. At least Harry knows she isn't a traitor. Can't wait to read the next chapter. Gotta tell you, I love your stories. I'm following a couple of others. I can't believe you can juggle so many at one time. Well done! Thanks for the diversions.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Good question! I'm not sure a life debt, but he will never forget what she did. Remember, he was a rat in Ron's house, her friends. She (apparently and I'm sure had) held him, petted him and such (think of how you would hold a rat) and that memory stuck with him. Yuck! I know! As for Hermione not killing him - she's not a killer. I didn't want to make doing the CC easy for her. It's better this way - and not. You'll see. Nope, only the DA friends know about the coin (and Draco but he doesn't realize she has it)Thank you so very much for the compliment! wow *blushes* thank you. Yes, I'm actually working on 5 WIP's at the moment and set two on hold until I finish something! It's called a thumbrdrive, folders, notes pages, and I have a calender, direction outline, occurances outline - daily planner format, information folder and pages of a information = per story! And all the information I get off the internet, I kneep loads of it on another thumbdrive. That's my secret!

Your splinching scene worked for me. I had forgotten what Severus had said to Hermione in an earlier chapter. Whew. Glad Tonks kept a cool head in such a horrifying situation. Ok, so that's why Narcissa is so hell bent on getting them married. Great chapter, so glad you wrote this story. Thanks Southern and Cocoa.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you. When I'd decided to splinch Hermione in half - I didn't want to gross out my readers to bad. BUt having a medical background helps and a terrific beta! Tonks, as I see her, if a klutz, but an Auror. So she must have a head on her shoulders. Yep, Narcissa is angry at Severus. I know - a woman scorned and all that. cliche, but works.I'll pass on the thanks to SW and Cocoa.Thank you for the review.

Still loving the story. Wormtail is very much in character, *dissssgusting!* Things are never as they seem, at least to Hermione. True, she has been through a lot, whether she remembers it or not. I suspect she is dealing better than most in that situation. Off to the next chapter.

I've been enjoying your story. The characterization of Belinda, Wormtail, Voldermort and the Malfoys chill my blood and horrify in turns. I'm curious to see what's happening in Harry's world also. I'm waiting to see how well Hermione can handle the situation. Moving and gripping story, I'm glad Southern was able to help you post it.

I really like this chapter! I love the way Hermione and her pals had to pretend and play tricks to get a little time together. It seems pretty obvious that Flitwick's charms club is training them in defense stuff now, but Cillian doesn't seem to care.Anyway, great chapter, thank you for the update!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you very much. Well, how else were they going to have private time? LOL Yes, Flitwick's CC will, eventually have defense stuff, disguised very well. LOL He's a little pistol that one.You are very welcome for the update. Thank you for the review, doll.

Great fic! Am somewhat surprised that Cillian put up such a fuss about staying with her at all times when McGonagall asked to talked to her, but in the end actually gave them privacy. Doubt he would have been so accommodating if she had pulled the stunt with the Fainting Fancy beforehand though. Yes, I know he's a Death Eater (even if he's Severus' friend), but it seems like everytime he tries to show her some trust or a bit of leniency that she throws it in his face. Draco would have a lot better luck at trying to befriend her if he didn't bring people with him that she knows hate her guts (unlike him who she thinks used to hate her, and probabaly still doesn't actually like her, but had at least been civil to her in the time they both stayed at Spinner's End). It's probably a very good thing that Flitwick suggested they join the Charms Club. With how unsubtle they were being about restarting the DA, there would have been a lot of trouble for its members (detentions at the very least). Not to mention that if it were proven that Hermione was actively rebelling against him, she and all those assigned to watch her by Voldemort (Severus, Cillian and Draco) would face whatever punishment he felt like dealing out. Wonder what Severus' deal is. He's very busy with the various duties he has to do for the roles he plays (so he might just be tired and distracted), but something about his and Hermione's latest encounter seems different somehow... Looking forward to the next!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you so very much. Yes, well, Cillian is trying to be as civil and understanding as he can, and no she's not exactly making it easy. I suppose he realized that Minerva wouldn't harm Hermione, which meant that he could relax a bit. But the candy, he might have bought the fib that it had been unintentional? You'll have to see. Yes, Cillian is a Death Eater - but remember that he HOUSED the magnificent self-appointed Lord over all and has probably seen the meglomaniac clearly for himself. Remember chapter 10?
Draco is still reeling from the fact that he thought he'd already won her over and is gobsmacked that he hasn't. I mean they got on so well at Spinner's End (when she felt like a prisoner and he was the only one in the hosue to talk to beside Sverus). So, no the arrogrant twerp hadn't realized that she was only being friendly because she needed someont to talk to. Now that she's at school and doesn't feel obliged to 'hang out with him' she doesn't want to. Talk about a boot to the ego! Also, I don't think Draco has ever had to earn anyone's friendship ot trust, so he doesn't know how. At least that's how I see it. Thus, Draco assumed that she'd jsut be comfortable with him like she had been. He's having to learn how to gain someone's trust and friendship. poor little rich pure-blood.Yes, it's very fortuitous that Flitwick asked them, in more ways than one, which will become clearer later... No, Neville was too gun-ho and recklass, but this way there is a cover for it all. Hummm. Severus. Can't elaborate right now. it's there, subtle, but there. I gave you the answer once, twice before... but I'm going to just .
I hope to update soon. I have the next chapter, I jsut have to send it to my betas. Thank you for the lovely review. I appreciate it, and I'm sorry I took so long to get it in.

hooray for another chapter! and hooray for flitwick and the charms club solution! clever. at the beginning of the chapter i was feeling cillian's frustration becasue he's trying to keep her safe and she's not making it easy - but then, she's hermione, so she has to do what she thinks is right. so i liked your elegant solution to the problem, at least for now. i also like that hermione and severus are at the point where they do seem to genuinely care about each other, even though they still aren't that comfortable expressing their feelings. of course, i'm dying to know what was on severus's mind!"I seem to have divided myself between too many projects lately" - do you have a dozen or so entries in the anything goes challenge, like last time? ; )as always, i'm looking forward to the next!

Thank you and you are welcome. I know it's been a while and for that I am deeply sorry.Yes, I personally saw the FLitwick solution solved a huge plot gapping hole and gave me the time I needed. I culd hug the little guy! Yep, Cillian is really trying, but doesn't feel like quite the prisoner at Hogwarts that she did at Spinner's End. Yes, well, you expressed the situation between Severus and Hermione perfectly. LOL - of course! My beta is hosting the thing! kidding - but not really. I do have entries in the challenge (completed, thank God), a SS/HG gift exchange story (WIP), Plight, Tower, the dictionary challenge again, and a round robin I'm hosting... so yes, I'm a little stretched thin. But I'm managing...

Glad to see an update. I'm really liking this story. Although. I am a bit confused about the relationship between Snape and Hermione. Mostly she behaves like what she is - his prisoner; answering with "sirs" and such, and then at rare other times she behaves as if they have a real relationship between them, like at the end when they made love. I'm not really sure I follow that part yet. Even Snape seems very stand-offish to her, just as she seems to totally keep her distance from him (except when he wants sex). I'm looking forward to seeing how you either weave their lives into a real partnership, or the opposite, unravel it and follow the events of DH.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you. I'm so glad that you like it. Ah, yes, their relationship - well, yes you are right on so many levels. She is his prisioner. He is also her Headmaster and thus the 'sir' and such. He has reminded her that she is still a prisoner... and he is stand-offish. I've indicated why before. Yes, he desires her, both her and sexually - again indicated before. As you can tell, I am following DH timeline and have added in some of the events, sort of. There are differences. I hope you like where I'm going and what I do. Thank you for the review.

As you can tell, I am following DH timeline and have added in some of the events, sort of. There are differences. I hope you like where I'm going and what I do. Thank you for the review.
