Hermione finds a mysterious piece of self-writing parchment in Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes that writes: Tell me your deepest desire. Thinking it’s a trick, she says, “I wish to see my soul mate?” and she suddenly finds herself at Severus’ feet.
This is my response to the Potter_Place Summer 2007 Prompt – #23
The warnings I have listed for this chapter are implied. I chose the rating of MA (NC-17) due to the story’s overall content.

I love to write. A dreamer, a creator and filled with wonder, imagination and life. Sometimes I get lost in the other worlds I've read and in some I create. It's all good, I’m in good company.

“Our imagination flies -- we are its shadow on the earth.”― Vladimir Nabokov

aaarrrgghhh! i can't stand the suspense!!!! i think you outdid yourself here, my dear, and i'm not entirely sure that is a good thing! i can only hope you post the next chapter soon. and yes, i read your teaser already, so it's not quite so AGONIZING not knowing what happened. at least you gave us a hint of what's to come.i loved hermione's stomping around, especially as overheard from downstairs - nice to have a little humorous touch. and i liked that things have thawed a bit between draco and hermione. i'm very interested to see how severus reacts once the dire emergency aspect is handled.can't wait for the next!

Well, thank you. I glad that this chapter is so well recieved. *sigh in relief* and that you found Severus and Cillian's chat humreous. You'll be seeing more of him to come.Knowing that I had such a terrible cliffie I have given two teasers in my reviews, just to be nice. So hang in there, I’m working on getting it in!I sent my next chapter to my betas the same day that this chapter was validated. So once it’s all cleaned up and presentable – I’ll post! The good news is that I have 11 and 12 written… 13 more than half done and have been filling in ideas on the outline for my chap 14.

Maria!!! I'm here to nudge you into unpdating. I just finished re-reading for the the third time TPTB and I really *need* to read more of this. You are an amazing writer. Happy New Year!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Happy New Year to you too. Yes, I'm still here, and am picking up on this one again. ALthough I have and am doing some back reading myself. lol Thank you for the kindly nudge.
Oh noes! She's spliched herself, hasn't she? Ack - can't wait for next chapter, what a cliffie, eh?
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
If you look on the first review I received for this chapter you will see a little treat/teaser… that is all the answer I’ll give you.
Oh, and thank you for your support!

I really hate Wormtail. And poor Hermione, this is really getting to be a bit too much for her, isn't it?
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Yep, Wormtail = scum. And yes, Hermione has been through the ringer.

wow! What a place to stop - hope the next update is in the works. I can't even fathom what might have happened to Hermione upon trying to escape, and by dissapparation - it's such a quick thing, she wouldn't even have time to register what might happen before it actually did happen (whatever it is that would happen to a prisoner that tried to escape that is). Well, at least I can assume she lives :) I jsut wonder what state she will be in after this.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Sorry, I had to stop there otherwise this chapter would have gone on for another couple thousand words!! Beside, you’ll be answered in the next two chapters. (If you wish to be teased, check out the first review I got for this chapter…)You’ll be glad to note that my betas have the next chapter in their ‘Inbox.’ I sent it to them tonight! – and I have 12 written as well. Have patience, it’s coming!
Response from Mazzy (Reviewer)
Hmmm... I'm gonna go with Draco - always knew he had some sort of soft spot for her, whether he wanted to admit it or not lol.

Thank you for the update - another great chapter! It's good to see him displaying himself to so many people, or at least letting them see a portion of how willing he is to help the cause. Now, for the big step for Hermione to get Cillian and Draco on side.Looking forward to seeing what happens next!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you, you are more than welcome for the update. I appreciate your sticking with me.He is taking a risk in doing so, but it will pay off in the end. It will be good once or if Hermione is able to get them on her side. More is coming, I just put one in the queue.Thank you for reading and for the review.

Thanks for the update!First thing I thought of with her apparating is her shell jewellery; she'll be in pieces. (Gah!) Has she apparated straight to Voldy? I could see her doing that as a way to show her trust and it would definitely get the Bels in the deep.I like the subtle shifts and influences toward the Malfoys and Cilian. I think she's finding some chinks in the armour.Looking forward to seeing what happens next!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
You are most welcome. Oh, well, would she though? She doesn't really trust him after all and he marked her! Trust me, Belinda and Bellatrix are not going to get away that easily! Yep, the shifts are happening, Draco and Cillian only need a good shove. Next is coming. I have two in queue now so as soon as they vaildte and post, I'll submit the next chapter for this story. Thank you for reading and for the review.
But she has the jewelry on!! She'll lose her head if she disapperates! Augh!! Pleae update soon! I'm dying to know what happens! Love it!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Oh, you missed something there! Did he activate the jewelry? or not... I have two in queue right now (#31 and #42 in queue so it will be quite awhile) but as soon as one clears validation and posts I have it ready to submit. Thank you for reading and for the review.
It is great!!! so, you are going to post 11 soon? If I remember right, you promised 10 and 11 to be written together.. And honestly, we don't care for comas!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Chapter 11 is with my betas in the ‘Inbox’ as of tonight! And I already have chap 12 written. However, the admins do care about comas and so until I clean up my chapter – it won’t be accepted. So, *shrugs* it’s here, right here on my computer, ready to be corrected, refined and then I’ll share it! Gladly!!If you want a chapter teaser, check out the first review I received… but I warn you, it’s a tease!
I was about to throw a fit about the cliffie, but decided to read the reviews left by others and found that delectable teaser! But, OMG, it must be a major splinch! I can't believe Severus has to apparate around trying to find the rest of her ... and to wherever her parts went, whoever is there finding her pieces-parts, gushing blood. I sure hope that they all don't stand around arguing about who should give up their parts to the other.
I also hope that Severus does not blame Hermione for splinching and everything on her because she did not stay in the lab. How typical of a man not to think about bathroom facilities.
Hermione just does not think like a captive. To have to remain within limits, to ask permission, to only have limited access to places and things that normally would not be thought about. My first reaction would have been to leave and go upstairs to the loo. No one was there - just dash out and back, no problem. Second thought would have been, pee in a bottle and rinse it down the sink drain! Maybe ask the house elf for help... but self-sufficient people do not ask for help first.
Needless to say, but will anyhow, looking forward to the next ch!!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Dang,
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
, we think alike! I agree woth you on all you statements! Since she’s not being so badly mistreated any more – she’s not thinking like a captive, except for realizing that she has no say in anything. I’m sorry about the cliffie, but I had to cut the chapter somewhere! Otherwise, it would go on and on… besides this way worked out so well, and I really like the way these two chapters fit together. Besides, we see Severus’s side in the next one… it’ his POV. I hope to have the next chapter up soon, but I have to have it cleaned up, corrected and punctuated correctly or it won’t be posted! But it’s here, ready to be spiffed up. I also have chap 12 written and half of 13… I’m glad you are enjoying this. Thank you for the lovely review.
Oh, I thought for sure there would be Disapparation wards. I'd hate to see what Snape does when he finds out Pettigrew has attacked her again.
Glad to see an update. Keep 'em coming!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you for the review. No, so far Snape uses his back garden to Apparate from his house. I’ll be updating fairly soon, my betas just received chap 11 tonight, I have 12 written and 13 is more than half way written… so there is more. If you want to be teased, check out my first review for this chapter… be warned, it’s a tease!
aack! How could you leave us here? I can't remember---does she have to wear her anti-Apparition necklace "all" the time---so has she just spliched herself or otherwise hurt herself severely? And I do look forward to the return of the more logical and less emotion-driven Hermione--I can see the sense in her being an emotional wreck, what with all she's been through, so I can 'forgive' her allowing herself to sink into the behavior of the little girl who so panicked when in the clutches of the Devil's Snare that she momentarily forget she was a witch ("but we've no fire!" ARE YOU A WITCH OR NOT?--I love that scene). Truly, whe HAS been in the clutches of the "Devil's Snare" during her captivity! Yet, at the same time I've longed for the return of the "cool logic in the face of fire" that she displayed when confronted by the potions puzzle. I'm also intrigued about why the wording is so important---"my heart's desire" and "SEE my soul mate"---you've got me wondering if EVERYONE is mistaking the meaning of what the parchment did, for didn't she, in essence, make TWO requests? So which one was the parchment answering, when it took her to Snape? Do PLEASE update soon!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you for the review. Brilliant questions! First, If I didn’t this chapter would have been nearly twice as long. Also the next chapter is in Snape’s POV. No, she wasn’t wearing her necklace, her going outside was a happenstance. If you want to know about the Splinching, there is a teaser on the response to my first review, but I warm you it’s a tease! You will see more of the rational, logical Hermione later, as Severus opens up to her and she comes to terms with her situation. In regards to the wording, yes. You’ve got it right. But I can’t give too much away about that right now… sorry. My next update is coming – my betas have the chapter now. I sent chap 11 to her tonight. It’ll post soon, I promise.
Really, really love this fic!!!
Wonder if Severus is the one leaving flowers on her nightstand? He's been as kind and as generous to her as he is able while still keeping his cover, but now she just thinks he has been trying to manipulate her rather then making a bad situation as comfortable as possible.
Really like Severus' friend, and that Hermione and Draco are working better together and seemingly trying to get along. Liked Draco's concern for her when checking to see if the potion got on her.
I was hoping that Hermione doesn't make the situation worse for her and Severus with trying to find a way out on her own, and whatever messages she manages to send to Harry; but with her trying to apparate without a wand out of Severus' heavily warded home, right now I'm just hoping she didn't injure herself too badly and wondering where she ended up or if she even managed to get outside the wards (if the yard was warded too). Worried what rat-boy would do to her if she's injured and unconcious but still there alone with him. He's just creepy. *shudders*
Looking forward to the next! That's the only problem with reading as things are updated, I want the next chapter now!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you very much.
I never said who is leaving the flower. Hehehehehe. But the lovely toiletries were all made by Severus.
Cillian will appear again, as will Narcissa and Belinda. And yes, Draco’s making an attempt at nice – although he’d never admit that his concern was genuine. Could be that – yes, he’s starting to like her, but not romantically. She is after all going to marry Severus, a long time family friend. Her relationship with the Malfoys is going to be interesting…
As for your concerns for Severus… he wasn’t home – well he GOT home just in time… you’ll see. The next chapter his POV and is titled Splinching. The next after that is Repercussions. Teaser of chap 11:
“Severus this won’t do any good without her other half,” Cillian practically shouted. “Amplector Coercere.”“I’ll get Tranker,” Draco said, Apparating away as Wormtail tried to make a dash for the house.
“You, Rat, open the door!” Severus shouted as Wormtail reached for the doorknob.Wormtail stopped and stood aside, holding the door wide open, trembling. “Patefacio lab door, Accio Essence of Dittany,” Severus cast forcefully, and two green bottles flew to him. The whole side of Hermione’s body looked as if it was drenched in her blood. “I’ve got this! Go!” Cillian nearly shouted, taking a bottle form Severus’s hand. “If you have any idea where she’ll have gone – go. I’ve got things here.” He turned to the Rat. “Wormtail, have you a wand, man? Get over here!” Reluctantly Wormtail returned. “Amplector Coercere. Repeat this every ten seconds. Keep her lungs open.” “Draco went to get his Healer, but get yours too, and hurry! Two will be better than one.” Severus ordered Cillian, and then looked at Wormtail with a dangerously dark glare. “Stay with her until either Draco or Cillian returns. Do not transform into a rat and cower away,” he ordered. “Or you will regret it.” Wormtail was nodding, looking at Severus terrified. “All right, I’m going for our Healer, Pushpa.” Cillian cast Wormtail, dangerous glare. “You leave and he’s not the only one you’ll have to fear.” Wormtail turned to look at Cillian and the sniveling Rat almost looked ready to cry. “Retineo Coercitum Contineo,” Severus added for good measure, and then Apparated to the Burrow.Aghhhhhh evil cliffee.
Fantastic chapter. Hermione stomping about was brilliant - hey, we all do it when we're vexed. The rat is about to be destroyed me thinks. Hope Severus doesn't get hurt because she has escaped. Oh, oh, me thinks that Draco is falling for her too.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you very much. Hermione is vexed, she’ll be all right though. There are some surprises in regards to what happens to the Rat, in chapter 12, when the Dark Lord summons everyone… but I’m ahead of myself. As for Severus… the same thing, he’ll be okay. *smirks* as for Draco, no, he’s not falling for her, but is coming to know her. They are interacting together without peer pressure, and in close proximity. He sees her as a person more.My next update is coming – my betas have chapter 11 now. I sent chap 11 to her tonight. It’ll post soon, I promise. And if you want a peek, see my first review for this chapter. It’s a teaser!
oh the drama. I hope someone kills the Rat. He makes my skin crawl. Severus is going to be so mad. I can't wait to see who makes friends with Hermione and what happens next.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you very much. The Rat – well, it will be a twist. Yes, Severus is going to be mad… You’ll see. However I hate to tell you what you are asking about is in chap 12. Sorry. But it’s written – that’s at least good news, right? My next update is coming – my betas have chapter 11 now. I sent it to her tonight. It’ll post soon, I promise. And if you want a peek, see my first review for this chapter. It’s a teaser!
oh my now they have to be bonded well maybe now they will get together Hermione should never have been with Ron in the first place. They make better friends than lovers. Severus is much better chose.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you. Yes, they will be together. I’m not afraid to type lemons… Lemons are coming. No, Ron isn’t a good match for Hermione, and Severus is. Much better.
"Peren, could you please bring me a chamber pot?"Sheesh, 'Mione, you're supposed to be the smart one, remember? Not that we readers complain, really - the more she blunders, the more plot thickens. Yay for "idiot girl."::suddenly has a vivid mental image of splinched Hermione's lover half left for Wormtail to... sniff at::Argh! Where did I put that bottle of brain bleach?
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Don’t worry about the brain bleach. Here this should help. “Yes, two of them. The one we were to brew in the silver cauldron still had two or three steps to go, and Granger could manage those without me. I left her in the potions lab so that she could do so,” Draco said casually, and Severus cocked an eyebrow at him. “You left Hermione alone in my lab?” he asked, suspicious. “And how long ago was that?” “Only an hour or so, I think,” Draco responded warily. Cillian smiled as he took in the exchange. “This should be good. You left her locked up alone in the lab with all those ingredients and potions for her to peruse?” “And my potion books. She’ll be curled in a chair with some – or several of my books – reading contently,” he stated, hoping that was the case.
Response from Anathema (Reviewer)
mmm... curled... in a chair... reading...I wish I could do that right now.Thank You!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
You are welcome. Now here's a hint... check out the first reveiw I got for this chapter... heheheh
You're doing a great job with this story! Considering all she's been through, it's not surprizing she'd slam doors and scream. Good heavens, I think it's wonderful that she's moderately sane.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Well thank you very much. Yes, Hermione is a survivor. I just didn’t want people upset that she’s still whining.
I don't find Hermione that immature. The situation she's in would have made a lot of women get hysterical. I fear however that her escape will make things worse for her. And I hope Wormtail will suffer at Severus's wand a lot for his attitude.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you for the nice comments. I was worried that readers would be put off by another chapter of Hermione's outbrusts. Her escape will have repercussions, and yes, Wormtail will be punished, but I think you may be surprised as by who.
Response from septentrion (Reviewer)
So, it won't be by Severus, nor by Voldemort, I guess. Someone of the Order? Harry? And will Hermione go back (willingly or not) to Severus? What will be the consequences of her escape for Severus? I'm trying to get informations here, just to make the waiting for the next chapter more bearable.
I still come back and reread this one, because it remains amazing. Come back and finish it? I want to know what's going to happen with Cillian!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
That's sweet of you. I'm no longer posting here at TPP, but have been working on this story.
Gee Whiz, when will Hermione trust him already! I was not impressed with Harry at all! He acted like an idiot!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
She will. Yes, but think, Harry is wearing the locket (which effects him more because of his scar and the Dark Lord - remember what Severus said in the Occlumancy lessons? he can use the connection to unhinge him?) You'll see once the locket is destroyed and Harry is more himself. Thank you for reading and for the review.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)

Wow, lots of action and side-glancing suspicion amongst the crowd in this chapter! Everyone has an agenda, don't they.I am a little confused as to why the two Bs would so deliberately and blatantly violate Voldy's order about Hermione, especially just hours after he'd issued the order and with him on the premises. Do they both have a personal death wish? Well, yeah, Bella is just plain nuts, but surely Belinda should be able to picture herself in Charity Burbage's place, floating over the Dark Lord's conference table if she dared pick on Hermione.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you. Agenda, no? They all just want to be the top most favorite. lol The girls jsut wanted to play... both want Hermione dead, Bella is nuts and hates her, Belinda sees her as a hinderence to what she wants - Severus as her play thing. Both are truly barmy witches. Belinda wasn't there the day Charity was the entertainment, and she has always wormed ehr way out of trouble before.... but you're right, there will be some punishments. Thank you for reading and for the review.
Response from snapesbeatrice (Reviewer)
The girls' "game" with Hermione certainly enhances the story, adds that sense of scary thrill. Just wondered why they'd openly violate Voldy's direct order, and so soon, too. They both must have ADHD, ha ha!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
LOL Love that! ADHD - blimey, that's good. I broke my rule not to answer a responce to my responce... but here I go: I suppose Belinda saw an opportunity and took it. (That and she hated that Severus snubed her earlier advance.) Bellatrix, she's plain barking mad and brazen, and she saw an opportunity happening and joined in. Narcisssa - well, there is more to her being there than I'm going to admit.
Another fine chapter. I loved Severus' and Hermione's dialogue at the end. He wasn't exactly pouring his heart out, but it really moved me for some reason. . Thanks so much for the update.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
I'm delighted that you liked the chapter, and glad that you liked the dialogue. For Severus, that is pouring his heart out. You are most welcome for the update. Thank you for reading and for the review.

Thank goodness Severus found her! I was afraid Harry was going to harm her before Severus could get there. That locket is really working on Harry's mind, isn't it? It's good to see Ron being so calm and trying to make peace between Hermione and Harry. Hope he won't give up even though Hermione is back with Severus. That graphorn was a scary twist I didn't see coming! Go you! I can't wait to see how Severus handles taking Hermione back to the Dark Lord. Hopefully Belinda and Bellatrix will still get what's coming to them. Thanks for another great chapter!!!Beth
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Yes, it's good Severus did, although I'm not sure Harry would have hurt her, but he'd have left her there, possibly. Yep, Ron is grown up some for this story ( I hated how he'd stayed so immature in canon) and things will be better - they have the sword. I'm delighted that you like the graphorn. Did you go see the picture Proulxes drew for me, it's gorgeous! You'll get your wish next chapter, and you'll see Belinda and Bellatrix too. Although, it may surprise you how I handle it. Thankyou for reading and for the review. Happy New Year to you,

Yikes! So much for Voldy's words about I have marked her as mine – mine to do with as I desire. If Voldy doesn't discipline his motley crew (special glare at Belinda....), they shouldn't respect his words. So I am hoping Voldy dieshes out good punishment to Belindaand the others. Thank you for updating!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
I know, right? Don't fret, there will be some punishments! Belinda thins too much of her sly self to think she'll be caught, but really, cross the Dark Lord? geesh You're welcome for the update, thank you for the review.
