I'm a forty-something American woman who is addicted to the SSHG pairing, relatively new to this fandom. I'm also considering starting some original fiction soon...
Check out the story I co-wrote with Remarkable -- it's called "Hidden Attractions" and (as soon as it's through the queue) it's archived under the penname remarkable_linlawless.
For those who are interested, I've got two WIPs at my website (which I will eventually post here, but not until I have a complete draft). It's easy and free to join the website, so I hope you'll visit!
I am honored that my story, Witchy Woman, has been selected as a featured story for September 2010. Better yet, this honor came with the very awesome banner at the top of this post!
Here's a couple of banners my friend Atuliel made for the two WIPs at my website:
Reviews for Witchy Woman
Poor Sevvy! He's getting neurotic over all this! And Hermione's attitudes don't help - the poor thing's getting whiplash watching her! Hee hee hee!
Response from linlawless (Author of Witchy Woman)
Yep, he sure is struggling with all this! Of course, the real problem is his fundamental belief that she can't possibly love him ... Thanks for reviewing! :D
Oh, my. What a tangled web.
Response from linlawless (Author of Witchy Woman)
Indeed. Now, to go about untangling it! Thanks for reviewing! :D
Very good update! I always find 'confused Severus' amusing, since he so rarely admits to not knowing something.
Response from linlawless (Author of Witchy Woman)
Hehehe true. He's fun that way! Thanks for reviewing! :)
now that would be a very useful spell. great chapter, as usual ^^
Response from linlawless (Author of Witchy Woman)
Thanks -- glad you're enjoying! This spell would be useful ... though I think if I had to pick one, Accio would still be my first choice ... ;)
Response from Aysha (Reviewer)
oh, absolutely! because really, how much time of our lives do we waste searching for misplaced stuff? (which are often misplaced by other people ¬¬)
I've just read this through in a oner. I'm loving the alternating POV, and the magical machinations. Thanks for a fun read.
Response from linlawless (Author of Witchy Woman)
Glad you're enjoying it! I appreciate the review :)
She was bloody lucky here!! As Severus himself had considered Veritaserum, maybe he won't kill her outright? He did realise that he's got a problem, after all. Now he should just learn to say what Hermione heard! Hmm, and me too, I could use this spell! What was that hand movement, again?
Response from linlawless (Author of Witchy Woman)
Sadly, they don't tell Muggles like me what the wand movements are ... ;) And yes, if Severus would communicate a bit more effectively, Hermione wouldn't need spells, but she's been lucky so far that he hasn't realized what she did. We'll see how long her luck holds. Thanks for reviewing! :)
I just started this today and have sped read through the entire thing. I love it! I was a little spoiled to be able to read 24 chapters in a row though, and now I am anxiously awaiting the next chapter Great Story!
Response from linlawless (Author of Witchy Woman)
Oh, glad you're enjoying it so far, and I greatly appreciate you reviewing! Next chapter should be posted soon. :)
Gee, I didn't know Ginny felt that way about her brother's arse!
Response from linlawless (Author of Witchy Woman)
LOL, presumably she didn't! It was fun coming up with thoughts that could be twisted just a little bit to be just wrong. :) Thanks for commenting!
Ooo, that was better than I could have imagined. I'm dying to find out what he was really thinking!
Response from linlawless (Author of Witchy Woman)
Glad you liked it! You'll find out in the next chapter, which should be posted soon. Thanks for reviewing! :)
Sneaky girls.
Response from linlawless (Author of Witchy Woman)
Hehehe very true. Thanks for commenting! :)
OMG! The ideas that Hermione and Ginny and Severus came up with to find out what our two lovebirds really felt about each other scared me to death. Lordy, there was so much potential for something to go terribly wrong. But apparently I should have had more faith in Hermione's skills because the Fides fidelis seemed to work perfectly.
The entire time I was reading this chapter I was thinking to myself that something bad would happen. I guess there's still plenty of time for that to happen (especially when Severus figures out/finds out that Hermione used magic to find out what he was actually thinking), but for now I couldn't be happier!
Woo hooooooo!
Beth
Response from linlawless (Author of Witchy Woman)
Hehehe, yes, they're lucky this didn't immediately go horribly wrong -- though as you say, there's still lots of potential for disaster. The next chapter should be up soon, so you'll get to see how things go ... Thanks for reviewing! :)
woo hoo! See, I knew it would be good! She got all the answers she needed in under a minute. Too funny. Now she knows how to read everything he says, pretty much if she applies this without the charm later. When he says one thing he almost always means something else.
Response from linlawless (Author of Witchy Woman)
Hehehe, that's why this seemed a particularly appropriate spell to use in a relationship with him. You'll soon see what she learned about his thoughts -- the sort of thoughts he would never dream of saying out loud to her at this point in their relationship. :D Thanks for the review!
Looks like the spell worked, well, like a charm. Although, I think she really confused poor Severus by not responding to what he actually said out loud. I hope he won't be angry that she used the charm once he finds out, and we know he eventually will. Just like he did with the chairs. But I'm sure she'll come clean. She did the last time because she couldn't stand the idea of using a spell on him without his knowledge. But in her defense, she was desparate. I think a spell like that would come in very handy in my relationship.
Response from linlawless (Author of Witchy Woman)
Yes, Severus is mystified, isn't he? (But then, he was already pretty confused before). I would LOVE to have a spell like that available -- though I'd probably use it on my mother first! ;) Thanks for the review! :D
Hmmm ... maybe Ginny really was on to something. I certainly hope this doesn't all blow up in Hermione's face. Maybe it would have been better to just lock them in a room and not let them out until they had worked things out. Can't wait to see what is in store for them. I certainly hope that Severus isn't mad if he finds out she used magic again.
Response from linlawless (Author of Witchy Woman)
If Hermione the muggle-born had been thinking clearly, she might have come up with a magic-free way to handle it, but I have to figure Ginny the pureblood would look to magic first, and Hermione's too messed up in the head to think of other ideas ... More shall be posted soon. Thanks for the review! :)
