I am a grateful fan of Ms. Rowling and of her overwhelming Byronic Character, Severus Snape! Please check out the first chapters of each fic (except for "How Can I Tell You," which is on Chapter 2) to see pictures of the Heroines.
Admins' Note: Livvy6 died suddenly on February 22, 2012, leaving behind her husband, six-year-old daughter, and seventeen stories well-loved by the TPP community. All who knew her—including those in Harry Potter fandom and all of us, here—are richer for having known her.
Requiescat in pace, Livvy. Always.
Reviews for Longing
My heart breaks for Hermione feeling that she is so unworthy of the attentions of men and boys. This is really touching home as I have a daughter who like her is smart and beautiful but seems to be completely ingnored by the 'boys' with the exception of helping them with school work. Ouch. Luckily she likes herself enough not to mutilate her body. I hope Hermione will learn to value and love herself, and not just because Severus does.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Longing)
That is going to be the big step for Hermione to come to-that she is beautiful no matter what anyone says to her, because her personal truth has to mean more to her than what others say. She will have to accept her own value. Thanks,Livvy

Oh, Severus! He's helping her!! That was beautifully done-- especially his internal thoughts and feelings. Look forward to more!
Response from livvy6 (Author of Longing)
Thank you, there will be more of that, Snape trying to be there for her, struggling to open up, failing and succeeding until he can win her trust. Thanks!Livvy

More please. The poor thing. Severus is right that the idiot boys will see how beautiful she is eventually, but that doesn't help her now. Hopefully she will believe Severus and not cut herself again. I'm glad he finally decided to tell her something!
Response from livvy6 (Author of Longing)
He will be saying more-much more. I wish I could say more, but I can't yet. Just know that Snape will be working hard to prove himself to be worthy of her. Thanks,Livvy

Now that Severus has allowed kindness to cross his lips and Hermione has been forced to hear the truth can we hope they will both begin the journey of healing?
Response from livvy6 (Author of Longing)
That's the plan, but next chapter will find a bump in the road. Hope you find the turn of events interesting. Thanks,Livvy

The old adage 'Take what you want says God, but pay for it.' comes to mind. Severus wished to retain his snarky exterior to Hermione's detriment, now he pays by ensuring her safety. Delving into a teenage girl's psyche will either make him a better person...or drive him insane. I look forward to what you have in store for him.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Longing)
LOL! He will have a good excuse for going insane if he chooses, but Hermione will only be a part of it. I hope you like the next chapter, it's going to be BIG!Thanks,Livvy

It is very emotionaly compact chapter and it hurts me that my suspicion of Hremione healing is truthful . It will take a thrue effort , patience and will from Severus to bring her back.I love your stoy much more now that maps is open ,and will you please keep the ritam because I can wait for more.

Very nicely done. I like that you've shown a good mix of those who are sympathetic, and those who are cruel. Very true to life. The Krum explaination was really unique. I've never seen anyone use their story like that. Well done!

Talk about communication breakdown. If he had been more honest with her and himself, things could have been so different.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Longing)
Yeah, for real, but of course, this is Snape, the master of miscommunication! Thanks,Livvy

These last four paragraphs are some of the most telling and powerful I have read in this SSHG ship:He stepped closer to her, their bodies almost touching. “You need to decide, Miss Granger, what it is you really want. Is it the true desire of knowing what it would be like to lie under me, having me possess you? Or do you just want to be proud in the fact that you have brought me to my knees full of longing that you never intend to satisfy? I have declared my love for you; I have healed your wounds and have taken the responsibility for them. Do you want to slice into me? Take your pound of flesh? It’s a dangerous game you play, Hermione,” he said icily. She looked up at him with clear eyes and said unflinchingly, “I want to make love to you and for you to make love to me. I want for us to not only let our passions decide when that time will happen, as you pointed out, like sixth-years. I want the pride, and I want the possession. I want it all, and I will not take anything less than everything. I don’t really know you. I would like to know exactly to whom it is that I’m making love. Not a fantasy and not a dream. It takes time. I-I haven’t ever called you by your first name!”He raised a hand to stroke her hair. “Then call me by my name, Hermione,” he said plainly. He turned and went back to check on the potions. When he looked up again, she was gone.
Severus and Hermione both spoke truthfully and with unerring insight about what they need to know about the other's feelings and intentions. I imagine that as each of them thinks back on what happened between them, they will begin to know what is required of each of them before they will be able to trust enough to complete their joining.I'm glad that they had this interlude... for Severus to declare his love for her, and for her to realize that she still wants him... but they needed to slow down. Severus was right that Hermione deserves better than for her virginity to be taken on a cold floor. Now there can be no doubt that each is able to arouse passion in the other, and that making love to one another is something they both desire.
It will take time and much soul searching before they know themselves and each other well enough to come together in a love that is built on a solid foundation, that can withstand the vagaries of life, but they have made a beginning and have taken their fisrt steps on their journey of discovery.Well done. livvy!!!A Thousand Points to Your House! You always leave the best reviews! I'm so glad you caught that "line in the sand bit." They both are expressing their fears and wants and are wary of the other's honesty. After all, He did her dirty and he knows she would be right in doing him dirty in return, so he's scared.Hermione wants him to see her. That was all she ever wanted was for him to see that. "Hey, I'm eighteen! Hey, I am in the Order too! Hey, Dumbledore thinks I'm good enough to brew potions with you - will you PLEASE look at me like a woman, now?So they have it out now on the line. Who is going to muck it up first, I wonder...But unlike the last times, when things get messed up, the pride won't be there to hold them back from admitting wrongs and trying to see the other's point. Thanks!Livvy

Hermione is invited and admited in the Order. She is , so they say the brightest wich of her age, strong scharp mind , frightenigly clever , ptoud of her lineage no mather what others like Malfoy and alike may say. SO???How? How dare she think so low of her self? How dare she take for thruth such low insoult that Severus is in rush of anger, fear malice throw at her. It does not go well with me and I for one never expect her to react like that. BUT !! !She is obviously in deep hurting depresion and urgently nead help. I doubht that Harry and Ron will be able to pool her out of her state, but they might allarm the others of her state and strange behaviour. I realy hope that she will soon recover because Harry throuly need her help witch she wont be able to give if she is not well. Anxioutly waiting for more .Bay .

Yes, she has been through a lot and has stood up against prejudice over her birth and she is the brightest witch of her generation and has done so much. However, she is a young woman, who has struggled with being underappreciated, overlooked, made fun of and those things build up after a while. She is in love in Snape. It will come out just how long and the events that have happened to bring her to this point. Most people who are cutters are highly driven intelligent people who get the good grades and awards. There usually is a reason for such a need to drive oneself into the ground, the need to please by raising your hand to every question. She needs approval badly and it is so sad because she is so bright. But she loves Snape and believes what he says is true, because it usually is, he's just a prick about it.She will find her way out of this, she will and she will come to see where she has gone wrong in her thinking. As for Snape? As always nothing is for certain with him. Thanks!Livvy

I feel so badly for Hermione. I know that Severus was lashing out in his anger and frustration, saying vicious things meant to hurt, be cruel. People often do say things in anger that they don't truly mean but they just want to make the other person hurt. But for her to hear these awful things from someone she respects, looks up to, even had romantic feelings for is heartbreakingly brutal. Looking forward to updates, can't wait to see where this goes.

I like the contrast that you've set up here. Hermione with her defensive walls crumbling, and Severus primed to attack just to keep himself from falling apart.

You did a brilliant job here! Scenes like that tend to become 'too much', but you handled it perfectly, showing Hermione's pain. Both Hermione and Severus are hurt badly. I guess many of your readers will blame Severus for Hermione's condition, and of course they are right. But he is hurting too.“You are an unmitigated bastard!” she seethed. “Was there any doubt?” he retorted with a wry smile. He'd do just about anything to hide his own vulnerability.Thank you very, very much for sharing this story. It is truly beautiful. /M

"The blood running out was her anger, ugliness, and powerlessness."I have felt that before, the one time (and on time only, thankfully) that I cut myself. I know how she feels, to be told that your hideous. Its so dreadfully painfull.I let words do the talking now, not scars and blood.I hope Snape faces up to what he has done, and gets off his high-horse to realise that she is hurting from what he saidCan't wait for the next chapter. I really do like this story.

oh my poor darling. . . I couldn't even take the pain so I never tried it, but I have spot on my wrist where finger nails worked a little too well. May she find a friend to help her through this.

A part of what Hermione will be doing is keeping this secret. She's been told by Dumbledore she can't talk about it, so she is going to use this as a means of getting control over her life. But she will eventually be found out and then that is going to be one humbling day for Severus Snape. Thanks for reviewing,Livvy
