Variety Challenge first runner up. Hermione Granger is given a Time-Turner and instructions to use it. Only, using a Time-Turner can be a little tricky if not used correctly: a mistake made in counting or a slip of fingers can make the user jump irregularly and thus she could accidentally alter her time line. And when such an accident happens, Severus Snape uses Hermione’s Time-Turner in order to fix a horrific wrong. However, it’s his younger self that becomes the one who must ensure that history is not altered.

I love to write. A dreamer, a creator and filled with wonder, imagination and life. Sometimes I get lost in the other worlds I've read and in some I create. It's all good, I’m in good company.
“Imagination does not become great until human beings, given the courage and the strength, use it to create.”― Maria Montessori
“Our imagination flies -- we are its shadow on the earth.”― Vladimir Nabokov
“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions.”― Albert Einstein
“Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were, but without it we go nowhere.” ― Carl Sagan

Another awesome chapter. I stayed up late to read it. Thank you for explaining things in your a/n. I can't wait to read Severus and Hermione dueling.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. i hope staying up to read it doesn't effect your work tomorrow? To me that's quite a compliment - that you would stay up to read my chapter. You are very welcome for the explanation in the a/n. Since this cahpter focus on the timelines rather than the jumps and the casual mention I made of the diary enteries, I thougt it only fair to list the timelines out. I'm glad it helped. Thank you very much for the review, and you'll have dueling - loads of dueling. lol.
I don't care a whole lot about figuring out timelines, which allows me to enjoy the story without getting a headache :) There were a few glaring canon errors that jumped out at me that I feel compelled to point out. 1) You say that Dobby was freed in their first year when it was actually the second. And 2) you mention Lockhart teaching them in third year which was also actually the second. Another thing that popped out, although not canon related was Hermione's references to feet per second. As they are in Britain, it would seem more likely that they would use the metric meters per second. That's all. The story line is still very compelling and I look forward to the next installment.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you for pointing out the errors. They've been fixed.
You've spent a lot of time working out those timeline details. Do you have your own Time-Turner? :D
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Oh gods I wish!! Wouldnt' that be awesome to have one, sunny? However, I do this the Muggle way - I have loads of paper, pen, quill, colored inks, hightlighters and a really good alpha reader. lol But yes, I have a diagram and chart in my folder for this story which I use to keep it all straight. Thank you for reading and for the review. Hugs
faboo update. love this story and thanks for the timeline precis. thanks and smoochies
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. You are very welcome. Thank you for reading and for the review. Hugs and smoochies back.
That was really cool. And I love your time loop explanation.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. I just didn't want anyone getting lost, confused or turned around. lol Besides, I thought it would help. lol Thank you very much for the review.
Thank you for the update! Interesting twist with the mentioning of the Time Turner, and with it being in his desk drawer it should prove most helpful after future canon events!Looking forward to seeing what happens next!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
You are very welcome. Well, I didn't want you to forget that he has it, now did I? Considering I still plan on having it come into play later. lol Hope to have the next out to you soon. Thank you for the review.
Awesome chapter!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much.
Such a long wait! I hope we don't have to wait so long for the next chapter. Yay for deviations in canon! Deviations mean Severus can live.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Sorry about that. Nope I have the next chapter ready for my betas to clean up, so once that's done - I'll submit it! Yes, deviations... some deviations. :D Hope you like them. (*as if I would off him - geeeeze!) Thank you for the review.
Very exciting chapter! As much as I dislike Sirius, perhaps your story will let Sirius live, as I hope Hermione will remind him there are safer ways to contact Sirius to confirm he is not in Voldy's hands. And perhaps Harry will actually listen to his Occlumency lessons. Thank you for the new chapter!!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. I haven't decided about Sirius actually. Maybe I should take a toll. rotfl Oh, and the Occlumency lessons, teehehe yeah, those. snerk. Well... You are very welcome for the chapter. Thank you for the review.
Response from June W (Reviewer)
Oh, I wouldn't mind a dead Sirius. But the loss of all those prophecies and the Time-Turners -- yeah, I'm more concerned about those. Muahaha.....
I loved the faculty meeting! That was a great New Year's gift, thanks for updating.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
LOL It was fun to writte too. Happy New Year to you and you're very welcome. Thanks for the review.
Okay, just as I was getting excited about a little H/S interaction - a detention, no less - we're at the end of the chapter. With an evil little cliff, too. So, what's written in the diary? How will you be deviating from canon in the next chapters? The black swan quill AND the time turner are mentioned again. What's happening next? I feel like Tiny Tim, 'more, please?'Thanks for the update. I'll consider this our New Year's gift. But, as I am quite gready, give me more! Please?
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Oh,
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
, did you really want answers? Yes, plenty more SS/HG interaction coming. (as well as sneaking around and such) snerk, yeah, a detention, ah uh. Sorry about the cliffie, I'll try to solve that soon. Diary - everything. and more. deviating - well, that's somewhat obvious, isn't it? But next chapter should make it a bit more clear. Yep, didn't want you to forget that he had them. Ooooh, well you see he... Thank you very much for the review, I'll answer that in a bit, ok?
Hmm. What's Sev up to? :)
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
ahhhh, you'll have to wait and see? sorry. But I hope to have it up soon, if that's a help? Thank you for reading and for the review.
great, a new chapter and a good one. I looks as Severus will be more active and maybe the other teachers as well. Looking forward to following where you will lead us. And Severus has a plan to twart Voldemort, great
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Well, at least behind the scenes. lol But yes, there will be plenty of fun ahead. If you like breaking the rules, fireworks, bruises, and centaurs and such. lol Thank you very much for the review.
Yea another chapter. Please hurry with more updates. I love how this chapter was mostly from Severus' point of view. Now we really know how he feels about Umbridge.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Okay, I'l see what I can do to hurry up the process. I do have some more written and have the next chapter in the beta part of the process. Yep, this one was mostly him, and his side of things. He feels about Umbridge about as highly as a flubberworm's entrails - useless. lol Thank you very much for the review.
Ooh, a detention.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Snerk. Yeah, a detention. ;)
faboo updates! thanks and smoochies
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. You're very welcome for the update - I have another I think will be ready soon.
You always do a nice job at following the events of canon, but adding a little flair here and there. There are some nice moments between Snape and Hermione, but I wish he were able to relax a little bit, not always under the watchful eye of someone. I don't think at this point that they should be romantically involved, but it would do them some good to be able to enjoy and easy friendship. Maybe there will be a way before long... *is hopeful*
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much for the nice compliment. I try - really, I do. Oh, there will be those moments, but not in a house full of Weasleys, and Black. lol No, I don't mean romantic interludes - not in 5th year! But there will be interaction. I'm busily typing away and figuring out just how to do it and keep as much of canon as I can to give you what I have in mind. It means, I'm reading OoTP all over again, (I know - such glorious torture) so that I can get it right and keep in tack what needs to be in place. lol So, forgive me if there is a delay in posting.
First, congratulations on penning such a fabulous story. The plot is wonderful and the characters so complicated. Sirius is really bad in this story isn't he? Will Harry become more involved in the action?
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. In regards to Sirius, he and Severus are not friends, at all, never. It's the old rivalry all over again. With Harry, he's the wanna-be-teen again. So I don't paint him to be a swell guy, no. Yes, Harry shows up in the next chapter, but this is a SS/HG story so Hermione is more prevalent than Harry in this one. Thank you very much for the compliment and the review. Hugs~
What a fabulous update! You've got so much detail in this chapter, and the description of what happened during that summer while Harry was stuck at the Dursleys is amazing. Kudos for it all.I'm glad that Hermione is wise to Sirius' attempts to charm his way into her good graces. He really is a bad sort, and I was relieved to see that even Ginny sees through his little act. I cheered when Severus threw him out of the library. Yay! He was crusin' for a bruisin' and Severus gave it to him, but I'm sure that's not the last we've seen of Sirius' trouble-making.When Severus almost called Hermione by her given name, I got the biggest grin on my face. I'm sure she must have caught that slip, bright witch that she is. I wonder if anyone else caught it, too?Hermione's reaction to realizing that Severus is a member of the Order was wonderful and realistic. And when she found out that she would be working with him to rid the library of its infestation, I could feel her delight. Even though he is still being the stern Potions master, he is clearly interested in seeing that she learns as many things as he can teach her.I am so looking forward to the next chapter... and the one after that... and the one after that...Beth
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. since I'll be skipping rehashing the time when Harry is at Grimmauld Place (you've read that already, right, in the books) I thought a bit more outside-the-Harry-filter was in order. I'm not painting Sirius as a great guy, no, but them he's not exactly a 'nice guy to Severus at all. Yes, even Ginny (she does live in the house and sees what's going on) is getting tired of it all. lol Yep, he made a Freudian slip ? lol and I'm glad that her reactions were believable. Actually, his actions were not so much as teaching as trust. He trusted her to follow directions and know the risks. I'm busily on one, to get it all how I want it, while the next chapter is for beta clean up so it can pass the strict rules of the site.
The first review I left was a total mess! So Sorry. I'd had problems with my computer which turned out to be mostly problems with my keyboard... sticky keys and other stuff I never figured out. As for what "kjjjjjjjjkjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj,thousand-j m" means... I have no idea. I'm blaming it all on the keyboard and some funky browser behavior. I even tried to respond you what you'd written in your reply, but I didn't even get the text box where I could type anything. But I'm gonna try to review this chapter again:I want to just take Severus and hold him and tell him that everything will be okay... Bea is on the case. I'm loving the way Severus continues to help Harry by helping Hermione. His feelings for her seem to grow stronger every day!I read in your reply to my other review that Severus isn't having romantic feelings for her (yet). How could I forget she is still his adolescent student. I guess I was channeling her saying goodbye to him the last time she returned to her own time from his past. They had been so close, and I just got ahead of things. Thanks for setting me straight!I hope that Severus can come to terms with his return to the Dark Lord. I don't think he has betrayed either Dumbledore or Hermione, but I can see how the utter futility of his situation that he must feel would make those thoughts go through his mind. It would remind him of Lily and her death and the responsibility he feels.Great work, Bea! Now I'm off to the next chapter.Hugs, Beth
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
There is some feeling, but it's for the little girl who accepted him - but there has been all those years in between for him to grow distant and put things in perspective. He cares, but it's his own tendency for protecting that comes out, and the memory of that little friend he had - now in front of him and under his protection all over again. It's not romantic. not with her at only 15 years old. Oh yes, again it is a duty, a promise and a necessary role. He'll be fine. Thank you for the review.
the way he's taunted Severus for years! Glad she sees that. Hope she sees more!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Yeah, Hermione is very aware on how Sirius(that's the he, right?) treats Severus. Oh, yes, she'll see loads more. lol Thank you for the review.
I completely concur with Snapesbeatrice's review - (as if this even needed to be done). Well stated.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much.
[Please refer to Ch 22 review on 7/20/2010]Chapter 22 returned via owl by Professor Severus Snape to Beaweasley_2. The following appears in red, slash-like handwriting:Plot = Highly detailed, accurate account of addressing Grimmauld Place pest problem. Accuracy re security issues. Good grasp of Silverian Potion history, ingredients and legal status. Exceeds ExpectationsCharacterizations = EE for accuracy in Miss Granger's annoying tendency to recite from memory contents of every book she's read. Excellent descriptions of Molly Weasley's tenacious mothering and housekeeping skills; security-mindedness of Dumbledore, A Weasley, Moody and Yours Truly; the Granger parents constantly pulled by their daughter's split role between Muggle and wizarding worlds. A Dreadful for failing to fully portray S Black as the backstabbing, petulant, conniving, self-serving and insolently imperious imbecile that he is. Add murderously self-centered to that list.Grammar: EE - Am suspicious that Miss Granger had a hand in this ...Originality: O - I am confident that Miss Granger could not have contributed. Overall: Outstanding.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Dear Severus, I am deeply touched that you'd take the time toevaluate my chapter. An EE with a O overall! wow. Thank you.No, I credit my beta's for their hard work, because believe me, they deserve it. I have a love of research, and insectsfascinate me as do Potions. I didn't have the privilege to have you as a professor, though. I also love magical creatures. In regards to Sirius, he's everything you've said and then some. He's a wanna-be-teen so he can-relive-his-school-years type of guy, and a reckless, cocky prat too. I'm so glad that you think my characterizations are realistic - I'm an observer of people, and as such, try toportray them as I see them. You're EE on my descriptions means a lot.Thank you again for your review and I hope my future chapters meet your approval.Sincerely, bea ps give my best to snapesbeatice and thank her for the lovely review. Hugs~
Response from snapesbeatrice (Reviewer)
Miss Beaweasley_2:When writing for the media, it would behoove you to portray your subjects truthfully, not as you "see" them. Some have unwisely sought to escape libel suits by labeling such stories as "fictitious" or "fanfic." I prefer active means of addressing such problems rather than resorting to paper-pushing solicitors. Please inform Miss Granger--who surely is among your advisers--that any unfortunate advice she may offer you will be punishable by detention. By that I do not mean some cushy tea-slurping visit with Hagrid. You do have a firm grasp on S Black and, I suspect, may know how to deal with such bullies. You might consider applying for the Headmaster position at Hogwarts. The pay is poor but the food is good and there is ample opportunity to work off one's frustrations. Be assured, I no longer have any interest in the post. You teeter on being assigned your own detention with me. You have yet to submit a new chapter, making you quite tardy, indeed. Once a new scroll is received, I will further consider whether to grant you a detention. ~deep chuckle as he writes~Professor Severus Snape
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Dear Professor Snape, I have the next scroll on my lap top even as I am typing this, giving it one more thorough look over before send it to my betas. I hope that you'll have a copy soon, but the editing process for posting can sometimes be daunting.Hugsbeaweasley2
Yea another chapter. :) I am doing a happy dance right now. This was a really good chapter for the start of 5th year. You really fleshed it out with lots of info, I loved the bickering between Severus and Sirus, and I really liked how Hermione came to Severus' aide so to speak. Please, Please update soon.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. Yep had a bit of fun playing with the animosity between Severus and Sirius and how both girls were able to see what was really going on. I'm busily and while the next chapter is in the clean up beta phase so that it will pass mods inspection. I hope to get it to you soon. Thank you for the review.
Excellent, as always, I await your next installment.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. The next chapter is in the beta-clean up-so-the-mods-will-accept-it phase. I hope to be able to share it with you soon.
