Variety Challenge first runner up. Hermione Granger is given a Time-Turner and instructions to use it. Only, using a Time-Turner can be a little tricky if not used correctly: a mistake made in counting or a slip of fingers can make the user jump irregularly and thus she could accidentally alter her time line. And when such an accident happens, Severus Snape uses Hermione’s Time-Turner in order to fix a horrific wrong. However, it’s his younger self that becomes the one who must ensure that history is not altered.

I love to write. A dreamer, a creator and filled with wonder, imagination and life. Sometimes I get lost in the other worlds I've read and in some I create. It's all good, I’m in good company.

Reviews for Consequences of Meddling with Time
Poor Severus! First he practically bludgeons Hermione over the head with the fact that he can't be her friend as an adult the way he was in the past as a fellow student, then he has the nerve to get upset when she spends time with Viktor Krum! At least he figured out the physical resemblance between the two of them, and maybe that will allow him to realize that Hermione is just trying subconsciously to find a replacement for him. She may be too young for him now, but that won't necessarily be the case in a few more years. Severus needs to remember that he's a Slytherin and start taking the long view of things! Keep her as a friend now, so that he can make an easier transition to something more once she becomes an adult...I am so enjoying this story, and can't wait until the next chapter!

Indigo, I really love your assessment, because you are so right! He’s not sure what he wants, but if he did, he thinks can’t have it. She won’t be too young forever, but he thinks she is, and that will be hard for him. And yes, he is noticing that she’s choosing a guy that resembles him, although he still thinks she’s also interested in Harry or Ron. I’m so glad that you are enjoying this one so much. Thank you for the review and the pretty stars.
Interesting chapter and a jealous Severus. Wonderful job! Keep up the great work.~Jen

Thank you very much. Yep, only he's not realizing it yet. teehehe Thank yyou very much for the reveiw and the pretty stars.
It's almost as if he hasn't grown up since he was in school. The way he pines for her, get jealous of Krum, ignors her out of spite, then reminds himself that he is too old for her anyway...Then he throws all of that nonsense out the window as he prepares her for the Lake.I wish she could sense his true feelings. Then it would only be a matter of waiting for her to reach adulthood.I love this story.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Oh, Clay, you've hit it on the head. At this point, Hermione isn't looking for it - that sign that the friend she made with him is still wanting her friendship or more. She's got so much more to worry about and she's still a bit young. I'm very flattered that you like the story. Thank you very much for the review and the stars.
I'm sure it's not pure hazard that Severus is taking care of Hermione before the second task.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Nope it's not. teehehe He couldn't simply stand by and let someone else give her the potions... Thank you so much for the review.
Really good chapter. I found your version of events really interesting.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much.
This story is quite interesting. I can't wait to see what awaits our characters next. Are you planning on recapping the fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh books in this story to some extent in the coming chapters? I'm curious. Update again soon! ~Jen

Well, GoF-year is covered in chapters 19, 20 and 21. and I'm writing the OoTP-years and there are some definate changes, some ripple effects caused by Hermione's time spent living with teenSeverus. So in a way, yes, this year in particular is going to be somewhat different than the books, and have a few surprises. My beta has chapter 20 and 21 so as soon as I get them back - so will you.
I think your changes are just fine. This isn't about rehashing the books afterall, so you slip in your own take on things as much as you like.I knew he couldn't stay mad forever, and am glad that he decided to extend an olive branch, in is own way. It certainly can't hurt Harry to have Snape on his side during the tornament, so long as Harmione can find a way to explain things without mentioning his name.Looking forward to the drama that will surely accompany year four!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you. I think the fun of it is really going to come out in my OoTP-year chapters. I’m taking some big liberties… ripple effects from her stay with him the past will keep on showing up.
It’s not so much as his staying mad, our guy can really carry a grudge. But there is this vow to Dumbledore, and it’s not like Severus can sit Harry down and talk to him, the boy would go right out and do it anyway to spite him. So he used Hermione to help keep the boy alive. At least she listened. But the incident of the Shack will come up again at some point. So we have the rest of the year to get through, although I’m working on OoTP-year’s chapters. As soon as I get 20 and 21 back from my beta – you have them. Thank you for the review and the pretty stars. Hugs~I like the idea of Snape taking an active role in helping Harry. He just couldn't be seen to do so, but with an ally... Very nicely done.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Yes well that thrice damn vow to Dumbledore to ‘keep Potter alive until the final confrontation’ was really put to the test that year. It’s not like I was going to sit the dunderhead down and say, “Now look, idiot, you can’t…” the arrogant boy would go right out and do it to spite me. Now, Severus, I thought you wanted to say hi to
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
? Hi. At least Miss Granger listens. Severus... What? She did. Potter would get that defiant look in his eyes… We’re supposed to be thanking
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
for the review. Thank you. Do you think I could have my way with her? Makaem? Or Umbridge? Umbridge! Don’t make me sick. Severus… Severus...?Oh, well. Thank you very much for the review, doll. I think I have to go make up for mentioning Umbridge. (Its the chapter I'm working on, you see, and my Severus-muse, well, he's pointed out a few things. She was a pill that year. You’ll see!) (sorry in a very silly mood this morning)
Brilliant as always, bea. I'm relieved that Severus isn't holding the end of 3rd year against her anymore. After all, Lily turned on him and never looked back. Hermione had her reasons and tried repeatedly to beg his forgiveness, but he wouldn't let her. Not the same at all. At least he finally is beginning to realize it.They'll work things out eventually. I have faith in you.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. Well, necessity bred tollerance and her attitude toward him hasn't changed - so there is some slack. (The teeth comment - ment to hurt, but then he made her cry...) I'm sure Madam Pomprey requested the potion - but the little additive to keep her teeth white, ahem, , that was his doing, totally. So he hasn't exactly forgiven as much as is relying on her to help keep Potter alive. His promice to Dumbledore... Potter must live to face Volde. Look for some tension issues when I get to the OoTP-year. It will be longer, because there is, well, I have plans then-in those, you'll see.Sorry ranting when I really wanted to say - Thank you for the vote of confidence. I'll do my best and at least the muses are cooperating with me on this one. Hugs~ Oh, and thank you for the review.
Oh, an update! Thank you! I love this story. The teenage Severus was so well written, but I like the way you put a different spin on adult Snape's behavior during the "teeth growing incident." It is much nicer than canon, although I guess it is different this time around. (Time travel is so confusing.) Please update!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
You are most welcome. I had a lot of fun typing teenage Severus. The teeth incident is canon, and he hasn't totally forgiven her for the Shack incident. and I'm sure that Madam Pomfrey requested the potion, but the whitening additive was totally his - see, he was sorry he made her cry. Having gotten to know her as a teen will have some lingering affects - later... You'll see.Email me if you are confused on the time travel stuff. I'll be happy to help sort it out for you. Pretty much things are on track (canon sort of) but you'll see some differences. espcially in the OoTP-year! Oh, and thank you very much for reading and for the review and pretty stars! Hugs~
i missed reading this. i wish there were more updates. please update soon! please?
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Hi, I'm glad that you found my little story. I have all three chapters for the GoF year, (the next two are still with my beta and I'm working on my OoTP year currently) and as soon as I get them back - I'll happily update! I'm very happy you are enjoying it. Thank you for the review.
Brava! I love how you combined your plot with parts from The Goblet of Fire! Very cool!I hope his "I see no difference" remarks about Hermione's teeth was role playing for the benefit of the people who were present in the hallway. I rather think it was because he brewed the mouthwash for her and told her just how to care for her new teeth. I really liked the compliments he paid her while visiting her in the hospital wing. She can certainly exasperate him, but he can't stay made at her forever.I also like that Severus has begun to talk to Hermione and to help her help Harry. I think Harry is going to need all the help he can get! Can't wait for the next chapter, Bea!Beth

Thank you brayer, I didn't want to rehash the book, but show more 'what else is going on' with SS POV and HG's POV. You'll see more as I bounce through the years. (More or less doing HBP and Dh too in the same manner, briefly.)The comment was canon, and I kept it. The mouthwash was likely requested by Madam Pomfrey - but the added ingredients to keep her teeth white I'm sure was his idea, a way to appologize. I don't think he's mad at her, but trying to keep his distintion as a authority figure.Severus isn't likely to offer haelp to Harry, that would be cheating - but going through Hermione isn't, in his mind. Besides, she is more receptive to his assistance and sees it for what it is - help.I'm just waiting for my beta to send back 20 and 21 so I can update. Thank you so much for the review, doll. Hugs~
It so sweet of him to help her, first with the mouth wash and then by advising theirplzn with the Dragon. But I miss teen Severus.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Yes, he's trying. Sorry time for him has gone forward and he's a man now. I miss typing teen Severus too. Thank you for the review.
Bravo, this was another brilliant chapter. I loved how you combined both your story with the actual GOF book. I can't wait to see how you handle the Yule Ball. I am sure that Severus will rear his uniquely(sp) jealous head.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. GOf in 3 chapters! So you'll see more SS + HG interaction. Thank you for the review,
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
, and the pretty stars.
'm quite happy to have the dragon task method come from Severus instead of faux-Moody. Very nice to see Severus sneakily helping Hermione and Harry. Thanks for the new chapter!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Moody may have still given Harry the advice to 'play to his strengths,' but Severus is the one Hermione turned to for confirmation. Considering they have a history, and she is folowing his advice, yes, he's being nicer. You are very welcome for the update. Thank you for the review and the pretty stars.
Oh, my. I like that they found a way to communicate better.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
He is trying to keep the boy alive and Hermione is doing what he tells her. But yes, he is being nicer to her. Thank you for the review and the pretty stars.
Awww. He's helping her and being nice. :)
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Yes, he's doing what he can to ensure Harry survives, and he is nicer to her. But then she is doing what he wants her to be doing, too. lol Thank you for the review, sunny.
OMG...I am so glad I found this story on this website.I've been trying to catch up for days now and here I am...My laundry has been waiting all morning long...It's a great story. I actually cried a bit at this last chapter...are you going to skip a few years... or how will you transition forward???Will you discount the last book? Cant wait to see what you have planned for us!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Oh dear, I'm so sorry about the laundry! I'm flattered that you are reading my story and I'm glad you like it!Yes, I know that the first chapter was very sad, but something had to make Severus risk going back in time to see himself - er - younger self. I was going to do this huge skip over 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th years (cuz I have this whole thing something great happening I don't want to say and spoil it) - but one of my beta's asked my why and a few readers wanted transistion, (yes, I caved) plus I have the time (no deadline looming over my head ) so there is book coverage. Besides, I'm having fun typing how Hermione's trip back has caused 'little' changes and developments. Interactions. teeheheNo, I'm not discounting the last book, DH happens. You'll see. But Don't ever expect me to acknowledge the last few pages (I un-affectionately call the misprints) There will be a rating change as the story gets closer to the war, and such... but I ain't admittin' nothin'!Does that help? Hugs~
I love this story thanks
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
You are very welcome.
I always feel so very sorry for Severus when Hermione goes back to her time. Its like he is loosing his best friend and confidant. How typically Hermione to be upset because he wouldn't tell her more about his studies.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Yes, its sad to lose someone you can so easily relate to. She isn't seeing that he distancing himself for the hurt. Thank you so much for the review, shadow.
beautiful! of course, she is too young for him still. but the best romances start out as friendships. lovely update. thanks and mucho smoochies
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you, kimjo. Yes, the best ones do, son't they? Thank you so much for the review, doll.
What a nice chapter. I expected there to be more fallout after the way they parted. I can see the situation from both perspectives. They really can't feasibly be friends. And yet, he found a way for them to spend time together, just like they used to, without an ounce of impropriety. I hope it is enough for her... at least for now. Really looking forward to more!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. In this timeline, Severus has had 17 years to rationalize things out and ever since seeing Hermione as his student - he's been 'ready' to handle this 'situation'. Yes, he did find a way. Thank you, and thank you for the review and the pretty stars,
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)

Squee! I just love your stories, and this one is particularly clever. Just saw that there's another chapter up, and can barely wait to copy and read!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you. I really appreciate your support! I'm glad that you enjoy my stories, that warms my heart. I'm working on chapter 17, so hopefully, you'll have that sometime soon. Hugs~
Great chapter!Everytime I receive an e-mail with a CoMwT update I get happy!

Thank you very much. That is such a compliment. I love making people smile. Thank you so much for the review.

The best way to thank me is a new chapter! :)
