Variety Challenge first runner up. Hermione Granger is given a Time-Turner and instructions to use it. Only, using a Time-Turner can be a little tricky if not used correctly: a mistake made in counting or a slip of fingers can make the user jump irregularly and thus she could accidentally alter her time line. And when such an accident happens, Severus Snape uses Hermione’s Time-Turner in order to fix a horrific wrong. However, it’s his younger self that becomes the one who must ensure that history is not altered.

I love to write. A dreamer, a creator and filled with wonder, imagination and life. Sometimes I get lost in the other worlds I've read and in some I create. It's all good, I’m in good company.

I love this story
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you, and thanks for the pretty stars.
It's so cute he doesn't want her to go. And he managed to make her rub his back...several times. Now, isn't it dangerous that he knows about Lupin. As they have agreed, anything he knows about the future can change it, so I wonder.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Nope, he isn't ready to say good-bye. Well, she did volunteer after all, and it did help heal him. Yes, he knows about Lupin, but in PoA he was rather suspecious of Lupin already. You'll have to wait until Hermione goes back to see what changes of anything. Thank you for the review and the pretty stars.
Love that she used his own liniment on him, and he had no idea what was in it because he hasn't invented it yet! :)
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
LOL Thanks. Yep, one of those little circles that happens with time travel. Thank you for the review.
Hmm, he manages to get repeat back rubs off her using a potion he's yet to create. Smart boy!Its kind of cute he's trying to rationalise how long he can get her to overstay. He really does seem to like her.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
LOL Yep, lucky guy. Yes, he likes her and she him. It's like meeting someone at camp or over the summer holiday. It's tough saying good-bye to someone you've grown fond of, even just a good friend. Thank you for the review and the pretty stars.
I think it is cute that he doesn't want her to go.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Yeah, well, it's like losing a friend - and that would suck. lol Thank you for the review and the pretty stars.
superb update! loved seeing how they worked together on refining the potions. faboo story. thanks and smoochies
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. Yep, they really do work well together. Thank you for the review and the smoochies!
Straddling his hips hmmm? Very nice. And what's he going to do with this knowledge of Lupin being a teacher? Interesting.I'm betting he's going to use Hermione as his backup to get the mushrooms. I wonder if they'll use the Polyjuice again? He's not going to send her back at the right time and it's going to mess things up. But hopefully in a good way...I wonder why she only went back three times. I am very anxious to see where you go with this in the correct time period. How many years before he makes his move? When she's grown up? That's such a long time to wait, poor man.As always, I love this story. I look forward to more.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Easiest way to give a back rub, straddling hips = much easier to use both hands evenly. In PoA he wasn't overly fond, trusting of Lupin, but you'll have to wait until Hermione returns to see if there's any changes. lolHmm, can't answer this one. next. The Time-Turner has a 'return feature' built into it. It will take her back to the same time she left. That's why Dumbledore feels comfortable in letting Hermione use it, even though she's making so many errors/back jumps.Oh doll, she didn't! Here's a basic outline of the jumps and the timelines.HG1. mentioned in first chapter - she died. Timeline #1.SS1. Snape goes back to change the timeline, meets himself. (still timeline#1)HG3. Severus hides Hermione, (new timeline #2)HG4. & HG5. Hermione makes 2 more jumps in which she ends up meeting Harry's parents and thier friends. (still timeline #2)SS2. Snape goes back to see his teenage self, to change timeline. He tells Sev where Hermione appeared in jumps HG4 and HG5. (Still Timeline #2)HG6 Severus intercepts Hermione and hides her. (changing the timeline - timeline #3) HG7 Severus nabs Hermione and hides her. (this last one)HG8... oops. well, now you know.I intend to cover the next four books, but only the parts that changes, fluxuated or that are HG/SS. But I'll not be rehashing too much, I hope. Bear with me on those chapters.Did I have to mention that this is a SS/HG fic? It will happen -- later --much later, sort of.Thank you very much for the support and kind words.
Response from Elizabeth (Reviewer)
I'm so glad you wrote out all that timeline stuff. It can get really confusing with lines crossing, dying out, etc. But I really love your story. I'm SOOOOO excited that you are going through all the years until she's an adult. Yippie! I cannot wait for more. This is the best story that I've read in a long time. You put in so much detail, and you actually show their conversations, and how they learn to trust and like each other. Too many other fics just tells us they visited and talked, but didn't show enough interactions to warrant more than lust. This is true friendship building and it really shows the characters.I am quite envious at how easily you've built these characters and mingled them together. It is my hardest point in writing, making the characters believable. But you've got it!!Thank you for the great read. I hope you post more soon. And good luck in the voting!
So did he create the balm just so she could rub it in his back one day?
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Oh that is just intriguing. It's like all the little Potions tips Professor Snape and Hermione told Severus. A contamination of the timeline. Thank you for the review and the pretty stars.
It's kind of fun to see the circular effect of these visits. He creates a balm, she brings it with her and helps him in the past. But now he knows about Lupin. Wonder if that means anything for the future?
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Yeah, i have been doing a lot of these little circles, huh? lolYep, he knows about Lupin. You'll see what that means when she returns to her time. Thank you for the review and the pretty stars.
what a facinating story! thank you soo much for writing my favorite kind (tt). smoochies!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
YOu are very welcome. I'm enjoying writing this story, especially playing with the concepts of time travel. Thank you for the review and the smoochies!
As much as I enjoyed reading this chapter, I'm sad there's not another to read, bummer. Anyway, great idea of Severus to tell Hermione that she needs to include her reasoning into her essay. The future Professor Snape will be shocked ~and pleased, I hope~ not to mention the other Professors will be more convinced of her brilliance. Thank you for including scenes of them interacting on a day to day basis, I really enjoy that. Hopefully, he can help her with her DADA work when she gets to that assignment. Looking forward to your next update, have a good week.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
What? There's more! Really! Much more. have to be betaed and cleaned up then submitted...I'm working on it! I think Professor Snape will be expecting her to preform at a higher level now, not shocked, this is his timeline afterall. The others will be shocked and pleased.Hermione may have all the time in the world, but this is Severus' timeline and he has lessons, revision, essays to turn in. So this is all done around his schedule. Thank you very much for the review and the pretty stars.
Response from FlittterKat (Reviewer)
oops, what I should have said, "more posted", lol. That's what happens when I sneak in a chapter when I'm taking a break from studying. Really, it helps clear my mind, taking a sanity break from studying. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;D
Young Severus is just so adorable. Well, grown up Severus isn't chopped liver either but I love seeing him when he can still openly laugh and enjoy the moment. I don't see how he could help but love her. Beautiful, I love it.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
I like young Severus. He's fun to write. Oh, he cares--more than he'll admit. He kept souvenirs and the diary of her visits. (slips of parchment, a leaf, and the Frog Card to name a few.) Thank you for the review and the pretty stars.
Uh oh. Mulciber is getting very suspicious. All the books Severus is taking, the Quidditch match and now Severus is going to be gone the whole night, passed out in his brewing room... I love how the two are interacting so easily together. He is himself with her as he can never be anywhere else.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Yep, his friends notice. Although, I don' think that this is the first time he's slept in his lab. lol It's fun typing them together, especially since I can type Severus ungaurded and himslef, no walls or aloofnes. Thak you for the review and the pretty stars.
awwww. i really enjoy the pace you have set. i like how things go about in ordinary day-to-day circumstances instead of something extravagent. it makes all the little actions and nuances all the more pleasureable.oooh, mulciber. i wonder what exactly is going through his mind with all his suspicions. and i wonder what will he do to try and uncover the mystery.nice to see a number of death eaters. alas hermione doesn't know them yet. however, at this moment in time she knows of the murdering azkaban escapee sirius black who seems to be gunning for harry. she also knows remus as a professor but i don't know if she figured out he is a werewolf yet. i'm hoping there would be some reaction of hermione's to this in the past. even if it is to her self and not a slip up.and i guess the order of hogwarts quidditch games is different at this time. i don't see why it can't. as in hermione's time the first game of the year was in november with slytherin vs. griffindor. slytherin didnt play hufflepuff til may at that time as well. yay regulus. oh and i really like how you abide my my rules of age for charlie. the four years bit as so it correlates with the first book and not with what jkr said sometime later.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. Evern though Hermione is out of her timeline, Severus isn't and he has lessons. So I fit everything around his 'normal' schedule. Mulciber isn't a bright bulb, and he's suspecious by nature. He had a gut feeling someone was there, couldn't see her of course, but suspected something was up. But he never found out what it was.
Pretty much I'm showing Severus' housemates and dormmates, many that we know and know what they become. Hermione doesn't know of them. She's heard about Siruis, and since she thinks he's horrible, she doesn't want to see him. Severus doesn't/hasn't mentioned Lupin around Hermione, so she hasn't made that connection yet. This jump takes place Easter week- extends for a month.Again, it's April.JKR always said she was poor at maths. Charlie had left Hogwarts in June, 1981 and Ron and Harry started Sept, 1981. That's canon. All you have to do is subtract 7! Difficult maths.Thank you very much for the review and the pretty stars.
~smile~ Like I said, he's so cute and just discovering his power of attraction. I enjoyed seeing them exchange personal information to each other. Yay, they're building a firm foundation for friendship. I hope it can carry through to the future.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
He's never had anyone to try his power of attraction on before this. He's not popular with the girls in his house and Lily is with Potter at this time in his life. Although he knows that his voice lends well to sexy-velvety smooth, Hermione is the only girl he's tried it on.They are building a foundation of friendship, but it's 17 or so years before she returns, That boy you liked when you were 17 seems much different than when you're 34, and Severus goes through a lot during that interval. Thank you for the review, I hope you like where this story goes. Thank you for the stars too.
I'm so happy to catch back up after getting back to fandom after moving. I enjoyed seeing Severus admitting he cares about Hermione and enjoys her company. Very Slytherin of him to assign her detention and use it to secretly tutor her. I love it.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Gosh, I hope the move went well and you're all situated. Yes, our guy is still his ol' snarky sneaky self, but still at this stage and at this point, she's still to young for him. That doesn't mean that he doesn't care about her or want her about. A lab partner. That's all. Thank you for the review and the pretty stars. Hope you love your new home!
Response from FlittterKat (Reviewer)
Thanks for the kind thoughts and yes I love my new home. We moved into an older neighborhood in town so I could go back to school and finish my degree. Yay, but it's cutting into my fanfiction time, bummer. I'm sneaking in your story between study breaks, just to clear my head, you understand. ;D
Oh, Mulciber suspects something - I just hope he doesn't find her out. I like Severus's slip of the tongue in regard to date - and her pretending not to have heard it.She can be very manipulating - or does she simply have him wrapped around her small finger? Mostly the two of them are in roles of mentor/pupil, but occasionally something more is shining through. Something that might be, given time.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Yes, he suspects, but then he has a suspecious nature. You like that, well, in a way it is almost like a date. Sort of. lol If it hadn't been for his friends! Well, yes she can be manipulating. No, she doesn't hav ehim wraped around her finger, but he'd been thinking of taking her outside with him anyway - the game was not on his list of things to do though. Well, it's also a bit Big brother and keeper too. Not to even at this stage.Thank you very much for the review and the pretty stars.
It's the best time-turner story I've ever read! :)
Response from funny music (Reviewer)
And I read all chapters! I don't know why I'm at first chapter.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Really? Thank you! I didn't lose you in chapter 4? or 9? lolThank you for reading and for the review, and the pretty stars.
Another lovely chapter. I'm always checking the challenges category to see if this story has been updated! He's definitely letting his guard down with hermione and they are both taking some risks letting her out and about. It hope that eventually it doesn't come back to bite them!they are certainly getting closer, even if only as friends at the moment. She's far too young for him at this stage of the game, but it will be interesting to see what happens in the future.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Aw that's so sweet of you. Thank you. SW has my next chapter so I hope it posts soon.Yes, he's not as guarded around her as he was their first week together, but then he's not as jaded and scarred as Professor Snape is either. Oh, I ahve another one planned, I think you'll like, and it's just as risky! And I have the 'future' maped out, typing away on what happens next. Thank you for reading, reviewing and the pretty stars.
That was a close one. I'm glad he didn't get snockered and try to take advantage of her. That would have been horrible.I bet when he wakes up, she will have her hands full. Hope she has a hangover potion handy! Or at least some headache medicine. LOL
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Yes, pretty close. He's had plenty of opportunity to take advantage of her and hasn't, I'd like to think that the stoic character Professor Snape has - he had some of that as a teen. Thank you for the review and the pretty stars.
I can't believe how soft he is getting around her. And it's not everyday that we see a pissed Severus. Is she going to make a scene and let him sleep on the couch? *giggle*
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
This is teen Severus before the walls, well, shields, he errected as an adult, although I have tried to infuse the characterstics of Professor Snape in him. Nope, it's not often that Professor Snape would let himself be so ungaurded. Thank you for the review and the pretty stars.
Very nicely done. Is Mulciber supposed to find out about Hermione - he seems to suspect that she's there even though he doesn't really say anything. Nice, a drunk Severus Snape.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. Dunno, but Mulciber is the suspecious type. Yep, he imbided a bit too much. lolThank you for the review and the stars.
Great chapter! I liked the banter between Severus and Hermione. The way she talked him into taking her to the Quidditch was pure Hermione.I can't wait for the next update to find out what happened to Severus when he takes her outside. Should be good!Than you,Beth
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. SW has my next chapter. I hope it's post soon, too.Thank you very much for the review and the pretty stars.
I think Mulciber is onto them. He KNOWS Severus is hiding something. And he's going to find out. I hope it's not too bad.And he's passed out in the classroom! What will Hermione do? I can't wait to see what she does!!! I hope you update soon. They're really starting to depend on each other and they use terms of affection: "My little Gryffindor." hmmm...Anyway, post another one soon!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Yes, Mulciber is a suspecious sort. Well, he sleeps it off and she tries to be quiet while he brews his Hangover Potion. LOL I couldn't do an entire month and get where I want to go so some things are skipped - but You'll like what I show next. Sw has my next chapter already! I hope it posts soon too!
Hooray, another chapter is out! I've really been enjoying how the two of them have been having an effect on one another, especially how the younger Severus was able to get through to Hermione about how her papers need to be written when the adult Severus never could. And of course with every timeline change, adult Sev is going to see Hermione in a different light more and more.Speaking of timeline changes, I've been meaning to ask--with each trip backwards and with each successive version of Severus' diary outlining exactly what happened, so that adult Sev warns his younger self about things which younger self then changes... *whew* ...the timeline changes for adult Severus, who no longer remembers what happened in previous now erased timelines. If this is right, then my question is "does Hermione still remember any of the old timelines prior to her trips back, since she's on the opposite end of the equation"? And if so, will she make an inadvertant remark when back in her own time period about something she remembers happening say in her second year but that now no one else remembers having happened? Did anything I just typed make any sense at all? I've said it before and I'll say it again--time travel makes my head hurt! Great story, and I'm looking forward to more headache-inducing fun with Hermione and Hangover!Severus...
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
You are very welcome. It's not that Professor Snape didn't try, he didn't take the time. Simply marked her essays and handed them back. If you go back to chapter 9's reviews my answer to Mimmom and Braye27, I broke down all the time loops and jumps. I'd rather not go copy it agian, do you mind going to take a peek there? It will help clear things up.This Hermione remembers only the two other jumps that happened in her timeline. The ones in which Severus successfully hides her - the ones you see what happens. The first one in cahp 1 was errased. So were the others. This Hermione is in her timeline. Severus has the Diary. His older self gave him one with all the entires he remembered and the details his older self(when he was a teen) told him. The Diary is then outside of the time paradox and has details of the lost jumps when Professor Snape's actions changed the timeline. More than once BTW.Severus as a teenager is where all the convergent timelines begin to diverge. That's why the Diary works, it goes back to the 'beginning' of the loops each time and therefore doesn't cancel out.So it's only Severus who knows what's happened in these jumps. so far. So No, Hermione cannot make a slip unless she says something about her time with teenSeverus in his time. Does that help?
