A Minerva McGonagall fic set in 1957, with forays into the past. More than a Romance; stories within stories. Features Minerva, Albus, and Poppy, with appearances by Slughorn, Grubbly-Plank, Hagrid, Flitwick, Moody, Riddle, Grindelwald, and other canon characters. Not DH-compliant. Disregards DH.

Reviews for Resolving a Misunderstanding
A most excellent Lagniappe! Better even than a beignet and chickory coffee!http://www.cafedumonde.com/to explain the reference for non-Yanks :-) I think you ought to have a contest to see which of us comes closest to guessing Malcolm's animagus form (presuming he's successful). For a brilliant wizard Albus is being dense about the problem of how to get back to his rooms in a hurry. He should just re-arrange his bedroom so it includes a fireplace, and then connect it to Minerva's. Surely the Head can make such a change whenever he wants....Hogwarts wouldn't want him to be too chilly in his bedroom! He'll not only need to reply to summonses from Dilys, but also to escape when troubled Gryffies show up on Minerva's doorstep at odd hours. Although his invisibility trick should be helpful in that event. [I must say one of my favorite MMAD fluffy one-shots is over on the boards, a story where Albus is sleeping over and they keep getting interrupted by rowdy post-Quidditch partying. When Minerva comes down to shush the cubs for the umpteenth time she accidently grabs Albus's dressing gown by mistake....after she goes back upstairs the cubs look at each other w/ very raised eyebrows..."Did you notice she was wearing Prof. Dumbledore's dressing gown?!?!?!"]Since the castle seems to have some intelligence of its own as far as rearranging itself, and since Albus and Minerva demonstrated their love quite clearly in the Heart of Hogwarts, maybe the castle will take matters into its own hands. Albus does have quite the imagination...what would the Trustees have thought if they'd known? The Gertrude scene was great too. She deserves a plate of beignets herself for putting up w/ Malcolm's taste in portraits! (Hmm....I bet Albus would love beignets (much more than Gertrude would!--Malcolm should introduce Albus to them--surely his ex- taught him how to make them....)

He has a fireplace in his bedroom already, so he doesn't need to add it. Don't worry, he's got a plan, he's just not got hte specific details yet. He began thinking about it the night he was lying awake in bed missing Minerva! LOL!Since troubled Gryffies are highly unlikely to be visiting Minerva in her bedroom, I think that Albus is safe from their notice! LOL! (Although, as Minerva says to Malcolm in this chapter, she sometimes has a guest in her sitting room! haha!)Glad you liked the Gertrude scene. She is just waiting to see if Malcolm says anything more about the portrait. She knows he's just a big kid, so she is looking at the amusing side of things right now. Anastasie bought her beignets, but she made him jambalaya and spicy gumbo. Probably the reason he was with her a little longer than the usual two minutes and still remembers her name! Teehee! Thanks much!

BTW, if you are looking for the most full description of Albus's bedroom, it's in "Meeting Morag." Your humble author included the fireplace in that description. BTW#2, my favorite premixed coffee with chicory is the French Market one. It's quite nice.
I don't know whether to be thrilled that you posted or sad that it's almost the end of the story. Such a quandry I'm in...sobs.Gertie seems really happy to see Minerva and to have her to tea. And it was sweet of Albus to create them an easy passageway between their rooms. It reminded me of the Narnia wardrobe. haha. Hmm, maybe Albus was reading that book after he finished Through the Looking Glass. lol
And va va va voom! Malcolm's door portrait sounds very interesting. I'm sure she'll turn quite a few young males' heads and eyes should they need to visit their professor in his rooms. tee hee.Poor Herbert and Siofre. That's so sad that he's gone now and so close to their anniversary. I know we didn't really get to see/meet him but for some reason it tugs at the heartstrings to think of it. Maybe it's because I like Siofre so much. haha.Albus has certainly broken out of his shell of reservation. THAT WAS SOME HOT DAYDREAM he had during his meeting. Whew...wipes the steam from my computer. I love it when they roleplay and I am anxious to see what his surprises are for Minerva. wink wink. If they're anything like his daydreams or greetings in the night, it should be very stimulating. Toodles,GLM

Somebody might call Jeanette one bodacious babe! Haha!I have a feeling that Albus might have decided to read some modern children's literature (well, modern for someone born in 1840!) and felt inspired without thining about the practicalities of it! He did tell Minerva he might fantasize during boring meetings, which appalled her! (In the "seal" chapter, I believe it was, in "Holiday w/ the Headmaster.") So he decided to give it a try! Thanks for the review!TTFN!
A nice settling in interlude, even if there was a death in the family. I hope this is an indication of what Albus and Minerva might have for the next forty years.Malcolm in love is a very endearing fellow. Gertrude may be very tolerant, but he should reconsider the portrait. Does he really think she won't figure it out? Gertrude is pretty savvy.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
I think she has probably already figured it out. She's waiting to see what Malcolm says and does. I think it's pretty much an indication of what they'll have most of the time, with a few interesting little blips.Glad you enjoyed it!
I absolutely loved this chapter! It was so nice of Albus to put connecting doors to Gertie and Malcolm's rooms - and I love how they are in the wardrobe! And I think it will be interesting for Malcolm to learn to be an Animagus - I hope he is successful!
And Albus's fantasy was very inventive... I wonder if they will actually try that some time!
I'm also looking forward to Albus's surprises for Minerva - I wonder what they are! This was a great chapter, as always, and I am THRILLED that there will be a bonus epilogue posted here! Finally, I just want to say that this has been a fantastic story, and I have really enjoyed reading this fic. You are a fantastic writer, and you've done a terrific job with this story. Bravo!MMADfan is our Queen! LOL.

Awwww, thanks! *wishes yet again that there were a blushie icon!* I think you will enjoy Albus's surprises for Minerva!Thank you very much. I am always very glad when someone enjoys something I write, especially RaM. <--- in honor of Malcolm (and no, his form will NOT be a dragon! LOL! that would be very inconvenient, if extremely impressive!)
Response from diana_hawthorne (Reviewer)
Darn - I was hoping that he would be a dragon - but then Gertie would have some competition with Hagrid over Malcolm's free time! LOL. An owl would be cool, but I feel that owls are too mainstream for Malcolm. It would be immensely amusing if Malcolm became a Blibbering Humdinger, or a Crumple-Horned Snorkack! LOL!
Cheers for posting.

My Muse has gone off in the corner, sulking, her feelings hurt that her contributions are unappreciated, since she has nothing to do with posting, which she considers beneath her and leaves to me to do without her assistance. I know how to deal with her sulks now, though! Dove Dark Chocolate Promises, a hot bubble bath, and some soothing music. And maybe a shot or two of Drambuie. (My Muse has very specific taste in liquor!)<---me, trying to write without my Muse! Poor me!
Cheers for posting.

An author loves a review.
Talk about an action packed chapter and one that kept me on the edge of my seat. My own heart raced when the dark wizards began approaching the area where Albus and Minerva were. Whew, that was close!!! But thanks to Minerva and her undying love for Albus...all is well!!
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
Thank you! It was fun to write some action-filled chapters.

Talk about a bunch of idiots! They should hve sent Sprangle into battle and I'm sure he'd have a completely different approach to sending someone into a danger zone without all the necessary information and even an escapre plan. Thankfully, Minerva is a brilliant witch and is very resourceful. If anyone could handle the dangers and stress, she can because Albus is at risk.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
I thin kthe people who worked for Sprangle didn't agree with him -- but you ever notice how some bosses can be, um, dumb? (Not all, thank God! But I've worked for some real doozies!LOL)
This was such a heartbreaking chapter. Carson was such a good man and a good friend to both Minerva and even to Albus in some ways. I'm glad he was able to have Albus write the letters for him, especially the one to Minerva. Seems he knows Albus well enough to know that he would blame himself for Carson's death and that he'd need Minerva, even though he might not realize it. So incredibly sad...sniffles.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
It was sad to write it.Thank you!
Yay for Minerva's arrival and her ability to help Albus. I'm sure it was a huge relief to Albus to see her and by the same token, for her to find him still alive.Poor Frankel never had a chance though. With Sprangle's idiotic battle plan, he was doomed from the start. He reminds me of the "nameless" people on those action movies....you know the ones...they're Guy #1 or Girl in Blue who accompanies the main star on the dangerous mission. You know they're not coming back. haha.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
Oh, yes, the ones that Trekkies call "Red Shirts" -- no, not a Trekkie, just have known a lot of them -- they just fall and are never mentioned again! (Frankel is mentioned again, though!)Thanks!
