The need to survive is ingrained within the human psyche, but where does self-preservation end and self-destruction begin? Hermione is captured by Death Eaters and is held hostage by Snape and Pettigrew, but she comes up with a plan to escape. Not a romance.

Right. I would like to state, for the record, that I WILL finish "She Married Her Choice". I will. Assuming I am in control of my own destiny and accomplishments, that is. ;-)
Unfortunately, real life (mainly an attention craving three-year-old) and inspiration have been keeping me from creative endeavors for a while now. I do foresee a time when that shall pass, but until then, I ask for your patience.
Thank you!

Ewwww!!! Wormtail is so disgusting! Lol, I love Hermione's thoughts in between what she's doing to suck up to him. Great chapter, again.
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
Isn't he? Thanks!
Ewww, the thought of being ANYWHERE alone with Pettigrew. They did so good with the movie Pettigrew that I cannot get that image out of my head!
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
Yeah. Not a pleasant thought, is it? That's basically the image I have in my head of Pettigrew, too. Only person who could possibly be worse in the creep factor is Voldemort himself, I think.
Response from Myst (Reviewer)
Hmmm, I think I'd be immensely more fearful of Volde, but I think the creepiness award would have to go to Wormtail . . .shudder. Snakeface is creepy, but . . .
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
I don't know... The thought of cozying up to Voldie is far creepier to me than Wormtail. Wormtail can at least boast being pure human, even if he does look like a rat. But, then again, Voldie kind of has that asexual thing going on, so...
Very clever remark Hermione made, about Voldemort not making Wormtail the secret-keeper! Good chapter. I'm anxious to read more.
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
Thanks! The end of part one is coming up soon.
Ok I love the setup, something nasty is about to happen. This story is quite the ride hats off to you. Sorry I reviewed twice last chapter, I'm on percoset for a injury and I got confused lol. see you next chapter!
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
Yes, something nasty is about to happen, though it doesn't get terrible for a few chapters yet.
No need to apologize! Hope the drugs are working and that you feel better soon.
EWWWWWWWWWWWWW!How I love to hate both of these guys. "My belongings??" Ooooh, you bad, bad, man.
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
Thanks! Yeah. Bad, bad man.
Cold-hearted Snape, who thinks of Hermione as his belonging. You've done everything to paint him in a horrible manner, with no redeeming quality. I just hope Hermione will be able to pull off her plan, it seems the only one thing that she can do to get out of there.
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
Yep. At this point he really doesn't have any redeeming qualities that Hermione can see. Hermione is determined to get out.
Squick!! having to cozy up to wormtail would put me off my breakfast! Urrgh! But great chapter!! GG
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
I did put a squick warning on, didn't I? Cause the thought sure squicks me! Thanks!
Yay! Some more interaction. I like how Snape doesn't become unrealistically nice, too, and he'll still mess with Hermione and Wormtail. Good chapter.
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
Snape's not nice. He does have softer moments, but you never know what his motivations are. Thanks!
"A mild poison here and there"! My god, poor Hermione!! Great chapter
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
Yeah. At least he isn't planning on the deadlier version, right? Thanks.
I love how you put Snape's commentary at the end of each chapter. I wonder what is for breakfast...
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
Something easy on the stomach. It's dinner you have to worry about.
Oh! Another chapter! Oh another cliffhanger! Oh you naughty thing!!!! But I'm having so much fun.
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
Thanks!
he treats her like an experiment. Hmmm. Let's see, if i don't do this what happens? If I do this, what will happen? Very calculating of him... What's next, I wonder? *evil smirk* GG
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
Well, he can't treat her like she's human, can he? End of part one coming up.
So is he going to really Hermione & Pettigrew or just messing with the mind?--I'm assuming he will either eat something else before the "spices." I thought he didn't want the inconvience of her being faint.
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
Oh, he probably will add a mild poison here and there. He'll just be sure to add the antidote to his drink, and, after the amusement factor of her being ill wears off, he'd offer her some of the antidote as well.
This Snape is a nasty piece of business for sure. I'm trying to figure out his motivation. Assuming for argument now he's working on some Stockholm Syndrome thingie, what does that accomplish for him if he succeeds (vs. HP, LV, PP, WW in general)? Or is it just perverse entertainment for him? I'll probably just be shaking my head and mumbling to myself as I await the updates that bring the answer.
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
Oh, he is. He is not a wizard to mess with. The answer might not be clear, as it is pretty much limited to Hermione's point of view, and you can be certain that Snape is not going to come right out and tell her.
WTF Snape?
Is all I can say.
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
That's about right. :-)
I love what you are doing with this story. Will you really use Hermione as a lab rat? I know, read and find out. I love the build up of tention you are creating, you must be a sadist at heart. You absolutely rock! I love this story. ~Carla
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
Why not? As long as he doesn't kill her too soon, he basically has free reign on what he can do to her.
I'm not sure I'm a sadist at heart, although I do enjoy writing characters who mess with other's minds. :-)
Thanks, Carla.
Oh God you are wonderful! Such a wicked, wicked Snape, and you are doing a lovely job of building up tention. Will you really use her as a lab rat? I know I have to read and find out. You must be a sadist at heart tormenting me so. I love your story & I think you rock! Carla
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
Hee hee hee. Thank you!
Hmm. just natural deduction, that if he forces her to eat everything he fixes for breakfast, after having not eaten in a few days, that alone might cause her to vomit. But, if he puts something disagreeable in it, or she thinks he's put something disagreeable into the food... watch out!
Will be curious to see how you play out the processes of feeding Hermione. The whole breakfast scene could turn into a major battle zone of disgusting things. My imagination is running away with horrible thoughts...
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
I'm afraid it's going to be left to the imagination as I have a plot to advance. But yes, the process would not be pleasant, and you can bet she would be sighing in relief every time she didn't get sick after eating.
he's kidding! he'd really poison her? wow... ur right, this isnt a romance. i keep waiting for them to have their bonding moment where he drops the whole greasy git thing but its not happening. somehow, i like it. :)
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
He did say mild poisons. ;-) Nope, not a romance. Yes, greasy git of a bastard. I'm glad you like it! Thanks!
I knew this kindness was too good to be true. Horrible man! At least, it should put her pride back on track.
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
Yep. Horrible, horrible man. But at least he isn't forcing her to parade around in her birthday suit, right?
Maybe not wise, but Hermione is a fighter. Still love your story!!
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
Yes, she is, but she also likes to think things through before acting, unlike Harry. Thank you!
As much as I love the 'snarky Snape', and Snape in general, you have managed to scrape a different version of him off of the bottom of someone's shoe! I do not like this cruel Snape. This thing that torments those that are in a position where he wields power over them. And I wonder if he would be like this with wizards/witches of strength and power, or is he only good at pulling the legs off of little bugs? Disagreeable, sarcasm-as-wit, gloomy, glowering Snape is right up my alley. [As that's rather like me! ] But this Snape is pathetic in this twisted cruelty over a girl with no defenses or options. [Yeah, but I'm still reading it...]
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
Good. You're not supposed to like him. He is supposed to be utterly disagreeable and cruel as he psychologically tortures Hermione (most of the "Torture" warning does not apply to physical torture in this piece). And, well, he was courteous enough to Voldemort, so probably not.
Even in canon he enjoys lording his power over others, though. I see canon!Snape as a pathetic, cruel and immature man who has a nasty streak a mile wide (granted I think there's more to him than just that, but then, there might be more to this Snape as well).
Hostage situations are not nice. Power corrupts. Healthy minds break. That's what this story is about.
Is this some twisted "good-cop, bad-cop" routine? That would figure that Snape would make a production of eating!
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
Snape made a production just to be obnoxious. Wormtail is smart enough to know that if he wants to get into her pants, he might have to defend her a bit. So, in essence yes, but not necessarily planned out by them to be.
The gratitude she feels is the first scorch in her pride. He's playing with her, knowing how to elicit emotions will bring her to surrender herself to him. He does with her what he couldn't really do when he was a teacher. I wonder if she is the one who will die (reference to your character death warning).
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
Yep. Yep, yep yeppers. As for the character death... I'm not going to say, although it would be interesting to see what people's conjectures would be about what happens to get the character who dies dead... But no. Not saying.
I'm afraid Snape is right. The quicker she lets go of misplaced pride, the quicker she'll regain forces and maybe lure her jailors into some sense of "security." Besides, having pride is having something to lose. When she'll have nothing left, then she will be dangerous ... or dead.
Response from averygoodun (Author of Traitor)
Do you really think it's misplaced? And do you really think Snape wouldn't see through that?
Snape has more or less ordered not to kill her, so death is not what she's afraid of. There are much worse things than dying, and Hermione isn't desperate enough - yet - to risk being dangerous.
