Reviews for Quantum Mechanics
That went rather well. I hope Hermione accepts her new family and Septima can deal with everything.
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
Yes, it's a lot for everyone to figure out, and the situation isn't ideal, is it? Thank you so much for the review!
wow, Septima is doing great here!
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
Thank you! I hope she's not just shellshocked from everything that's happened, LOL.
This is a very important chapter in that Hermione finally has confronted Vector, and they both came out unscathed. And other than the point where she shouted at Severus in Hermione's presence, this is the first time they have actually been together as a family. Even though they don't have all of the answers for her, they both have been very open to Hermione asking questions, and that will go a long way with her, I think. I thought the part where she starts to feed the baby, and it is awkward for Hermione was very realistic for her age.Actually, they did so very many things right.”What a nice thing to say. And also, it occurs to me how wonderful it is for a Muggleborn to have not only a set of parents in the Muggle world, but also a set of wizarding parents. There are so many things that she can get from one that she can't from the other. Once all of the confusion clears, she is actually a lucky little girl.

Septima's been sitting in a stew of wondering how stupid she could have been not to recognize her own child while knowing that another woman raised her daughter to be the amazing young woman Hermione is. Looking at the situation analytically, she has to accept that the Grangers did a fantastic job of raising her daughter, even if she hates the situation that made that happen. Meanwhile, this is going to be one wierd family as they figure out what's up and what they want to share with the outside world. I'm not sure all the right questions have been asked or answered, yet, but I agree that the willingness of all three to be honest with it all will carry them far. Fortunately, they all respected each other to start out with. Thank you again, for the great review!
Part of me feels like Hermione is a little whiny and ungrateful. But on the other hand, she is young and this is a lot to take in. And sometimes just because someone is book smart, doesn't mean they are smart about all things, especially when they are clouded by emotion.I love how Severus is being fatherlyish, without seeming over-the-top. I think he is making a good choice by taking Miss Vector-Snape to see her brother and mother.
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
You may be right about her reaction. It's an awful lot to realize and accept all at once, and it's not something she should have to deal with, but there it is in the middle of her life when she's trying to help Harry with the second task. Severus isn't exactly a fatherly type, but he's got a lot of experience in dealing with kids this age as well as the girl's mother. Hopefully he'll continue to act with restraint and understanding. Thank you so much for the review!
Wowie, of course Hermione wouldn't just let things be. I'm glad he's bringing her to see the baby.
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
She's got to pick at things until she understands them, I think. This is going to take a lot of work. Thank you for the review!
I love the dynamic that Poppy has set between her and Dumbledore. Serves him right, after all. And so sad that Septima doesn't think that Severus loves her. I mean, you can't blame her for feeling unloved, because he has all but spelled it out for her, but I think he will have to realize it and believe it for himself before he can convey it to her. It is a good sign, at least, that others can see it. I wish Severus the best of luck ...
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
Thank you! I was trying to figure out how a health care worker could maintain any patient confidentiality around an expert Legilimens who likes to arrange things to suit himself, and here's where I ended up, LOL.Septima's reached a point where she knows she's respected and valued by Snape, so she's going to content herself with that, at least for now.
Beautiful scenes. Can't Severus now forget Lili? And tell Septima so? Voldemort needs the next gneration of D.E.s and Dumbledore needs Remus' child. That protects they little guy for a while at least. What's his name, btw? Severus could scan through the minds of the Granger parents to find how that adoption went. Maybe someone contacted them specifically? Now, with a newborn, is maybe not the best time, but it confuses me that he doesn't take more actions in this regard.
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
That's an interesting idea about Severus visiting the Grangers and seeing what information they have. Severus mentioned naming him after Flammel a while back.Thank you for the lovely review!
I suppose the baby would be well protected if it was known to be Severus's, but could also be used as leverage. A double-edged sword. :)
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
A double-edged sword indeed. I think the Snape family will figure out how to minimize the risk, though. Thank you, once again!
What's Poppy up to? :)
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
She's getting Septima off site without rousing too much suspicion... hopefully. Thank you!
Oops, did Karkaroff dance a little too close? ;)
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
Maybe he did, or maybe he's got one of those radars. Thank you!
Aww, he drew sketches! :)
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
I don't know if he's still got a secret notebook he fills with more Lily, but fatherhood gives him many sketch-worthy moments, LOL. Thanks, again!
Finally! :D
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
I know! Thank you so much for your review and all your support!
Beats drugs anytime! :)
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
That it does, ;) Thank you, once again!
Glad all went well. Too bad she can't remember the first time she did this.
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
Thank you! Yes, it would be helpful to recall what she'd done before, wouldn't it?
Wonder what their plan is? I wish Severus could realize what he has with Septima is so much better than anything What's-her-name could have given him.
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
I think part of him does, but it would mean admitting he was fundamentally wrong, LOL. Thank you for the review!
Response from debjunk (Reviewer)
Yes, that's true. And he would hate that, wouldn't he? Although chalking things up to youth covers a lot of mistakes... like that snake on his arm. LOL
Hope it's relaxing. Anything that makes Dumbles cringe is ok with me.
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
LOL... Dumbles is going to have his knickers well-twisted in a few chapters. Thank you for the review!
what a pleasant final scene. I wonder if the first question should really be "who is "they"?" or shouldn't they just enjoy their knowledge adn observe their daughter? They might discuss a bit if Renée's fate has been all that bad, if her upbringing (albeit Muggle) hadn't served her quite to her advantage.. It could lift sone guilt from them to come to this conclusion.

Severus is sure that he has to find more answers so that he can ultimately undo the magic that affected Septima's memory. That may well finding out who did it and why. He's already decided, to some extent, that she may have been as well off away from the wizarding world as a child. Septima is still going to have some lingering issues due to the way her mind was altered.Thank you for the lovely review!
Lovely that she knows almost everything now. She knows the most important part; her daughter is alive and she is her friend.
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
Yes, it would be terrible if she discovered her daughter were someone who didn't really like her, wouldn't it? Thank you for the review!
This must be so difficult for both Septima and Severus, each in their own way. I do hope that all of this coming to light serves to bring them closer rather than causing a rift between them. Time will tell ... Then there is the matter of what, if anything, to tell Hermione. We could be in for a long ride.
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
They do need to be careful about what they say to their daughter. How will they explain it? We'll see. Thank you for the review!
Wow, now that's a breakthrough. Was it Dumbledore back there in that memory? huh? Huh? the man really deserves death. Is it sixth year yet?
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
Hee hee... sixth year can't come fast enough, can it? Dumbledore seems have his finger in a lot of pies, doesn't he?Thank you for the review!
Awww, is that Hermione? It's nice to see she's made some progress (Septima), but there's a ways to go.
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
Spoilers! Yes, Septima is moving forward, one way or another. Thank you, again!
Lovely chapter of understandings here. I always admire Septima's willingness to take less than she gives, although I'm not sure that's a good thing. :)
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
I guess it's a matter of getting less of what she wants versus getting nothing she wants. Things have a way of evening out eventually, though. Thank you for the lovely review!
Excellent update--as always! Is it Hermione/Renée or are you integrating a side plot? I'm looking forward also to hearing the reasoning why someone wants to leave the magical world at this point!Severus is being almost un-Snapeishly kind. doesn't it colour off on his teachign style by now?
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
In the back of my mind is a Snape who hates teaching, or perhaps takes a hateful approach to teaching, but is still loving to certain people. I look at the way he healed Draco in HBP. There's such a tenderness in that moment that it's clear he's capable of being a different person when he chooses.By way of a non-spoiler, I'll say the person in the doorway arrives there directly from the canon.Thank you so much for the review!
Oh noes! :0
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
It'll be ok, I promise! Thank you!
