Reviews for Quantum Mechanics
A sly approach!
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
LOL... thank you! I think Dumbledore is going to wait... oh, about two years for this plan to work.
All right, there is my brilliant Severus! What a ridiculous thing to say, and yet, Dumbledore is so hellbent on seeing them apart, that he goes with it. I can't wait to see how wonderfully it will backfire! Um, how far are we from the end of HBP? *has never looked forward to Dumbledore's death so very much* :)
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
I was planning on just a few chapters for OotP, but they keep growing on me, sigh. I think we're all going to be standing there, offering to help Severus cast that spell by the time it finally happens. Thank you so much for the review!
Another superlative chapter. Bravo!
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
You're always so kind to me. Thank you for everything!
Ahhhhh, I just want to kill Dumbledore. No, I actually just want to give him a taste of his own medicine somehow. I do hope that is in his future. How creepy to find him standing there. How long was he there? *shudders* And then he is still there later! Eeek! They need a guard dog or something.I was pleased that Septima did not take the bait about Lily. No reason to play into Dumbledore's hands any more than they have to. It must have been difficult, though, because surely there is at least a part of her that desperately wants to know what she is up against.“Severus, there are plenty of others who would share your life with you, if you would just let them in.”I can't understand what Dumbledore has against them. Perhaps he considers himself to be one of the "others" who would be willing to share a life with Severus.
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
Oh, yes, Dumbledore says "others" but means himself. I have no idea if he was there or not. He's not telling, and I couldn't decide if he's the sort who can't stand to look or wouldn't be able to turn away. As for punishing him, let's just say that Severus won't be nearly as reluctant all through Year Six as he appears to be in canon. Septima was very tempted to ask about the other woman, but she's grown up enough to understand that there'd be a taint on whatever she heard from Dumbledore. Plus she's started to sense that the way he would tell it would be slanted in a way that could only hurt her while leaving her with very little useful information.Thank you so much!
Albus Interruptus (haha!) is a royal pain. I sort of wish those two would stand their ground with him more than they do, but I do understand why it would not be prudent to do so, as well. The whole situation with Hermione is touchy, and it is no one's fault. I think she likes having her new parents and respects them, but it is going to take quite some time to grasp that she has two set of parents, rather than one set of parents and one pair of teachers. They can't expect too much from her. Still, it must hurt knowing their child disregards them as her mom and dad. I think time will fix this situation, but hopefully there will be no feelings too hurt in the process to be mended.I sure hope you have a happy ending planned for these guys!
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
They're biding their time with the Headmaster, but it does make them grind their teeth at times. I sincerely hope that I'm capturing Hermione's situation properly. Even with the good will and best intentions all around, she's not going to change the way she's always done things on a dime. Poor Severus has had a few years to contemplate how things might be if it were all out in the open, and of course his expectations are going to be wrong. Thank you for the lovely review!
WOW, you've woven your tale so wonderfully in and around canon--I'm amazed! So they not only have an infant to handle and an obnoxious boss, but now also trouble with a strong-willed teen who doesn't approve of their authority coming out of the blue. Septima is growing into her role, but Severus? Well, Severus, did these two witches hurt you? They're thinking by themselves, imagine that.
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
Bah ha ha... They're certainly working through all of life's problems at once, aren't they? A maniacal evil overlord will seem easy after this. Severus is growing into his role, too, but he has a tendency to form expecations about the people around him that those people may or may not wish to participate in. They'll work it out, but I couldn't picture it as being easy, given the strong personalities involved. Thank you so much for the review!
Response from Bettina (Reviewer)
Ahem, a "tendency to form expecations"?? Did you ask Severus himself for that formulation? I'd say its intolerant, self-righteous and bossy..and we finally know where Hermione got it from. Hey, does Severus see/hear himself in Hermione when she commands the boys around? That would be such a treat as so far he mostly saw Septima in her.
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
LOL, I don't think he's that self-aware yet, although he's compared her to his mother. First I think he has to get over the idea that she's going to just do what he thinks is best just because she knows he's her father, now. Thanks, again!
'Albus Interruptus', well, he certainly has a way to destroy the mood. But the headmaster isn't their only problem, is he? Although it was downright cruel that he sent Septima's former professor after her in the previous chapters, a man who tried to rape her, I can't imagine anything crueller. He has gone insane, hasn't he? Their life seems to be too difficult at the moment, they hardly see each other, they have a newborn baby who needs their time and a teenage daughter who was taken from them years ago and who doesn't really see them as her parents. That must hurt. Great chapter, amazing story!
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
Thank you! Of course, most of don't have Voldemort to deal with, but quite a few of us spend our thirties with demanding bosses, complicated children, and spouses we lose touch with from time to time. This is an attempt to recognize the very difficult part of life they're passing through. Thanks, again!
What an... well, I don't say words like that.
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
I totally agree, and we're not done punishing him yet, since he doesn't seem to get the message. Thank you, as always!
Wow, that was creepy! Dumbledore deserves something.
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
Dumbledore's punishment is more subtle at the moment, but he'll suffer. Thank you for the review!
What the heck has Septima done to A.D.? Or, wait, was it someone in her family--7 decades back? He's not remotely interested in Remus' wellfare, so much is clear now. What about taking the wolf into the investigation? Hm, Severus will not agree to that, too bad. I'm just glad they're fine all of them!
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
Yeah, Remus has probably heard some things that might be good to know, but whether Severus would ever ask and Remus would ever answer... Thank you for the review!
Yikes! Erwin is creepy, and Dumbledore is downright repulsive. He can say any matter of nasty things to her and it is fine. He can fire her and it is fine. If he doesn't want her around then so be it, but to interfere and "give her" to another man who isn't her husband ... there is no getting past that. I do hope that Dumbledore gets his sectumsempera as well. And then maybe be detained before he can get to St. Mungo's. I'm willing to help.
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
Dumbledore is a bit over the top, isn't he? He'll get his. At least Septima kept her head and Severus did get back soon. Thank you for the review!
A quantum of confusion, indeed. Um, she is still dreaming, right? I had forgotten about that Erwin creep. *shudders*
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
She certainly hopes she's dreaming or something. Thank you for the review!
He is very sweet to her.
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
Thank you, again! I think he sees the value of being sweet to her. He gets a lot back from it. ;)
I think she's finally going to relax.
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
LOL... oh, yes! She's starting to feel very relaxed! Thank you!
like the story..
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
Thank you very much! I hope you continue to enjoy it!
Oh, he is such a good little husband! You said in the last review that maybe he figured things out too fast, but I don't think so at all. Despite the fact that there is that love thing hanging between them, they are pretty in tune with each other's needs and wants, even if they are most comfortable expressing it in the bedrrom (or on the dining table). Severus is a smart man, so I think he would have been able to discern the problem quickly. And not only that, but if he wants things back to the way they were for himself, he is going to have to do it her way. I think this all went just how it needed to. I dread their return to Hogwarts.
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
I think you're right and that Severus would be one to figure it out as quickly as possible. Hogwarts won't be pleasant, of course, but now that they've regained their intimacy, they'll have a better understanding between themselves. Thank you for all the lovely reviews this weekend!
Way to go, Severus! He figured out what's amiss here. And he used that 4-letter word he's been avoiding for years. Dropping off a newly born is extreme, but circumstances are so unusually complex. I'd love to think that Severus is the one who misses Niki come Sunday.
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
Thank you! Yes, they just need a little time without anyone being able to distract them.
Oh, what a lovely thing that Severus has done for her. I mean, it is for him as well, but she really needed it. If he wanted to fix their intimacy problems, he went about it in exactly the right way. How wonderful. I most enjoyed, though, the part where he told Dumbledore why they were going away. Serves him right, the old meddler.
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
I probably have him figuring it out a little quicker than most husbands would, of course. She definitely needed this. And I'm glad you liked the conversation by the staircase. I confess I giggle when I think about it. Thank you, again!
Hooray for the return of the chalkboard, LOL! Except it wasn't all good this time, was it? I can remember those post delivery days myself, trying to please your husband when you swore after all of the trauma you were never going to use that thing again. :) On the other hand, all I could think was that Dumbledore somehow did something to her so she wouldn't enjoy sex. Probably not, but that would be most typical for him. I hope they can see the bedroom troubles for what they are, and not end up at odds about it.
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
I so didn't want to ruin the chalkboard thing! Dumbledore will be delighted if he notices this is happening, of course, but his only contribution is in that he has them in separate rooms. It's an all too natural progression, unfortunately. Thank you for your review!
It bloody is his fault. What a boar! Severus should be crawling on his knees up to the Owlery and back in remorse. Via the dungeons. Maybe Septima could apply some handywork next time for a first round?
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
LOL/sigh... it's kind of a common thing when you're married, especially after having a baby... they're a bit out of sync. Hopefully they'll work it out. Thank you for the review!
haha, yeah, it's different. Hopefully, this isn't Dumbledore meddling.
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
LOL, yeah, this time Dumbledore gets a freebee, although his housing arrangements aren't helping. Somehow, they have to figure out how to get the mojo back.
Perhaps some time apart will bring Severus to the realization that he loves Septima. He already knows that he needs her and wants her, there is just that one little stumbling block for him to get over.I am glad to see Septima and Hermione having a relationship. It will be good for them both, I think.
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
Thank you! Our little family is coming together in its way, I think. Severus may eventually understand the truth of the difference between what he feels for Lily and Septima.
Such frustration!
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
Yes, but it won't last forever. ;) Thank you!
Nice use of Alice Longbottom. There goes that line of questioning.I liked how Severus still has to berate Hermione in front of the other students, but it was for something ridiculous, and I am sure it was lacking venom.I don't know what else to say except, Dumbledore sucks! Really, really sucks.I don't expect this to be the last we hear from Severus, though.
Response from Rose of the West (Author of Quantum Mechanics)
LOL... using Alice was a bit of a cheat, I'll admit, but most of the women in the 70's Order seem to be dead or like Alice, so I would have had to use Minerva, who would have made it difficult for Dumbledore, or an OC. Alice seemed my best bet. Dumbledore is just pulling the chain he's able to pull now; since these two have been able to do as they pleased from separate bedrooms for a while, it won't cause too much of a problem.Thank you for the review!
