I'm a 30 something home-maker, writer and researcher. Harry Potter fanfiction is my passion and my great escape from everything. I am deeply in love with Severus Snape and he is the only man I would ever consider leaving my husband for. I am most fond of happy endings. Life is too full of angst and heartache, my dreams and thoughts need something more uplifting.
I was born in Sri Lanka and have lived in India, Poland and now, obviously the UK.
I love food, so many of my stories will have detailed descriptions of things I'm currently craving. I also love travelling, the arts and crafts, cooking, baking, oil painting, especially the pre-Raphaelites, literature and culture in general. My favourite colours are at present are royal purple, silver, emerald green, true red and fucshia. Colour is like music, it speaks silently to the soul when it needs it most.

Guess I called it right. :sigh:

Mmm... sad to be proven correct though.
Ah, touche! No one can beat the Prince of Sarcasm at scathing put-downs. Looks like a certain group of Weasels needs some toughlove. My Slytherin tendencies are all smirking in glee
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Indeed. Thank you so much for the wonderful reviews. I'm really really pleased you've taken the time to leave a comment/review after each chapter.
Hmmm....looks like a lot of older traditions need to be reinstituted for the betterment of the WW. Maybe Hermione could be an editor of a revised version of Hogwarts: A History or similar tome that includes all that stuff??
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Possibly, but remember, the Wizarding World is very reluctant to change, and telling them they've got things wrong is sure to not go down well. Even if it is to bring back lost or forgotten traditions.
I'm with Arthur; grief over Fred can only excuse so much.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Yes, indeed. Fred wouldn't have wanted or even understood what was being said and done.
I've always found retail therapy to be helpful when in a funk....

Mmm... I think most women do on some level, even if they don't really want to admit it.
WORD. Harry spoke TRUTH TO POWER. Everything he said about himself, Snape and Dumbledore is sooo TRUE. That's the speech JKR should have put into Harry's mouth in DH. Kudos for you for having the cojones to have Harry say it. I am sooo very impressed with your wiser, intelligent, mature and more articulate Harry Potter.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you. It's just something I felt strongly about. And I thought, this was my one opportunity to have Harry say it. If only JKR had not taken the easy option with the ending of Deathly Hallows.
I wince in sympathy with Hermione's feelings of hurt and abandonment re: Ron. Unlike Ms. Rowling, I never liked them as a romantic couple and always thought they were too different in temperment and habits to realistically work. Always thought that whoever Ronald ended up with marriage wise would be just a younger version of his Uber-Mom, and Hermione's worth much, much more than that in any universe.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Definitely. Hermione could never just be a mother/wife/domestic goddess. She is so much more than that.
Your Dark Veela theory gives much needed clarity to Severus' miserable background and why he had more than his fair share of misery than, say the Mauraders.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you. I'm glad the plot seems believable.
The Malfoys are like the ultimate survivors. If they can grow and change, then anyone can. They can lead the way in the sea-change of Pureblood attitudes towards Muggles and Muggleborns and anyone still harboring DE/Moldy sympathies. Narcissa is a powerful and very clever, intelligent witch. The Malfoy men are very lucky to have her around. Love her take-charge attitude. And her grief for the Bella who was in their childhood is quite understandable and natural. she wasn't always the psycho she was @ her death.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Indeed. I really wanted to explore the Slytherins in detail. I couldn't imagine Cissy being some weak woman, especially since she had Bella and Andromeda for sisters. Besides, how could a Black witch be weak.
Not surprised by Ginger Prats' peevish reactions. As for Ronniekins missing the press conference "glory," well, he certainly wasn't missed or needed. Not sorry!!!
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
True, I totally agree. Luna was a much more interesting pureblood representative.
What HHL have just pulled off is nothing short of Brilliant. And so is this story so far...
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you. I am so touched.
OMG, the Improved Trio is using slytherin cunning!!! me likes......
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Excellent :) I aim to please.
Thank you so much for the reviews. They are brightening up my evening.
Of course; if any Slytherins or DE affiliates would help Snape, it would be the Malfoy family.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Indeed. No one else would have any vested interest after all - but the Malfoys, well they owe him on a number of levels.
Yay! As long as Sev gets to survive Nagini's attack. . .
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Indeed. My Severus doesn't die on some dusty floor.
Great idea; I'm running (and reading) with it.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Excellent :) Thanks :)
I've thoroughly enjoyed your story and the interactions between Hermione, Severus, Lucius and Narcissa. You've kept to the rather callous manipulative character of tbe Slytherins and blended it with a strong sense of caring for the abandoned Hermione. The progression of Severus and Hermione's growing relationship is very realistic and compelling. Seeing Lucius and Narcissa beginning to regard Hermione as the daughter they never had has gone a long way toward humanizing the characters and adds a dimension that's usually missing from other fan fics. I'm eager to see how you develop the story as they return to Hogworts.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you so much. I'm really happy to hear that the character development that I attempted of the Slytherins has worked out. I'm struggling with time at the moment to compelete the next chapter, but hopefully something should be up soon.
Absolutely fabulous! I love this story. Please tell me it is not really finished. I want to see Severus and Hermione's relationship blossom. I want to watch them take wizarding society by storm. I want to know what happens to Harry and Ginny. Does he throw Ginny over and end up with Luna? Do the Weasleys recover?More please!
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Hello my dear. Thank you for the review and stars. Don't worry, the story is far from over. I've just been away in Sri Lanka and haven't had time to do more writing. But I am now back and you will see more up shortly. stay tuned.
Considering what happened, Hermione made the best choice possible when she asked Severus to go along with her to Australia. He understands loss and the rejection of loved ones so well, and knows what he would have wanted to ease the pain. He was very strong-willed not to cave in to his Slytherin instincts to "go for the throat" so to speak and take advantage of Hermione's vulnerability. The two of them will beat this curse yet.Speaking of the Dark Veela curse, I'm sure Severus is reluctant to let Hermione (or anyone really) know about its existance. He'd be afraid that Hermione was only with him because she felt sorry for him, which would defeat the whole purpose of trying to break the curse in the first place. On the other hand, if Hermione knew something she might be able to counteract the curse as it drives Severus to behave in ways to prevent love from reaching him. What a conundrum! As always, looking forward to the next chapter and what happens next.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you so much. You've captured Severus' dilemma perfectly. On the one hand, he does want to tell her what's going on and on the other, he is afraid of pity - and rightly so since he does understand the Gryffindor do-gooder mentality. More up shortly, I promise. Thank you for staying with the story and for your review.
powerful and poinient. it must be love for severus to surpress his slytherin side. terrific update. thanks and mucho smoochies
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you. I do believe it is love - but I think Severus is still not ready to admit it to himself.
I just hate these two-faced Christians who proclaim the love of Jesus, yet can't find it in their hearts to love anything they don't understand or agree with. shame on the Grangers for being so hard-hearted and uncaring. Especially when they KNEW who Hermione was. At some time in the past, they had accepted her as a witch. It seems odd that they would do a total about face. Anger for what she did, yes. Unacceptance because she's 'devil's spawn?' Well, that's just insulting themselves, isn't it? LOLI did like Severus kindness to her and his decision not to be Slytherin and take advantage of the situation. I think in the long run things will be better between them for it, and he seems to understand that too. Her affection for him is so very endearing. I'm sure he's shocked and yet quite pleased.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
I think the Grangers never really had the opportunity to reject Hermione when they first discovered she was different. Besides, one must question why she hardly ever spent her whole summer with the parents and usually ended up going to the Burrow. Perhaps she wasn't always wanted at home anyway? She always seemed to give excuses and spend Christmas away as well - as far as I can remember.Anyway, possibly the rejection was something that was building - and this just tipped the scales. If the mother never wanted her, then possibly accepting Hermione's magic and sending her off to boarding school was the best bet for the parents because they didn't have to deal with her for most of the year.As for Severus and Hermione, I think there's definite progress in their fight against the dark curse :)
So lovely to see Severus enjoying anything at all. Dancing and laughing and flirting. Excellent.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Yes, I agree. He needed a bit of light hearted fun after all the darkness and desolation of the war years.
very well done.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you :) Glad you approve.
:) How fun!
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Mmm.... I think so too. Thank you so much for the review and the pretty stars. I do aplogise for taking time to respond.
Response from mimmom (Reviewer)
No problem. We had no power or water for 3 days and 17 hours so it was difficult to check email and even more difficult to get on to this site. My phone just doesn't do internet very well. It's a bit old. Our power came back last night which means our water did too. Well water w/electric pump is annoying during an outtage.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Well glad you are fine given the situation. Thanks so much for keeping in touch - hearing back from readers is the best motivation to keep writing. x
Oh my! I'm glad Arthur is there and very glad Severus could come to Hermione's defense. Well written!
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you. I just wish more could be done for the weasleys as this point - things aren't really looking good for them.
You go Severus! Poor Hermione is so alone.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Yes, indeed. Thank goodness really Severus is being so aware of her and was willing to come to her defence.
