I'm a 30 something home-maker, writer and researcher. Harry Potter fanfiction is my passion and my great escape from everything. I am deeply in love with Severus Snape and he is the only man I would ever consider leaving my husband for. I am most fond of happy endings. Life is too full of angst and heartache, my dreams and thoughts need something more uplifting.
I was born in Sri Lanka and have lived in India, Poland and now, obviously the UK.
I love food, so many of my stories will have detailed descriptions of things I'm currently craving. I also love travelling, the arts and crafts, cooking, baking, oil painting, especially the pre-Raphaelites, literature and culture in general. My favourite colours are at present are royal purple, silver, emerald green, true red and fucshia. Colour is like music, it speaks silently to the soul when it needs it most.

Even though real life demanded my attention for quite some time, I'm so glad I finally got to finish reading this story. We'll done!
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you. It's not finished really. I've written more chapters and posted them on another site, but I don't have a beta now so can't really post it here at the moment.
Response from mom2divas (Reviewer)
Which other site? Beta or not, I'd still love to read it.
Lol I just loved how Severus was handled! Ginn really annoys me so I was happy to see that come to an end. So glad some of the Weasleys started the mend!
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
It has been fun to make Ginny into the evil one in my story. She's just perfect for the role. Glad you approve :)
It feels like I should be offended for some reason at the start of some chapters due to misunderstandings between Hermione and Severus and her almost always apologizing and then you go and keep writing the chapter and make me see why it worked out the way it does. Lol! Another fantastic chapter (or couple of chapters as I can't recall if I reviewed consistently as I get very involved and just keep reading) and I loved the castle getting into it.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you. I don't want Hermione to always apologise - and I'm sure he'll be on bended knee to her at some point too :)
Lovely chapter. I really like how the Malfoys are taking to Hermione. Can't wait to read about her chat with Narcissa and her date with Severus.I hope you don't mind but found 2 small typos. "This brought fought another round of giggles" and "Hermione blushed and shock her head."
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thanks so much for your eagle eyes. I really appreciate all such heads-up. I really need to find a beta.
Lol love the portraits!
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thanks so much. I love them too.
I had a feeling that was going to happen however that last sentence... I must find out where he's going with that!
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Glad you're enjoying the story :)
Sorry to see that reaction but I can see it fitting in well with how the story has progressed so far.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
I'm pleased you think so. This is a bit of a long winded story - a bit of this, a bit of that, but the action is still there.
Still loving this story. Different take on the reason behind certain Weasleys behaviours as well as relationships surrounding the Malfoys. Excellent chapters so far!
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
I'm so happy to read your reviews. Thank you so much for taking the time to tell me what you think.
Yet another excellent chapter! One small typo though; severed instead of served in the sentence, "Hermione was conscious of the amount of alcohol being severed..."
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you so much for your review. I do appreciate your kind words. :) And great job with the eagle eyes.
Yay! Fantastic interactions between Severus and Hermione.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed them together.
new and interesting learning about severus' family history!! so must didn't have their true love.. so dad...
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
It is sad. But that's the curse of the Dark Veela and fingers crossed that Snape breaks it for the rest of the bloodline.
Oh, I haven't been around for awhile. I was so excited to see two new chapters!
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you. Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. It wasn't showing up that I'd got reviews for some reason.
Thank you for a marvelous update, it was all one could have hoped for and more:-))
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. Next chapter is waiting to be gone through.
So excited to see this. I was so sad to think it would be lost to WiP.You had a couple of minor errors. Fluer's sister is Gabrielle.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thanks so much for letting me know. I thought I'd caught that one :)Also, no, I've written up to chapter 48 and am working on 49. But not having a beta makes the whole process of posting a lot slower. But it isn't going to be a WIP.
Response from chyara (Reviewer)
I remember when you started writing this one and the other one, the name escapes me. I am pulled into your story. Truly a work of art.I had to go back and start over and re-read it, as it had been awhile. Then I went back to read it again...lol
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
That is one of the nicest things anyone has said to me. Thank you.I do that all the time with stories I enjoy/love. So I'm feeling really over the moon. You made my morning honey.xxx
Congratulations Doctor Perry! So glad that you've finished the post grad work, and it was definitely worth waiting for to get a new chapter of this story. Even though Severus had been laboring under a powerful curse, it was breathtaking to see that despite everything it wasn't all powerful. If one had the ability to see past the surface of those around them, the curse just didn't pack its usual punch. In a way, it's an analogy for life--everyone around us has more to them than what we get to see at a cursory glance. But how many people take the time to really look? Thanks for the update, and I'm looking forward to the next one!
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Love your insightful review. Thank you so much for taking the time to think and respond. Yes. Exactly. I couldn't have put it better myself. Because really, people didn't look beyond the caricature of Snape the evil dungeon bat, the slimy git. He played the role so well he became the role. And yet, there is more to him. The dedicated potioneer, the passionate lover.
What a marvellous update, well Worth waiting for. I loved it, absolutely loved it. Severus realising that Hermione was never repulsed by his Veela curse was icing on the cake.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Hello my dear,So glad you enjoyed the chapter. I wanted Hermione to be more than just the girl who fell for the man but someone who had seen his worth even before, kind of like Luna had done.
Any betas in sight? :D It's great that this story hasn't been abandoned. :D But still WIPs make me nervous... :D
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Hello lovely,No, still no betas in sight. Desperately looking out for one.Sorry I've not responded to this before today. I've not got the email that tells you someone has written for some reason and I'd not checked for ages. Sorry. Don't worry, I'm working on more chapters. They will get written the story will be complete :)
Lovely. I'm so glad to be reconnected to this story. Defintely enjoyable to read and watch the growth of all the many characters. I'm very impressed with your ability to balance so many of them. I look forward to future chapters. Thank you for sharing. Also, congrats on submitting your PhD thesis, I hope it was well received.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
It was. I am now Doctor Perry. Glad you are enjoying the story. Have actually posted new chapters on another site but haven't got a beta so can't post here yet.
Severus is capable of finding true love, but it will take some convincing to get him to belive that he is truely loved.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Yes. Exactly. He's so used to being hated, or used. To accept that the love that's offered is real is going to be a challenge.
Given her previous experence at the manor, I doubt Hermione would want to go back there just yet, but as it was her that lead them to Severus, it would hav been nice to be asked at the very least.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Oh, I totally agree. But I think that at this point the Malfoys haven't had enough time to think of how useful getting Hermione on their side is. They're still only thinking of survival, kind of like on instinct. The plotting will fall into place later.
I spent the last day re-redating this wonderful story!!! You have me in tears here. This last chapter was so powerful. Thank you for the wonderful read. I so look forward to another installment.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you so much for your wonderful review. I'm so glad you enjoyed it, that it has touched you so deeply. I'm beyond words.
I was so delighted to see another chapter up for this story. I have really enjoyed your writing and I am very intrigued by this story! Congrats on getting your PhD thesis in! What an accomplishment!
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you. I'm so happy the PhD is done and dusted. It was 4 and half years of drugery.
I am so glad you're back, and congratulations on the PhD!The ceremony was lovely, and the emphasis on magical intent and near silence of it all made it quite profound. Tansy is a fun new character as well--I'm looking forward to seeing more of her in the future.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you so much. So glad the PhD is done. Tansy is marvellous. I'm so into her.
Still enjoying this immensely. I love the slow progression of the relationship and his inner tumoil. It’s refreshing and he’ so in character, even when being romantic. Great job. I wonder though, and forgive me for suggesting, but there are a few things. This: ‘If her Gryffindor brashness sent him scurrying away, she would use her Slytherin wiles.’ – I get so tired of the house thing all the time, repeated over and over, wouldn’t it have been better if she’s simply thought: If her brashness sent him scurrying away, she would use her feminine wiles. And it’s Severus’ house, er, manor now, cant’ he rename the place Snape Manor? And what’s with the opening of the two buttons – mum always told me that was a ‘loose’ thing to do, it would have read cuter if the buttons were ornamental, a decoration, not gapping and straining because she’d gained weight or a larger bust.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Hello lovely,Well, I get your point about not linking everything to House affiliation. And you're right of course, but, Hermione is still too close to Hogwarts to think in such a grown up manner. I'm sure she'll get there eventually. The same is true for her ane the buttons. I mean, before Severus, she's only had Ron as a possible beau. I'm sure as time progresses that she will learn to be more subtle and lady-like.As for the name change, there is magic tied with the name of the place. To change a name also means sometimes in letting go of the magics that are tied to it. I really appreciate you thinking things through so carefully. It is wonderful to have a review that is so detailed. Thank you so much for reading my story with such great care. Lots of love. Do keep reviewing. It makes me so happy.
Response from beaweasley2 (Reviewer)
You're right, and keep in mind these are only my thoughts, nothing more, and it's your story. It's a great story and I'm enjoying it. My bedtime read actually. I'll rememebr to review more frequently (me bad at that) and try not to be too critical. But I can easliy immerse in it and it is really that good.bea~
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
You have me grinning. Thank you. Given that I adore your work, this is a real compliment to me that you are enjoying my story.
